Your Responsibility in Restraining the Power of the State

We have never seen a government that has so overstepped its bounds in the history of America. Even in the darkest days of the despotic British rule we were still allowed our guns. All across the nation local and state governments are putting together laws that will affect your right to bear arms. Its a …

Bitcoins, Beer and the Student Loan Disaster

Click here to view the original post.

How much of this should the American taxpayer subsidize?

A large percentage of the $1.48 trillion student loan debt accumulated by Americans was never spent on tuition at all. Instead, much of that money went towards everything from beer, Bitcoin, spring break shenanigans and exotic reptiles.

More than one in five; or 21.2% of college students, surveyed by The Student Loan Report admitted to spending student loan money on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC). That speculation is risky because Bitcoins lost almost 65% of their value between December 2017 and April 2018. A Bitcoin was trading at $19,205.11 on December 17, 2017, and $6,701.40 on April 5, 2018, data from Coinbase indicates.

Disturbingly, buying cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) might be the most responsible thing college students are actually doing with their money. If they hold onto these digital coins, they stand to make money if prices recover.

How Colleges are Bribing Students with Student Loan Debt

Many more students are spending student loan funds on stuff like beer, Spring Break trips, video games, cable TV, big-screen TV sets, Uber rides, pets, bar tabs, pizza, fast food, new smartphones, or payments on new cars.

Such spending is possible because of the way student-loan money is paid to colleges. Under the current system, colleges do not send the lenders a bill for tuition. Instead, the lender sends the college a lump-sum payment to cover the tuition and living expenses.

The college takes the tuition out of the loan money and sends the rest to the student in the form of a check or electronic payment. The student is free to spend the money on whatever he or she wants. Anybody who has ever seen Animal House will know why handing cash to a 20-year old college student is always a bad idea.

Another abuse of the current system is that it appears to give colleges the ability to bribe students with cash. The somewhat shocking aspect is that the “bribes” are being financed with the students’ future earnings.

The Student Loan Disaster is Much Worse Than You Think

The average member of the Class of 2016 owed $37,172 in student loans about graduation, StudentLoanHero.com estimated. That amount was a 6% increase over 2015.
Around 44 million Americans owed $1.48 trillion in student loan debt in January 2018. That figure was more than double the federal deficit which was $640 billion in 2017 and the amount of credit card debt owed by Americans which is estimated to be close to $620 billion.

Student loans are problematic and potentially catastrophic because they cannot be written off through bankruptcy. That means a person has to pay it off, no matter how broke they are or how old the debt is.
Some people have even had their Social Security benefits garnished because of unpaid student loans. Social Security retirement benefits can be garnished for delinquent student loans as well.

Unfortunately, the number of people defaulting on student loans is increasing rapidly. Around 11.5% of people who began repayment on student loans on October 1, 2013, were in default by September 30, 2016, The Chicago Tribune estimated. No estimate on how much of that debt was used to finance beer, spring break parties or cryptocurrency investments was available.

Could a congressman run for office by promising to eliminate the “college loans gone wild” program?

Thoughts For The Week. Gun Control!

Click here to view the original post.

Well the Port Arthur Massacre certainly worked, & it is the belief of many, including some high ranking qualified people, that the massacre was orchestrated with government knowledge, & Martin Bryant has been falsely accused & imprisoned without any evidence of his guilt & without a coronal enquirie. The word is Bryant has been held in solitary confinement all this time to stop him talking to anyone. Certainly no news has been forthcoming from ex prisoners or the press!
For those that don’t WANT to believe this, ask yourself this question: If the powers that be want the rest of our guns, when & where will the next shooting be?
Thoughts For the Week.

Another Symptom.

This week we had another pin prick that shows the contempt that the tyranny has for the 2 million plus law abiding licenced firearm owners in Australia. Page 132 ACIC Annual Report

If you are a gun owner & you have a good reason for not signing my petition, then PLEASE let me know what that reason is. I think that I am making a very reasonable request, so do you have a reason not to sign my petition, or do you just not give a damn?!

Australia Declares War!!!

Trophy Photo!!!

Australia declares war, does this title get your attention? Australia military have trained the Indonesian military to commit Genocide on West Papuans, & we back this Genocide financially!!! If this is not declaring war on our WW2 allies, then what would you call it???

Why does it seem that I am the only one bringing this Genocide to people’s attention? Why is the rest of the world ignoring this Genocide? Is it because the so called world leader Donald Trump has an interest in the gold mine in West Papua & also condones this genocide?

Rape & Murder, their suffering & blood is on the majority of Australian’s hands!

The slaughter of men, women & children & the majority of Australians say nothing & allow this to continue!

What have the Australian people become that they can sit on their hands & say “she’ll be right mate” when these people on our own doorstep are being slaughtered & persecuted? Since when did our government have the power in our name to say who lives & who dies? Seeing as our government is actually a part of this genocide of innocent people, what makes you think you can trust our government with your welfare, your lives? You think our military would not kill Australian citizens? Well they trained the Indonesian military to kill West Papuans & they were our allies in world war 2!!! Have you seen what our police do to some civilians? Did you know it is now illegal to carry anything for the purpose of defending yourself against an attack?

Did you know that even if you own a gun you are not legally allowed to use that gun for self defence or for the defence of your family in a home invasion? Our government has confiscated our semi-auto bunny rifles, & shotguns, which means that the only people who now can legally use semi-automatic guns are the police & the military!!!

I don’t think that my making posts like this will have any influence on Australian citizens what so ever, which is a shame, because that means that the majority of Australian citizens are complicit with the corruption of our government & its control of the Australian people. Well you can bet your bottom dollar that if TEOTWAWKI ever happens in Australia, the majority of Australians in the city will NOT survive. Do not expect any assistance from Donald Trump, he has an interest in the gold mine in West Papua so I have been told! Don’t expect any help from our own government or the UN, you will be on your own!

Do It Yourself homemade pipe shot gun. Gun Control??? Anti Gun Lobby/Government Ignorance.

Click here to view the original post.

I am posting this video to show the anti gun lobby just how ignorant they are & how pointless gun control is when targeting law abiding licenced gun owners. This video shows how to make a 12 gauge shotgun with only simple workshop tools & no special skills required. This gun is called a “Pipe Shotgun” & it is simply made from two pieces of pipe, a nut & bolt & a screw on end cap.

Now ask yourself this, how will gun control stop ANYONE from making a gun like this? How does stopping me from using a primitive antique muzzle-loading gun stop any criminal from making this gun? What is to stop any crazed person from making this gun & walking into a school & shooting lots of people? Remember, this is a shotgun. Loaded with buckshot it will kill multiple people with just one shot, & this gun is quickly & easily reloaded!

Australians No Longer Care About Other Australians. Brainwashed by the Australian government?

Click here to view the original post.

Homeless people are people with no permanent home, they sleep in cars, family garages, in doss houses or perhaps a family member’s home.

People living rough live on park benches under bridges, anywhere they can find where they hope they will be safe.

The Australian government DOES NOT CARE about these people, & the majority of Australian citizens do not care about these people. Just think about that, is this what we have become as a nation, as a people? Do we have no honour at all? No caring attitude towards fellow Australians in need?

We have the power to put things right, it is quite obvious that the government is not governing Australia properly, it is quite obvious that the care & welfare of the Australian people is not their priority. Oh you may be fine, you may have a good job & a nice home so why should you care about other Australians who have nothing?! What does this say about you as a person who is not willing to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

No gun owner wants to see children shot and they don’t want to exist in a world where maniacs have access to guns.

Understanding EMP and Why You Should Prepare For It

Click here to view the original post.

Source: giphy.com

You’ve probably read books about EMP like One Second After and have likely heard of the Carrington Event, but what is an EMP and what does it have to with a CME?

An Electromagnetic Pulse can be caused by different things like a lightning strike, or a meteor breaking up in the atmosphere, or your car engine starting up.  (The latter was corrected back in the 80’s by a law saying they had to shield starters.)  The types we’re going to discuss  are Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (NEMP), High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP), and Coronal Mass Ejection (CME).

By Jarhead Survivor, a contributing author SHTFBlog & Survival Cache

Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse – Starfish Prime

Back in 1962 scientists launched a W49 thermonuclear warhead into space and exploded it 250 miles above the Earth in a test called Starfish Prime.  This caused an EMP much bigger than predicted and it drove much of the instrumentation used to measure it off scale.  It also knocked out about 300 street lights, set off burglar alarms, and knocked out a microwave link in Hawaii, which was about 900 miles away.  The yield from this weapon was about 1.5 megatons.  It also knocked out some satellites in Low Earth Orbit due to an artificial radiation belt caused by the explosion.

Soviet Test 184

Right around the same time as Starfish Prime the Soviets conducted a test over Jezkazgan detonating a 300 kiloton nuclear weapon at an altitude of 180 miles.   This is considered to be much lower than the yield from one of today’s nuclear weapons.  Since this test was conducted over land the Soviets monitored roughly 570 kilometers of telephone line.  When the bomb detonated it caused major damage to overhear power lines, underground power lines buried to a depth of 1 meter, telephone lines, power generation sub-stations, military diesel generators and electronic failures, all despite the fact that they were using EMP-resistant Vacuum Tube technology at the time.

Coronal Mass Ejection

Coronal Mass Ejection, or CME for short, is when the sun blows off plasma and magnetic energy.  When these hit the Earth they can cause damage similar to an EMP.  In 1859 a CME hit the Earth and caused telegraph lines to give telegraph operators electric shocks.

Telegraph systems all over Europe and North America failed, in some cases giving telegraph operators electric shocks.[15] Telegraph pylons threw sparks.[16] Some telegraph operators could continue to send and receive messages despite having disconnected their power supplies.

A solar storm of this magnitude occurring today would cause widespread disruptions and damage to a modern and technology-dependent society.[2][3] The solar storm of 2012 was of similar magnitude, but it passed Earth’s orbit without striking the planet.

Source

There have been a few other large events like The Carrington Event since 1859; however, most have missed the planet sparing us the worst they could do.

In light of current political unrest in a nuclear capable world and Coronal Mass Ejections randomly throwing electromagnetic darts out into the solar system it seems prudent to at least do some serious thinking about what could possibly happen in a long term grid down event.  If a grid collapse were to occur it would open the door to Pandora’s Box, in this case meaning that people dependent on electricity to keep them alive would likely be dead within days, if not hours of the event.

Collapse

What happens when one of the richest countries with the worlds most pampered population is suddenly thrown into darkness?

A grid collapse would lead to an economic collapse, food would no longer be distributed to cities likely causing food riots and major civil unrest would follow.  About ten or so years ago a city in Massachusetts had a water main break and people were under an order to boil water before drinking.  The city was shipping in free water to hand out to citizens, yet there were fist fights among people waiting in line.  The amazing thing is they still had electricity and running water – they just had to boil it first.  I don’t think it would be unreasonable to extrapolate large scale food riots if the grid went down and there were no more food deliveries here in the U.S.

Stores will likely start charging exorbitant rates for their goods in the days immediately following a collapse.  At least until the store owners figured out the paper they’re accepting for their goods is worthless.  Twenty bucks for a package of Oodles of Noodles?  Bargain.  Buy it quick.

In the book “One Second After” by William Forstchen the story centers around a small town in North Carolina that suddenly has to deal with a complete collapse of the grid after an EMP.  One of the things he discusses is the fact that we live in a country where everything is clean and sterile and our natural resistance to diseases has been diminished.  A good round of the flu in this situation could kill millions.  There are many diseases out there easily communicable that could cause a massive die-off of people.

It doesn’t take much imagination to see towns walling themselves off or setting up checkpoints like the small town in the book.  First, to protect themselves from people fleeing the cities and second, to stop the spread of disease.

Preparations

Preparing for a long term grid down situation would be akin to learning how to live comfortably in the 1800’s.  There may be the odd pocket here and there of hardened generators or places with water turbines that could be repaired or what have you, but for the most part the country would be dark.

It’s good to have canned and dehydrated food standing by to stave off hunger for a few months or a year, but eventually you’ll have to learn how to grow crops, raise animals, and hunt and fish for your food.  And you’ll have to do it the old fashioned way – by hand or using oxen or horses to plow your fields.  If you’re lucky you might have a working tractor, but it’ll be up to you to keep it running.

Learn new skills and acquire knowledge.  Put a wood stove in your house if possible.  Have a large buck saw with a bunch of blades and an axe and splitting maul in your shed.

Set up a community of people to help each other.  No man is an island and someone who’s thought about this scenario needs to step up and become a leader, guiding those who don’t have the first idea of what to do down a path of doing something constructive instead of rioting, stealing, or even killing for a scrap of food.

Learn how to shoot a gun and know when to use it.  You will probably have to protect yourself, your family, or your possessions at some point.

Learn how to make candles, natural lamps and oil for light at night.  After the batteries are gone it could be years before you see electric lights again.

Raise chickens.  A dozen chickens can eat bugs right off the lawn and will lay eggs that will be priceless.

Grid Dependence

Stop for a minute and take a good look at how you live.  Do you wake up in the morning to your phone or tablet waking you up and immediately dive into Facebook or the news before you even get out of bed?  Are you totally dependent on electricity to cook your food, heat your water, make your coffee, and everything else you do?

Cutting wood the old fashioned way.

Cutting wood the old fashioned way.

Or if the power goes out can you get out a camp stove and a percolator and make some coffee with water you have stored away?  Have you done even the slightest bit of preparation for a power outage?

Are you comfortable camping out in a tent in all seasons?  Do you know how to start a fire in the rain or the snow?  Can you read a compass and go from point A to point B reliably?  Remember that the expensive GPS unit you bought will probably be worthless.

I live in Maine and we typically lose the power here three or four times a year where I live out in the boonies.  When the power goes out I have everything I need to make breakfast, wash up, have coffee, and get myself out the door with only a minimum of fuss.  I’m comfortable staying in a tipi with just a small woodstove.  My wife and kids are comfortable in the woods hanging out around an open fire and eating food cooked over it.

Small stove I use in my tipi.

Small stove I use in my tipi.

If you live in a city or urban area and have no idea how to make an open fire, or how to take care of yourself or your family if the lights go out for a few days what are you going to do when it goes out for a year?  Or two?  Could you survive?

I’ve talked with many people about this kind of scenario and a surprising amount of them have told me: “It wouldn’t matter because I’d be dead.  I wouldn’t want to live through something like that.”  Every time I hear that it blows my mind, but some estimates say we’d lose seven to nine people out of every ten if we had to live through a real long-term grid down situation, so their wish would likely come true.

Are you physically fit?  Life after the grid will likely be very strenuous.  Can you carry your bug-out bag twenty miles a day?  Ten?  Five?  Have you ever pulled it out of your closet and taken it for a walk?  Physical fitness is something we Americans lost touch with a generation ago.  Believe it or not most American’s could probably stave off 90% of the illnesses in this country if they’d just diet and exercise properly.  But it’s much easier to take a bunch of pills and medications to control high blood pressure or heart disease than to avoid it all together by eating smart.  Diet or die.  It’s your call.

Discomfort

Get used to a little discomfort.  Go for a hike in the woods when it’s snowing or raining.  Allow yourself to get cold and wet to see what it really feels like then multiply it by a hundred when it happens for real, because then you might not be able to get to shelter except for what you can build out of natural materials.  Go a day or two without eating and see how it feels.  Go down in your basement and turn off the electricity for a weekend and see what kind of obstacles you’ll face.

Pain lets you know you’re still alive.  At least that’s what the Drill Instructors used to tell us at Parris Island.

So how about it?  Could you survive?  Would you want to?  What kind of challenges do you see if the grid goes down?

Thoughts For The Week.

“What you do in your lifetime will echo down through eternity”,
Marcus Aurelius

For the last two weeks our NBN, (No Bloody Network) has been causing us immense disruptions to our normal business. Apparently, it has affected our whole area. We only went to NBN due to the threat that if we did not we would be cut off from our service that we had enjoyed at these premises since 1986, so September 2017 was when we had a month of problems at its inception and now again it has reared its head.

What makes it worse, our old Australian suppliers, betrayed us and sold out to a company that runs its technical support from somewhere near India. Every day we get another different Indian expert that want to re configure our computers and fix the problem, due to English not being their first language communications are confused. Each expert is unaware of the changes that were made on the previous day and adds to the confusion. The Telecommunications Ombudsman has not helped, Telstra say they can help, but as they are having problems in the area with NBN they say we have to wait 10 weeks.

So we have a new Mobile Number 0427 943 677,

Please call, 07 54 825070 this number is still working,

07 54824099 has been diverted to the Mobile number.

Our Internet and Email owenguns@spiderweb.com.au is working, but

Our Fax line 0754824718 is Not working.

This has caused immense problems for PTA’s (Permits To Aquire) and exposed another problem with our firearm legislation and the police policy that they additionally impose on us.

Immediately we knew that the Fax machine had stopped we contacted Weapons Licencing and asked them to stop sending faxed copies of Permits to Acquire we asked them to hold them until we have it working again. A few days later I phoned Weapons Licencing again and asked them to email the PTAs as attachments, in .pdf or any other format, they refused.

As that refusal affects all licenced shooter in the State of Queensland. Here below is a report and request for action to my local Member of the House of Representatives Mr Tony Perrett.

“Dear Tony

On behalf of our long patient customers that have been waiting for PTA Permits To Acquire, could you please direct a question in the house to the Police Minister,

As you are aware the time taken for Weapons Licensing to issue the Permits to Acquire is in most cases many weeks, sometimes many months, their phone robots when answering enquires tells people not to phone them for 12 weeks as they are busy.

For people who have to wait 28 days cooling off period after they have already waited 28 days extended to six months waiting for QPS to process their card its intolerable, but its takes many weeks longer than this in most cases. For those who already have a firearm on there licence the regulations state “the period is the remainder of the day on which the applicant lodged the application” This leaves Weapons Licensing in breach of the Act and Regulations and if this was a dealer and they did not process their information back to QPS on time they would charge us.

Weapons Licensing to attempt to process this disaster a little quicker have over the last few years taken to faxing the PTA forms to the Gun Shops.

Due to the un reliability of NBN and phone lines in general sometime they do not arrive. Weapons Licensing have in the past refused to send them again, and even local Policemen have been forced to re apply and send the money again.

Since last Monday this area (Gympie) has had a huge problem with NBN and the Fax is the first to fail. It became so intermittent and haphazard we asked Weapons licensing to stop faxing PTAs. On Monday (last) Weapons Licensing emailed an attachment with a letter Authorising them to release 15 firearms to a Customer. We complied with this and today with customers asking if we had their PTAs, I phoned Weapons Licensing and spoke to Steve, I asked him, as we have no NBN fax could you please email the PTA s as an attachment, he refused and I asked who was in charge He said AP Guild Inspector, I asked to speak to him he said that was not possible, but that they would not email the attachments . So I asked him to post all of them out as the fax is not reliable.

Weapons Act 1990

Section 39

(4)A permit to acquire must—

(a)be issued in the approved form for a single weapon; and

The Attachments for Email can do this just as good as a fax.

I have included This section of the Weapons Act so that you can see that for most people there should be no waiting period they should be emailed out on the remainder of the day the application is lodged. They (Weapons Licencing) are in breach of the Weapons Act 1990 and should be charged.

101 Waiting period for decision on application for permit to acquire

(1)This section prescribes the period for section 42 of the Act .

(2)The period is 28 days after the day the applicant lodged the application for the permit to acquire the weapon.

(3)However, the period is the remainder of the day on which the applicant lodged the application for the permit, if—

(a)the applicant already holds a firearm under a licence; or

(b)an authorised officer is satisfied there are exceptional circumstances.

Could you please ask the Minister why this has not happened as yet.

Your Ron Owen JP (Qual)

Please phone 07 54 825070 if you need any further information.

NOT the answer I was hoping for, obviously this is down to total ignorance on the part of the law makers, AGAIN!
So, carrying a knife in the car specifically for emergencies, ie breaking the window & cutting the seat belt is not legal !!!!!!!!! This must be a companion law to illegal armed self defence!!!!!!

The preparation or consumption of food or drink? The police have already confiscated my wife’s multi-tool folding scout knife that she carried for food preparation!!! So much for that one!!!
Honestly, our law is a total ass & it pi***s me off no end! What in the hell can we minorities do about it? Stuff all!

· The adequacy of protections for victims of a home invasion in responding to a threat;

· Previous incidents involving a response to a threat which resulted in the suspension of a firearm license; and

· The current awareness of firearms license holders of their rights and responsibilities.

Mr Barilaro said the referral to the Law and Safety Committee stems largely from an incident involving a Bungowannah Farmer David Dunstan. Mr Dunstan used an unloaded rifle to scare an intruder who came to his back door at 3AM on 14 September 2017 armed with a block of wood and a knife. His wife Andrea and their three children were at home asleep at the time. Mr Barilaro said that after meeting David and his wife Andrea in Albury on Monday 25 September 2017, he felt compelled to take action. “As a father of three daughters, David and Andrea’s story struck a nerve with me, as it did with so many people,” Mr Barilaro said. “The case raised a number of serious questions about one’s ability to defend their home and family,” he said. “I have referred this matter to the Committee and asked it to look at whether current legislation does enough to protect the victims of home invasion. “There is a lot of confusion about what our rights are to defend our homes and families from intruders, and this case has highlighted the need for the laws to be examined,” he said. Mr Barilaro said Mr Dunstan told him how upon seeing the intruder, he retrieved his unloaded rifle from the gun cupboard, and then encouraged the intruder into the passenger seat of his car. Mr Dunstan says when he drove up his driveway he was soon met by a police car which had been in the area investigating a similar incident. As part of the police investigation the offender was charged and remanded in custody. The next day police officers also seized all of Mr Dunstan’s guns and suspended his firearms license. On 3 October 2017 Andrea Dunstan also received a letter from the Licensing and Permits Authorities at the Firearms Registry, stating that her license would be subject to a special condition that prohibited her from storing or possessing firearms at their residential address or any address where her husband (Mr Dunstan) resides or frequents. Homeland Security changes course prepares for Nuclear War!

This could be everything; it may be nothing. I recently received a letter from a credible person I know fairly well and the information within should be extremely concerning to anyone who lives in the U.S. or even abroad. With the threat of North Korea, the following information I will be sharing relates to what has currently been on the minds of most people and top priority for many in what to prepare for.

How to join the fight to save your way of life

Click here to view the original post.
1) Our local MP is corrupt & there is no point in contacting him 2) you say nothing about the gun owners in Australia being fractured. They all have their preferences & don’t give a damn about others shooters/gun owners. So long as we are not backing each other, then we are fighting a lost cause 3) you mention nothing about demanding stronger penalties for gun crimes, we should be shouting this from the roof tops. We are not ALL good blokes, there are criminals amongst us & they need to be rooted out & given heavy sentences, not just a slap on the wrist & put back on the streets. This is what the government wants!!! 4) I gave up on the SSAA a long time ago, they are all for themselves & stuff you if you don’t do what you are told. Not a hope in hell of me being a member again, never!

The Fuck-it Point

Click here to view the original post.
As I see it we have to keep on trying to improve our own environment, & keep trying to inform others. Are we a minority? Probably, but we are so distant from one another it is hard to tell. Looking at all those millions of people in our cities you wonder if life could ever be any other way for them, how can they possibly change their environment?

We are doing the right thing right now, it may not be perfect, but it is the best we can do with what we have to work with. Like this video says, we have to survive the system whilst trying to change it. Personally I don’t see it changing, we do the best we can to delay the inevitable, we teach our kids & our grandkids how to survive what is to come. Governments are corrupt & greedy for power & money & the majority of people will vote for that government over & over again. They don’t want to know about global warming, it is too big for them to handle. They don’t want to hear about the genocide in West Papua, it is so removed from their lifestyle, their way of life. They are too busy trying to keep up with the Jones’s to worry about the demise of a people a world away.

I think before anything is done to save this planet it will all hit the fan. Maybe it won’t start in our countries, maybe the protests & riots will start somewhere else & start to spread. Maybe one day there will be enough people who see the light & say f**k it, enough is enough.

Gun Control: Victorian Police recommendations: the real story

Click here to view the original post.
DC Shane Patton
A good regulator:

consults;

is open and transparent; and

tests its proposals with key stakeholders before submitting them to government.

Then there’s Victoria Police ….

As many of you know, we started 2017 chasing ‘recommendations’ Victoria Police made to the state government to change YOUR laws, but refused to consult on.

First there’s the bad news: we lost the case.  However the good news is that we found out what those recommendations were through other means.

Not only that, but the evidence submitted by Victoria Police confirmed the accuracy of the information we received, and revealed how much lobbying a member of VicPol’s Executive Branch did behind the scenes.

A bit of background …

In March 2016, Victoria Police told the Herald Sun that they had made ‘recommendations’ to the government on “firearm law reform”. This followed around a dozen articles in the Herald Sun over the preceding months where Victoria Police expressed concerns about firearm thefts, coinciding with the 20thanniversary of the Port Arthur shootings.

In February this year, the CFCV put in a FOI request to find out what those recommendations were.

Our FOI application was rejected on the basis that the recommendations were “Cabinet in Confidence” and also that they were “working documents”, which are two exemptions which are available under FOI laws.

The problem we had with this was that these protections are normally available to government departments rather than agencies like the Victoria Police, whose job is to enforce the law, not make it.

Our VCAT action

In May, we hired a lawyer – Avi Furstenberg from Furstenberg Law –  and a barrister – Robert Cameron – to fight the decision in VCAT (and for their help and patience, we’re truly grateful. They did a great job).

To help fund the case, hundreds of shooters chipped in to raise what we needed to run the case – and we’re also sincerely grateful for their (and your) support.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had a Directions Hearing, a Compulsory Conference and an “admin mention” and finally on November 13th, the hearing.

The decision was ‘reserved’ which meant that we received it by email around the middle of last week.

We lost the case because VCAT agreed that Victoria Police should be able to enjoy the protection of Cabinet (which we still have a problem with, but it is the way the law is).

What we found out from the case

We learnt a number of things from the evidence VicPol provided, including the events which led to how the recommendations came about.  They are:

1.  That it was Deputy Commissioner, Shane Patton, who liaised with the Police Minister’s office.  Specifically, Victoria Police’s statement advises that:“In around February 2016, Crime Command, Victoria Police instituted a legislative reform proposal around firearms legislation. The proposal was of utmost importance to Crime Command and was targeted at decreasing firearms related offending in Victoria.”

It also stated: “In late May 2016, it became clear that both Crime Command and Deputy Commissioner Patton (the accountable Executive Command member) wanted to ensure that the importance of this proposal for various legislative changes in relation to firearms was fully understood at Ministerial level” and that “DC Patton wanted to brief the Minister directly with concrete proposals for reform due to the significance of the proposals.”.

At the time this started, the Police Minister was Robyn Scott.  Lisa Neville took over the portfolio in May, which is when Patton decided to start briefing the (new) minister directly.

2. That the Department of Justice and Regulation (DOJR) was involved in discussions about the proposals and organising for the matter to go to Cabinet. DOJR hosts the Firearms Consultative Committee (FCC) but once again, decided to keep it in the dark.

DOJR has done this before: several years ago it developed new regulations hiking firearm dealer fees up by up to 600% which would have driven several of them out of business.

While we were able to beat that, it is clear DOJR, like Victoria Police, has a problem in being a good regulator;

3. That the recent Firearm Amendment Bill, which proposed the introduction of Firearm Prohibition Orders and other things such as changing what constitutes trafficking of firearms came from the recommendations; and

4.  That the recommendations went to Cabinet.  Twice.

The first time is to secure the government’s approval of the concept – called “Approval in Principle” – while the second is where Cabinet gets to see the detail of what eventually goes to parliament – that stage is called “Bill at Cabinet”.

We know from VicPol’s statement that the recommendations were sent after the AIP date had communicated to VicPol by the Department.  It means the recommendations were sent after Deputy Commissioner Patton had secured the Minister’s agreement to take the matter to Cabinet. That’s why VCAT ruled in their favour.

.. but we know what the recommendations are

You would think that because we lost the case, that we don’t know what the recommendations are.

Wrong.   Shortly after filing our matter in VCAT (in May) we were contacted by a source who was encouraged by the action we had instituted, who then sent us a detailed email outlining the recommendations – and what the government did with them. (Thank you source, you know who you are …).

Several months later, Victoria Police’s statement provided evidence which corroborated the information we had earlier received (in particular, it verified the origin of the Firearms Amendment Bill, the involvement of Cabinet and the timing of when these events happened).  Our crystal ball proved to be right.

So, in the absence of information to the contrary, it’s pretty clear the information we received is correct.  VicPol, DOJR and Labor are all welcome to refute this, but it would be up to them to prove us wrong.

The recommendations

The recommendations are listed below.  They were agreed by Cabinet, which decided to defer them until after the 2018 Victorian State Election, “so as not to alienate shooters”.

The recommendations are to:

Disarm most cash-in-transit security guards – Cabinet has agreed to remove firearms from plain clothed security guards carrying cash and other valuables, who make up 80-90 percent of the cash-in transit industry. This will threaten the safety of those guards, and the viability of the businesses who supply the equipment they use.  (If relevant industry bodies want to stop this from happening, then they need to get political.  They can email us at admin@firearmscouncil.org.au to find out how);

Greater search and seizure powers – (in addition to the Firearm Prohibition Orders which we already know about), these powers will extend to allowing police to check your firearm storage at any time of day or night, without any warning or a warrant;

The right to reclassify any firearm – Cabinet agreed with police that they – not parliament – should be able to reclassify any firearm, for any reason, and without the right of appeal.

The abolition of the Firearms Appeal Committee – this will remove the ability of shooters to appeal decisions made by Victoria Police (for example, something relating to licence applications) to the Firearms Appeals Committee. This means shooters will need to take the more expensive option of hiring lawyers to take their matters to VCAT or court; and

Increased penalties for firearm offences and changing what constitutes trafficking firearms. The issue of what constitutes trafficking has already appeared in the Firearms Amendment Bill (currently before parliament), but not the ‘increased penalties’.  Cabinet agreed to increase the penalties for minor transgressions of the law, such as leaving a couple of 22s rolling around the floor of the ute.

If Victoria Police or government wish to correct the record, then they are free to do so by producing the source documents we were pursuing, however the information we have been given accords with the evidence given by Victoria Police.

In the absence of this, we are entitled to take these as matters of Labor policy.

Hopefully exposing these particular recommendations will make them go away for now – but more needs to be done to make sure the regulator doesn’t try something like this again (it’s happened before, so is likely to happen again).

At the end of the day we do not have a problem with laws which legitimately target criminals.  However we have to take action where there are deliberate efforts to bypass our community on laws which directly affect it. It’s as much about “good regulatory practice” (eg being open, transparent and consultative …) than anything else.

If Victoria Police can’t or won’t behave like a good regulator, it will never be able to suggest good laws – which means the crims continue to get away.

Stay in touch

With the next state election coming up in November 2018, it’s important that shooters like yourself follow the CFCV:

on Facebook by Liking our page; or

joining our email list (on the link in the comments area with this video)

Following us means we can get pro-shooting voting advice out to you before you vote.  That way, we will be able to use the political process to stop things like this happening.

It’ll also make it easier for you to work out who to vote for when you’re standing in front of your ballot papers unsure about who the candidates are or what they stand for!  We’ll go through the parties and candidates who will be contesting the election, what their policies are, and where their preferences will go.

The government claims we do not need guns for self defence. I beg to differ!!!

It is even illegal in Australia for law abiding citizens to purchase or carry pepper spray or tasers. I say forget about the pepper spray & tasers, we want to be legally allowed to purchase & carry firearms for the purpose of self defence & for the defence of our families. This is a human right that we Australian citizens are being denied by our government.

Gun confiscation was never anything to do with the safety of Australian citizens, the fact that there have been no mass shootings since the Port Arthur massacre has nothing to do with it. People are killing other people with knives, such as the massacre in China, & the terrorist attack in London, no guns were used in these killings. But we NEED to be able to use a gun for our defence, do you really want to have to get into a knife fight or defend yourself with just your fists against a bigger person? This is not sensible or practicle.

Voting For Your Rights, By Ron Owen.

Thoughts For The Week.

On election day 25th November 2017, either the 600,000 licenced shooters of Queensland will work together, to put Labor, LNP and Greens at the bottom of the voting ticket and pro firearm ownership candidates at the top, and giving the forces against us the biggest electoral defeat since Barrie Unsworth (NSW) in March 1988, or we will be further tyrannised for another 25 years. We have been waiting for this golden opportunity for a quarter of a century. If we cannot do it this time we do not deserve another chance.
Get Political for Two Weeks and Make a Difference to Our Future.

Never have the forces of evil been in such disarray. Never has it been so open and shut, we either work to put the minor pro shooting parties and independents in a coalition to improve our plight, or follow your family voting pattern, (vote LNP or Labor or Green) then hand your guns in, or go live in New Zealand. You are either with us, or against us.

Now, is the Time.
Now is the Time to get political, even if you have to miss out on a few shooting events.
Firstly, and most importantly contact candidates and check their credentials. Ask them to convince you that they will persistently work to achieve

A. The end of long arm registration,

B. For the individual right of law abiding citizens to own firearms (semi autos, pumps hand guns) as of right and suitable for their needs,

C. For the individual right of all law abiding citizens to use firearms to defend their lives, family and property.

If you do nothing else, that small effort of canvassing candidates will cause change, as that will alert candidates to which issue they won or lost the election.

Secondly, chose a candidate to assist, put some signs out for them, offer to hand out how to vote cards for them. Write letters to the editor of local papers, they should be swamped with letters, share all pro gun articles on social media and most importantly ‘verbalise’, speak out, to all your friends and family about the importance of voting the right way. Explain to all, the importance of filling out every square on the voting paper, as this is full preferential voting, this gives the minor parties and independents the best opportunity of gaining seats.

First Past the Post system of voting gives the major parties an advantage as
in a five candidate election a party with 22% of the vote can have a majority
and 78% of the electorate can hate his guts. When second and third preferences are counted if the candidate does not get over 50% of the first preferences that does not happen and a candidate that is more suited to
most of the peoples ideas wins.

If LNP, Labor or Greens gain power we will have another four years of the Queensland Police making policy to suit themselves from their ivory tower that is built on our backs, paid for by the impositions of fees and charges for our innocence under their dogmatic indolence.

When deciding who to put last out of Labor, LNP and Greens, you have to punish the sitting member out of the three by putting them last as they will have the chance of needing your preference.

The LNP have to be counted as in Coalition with Labor. They Vote with Labor, so they are Labor.
In an article printed in several Queensland newspapers where in a meeting with LNP Members of Parliament, Tony Perrett MP (our local member) and Dr Christian Rowan MP for Moggill and Shadow Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection I was correctly quoted as stating,

“Most of the shooters will not vote for them (LNP) anyway” the article did not include the reasons why shooters will not vote for the LNP, which had been the subject intensely discussed at this meeting with Tony Perrett MP and Dr Christian Rowan.

Furthermore to the John Howard “Great Firearm Theft of 1996/7 and the Hand Gun Theft of 2003”, which were implemented by the National Party, Russell Cooper and Tim Fischer where both voted with Labor. Again Tim Nichols LNP has recently twice voted with Labor to oppose primary producers’ rights to
own Category H firearms then voted again to support the Labor party’s Weapons Legislation (Lever Action Shotguns NFA) Amendment Regulation
2017.

If the LNP votes with Labor, if they have mutually beneficial deals with Labor they are part and parcel of Labor, we have to deal with them the same way we deal with Labor, we vote against them.

Admittedly, our local member, Tony Perrett, was a champion and at the above mentioned vote on October 11th on the NFA, he crossed the floor and voted
with the Katter Party and One Nation Party. We all here in Gympie, hoped that he would have stood as an Independent for the forthcoming election, but he has chosen to remain with the LNP and as his party has caused so much pain for law abiding firearm owners, we cannot vote for the LNP, or Labor, or the Greens. I admire Mr Perrett for crossing the floor and would always want to count him as one of my friends, but cannot help him, as that would assist the LNP who will always betray firearm owners.

The Great Carrot.
On November 2, 2017 LNP Shadow Minister for the Environment Christian Rowan MP announced in Gympie that the LNP would grant a lease of the land in the Curra State Forest, and provide $150,000 grant to the Cooloola Range Complex Association Inc to progress this facility. (Since that time One Nation has given the Association a written pact that if they have the balance of power Cooloola Range Complex Association would get the range complex site and $500,000 to build a world class facility.)
As I am the president of the Cooloola Range Complex Association Inc this announcement was made at the Owen Guns business premises, with Mr Perrett in attendance. Of course, as the campaign to regain our centrefire shooting range in Gympie has been a 25 year battle, I was very pleased to hear that news and told them so, but also reminded them that their LNP government had been in power several times during the last 25 years and last time in 2012, the minister had even given an Agreement in Principle, but continually delayed and procrastinated, preventing the project from proceeding. We also are fully aware that the only reason that we are getting this promise after 25 years is that the ‘One Nation party’ is now a real threat to their seats in the house of parliament. Without the rise of One Nation the promise would not have been forthcoming. This promise is only on the proviso that the LNP wins the forthcoming election.

Betrayal.
I reminded Mr Perrett and Dr Rowan that as the LNP had betrayed the firearm owners yet again and had twice voted with the Labor Party to impose further impositions on law abiding firearm owners their chances of re-election were greatly reduced and that as we spoke the firearm industry and shooting associations were raising a million dollars to ensure their electoral demise.

The Nurenberg Defence.
Dr Rowan suggested that in politics everything was a trade-off, a compromise and that he felt that even though he knew what they were voting for was wrong, the LNP was a better alternative than Labor and to do some good he had to stick with the LNP.

I reminded him that what he had described was in legal circles called the Nuremberg defence, where German Nazi SS soldiers admitted to knowing that they had done wrong, but blamed their superior officers for making the decisions.

That defence failed at the Nuremberg trials and those soldiers were hanged, under the ‘common law principle’ that if you know you’re doing wrong then you are a part of it and share the guilt.

Mr Perrett knew that further impositions on law abiding firearm owners was against the wishes of his electorate and blatantly diametrically opposed to the LNP’s own firearm policy so he took the correct course and became the first and last LNP member to cross the floor of the 55th Parliament.

The rest of the LNP members followed the party dictates, followed the orders in the same way as those German soldiers and like them have to accept the consequences.

Let us hope on the evening of the 25th November that the consequences of following the party orders ‘knowing they committed a wrong’, results in a loss of seats and losing government. As they will remember this mistake for the rest of their lives.

Is Firearm Ownerships a Right or Responsibility?
As at times we all have to debate the reasons for Firearm Ownership with
people who for many reasons have only had emotional negative thoughts about firearms so we need to identify the correct logic in our philosophy so we can properly communicate to people who have had no experience with firearms. A friend of mine raised the issue as a question,

Is Firearm Ownerships a Right or Responsibility?

A Right, or a Responsibility? I believe it is Both.

Because it is in the same way that Day follows Night.

If not a Right, it is certainly a Responsibility,

as if you do not believe that you have a Right to defend your own life, you may Wrongly allow someone else to choke you to death.

That cannot be Right so the opposite has to be Right.

So if you have a Responsibility to defend your life and to defend the lives of others such as your children, or your aged parents, and not to go quietly into the night, in the gas chamber queue.

So it would be wrong, for someone to prevent you from carrying out your Responsibilities so it is a Right. Surely people can see that a country has a Right to defend itself. If it does not, a foreign enemy could commit genocide on the whole population. The government, or the leaders of that nation have a responsibility to defend their nation in the same way that a father has the responsibility to defend his family. Once that conclusion is made then its is only a choice in how that defence is carried out.

Question                                                                           Answer

Do we believe that our Defence is instantly available via a mobile phone?                                                                                NO!

Do we really believe that Assistance is only 15 minutes away?                                                                                 NO!
(when you could be dead in 15 seconds)

Does the State have a Responsibility to Defend You?                                                                                   NO!

Does the Police have a Responsibility to Defend You?                                                                                     NO!

Do Gun Free Zones have a Responsibility to Defend You?                                                                                     NO!

Does the Church have a Responsibility to Defend its parishioners?                                                                                                    NO!

Does the Cinema or Mall or Café have a Responsibility to Defend You?                                                                                     NO!

Do the people have a Responsibility to defend themselves?                                                                           YES!

Who Ultimately has the Responsibility to defend you?      ONLY YOU!

Your life is a precious gift, and just like any precious gift, you have the Responsibility to care for that and treat that life with the proper respect.

We all know that initiating violence is not an appropriate thing to do, violence when used in defence of self or others, is not only Right, but a required Responsibility.

‘Ethics’ hallow the principle of self-defence as both a right and an obligation, a responsibility. ‘Ethics’ also stress our moral duty to defend others against violent attacks.

To be sure, guns may be misused to injure or kill innocent people, but evil doers have killed and injured since time immemorial and did not need guns, after all, Cain killed Abel with his bare hands! In Biblical times, the slogan might well have been, “Swords don’t kill people. People kill people.” Swords were used to commit genocide, wipe out the populations of entire countries. Of course guns can do the same, but the main difference is that before the firearm was invented the strongest person with the axe or sword won every confrontation but when the equaliser, the firearm became available it made all equal, strength was no more the massive advantage. Now, firearm ownership can and will overcome brute strength.

… the National Firearms Agreement did not have any large effects on reducing firearm homicide or suicide rates.

Melham added:

Homicides using a firearm were on the decline well before the anomaly of the Port Arthur murders. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s firearm injuries and deaths report 2017 clearly shows that firearm-related deaths began steadily decreasing from 1991, five years before the National Firearms Agreement was introduced.

Over the last few weeks we have all had to bear the ‘slings and arrows of outrageous fortune’. Besides being totally innocent, we as firearm owners were all found guilty of being complicit in the deaths of the concert goers in Las Vegas, to the extent that this tragedy was used to punish the innocent law abiding firearm owners of this state by the majority of the Queensland Parliament. STATE laws should be changed to protect the rights of homeowners and help vulnerable victims protect themselves against attackers.

That’s according to Shooters Union Australia which is calling for the State Government to change ambiguous laws which leave licensed gun owners at risk of prosecution for defending their homes from intruders.

SUA vice president David Brown said the reforms should go further and allow background-checked and licensed residents, including vulnerable women, to carry guns as protection.

“We believe in everyone’s right to be background checked and licensed. Also the right to keep firearms for the purpose of self-defence as it is the only means of levelling the playing field against an aggressor,” Mr Brown said.

The legalities of defending yourself, other people & property are in question in Australia. It is illegal to purchase or carry ANYTHING for the sole purpose of self defence. Could these shop workers be charged with a crime? One thief was struck from behind when he was leaving the shop, this too is illegal by Australian law!!! This law needs to be changed. Who is the government protecting, thieves, robbers, murderers, thugs? These laws are NOT protecting law abiding citizens!

Farmer has rifle confiscated for defending his family. Home Invasion!

Click here to view the original post.
Bungowannah farmer David Dunstan (a licenced firearm owner) defended his family from an armed intruder (already on the run from a previous local home invasion) with an unloaded rifle and now the police have seized his licensed firearms!

Who are our police protecting by doing this? He lives on a remote property and as a farmer, his firearms are part of his “tools of trade”.

The law says we are not to use a greater force to defend ourselves than we are being threatened by. So what happens when the assailant is much bigger & stronger than the victim? Does this mean that David Dunstan should have gone to the kitchen & protected his family with a kitchen knife???!!! Get into a knife fight???!!! We have effectively lost our rights to self defence & the right to protect our loved ones, this means we have lost our freedom!
So what are we going to do about this? Wait for someone else to get killed? Do you know how many people get attacked, injured or killed each day? Australian women are getting assaulted every two minutes every day!!!

Something to think about!
“I was raised about a mile from that prison complex in Bayamon, so I know that my former neighbors are on edge. Our criminals are some of the boldest I know. Sadly it’s only going to get worse, as people’s bellies start to really ache, LEO’s reach their limits, looters get bolder and there is less of the good stuff to loot from stores. Guess what; down there, generators are a big “come rob me” beacon shouting out to a half mile radius. Shit’s getting real, and there’s little respect for the rule of law or private property, and private firearm ownership is rare. You have to have a permit to possess, and another one to carry, and they’re both subject to the whims of the approving authorities. This is where that laid back, care-free Caribbean attitude stops being cute. The island has a history of recorded hurricanes since the 1800’s and it’s still always a last minute panic. My uncle installs storm shutters down there for a living and was working until 11pm the night before the storm hit. I got good status back from most of my family except for my uncle, but this is only the beginning. God help them because only he can change the heart of those who would do harm.”

Two attempted home invasions in the same area. A Father uses an unloaded rifle to scare away a man who has a knife & a chunk of wood to use as a club. The Police can shoot someone who confronts them in this way, but this Father had his firearms confiscated, all of his firearms! Now who’s side do you think the police & the government are on?
It is against the law in Australia to purchase or carry anything that is for self defence. That is bad enough, but when a Father uses what he has to hand to protect his family & then gets persecuted for doing so, well that is beyond the pail!

Yet again this store worker was not able to defend himself because it is illegal for any law abiding citizen to purchase and or carry ANYTHING for use in self defence. The criminal on the other hand abides by no such law & can use anything they want. In this case they were carrying base ball bats & hammers!
The police can not be on hand all the time, in fact they are rarely there when you need them! They can’t reach you in time either when you call 000 & yet the government persists in keeping us defenceless. Why is this? My first thought was that if you make it legal for citizens to purchase guns, pepper sprays or tasers for defence, then it will mean that criminals can do the same thing, BUT THE CRIMINALS ALREADY ARE ABLE TO USE WHATEVER THEY WANT! It is only the law abiding people that are being disadvantaged!

Knives like some guns are banned, but criminals still use them! The only ones disadvantaged are the law abiding citizens. AND, it is illegal for us to purchase & or carry ANYTHING that may be used for self defence!!! So who do you think the government cares about more, law abiding citizens, or the criminals?! Sounds ridiculous? I agree, but facts are facts.

More Firearms Restrictions! Further Licensing Issues – Police Policy

Click here to view the original post.
Property Letters

We are encountering issues regarding property letter sizes.  Specifically, a change in policy within Police Licensing Services (PLS) on what are adequate property sizes for certain calibre firearms.  A client recently had a firearms license application refused for a shotgun on 6 acres.

The PLS maintain they have a duty of care and responsibility to ensure license applicants have access to a property to safely shoot a firearm on.  Property size has a large part to do with this.  They do this by applying arbitrary rules, that do not exist in legislation, to decide whether or not a certain license application should be granted.  PLS will not officially release these figures.  Subsequently, acceptable property sizes change periodically without consultation with the industry or even a warning.

These changes make it particularly hard for firearm dealers to advise clients on suitable firearms for their requirements.  While a certain caliber would be needed to humanely kill certain pests or to engage in a certain style of recreational shooting, there is no certainty that PLS will approve that caliber.  This results in license applications being refused, when similar applications were granted only weeks prior.  Firearm Dealers and license applicants lose money and considerable time is needlessly wasted.  The Police Licensing Services claim to assess applications individually and consider other factors – we do not accept this.  Our experience is that little other than property size is considered by assessors in the application process.  License applicants are usually forced to ‘fight’ to get applications approved, often explaining relatively simple realities of pest eradication to assessors with seemingly little training.

History of Application Requirements

Prior to firearm licensing being centralized in 2009, firearm applications for shotguns and .22 long rifle chambered firearms would be approved on 5 acres regularly, and rightly so.  When used sensibly it is entirely possible to maintain the safety requirements that the Firearms Act of Western Australia contains.

The Australian government has not only cut funding to & closed women’s help centers, but it has also made it illegal for any law abiding citizen to purchase or carry anything that may specifically be used for self defence! Now what does that tell you about our government?! You still think that our government is looking after our best interests?! What is it that makes the majority of Australians so apathetic to the needs of others? What is it that makes the majority of Australians vote for a corrupt government year after year with no thought to getting rid of the whole corrupt system?!
We have lost rights as citizens, we have lost human rights, we have lost our freedom to this corrupt government system! The majority of Australians have no honour & no self respect, so how can we expect them to respect others?!

NUMBER OF SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS REACH SEVEN YEAR HIGH

During 2016, the number of Sexual assault victims increased for the fifth consecutive year, up from 21,948 victims in 2015 to 23,052 victims, to reach their highest levels in seven years. The largest increases occurred in Tasmania (up 15% or 27 victims) and Victoria (up 14% or 662 victims). In contrast, the number of Sexual assault victims decreased in the Northern Territory (down 6% or 23 victims) and South Australia (down 4% or 69 victims) over the same period. (Tables 1 & 6)

Across all of the selected states and territories for which relationship of offender to victim data was available, most Sexual assault victims knew their offender and more frequently reported experiencing victimisation by a non-family member (which may include an ex-partner, friend, acquaintance, neighbour, employee, employer, co-worker, guardian, carer, teacher etc.). (Table 11)

In 2016, the number of victims of FDV-related Sexual assault rose by 6%, up 491 victims from 2015 to reach 8,210 victims. The majority of these victims (85%) were female (6,942 victims). (Table 22)

ROBBERIES RISE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SIX YEARS

The total number of Robbery victims rose (5%) for the first time since 2010, up from 8,968 victims in 2015 to 9,403 victims. The increase was largely driven by an increase in victims of Armed robbery, up 7% or 328 victims nationally. (Table 1)

Economic Security Equals Personal Security. F.O.A.A.

Economic Security Equals Personal Security.

By Ron | General

WHY DO WE HAVE STARVATION IN A LAND OF PLENTY?

As this site is concerned with our Freedoms, our Rights and our Security, its time to take a broader brush and give a lot of thought to our Economic Security.

Why do we have an economic system that turns the government into an end, instead of a means, and the individual into a means instead of an end?

What has happened to the Constitutional demand that all institutions exist to serve the individual, that the State exists to serve its citizens? Now it appears that the only reason for individuals to exist, is to serve the State.

If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it. The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much. —Ronald Reagan.

Real economic security would mean that individuals in society must have sufficient purchasing power to provide effective demand in order to consume what they produce. Absolute economic security resides in the possession of a sufficient income at all times to buy the goods and services without which their would be no demand, no production and no payments of wages.

We have next to ask, where do wages, and dividends come from? All incomes as purchasing power are distributed into the hands of consumers through the operations of productive industry. All real purchasing power arises in production. It takes the form of wages, salaries and dividends paid directly to individuals engaged in industry or indirectly from them, through taxation, to those bureaucrats and beneficiaries who spend the money we produce. With loans they are spending future income from production. There is no other form of purchasing power in the Western World system of economics.

Why is there never enough purchasing power in our national economy?

Government doesn’t produce, it only consumes and produces a large negative effect. Here are some of the reasons we have poverty amongst the plenty.

In 2015-16 it took $405.4 billion in taxation, but its total expenses for 2015-16 were $434.5 billion, so the balance was a further debt of 29.1 billion. Just paying the interest on that is taking spending’s from our future earnings, or the earnings of our children.

In 2012 Australian Households spent a total of $642 billion on general living costs but in the same year only earned $521.3 billion in wages and income. So again the balance goes in a $120.7 Billion dollar debt which has to be paid from our future earning.

The manufacturing industry in Australia has declined from 30% of GDP in the 1960s to 12% of GDP in 2007. Yet in 2012 we still donated $7.7 billion in Foreign Aid.

From the figures above we can understand that although Australians earn over a Trillion dollars annually their government masters, remove over $400 billion in taxation which is used to pay their governments interest on its debts. (According to a report released in October 2013, the nation’s poverty rate increased from 10.2 per cent to 11.8 per cent, from 2000/01 to 2013.)

The above general formula is endemic to most countries in the Western World, the governments are run in debt to the banks and so to are 90% of there populations.

There is no single cause operating in the western world today which is of such importance and is so fraught with the possibility of world disaster, as is the disparity between purchasing power and prices. The longer it continues, unchecked the more certain and with more speed approaches either Depression, or War, or Both.

What causes that disparity, that lack of spending power? It is simply that when any item is being produced only a part of its final selling price is the wages and income factor. Say with a packet of .22 ammunition, its production can be split into

A. The cost of lead, powder and brass,

B. The cost of wages and dividends,

C. Taxation and Interest.

Only the earnings, wages and dividends goes into the economy to allow income to be spent on purchasing what they produce.

Governments Sell Tomorrow, To Pay For Today.

Taxation and Interest remove money from the economy, so instead of economic security you have economic slavery. All Government spending is borrowed from the four major banks, and all of the Taxation (Government Revenue) goes to pay the Bank interest on the Government Debt. The Governments Principle Debt just increases annually.

Look at your electricity bill only a part of your payment will go back into the economy in wages, the rest will be negatived by government tariffs and interest. Though these costs, representing profits, interest and depreciation, are all loaded into prices, the money to liquidate them is not distributed to the public neither as wages, salaries, nor dividends. So to afford them the public have to borrow from the banks.

Therefore, prices are always greater than the money available to buy them. In other words, there is always a disparity between the flow in the generation of purchasing power and the generation of prices in any one productive period. As can be seen, this is due to accounting all costs into prices without making provision for liquidating all of them.

This is the flaw in the finance-economic system, and is the main cause of all the economic troubles in the world. It is directly traceable to the use of debt for money and to the policies and practices of the monopoly of credit. Under the present financial system, there is no sound means of bridging the gap between purchasing power and prices.

Now I am not suggesting that the current position of some of the people doing well and the majority struggling in debts should be swapped for socialism.

Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1979 to 1990, summed up socialism nicely: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

Socialism takes income away from productive people and gives it to non-productive people. When a percentage of your hard-earned money is confiscated, you have fewer choices and a lower standard of living. If a larger amount of money is confiscated in taxation, you’re a slave and your only reason for continuing to work is to lessen the depth of the debt.

Socialism is simply a camouflaged Communism.

The once-mighty USSR fell apart in 1989 due to iron-fisted socialistic policies that destroyed the economy while taking away virtually ALL freedoms from its citizens.

People who have recently visited Cuba report that it’s like time has stopped in 1959 when Castro and communism took over. Literally all the cars on the road were manufactured in, or before, 1959. Cuba today still looks like 1955. Unemployment is 48 percent and 80 percent of those who have jobs work for the government, making Cuba’s economy a disaster.

Venezuela is a bigger disaster, their hospitals are germ-infested trash dumps and they’re currently rioting over food. Venezuela’s hospitals are horrible. In less than 20 years they’ve gone from the most prosperous South American nation to the poorest, all because it elected a socialistic government that did away with good economic policies.

North and South Korea are perfect examples of the difference between a free economy and communism (slavery). In communist North Korea, 2.5 million people starve each year. In capitalistic South Korea, her GDP is the 10th largest in the world.

The application of science and technology to production now enables mankind to ensure a reasonable sufficiency of material needs to all, without continuing economic servitude. But the existing financial system is fundamentally flawed. It is endangering the planet through ruthless exploitation of its limited resources in pursuit of financial profit and its wish for ever greater power over the people.

Industry, to be successful, must get back from the public in the prices of its goods more than it pays out to suppliers of materials and labour involved in their manufacture. Otherwise, it could not make a profit. Then the GST factor takes a great slice out of the available spending power.

As industry by necessity distributes all incomes as purchasing power, where does industry, in its turn, get the money for its infrastructure? A brief examination will show that industry is financed from savings, or from loans or overdrafts from the banking system.

Let us follow logically the results flowing from the disparity in which the producers, wage earners, farmers can never find the money or means of exchange to purchase the goods that they produce and need.

It must be evident at the outset, that in every cycle of production a proportion of the goods must remain unsold. As further cycles are completed, the unsold portions must pile up till it is useless and dangerous to produce more for the time being, so banks restrict credit, production slows down, and men are laid off.

When workers are laid off, wages cease, purchasing power further diminishes, less goods are sold, credit is further restricted or called in and cancelled. There is a rush to sell below cost and bankruptcies occur.

Standards of living now fall rapidly; there is further unemployment; dole conditions and acute depression appear; governments start relief works, and the banks readily lend to governments the credit they refuse to industry. Debt and taxation grow apace. As the spending power decreases much of the surplus goods remains unsold, and we have starvation and poverty in the midst of abundance. Goods are wantonly destroyed by oversized banana, oversized pigs etc. and production is forcibly restricted. With mass unemployment everywhere, we are told to work harder, save more, and spend less. Saving and spending less is also a negative.

Parallel with these manifestations is the struggle to find markets abroad for the goods that cannot be sold at home. As all nations are doing the same thing, and are in the same economic plight from the same cause, this leads to commercial hostility, international friction, and finally and inevitably, to WAR.

Government is not a solution to our problems, government IS the problem…
Government does not solve problems, it is the root source of the main problem. Government gives the nations right to create credit, to the four main‘Banks of Issue’ and allows them to create it and charge us all for the privilege to borrow it from them.

As a simile imagine that all the oil and gas beneath the land mass of Australia, which is really the public credit, or wealth of Australia owned in title by the Commonwealth Government on behalf of all its citizens, was given away to a private company at no charge, and then every time the government, or the people wanted some oil and gas the private company lent it to them and then charged and ever increasing interest rate, plus demanding the full return of the oil and gas.

Current governments have never dealt with the root problem, the monopoly of credit creation by the international banking system, they take the donations from banks into their party election funds and considers themselves lucky. The first government that ever succeeds to handle this problem might never be given an election donation by a Bank but would be elected forever by the people.

The Black Heart of the Problem.

The banks only lend money/credit as a repayable interest-bearing debt, with number one priority over the assets of the borrower, so it is clear that the banks entirely control production in this way. In the national economy of ever increasing disparity between prices and spending power, as loans are paid back and the credit crossed off, and as the interest is paid the spending power within the community decreases, and only increases when the Banks create and issue more debt. The Banks choses who wins and who goes without, who succeeds and who fails.

We have already seen that the money flowing through industry is the only source of purchasing power, so it is also clear that the banks, in controlling production, automatically control consumption as well.

That is to say, the whole economic system is dominated by the banks and, consequently, they dominate the lives and destinies of the people, and dictate the policies of governments. History proves this conclusively.

It must be remembered that the banks have discretionary powers to call in loans and overdrafts even before the goods they brought into existence have been sold, and they sometimes exercise this power with disastrous effects on the community. Now let us go still another step further and ask where do the banks get the money they lend to industry, and which gives them control of the community.

The answer is again quite simple:

THEY CREATE IT.
In the terse phrase of the English economist, Sir Ralph George Hawtrey, “They create the means of payment out of nothing.” The money so created is called bank credit, but it really is the public credit, like the oil and gas under our feet, it belongs to all of us.

Banks do not lend the money deposited with them by their clients as most people suppose. Every bank loan or overdraft is an absolute creation of new credit and this credit functions as money.

When cheques are drawn against this credit, they come back into the banking system and form deposits. Practically all deposits are created in this way. Instead of deposits being used by the banks to create loans, as is generally believed, the loans are book figures, (or electronic) and real money or credit has to be deposited to write the loan off the books.

The actual creation of bank credit is an almost costless operation as it consists merely of written entries in bank ledgers or computers, and made effective by written entries in cheque books, or credit cards. Banking, is mostly bookkeeping. Finance is mostly accountancy, and money is mostly figures.

Though bank credit is supposed to be issued against the security of the borrower, it is really issued against the productive capacity and the real or “social” credit created by the communities wealth as a whole. The banks, however, treat this community credit as though they are the sole owners, and are thus in the unique position of being able to lend something they do not own, and of being well paid for it.

As banks have the sole privilege of creating and issuing money in this way, they thus constitute a monopoly of credit that functions as money which keeps the whole community, to whom the credit rightly belongs, in subjection through debt. This monopoly of credit or money creation is the greatest power ever vested in any institution in the history of the world.

The economy should exist to provide people, as efficiently as possible, with the goods and services that they need to survive and flourish. That is, production exists for the sake of consumption, not for the sake of money-making, employment, satisfying the creative impulse, or ‘moral’ discipline (considered as ends in themselves). It most certainly does not exist for the sake of centralizing wealth and power in the hands of a Banking oligarchic elite.

Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne says he wants Australia to become a major arms exporter on par with Britain, France and Germany and use exports to cement relationships with countries in volatile regions such as the Middle East. To read in full click the above link.  http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/defence-industry-minister-christopher-pyne-wants-australia-to-become-major-arms-exporter-20170715-gxbv4m.html

While spending 26 Billion dollars a year on our near non-existent military forces, he has a huge import budget but as he has few people, (all chiefs and no Indians) involved, no one will set up a factory, spend millions on research and development, spend more millions on tooling and staff recruitment to offer a product to equip a few battalions, a few thousand products to a few thousand men. Then Australia would have to compete
with Austrian plastic fantastic firearms and Chinese uniforms. Christopher Payne “IS DREAMING”,
If he wanted to do anything seriously he would return to the 1903 Defence Act which encouraged the Militia the NRA Rifle Clubs which sustained the Australian Military Forces through two World Wars, Korea and Vietnam Wars. The Defence Ministry subsidised the purchase of the battle rifle of the time, the Lee Enfield .303, subsidised the ammunition and made local rifle ranges in every small town and hamlet in Australia. The Club Captain was the O.I.C. in charge of discipline and under the Defence Act of 1903 could call out the Militia for Aid to Civil Powers or in Defence of the Realm. Every man, or member had to take the Oath of Allegiance and was exempt from all State licence requirements.  He or she was a sworn in member of the Militia, part of the Defence Force of Australia, these hundreds of thousands of shooters created a service industry and sent trained shooters into the battalions of the AIF and the Chocolate Soldiers who stopped the Japanese in New Guinea and ultimately saved Australia. For a very small investment Australia was given a purpose, and a market for its Lithgow Rifles, its ammunition manufacturing and led the world in designing rifle sights, spotting scopes and proper cleaning equipment.
This market was again boosted by the Defence Act of 1909 which heralded a universal military training system for 18-25 year old males in operation in Australia from 1911-29. That was, all Australian boys aged 14-18 were compelled to train as cadets, as a type of apprenticeship to the adult army. After four years in the Army Cadets, they remained members of the Militia the NRA rifle clubs until they were 25. This was a significant social and military activity. Hundreds of thousands of cadets were placed in uniforms and graced the drill halls, and rifle ranges that had been newly built in almost every city, town and village of the nation.

Cooroy Rifle Club 1914, produced soldiers like the one below.

The Minister for Defence, Sir William Glasgow said he believed that Australia’s war effort, had been based on the old volunteer and militia system, and which without, it could not have assumed the proportions that it did.
Nothing has changed, we have the same materials, the same young people, we have the room for the rifle ranges, and training area’s, if Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne was half serious, if he wanted to create a defence industry, its like the chicken and the egg, he has to create our own Defence system, its fine having the latest electronic gadgets but to have a defence we need to look to Israel and Switzerland defence, we have to get the population involved and interested. If the Australian government encourage and supported a Militia/ rifle clubs using the equipment of the day, competition would develop invention, the numbers involved would create a market for military goods. Already we have a structure of Service Rifle Clubs, we used to shoot practical rifle competitions, prior to our governments disarmament hysteria in 1996.

Why wouldn’t the shooters above assist in producing the soldier below?
Just a half a billion of his current import budget would make a massive change to our society and give a huge purpose to a large amount of young men and women who do not want a life cooking the Colonels Chicken, or cleaning tables at Maccas. They would love jobs in the military, militia or a defence industry. It needs to happen sooner rather than later, the world is not a happy place.

URGENT not much Time Left to Change the mind of your local State and Federal MP.
NSW has already passed and started Registration of Ammunition, in compliance with the National Firearm Agreement, those traitorous Police Ministers and their Yes-men, unanimously agreed to impose this in every State of Australia.

The 660,000 licenced shooters of Queensland, (growing numbers at 35% per anum) do not have much time left to raise the alarm and tell all, that the new NFA (National Firearm Agreement) that our Labor Premier has ready to put before parliament, does not just alter the categories of Adler Lever Action shotguns, but its real intent is to register and limit all ammunition sales, creating another huge empire of public servants, recording, reporting, accessing and restricting your right to purchase ammunition. This will impose a huge burden on every shooter and on every point of sale, that has to employ people to register and report that information to the State.
Limiting Ammunition when Australia is being encroached upon, the word ‘invaded’ could be used, by 100 million feral pigs or more, they double their numbers ever year, so the CSIRO tells us. We also have huge external defence problems that would by any sensible government encourage production of ammunition and firearms.
Prices will rise and it will cause a black market in ammunition to thrive. More police will be needed to spy on shooters and gunshops, so the Police Union and bureaucracy will continue to increase in size. Criminals, who have no shortage of money will have no problem acquiring ammunition, the government knows this and so does any rational thinking person. This is just another small step with a big government boot to suppress the freedom of the individual.
Other sections of this NFA (National Firearm Agreement) (that no one, but government agreed to) is in changing the current requirement of collectors firearms and heirlooms, from temporary inoperable to permanently inoperable. Instead of a firing pin removal, or a trigger lock, these ancient masterpieces of invention that have huge emotional value to families will have to be welded up into a solid lump of junk.
So please inform your local members of parliament of every party. Emphasise the fact that you and your friends and families will all vote against them at the next election if they do not oppose these further impositions. They do not have to be told which way you voted last time. All federal politicians have already given their assent except David Ean Leyonhjelm so all accept him must be told that you will not vote for them.
Even ‘One Nation’ has these words in their policy “maintain the general principle of the National Firearms Agreement in restricting access to high powered, high capacity firearms.”
More than likely they have never read the NFA, but they have to be told by individuals. Don’t wait for your association to do it for you. Its numbers that count, every vote down, and given to another Independent means that they have to find two other votes to make up for that loss.
When you visit, your local member, he will more than likely blame everyone but himself, he will start with the opposition and then when he realises you know that both major parties have given bilateral support for the agreement. He will even look to blame his own party for a way out, or an excuse.
Just tell him to stand as an independent and proclaim his own policy,
A. For the individual right of law abiding citizens to own firearms,
B. To end long arm registration, to allow semi autos and pumps, and
C. Ensure that all law abiding citizens can use the Right of Self Defence as a reason to obtain the firearms that they believe are suitable for this need.
Remember if a Snap Election is Announced and you do not have time to vet your local candidates  put Labor last followed by the Greens and other major parties that are standing. Only know them by what they produce. Ron.

In 2012 Australian Households spent a total of $642 billion on general living costs but in the same year only earned $521.3 billion in wages and income. So again the balance goes in a $120.7 billion dollar debt which has to be paid from our future earning.

The manufacturing industry in Australia has declined from 30% of Gross Domestic Product in the 1960s to 12% of GDP in 2007. Yet in 2012 we still donated $7.7 billion in Foreign Aid.
From the figures above we can understand that although Australians earn over a Trillion dollars annually, their government masters remove over $400 billion in taxation which is used to pay their governments interest on its debts. (According to a report released in October 2013, the nation’s poverty rate increased from 10.2 per cent to 11.8 per cent, from 2000/01 to 2013.)  The above general formula is endemic to most countries in the Western World, the governments are run in debt to the banks and so to are 90% of their populations.

There is no single cause operating in the western world today which is of such importance and is so fraught with the possibility of world disaster, as is the disparity between purchasing power and prices. The longer it continues, unchecked the more certain and with more speed approaches either Depression, or War, or Both.  (Please read the rest of this article)

The U.S. Government’s Secret Plans To Survive A Nuclear War (While The Rest Of Us Die)

Image source: Bing / About Site R

WASHINGTON — America’s leaders have made elaborate preparations to survive a nuclear war while everyone else apparently dies.

The plans go back decades and only cover top government officials, according to a new book.

“In the early 1950s, the government really hoped and believed it would be able to save most Americans,” writer Garrett M. Graff told The Washington Post. But “plans and ambitions gradually shrunk until, realistically, the best they could hope to do is save the senior leadership.”

Graff describes the elaborate plan in the book “Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S. Government’s Secret Plan to Save Itself – While the Rest of Us Die.”

Graff discovered that the federal government maintains several huge secret underground fortresses where officials, officers and politicians — but not average citizens — would survive nuclear war in relative luxury. One of them, Raven Rock near the Pennsylvania/Maryland state line, contains several freestanding multi-story buildings with 900,000 square feet of office space.

Are Your Prepared For A Downed Grid? Get Backup Electricity Today!

Raven Rock is where government leaders and top brass from the Pentagon would flee in the case of an attack on Washington D.C., Graff revealed. Former Vice President Dick Cheney hid there briefly after the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The Declaration of Independence Would Be Stored, Too

Another underground complex, Mount Weather in Virginia, once was where the Supreme Court, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and paintings from the National Gallery of Art would be kept safe. That still might be the case, The Post reported.

The exact details of the bunkers and evacuation plans are unknown because they are classified. Graff was able to learn some details of the plans by sifting through declassified documents.

Graff became interested in the federal government’s survival plans when a coworker found a misplaced government ID and gave it to Graff.

“The back of the ID had these evacuation instructions on it,” Graff told The Post. “And so I got on Google Maps and followed the instructions and they led to a road that very clearly went into the side of a mountain, and you can see on the Google satellite view big concrete bunker doors.”

Some tidbits about those plans include:

  • The government has a number of custom-built 747s that are “fully staffed with battle planners and war planners and meteorologists and anything else you might need to run a nuclear war,” Graff said.
  • The flying war rooms are protected from electromagnetic pulse attacks with a fine wire mess. They can communicate with nuclear submarines via a five-mile-long wire.
  • The federal government’s last major effort to help citizens survive nuclear war in the 1960s involved the distribution of 150 million pounds of wheat crackers and biscuits to fallout shelters across the country.

Thoughts For The Week.

Firearm Owner’s Freedom at the Cross Roads.

The NEW ‘NFA’ will impose the worst restrictions on our rights since the 1996 Un informed debacle of John Howard’s implementation of the UN. 23 point Civilian Disarmament Treaty. Yet, we the law abiding firearm owners have never been so well equipped to oppose it, we have over 2 million licenced shooters in Australia, (only 13 million people voted in the 2016 Federal Election) we have the Internet, and Facebook which is our means of communication, a force that is now rivalling and taking precedence over the Foreign controlled mainstream media machine. Also, like the rest of the western world the voters are tired of Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum politics, tired of getting the same result from both mainstream parties. This has caused a fine line with no large majorities in any of the Australian Parliaments.

“There are more people on the waiting list to join the Melbourne Cricket Club than there are rank-and-file members in all Australian political parties put together.” (Cathy Alexander, 18th July 2013. https://gmggranger.wordpress.com/2013/10/15/quikstats-australian-political-party-membership/

“There are more members of the SSAA than there are rank and file members in all Australian political parties put together.” Ron Owen

As Party membership has dwindled the mainstream political parties have refused to make their membership figures public, but mainstream media themselves state that in 2013 the Liberal Party had 50,000 and Labor 43,000 and Greens 10,000 which by the 2016 Federal election results showed a further disinterest in the main parties and 22% voted for the minor parties.

So when the membership of our shooting associations which only 1 in 15 join (most remain hunting on rural property) are ‘mountains’ overlooking political parties of ‘mole hill’ proportion, why in a supposedly Constitutional Democracy are we dictated to by an elitist minority. Why do we have to resist and deal with politicians who seek to impose this NFA, National Firearm Agreement. We nor any representative from any shooting discipline, or association agreed, nor were we consulted. While our State and Federal Police Ministers met to unanimously vote to impose, not just a re categorisation of the Adler from A to B. All that was just part of the cover up ‘Flim flam’ creating the media ‘smoke and mirrors’ so it does not enrage the huge voting power of firearm owners.

Read if for yourself, its NOT just a Re Categorisation for the Adler Shotguns it has further impositions.

Find these in the Police Ministers, wish list.

AMMUNITION

54. Jurisdictions will legislate to allow the sale of ammunition only for those firearms for which the purchaser is licenced, and impose limits on the quantity of ammunition that may be purchased in a given period.

(This means that all sales will have to be recorded to whom and which licence another register, more public servants more taxes, more impositions)

55. On the purchase of ammunition, the relevant licence must be produced.

(d) the commercial transport of ammunition with firearms is prohibited

” This Agreement sets out minimum requirements in relation to the regulation of firearms. Nothing in this Agreement prevents jurisdictions from adopting additional, including more restrictive regulations.

Cat A

(c) Shotguns (other than semi-automatic, pump action or lever action)

Cat B

d) Lever action shotguns with a magazine capacity no greater than five rounds

Cat D.

(c) Semi-automatic, pump action and lever action shotguns with a magazine capacity greater than five rounds

20. Heirlooms

(a) Jurisdictions agree that where the owner of an heirloom firearm is unable to establish a genuine reason for possession of that firearm and/or does not qualify for a collector’s licence, jurisdictions may issue the heirloom owner with a special category of licence. The requirements of that heirloom licence must be that:

i. before the licence is issued, the owner provides sufficient proof of inheritance of the heirloom

ii. the licence apply only to a single gun, or a matched pair or set

iii. all heirloom firearms be rendered permanently inoperable

iv. the licence not authorise the discharge of the heirloom firearm or firearms in any circumstance

iii. collectors may not possess ammunition for a collection firearm

iv. any attempt to restore firearms in the collection to usable condition should be regarded as a serious offence and subject to severe penalties

v. all operating firearms which are owned by the collector under separate licensing arrangements should be subject to the same level of regulation as any other operating firearm

vi. for the purposes of the collection of Category H firearms, genuine historical collectors must

1. be a member of a state or territory accredited historical firearm collectors society

2 .have their licence application endorsed by an accredited historical firearms collectors society

3. comply with strict storage requirements

4. display a commitment as a student of arms in order to collect or retain post-1946 handguns.

.43. Jurisdictions agree that the issuing of a permit must be subject to a waiting period of at least 28 days to enable appropriate checks to be made on licensees in order to ascertain whether circumstances have occurred since the issuing of the original licence which would render the licensee unsuitable to possess the firearm or which would render the licensee ineligible for that type of firearm.

45. Jurisdictions should consider imposing greater storage requirements where multiple firearms are kept on the same property.

All shooters and all of their families and friends must VOTE AGAINST the National Firearm Agreement.
Contact your local State and Federal MP ask him to move a motion in parliament to oppose the NFA. His response will quickly inform you as to which side he is on. If he will not oppose it tell him you will vote for any other party that will. There are elections coming in Queensland and it has not been through the parliament so cannot be imposed yet. Seek them out, don’t be insulting just tell them that if they vote against law abiding firearm owners they won’t get your vote or you friends and families vote. If they vote for the NFA they will never get your vote in the future. Do not leave it to your association or your membership to a political party, it needs all shoulders to the wheel. Ten minutes on the phone now could save you years of aggravation in the future.

This coming battle at the Cross Roads against the latest NFA impositions on ammunition purchasers and Collectors firearm arms might not be the last battle, but it will the best chance we have to turn firearm legislation around and to create some sort of future for individual freedoms.

Indonesia Elections. An Islamic Threat.

Click here to view the original post.
Right now the Australian government is sanctioning genocide in West Papua committed by the Indonesian government. Now there is an election in Jakarta with one of the candidates being pro Islamic. Indonesia has always posed a threat to Australia, but if Indonesia becomes a strong supporter of Islam, what then?
WHY is the Australian government supporting genocide in West Papua? WHY is the Australian government still paying millions of dollars to the Indonesian government? WHY is the Australian government trying to disarm Australian citizens (All semi-automatic rifles have already been confiscated http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/133198/FACT_SHEET_Firearm_Types_Oct_2012.pdf )?

WHY has the Australian government made it illegal for Australian citizens to carry anything that may aid them in defending themselves against violent physical attacks, rape & murder? WHY has the Australian government made it illegal in the new National Firearms Agreement for Australian citizens to use a firearm in defence of their lives in a home invasion!?

Australian Self-Defence Laws. Gold Coast police ‘too busy’ to answer domestic violence call for help.

Click here to view the original post.
How often have we heard it said, “you don’t need a gun, we have the police to protect us”. Well of course that is total bullshit, and the government knows it. Not only is it illegal in Australia for anyone to carry ANYTHING for the purpose of self defence, but now in the new “National Firearms Agreement” it states that it is illegal to use a firearm in defence of self and family in a home invasion.
Our government is our worst enemy, they want us disarmed and defenseless, WHY?

Self defence laws put Australians at risk.

Yet another home invasion and the occupant left helpless to defend herself against a stronger attacker. In Australia it is now illegal to use a firearm in the defence of self and family. It is illegal to carry anything outside the home for self defence. The government would sooner citizens were murdered than attackers harmed or killed. Why is that?

I have been without a vehicle of my own for some time now, this was not good because it meant that when I was alone at home I had no transport in case of fire or accident. The X-Trail SUV we had we sold to one of our 3 sons. My Volvo wagon I gave to another son. My Youngest son bought a Triton Dual Cab Diesel 4WD with a drop side tray.
We replaced the X-Trail with a Hilux Dual Cab Diesel 4WD with a hard canopy. I just bought myself a Triton Dual Cab 4WD Diesel ute, and I am very pleased with it so far. We also have a property vehicle, a 4WD Lada, which we use only on the property for transporting fire wood and generally getting about, mending fences.

The X-Trail and the Volvo Wagon.

My youngest son’s Triton.

Our/my wife’s Hilux.

Our/my Triton.

Our indestructible go anywhere Lada.
We can just fit the whole family in the Hilux and the two Tritons, plus of course all our gear should we have to abandon our home in the forest. I don’t see that happening, but it is nice to know that we have reliable 4WDs just in case.

Is Europe the Next Flash Point?

Click here to view the original post.

1_Featured_EU_Flag

2_UK_flagWell it is official, Britain has invoked article 50 and is on track to leave the European Union. But even before Brexit was on the table, political movements in Europe and underlying social issues have created a potent cocktail of flammables that feels ever poised to be lit up. Developments in Europe are particularly disturbing, and potentially threatening. A weakening of the Union over Britain’s arranged  departure, an emboldened Russia, and a rising nationalist movement, combined with huge numbers of economic refugees spreading over the continent, are worrying signs that Europe could indeed be the next global flash point. While the mainstream media will focus on what trade deal the UK will achieve with Europe, I want to take a look at some of the other risks and potential flashpoints that Europe is currently facing.

By Martin Anderson, A Contributing Author to SurvivalCache and SHTFBlog

Possibly the most important underlying factor for the potential of unrest in Europe is the growing sense of disunity among the members of the European Union itself. The organization is currently in disarray, the confidence in it seems further undermined each week. The opting out of the UK from the political and trade agreement signed in 1993 has prompted the populations of other nations to review their own independence from the supranational group of states. Particularly worrying are talks of a Frexit (France), and a Grexit (Germany). Although support for Frexit or Grexit is well below that of the UK’s own desires for exit, if either of these events were actually to happen, it would surely spell the end of any formal unity between European nations.

Debt Crisis

3_eurosAnother factor underpinning a potential hostility in Europe is the ongoing debt crisis. The latest big manifestation of this is the case of Italy’s banking sector. It’s estimated that Italian banks have over $400bn in bad loans on their books, putting a huge strain on the country economically. Being the third largest power in the EU, Italian financial security is vital for the stability of the Union. Additionally, a proposed EU aid package intended to bail out the struggling banking sector was recently rejected flat out. This serves as yet another example of a great European power displaying disdain for Brussels’s authority. The particular banking reforms required in order to receive the money aimed at easing the situation in Italy were apparently at odds with current Italian banking practices, and as such were vetoed in Rome. Being such a recent development, the implications of this latest crisis will not be known for some time. However, the handling of the issues that surround Italian banks will be absolutely crucial for the future of the EU. Put simply, a weak Italy means a weak Union, and a weak Union means a greater chance of general instability in the region. Instability, of course, is a precursor to flash points.

Refugee Crisis

With literally millions of people pouring into Europe from disaster zones such as Syria, and Lybia, the strain on government budgets to provide aid, and the resentment this causes among some, are clear causes for concern over the stability of the continent. The correct (both morally, and feasibly) response to the tragic displacement of these people is a serious source of division among Europeans. There are many citizens and politicians alike who disagree with the notion that Europe should be obligated to house any refugees at all. Both the recent economic hardships and a rising demand for tighter immigration controls is fueling the growth of many populist right wing movements in Europe, as well as it is further afield. Such nationalist popular uprisings are naturally anti-EU, and as their influence grows, so too does public disenchantment with the idea of taking governance from outside of one’s own borders.

A Weaker Europe is a Stronger Russia

4_russian_flagTaken alone, a weaker Europe seems unlikely to generate the kind of flash point that would concern those in the US, what it does mean, however, is a shift in global power towards Moscow. Seemingly emboldened by the Trump presidency, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has made no secret of his desire to see his nation respected on the world stage as it once was. While there is scant evidence to suggest a Russian flag will be hoisted again over Berlin any time soon, the opportunistic leader appears to have been using a weakened, distracted Europe in order to gain greater influence on the collapsing continent. A report by the Wilfred Martens Center for European Studies states that the Kremlin has been funding the dissemination of pro-Russian sentiment across Europe through the use of NGOs. The aim could well be to create a more supportive opinion base for future foreign policy ambitions. According to the report called “The Bear in Sheep’s Clothing”, the spreading of pro-Russian sentiment seeks to “legitimise a Russian crackdown on human rights and encourage understanding and support for Russian culture, language, history and conservative values while opposing democracy”. Clearly, this sentiment is at odds with the opinion of many in the liberal democracies of Western Europe and seems likely to be indicative of a broader foreign policy agenda in Moscow.

Russia Has Eyes on Their Frontiers

The spreading of pro-Russia propaganda in European states could well be part of a wider strategy by Putin to weaken the EU and NATO, generally. Much of the information mentioned by the Wilfred Matens report is supportive of strong independent states and generally right wing “strong leader”sentiments. It seems to be an attempt to exacerbate the growing disillusionment with the efficacy, and even concept, of the Union from within its own borders. A collapsed NATO and EU would create a global power and influence map much more akin to that of the 1960s, when Russia stood atop the world stage rivaled only by the US. The dissolving of both supranational agreements would significantly weaken Europe’s border with Russia, thus allowing the latter to once again enjoy the highest standing of global power.

Read Also: New Technology is Bringing Us Closer to Nuclear War

5_russian_military_paradeWhether or not the plan is to expand their Western frontiers is anybody outside of the Kremlin’s guess. Putin has made it clear in the past of his intention to restore USSR power, but annexing former territory would likely be too bold even for Putin .One thing is for certain, Russia has been increasing its military preparedness along their major borders, and this is in isolation cause for concern. Owing to the current warmer relationship between the two great former world powers, Russian aggression in Europe might not even prompt American involvement. Similarly, the UK, which with France is considered a cornerstone of European military power is removing itself from the EU, its obligation to engage with those that threaten Europe will be limited to that of its NATO obligations. Should Putin decide to flex his muscles at the border in the future, he may well find very little resistance.

Conclusion

The current political, and social climate in Europe seems poised on a knife edge, and the house-of-cards that is the European Union is beginning to feel passed its sell-by date. Economic hardship, an influx of refugees on the continent, a bullish Russian neighbor, and a rising affinity among the masses for nationalism, all underpinned by a military and political pact that are looking increasingly fragile, are strong indicators that Europe could indeed be the site of a major global flash point. Any one of these factors alone has the potential for localized pockets of mass unrest to flare up. However, taken together it seems much more a case of “sooner-or-later”, rather than “will it, won’t it?” One thing is certain, our preparedness relies on our information. We must make ourselves aware of events overseas and well as domestic news if we are to ensure our own survival.

That Time The U.S. Gov’t Rationed Food – And Threatened Jail For Those Who Didn’t

Click here to view the original post.

That Time The U.S. Gov’t Ordered Americans To Ration Food – And Threatened Jail If They Didn’t

If you were asked to picture people lined up at a grocery store with ration books in their hands, you would probably imagine people in war-torn Europe. However, during World War II, government-issued ration books were a very real part of American life.

To distribute food and other items that could be in short supply due to the war effort and also to create a sense of unity, the federal Office of Price Administration (OPA) established a rationing system for the nation’s citizens.

That Time The U.S. Gov’t Rationed Food – And Threatened Jail For Those Who Didn’t The government then launched a promotional campaign for the ration books that included widespread radio ads, posters and pamphlets. The campaign appealed to Americans’ patriotic sense of duty, and it warned that non-compliance could be met with stiff fines and even jail time.

For example, on the National World War II Museum website, you can see an image of the warning page from War Ration Book One.

Punishments ranging as high as Ten Years’ Imprisonment or $10,000 Fine, or Both, may be imposed under the United States Statutes for violations thereof arising out of infractions of Rationing Orders and Regulations.

Ration book covers included symbols of military aircraft and tanks to remind citizens of their purpose.

Initially, rationing began with gasoline and tires, as the government geared up to transport American troops overseas.

Nationwide, gasoline rationing began Dec. 1, 1942. A typical American with “nonessential” driving needs was allowed enough gasoline for roughly 3,000 miles per year. As a result, families put their vacation road trip plans on hold indefinitely.

Several months later, the rationing program expanded to include food and food products. Many processed and canned foods were in short supply because they were being reserved for the troops, and the transportation of fresh foods was becoming limited due to gasoline and tire rationing. In an effort to keep the distribution of food fair and equal (in other words, to discourage a black market), the OPA issued monthly ration books to every American.

The books contained removable stamps good for specific items such as sugar, meat, cooking oil and canned goods. A shopper could purchase a rationed item only with the proper stamp. Once you used your stamps for the month, you could not buy any more of those particular foods that month. As a result, menu planning and menu creativity became an essential part of everyday life.

The system was complicated with points allotted to each item on the list.

Each household member received 16 points of red stamps and 48 points of blue stamps per week. Blue coupons were for canned and bottled fruits and vegetables, and red coupons were for meats, hard cheese and fats. Grocers displayed the ration points for items on their shelves, and shoppers would pay the total amount of stamp and cash owed when they checked out of the store.

If you wanted to splurge for sirloin one month (at about nine points per pound), you might have to limit your consumption of canned soup (four points per can). To make things even more difficult for grocers trying to keep up with the program and for shoppers aiming to get the most out of their ration books, the point values would change as supply and demand rose and fell.

Goofy Gadget Can Jump-Start Your Car — And Charge Your Smartphone!

Generally, fresh produce and baked goods were exempt from the ration program. In addition, many families planted “victory gardens” to supplement their food supplies. By 1945, an estimated 20 million victory gardens produced nearly 40 percent of the vegetables Americans consumed.

That Time The U.S. Gov’t Rationed Food – And Threatened Jail For Those Who Didn’t The ration books listed many rules and regulations for their use. Here are some of them:

  • “Every person must see that his War Ration Book is kept in a safe place and properly used. Parents are responsible for the safekeeping and use of their children’s War Ration Books.”
  • “When you buy any rationed product, the proper stamp must be detached in the presence of the storekeeper, his employee, to the person making delivery on his behalf. If a stamp is torn out of the War Ration Book in any other way than above indicated, it becomes void. If a stamp is partly torn or mutilated and more than one-half of it remains in the book, it is valid. Otherwise, it becomes void.”
  • “If you enter a hospital, or other institution, and expect to be there for more than 10 days, you must turn you War Ration Book over to the person in charge. It will be returned to you upon your request when you leave.”
  • “When a person dies, his War Ration Book must be returned to the local Ration Board in accordance with the regulations.”

American eating habits changed as a result of the rationing program. To save on ration points, for instance, many families switched from butter to Oleomargarine. To save on meat consumption, shoppers bought the new Kraft Macaroni and Cheese packaged product. Sales of cottage cheese skyrocketed from 110 million pounds in 1930 to 500 million pounds during the rationing program, as people used cottage cheese as a meat substitute in meals.

Although World War II ended in 1945, the rationing program continued until 1946. Gradually, life – and grocery shopping – returned to normal and the average American’s consumption of meat, butter and sugar rose to pre-rationing levels.

If you would like to know more about America’s food rationing program, visit the National World War II Museum website.

Better yet, talk with someone who lived through it to get a first-hand perspective.

Another Home Invasion. No Legal Right to Defence in Australia.

Click here to view the original post.

The Australian government doesn’t give a damn about the safety of the public. Gun control has nothing to do with public safety. We are not allowed to own, carry or use anything specifically meant for use in self defence or in the defence of others. Now the government has banned the use of firearms for defence. Australians are left defenceless unless we break the law. We should have the right to defend ourselves and our families in whatever way we consider necessary. Surely this is a human right?! The Australian government is denying us this right!

Sooner or later I think Australian citizens will have to ask themselves this question: Would you rather be judged by 12 or carried by 6 ?!

Editor’s note: This is the second story in a two-part series about what the federal government says should be stockpiled. Read part 1 here.

Perhaps surprisingly, the federal government has been part of what has driven the prepping movement.

FEMA’s “ready.gov” website was developed with the idea of helping people to prepare for a natural disaster so that they would have a better chance of surviving it. While FEMA isn’t the definitive source for survival information, a number of things that are widely accepted in the prepping community trace their roots right back to Ready.gov.

The most glaring example of this is the three-day food rule, which defines that bugout bags, otherwise known as 72-hour bags, have three days of food in them. Just about everyone talks about having three days of food in their bug-out bag, without anyone taking about the “why” behind that figure. But here’s the why: because the government said so.

Personally, I carry five days of food in my bug-out bag, and have another couple of weeks worth in a secondary bag, with even more food in other portable containers. The idea is to take as much food with me as I can, and use the food from the other containers first, leaving what’s in my bug-out bag for last. That way, if I have to abandon my vehicle and the other food, I’ll at least have that five days’ worth.

So, where did FEMA’s idea of three days’ worth of food originate? It came from their master plan, which states that they will have relief services in place in three days. Forget that they haven’t been overly successful in accomplishing that in the past, but it’s still their plan.

We can extrapolate a very important point from this. That is: everything that the government says about disaster preparedness is based upon the assumption that the Nanny State government will be there to help you. If you trust the government, that’s fine; but if you don’t, then it’s not a good idea to put too much stock in what they offer as survival advice.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at FEMA’s list of “Recommended Items to Include in a Basic Emergency Supply Kit.” This printable list is what FEMA recommends having on hand, mostly with the idea of surviving a natural disaster.

Are You Prepared For A Lengthy Blackout? Get Backup Electricity Today!

In addition to food and water, the list includes:

  1. Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both.
  2. Flashlight and extra batteries.
  3. First-aid kit.
  4. Whistle to signal for help.
  5. Dust mask, to help filter contaminated air, and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place (better to use a medical grade mask to keep out pathogens, too).
  6. 23 Items (Besides Food & Water) FEMA Says You Should StockpileMoist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation.
  7. Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities.
  8. Can opener for food (if kit contains canned food).
  9. Local maps.
  10. Prescription medications and glasses.
  11. Infant formula and diapers.
  12. Pet food and extra water for your pet.
  13. Important family documents such as copies of insurance policies, identification and bank account records in a waterproof, portable container.
  14. Cash or traveler’s checks and change.
  15. Emergency reference material such as a first-aid book or information from ready.gov.
  16. Sleeping bag or warm blanket for each person. Consider additional bedding if you live in a cold-weather climate.
  17. Household chlorine bleach and medicine dropper. When diluted nine parts water to one part bleach, bleach can be used as a disinfectant. Or in an emergency, you can use it to treat water by using 16 drops of regular household liquid bleach per gallon of water. Do not use scented, color-safe or bleaches with added cleaners.
  18. Fire extinguisher.
  19. Matches in a waterproof container.
  20. Feminine supplies and personal hygiene items.
  21. Mess kits, paper cups, plates and plastic utensils, paper towels.
  22. Paper and pencil.
  23. Books, games puzzles or other activities for children.

Before going any farther with this, we need to understand exactly what this list is. By looking at it, it is immediately clear that the items listed are for sheltering in place, in your home, while waiting for government relief. That, in turn, assumes that the government will be able to bring relief, that they will be able to do it in three days, and that they will physically be able to get to you. Those are some pretty big assumptions.

When Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, one of the many problems that delayed the arrival of relief into the New Orleans area was the trees and other debris scattered on the roads. There were many places where the roads had to be cleared before the trucks carrying the relief supplies could make it to those who needed it.

FEMA’s inability to deal with the situation in a timely manner was obvious and examined in great detail. So, it would be natural to think that they would have been ready seven years later when Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast. But they didn’t even put out requests for quote (RFQs) for the supplies they needed until the day after Sandy hit. It doesn’t look like they learned a whole lot.

While there are many other examples we could use, I’ll just mention one other. In 2016 there was a massive flood in Louisiana, affecting about 30 parishes (what the rest of us call counties). In that case, it wasn’t FEMA that rescued people and brought relief, but rather the people of Louisiana helping each other. Some used their boats to rescue people stranded on their roofs, while others set up emergency shelters and cooked meals for those who were displaced by the flood. It was a great demonstration of community outpouring to help one another out.

23 Items (Besides Food & Water) FEMA Says You Should StockpileSince it’s clear that there are many cases where the government can’t get in place fast enough to truly make a difference, accepting the idea that three days’ worth of food and water is enough, is ludicrous. But even if they could, that three-day figure doesn’t take into account any long-term or national disaster scenarios.

Long-term disasters are those that last anywhere from a few months to more than a year. In such a case, it’s clear that we’d need a whole lot more food than the three days mentioned in FEMA’s list; or, we need to grow our own food.

Situations like terrorism taking out the grid or bio-warfare would mean that we’d all have to be self-sufficient for months.

Get Instant Electrical Power In A Convenient, Portable Briefcase!

Many writers have undertaken to write complete lists of what you’ll need in these sorts of situations, myself included. Take a look at the article on “22 Things Besides Food and Water That You Should Stockpile” or “21 Surprising Items You’ll Need when the Grid Is Down.” The truth is, there is no way of knowing for sure everything we’ll need, so we need to plan for everything and hope that we didn’t miss anything.

But let me take a moment to make a quick case for what’s missing from the government’s list. To determine what we need, we always have to start out with the basics for survival. Those are:

  • Ability to keep warm.
  • Clean water.
  • Nutritious, high-energy food.

To support that, we need to add:

  • The ability to defend ourselves.
  • First-aid supplies.
  • The ability to start a fire.
  • Tools.

Just looking at those seven areas, it’s clear that the FEMA list is missing a lot of things. They mention matches to start a fire, but they don’t talk about fuel for the fire. Their list assumes that everyone has a stock of firewood sitting behind their homes, as well as a government-approved wood-burning stove to burn it in? Incomplete answers to survival problems, like this one, get people killed.

They do mention the ability to purify water with bleach, but that’s the only water purification method they mention, and they missed the part about shaking up the water once you put the bleach in it to make the bleach dissipate, and then allowing it to sit for 20 minutes to kill the pathogens. But why not mention some other methods of water purification? Water is such an important part of survival, that depending on only one method is not safe.

Two of the “supportive” areas that I mentioned above are totally missed by FEMA: the ability to defend yourself, and tools. One of the things you can count on in the aftermath of any disaster is the criminal element coming out of the woodwork to take advantage of the situation.

The fact that they missed tools can be forgiven, if we assume that the plan is to shelter in place, in your home, awaiting the arrival of government aid. But then, if you were one of those people, you wouldn’t be reading this website. The fact is that many survival tasks, from building or repairing shelter to preserving food, are going to require tools of some sort. Of anything that FEMA has left off their list, this is probably the biggest omission. Yes, you can make it three days without those tools, but not a whole lot longer.

All in all, the only true value that the FEMA list has is as a starting point. For someone who hasn’t done anything about emergency preparedness, this list is an eye-opener. But the sad thing is that many will take this list as being the definitive word on survival and not go any farther.

Simply put, it is not wise to put our survival in the not-so-capable hands of the government.

Hobart.

The states took a tentative step towards uniform gun laws yesterday when police ministers agreed to establish a national gun-control code on shooter licensing, mail-order sale, safety training and secure storage.

The Federal Government will also further restrict the importation of ammunition and machine pistols. But those attending the Australian Police Ministers Council yesterday left unresolved a national argument on the registration of all guns.

The federal Justice Minister, Mr Kerr, described yesterday’s code decision as “a step towards uniformity”.

He said quick responses to shooting tragedies in different states in recent years had led to ad hoc, potentially conflicting standards. Now ministers had set up a mechanism to take a more considered, long-term view.

Mr Kerr said the latest statistics showed that in 1993, only about 70 of Australia’s 526 firearm deaths involved violent crime.

The planned code was welcomed by Victoria’s Police Minister, Mr McNamara, as the most significant improvement in decades, and one that would remedy Victorian concerns about the effect of more relaxed laws in other states.

“It’s the hoons and lunatics that everyone wants to see firearms removed from,” he said. “We need to look at measures where we can more closely interact with mental health authorities so that we can identify persons who should be prohibited from obtaining firearms.”

The NSW Police Minister, Mr Paul Whelan, did not attend the meeting and is awaiting a briefing. Mr Kerr was confident that NSW and the other absent states, Queensland and the Northern Territory, would agree with the proposals.

While all jurisdictions now follow the principle that firearms be securely stored, the provision was variously interpreted. A Western Australian model is being proposed in which guns must be kept in steel cabinets with separate lockable ammunition storage.

The Victorian Justice Department is to coordinate the development of the code, which will be put before the next Police Ministers’ Council meeting in Tasmania in November.

The Commonwealth’s tightening of imports will outlaw a variety of ammunition, including military ammunition greater than 12.7mm, tracer bullets, armour-piercing and flechette ammunition.

Imports of standard hollow-point and soft-nosed ammunition will still be allowed, but a prohibition on military-style weapons will be extended to pistols configured as semi-automatic machineguns.

The president of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia, Mr Ted Drane, said there were up to four million licensed shooters who ought to be consulted before changes were made to gun laws.

“We will never have national gun registration because that would mean that too many people (politicians) would lose their seats if they did in places like Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania,” he said.

A spokesman said Victoria’s chief commissioner of police, Mr Neil Comrie, said he supported uniform gun laws.

Is the Australian Government a registered Corporation in the USA?!

Is the Australian Government a registered corporation? As I understand it, and I must admit that I am not in any way legally minded or very knowledgeable in regards to politics, the idea of a corporation is to make money for it’s investors. Now Australian citizens are not investors in a monetary sense IF the Australian Government is a corporation. So, we can’t earn any dividends from this corporation, but it is in the interest of the corporation NOT to spend money unless it can also make money.
Funding cuts to public services are obviously making money for someone, but certainly not us. Money spent of firearms registration comes out of our pockets, and again is not for our benefit. Money spent on gun control and gun confiscation is again payed for from our taxes, but again does not benefit us in any way or form. We work all our lives, and part of the deal was that we get a pension when we retire, but again, pensions have been cut and the retirement age extended! All this is putting money into the government coffers, but we the law abiding citizens are not receiving any benefits.
So, can anyone throw any light on this Australian government corporation thing? Is it fact or fiction? Is the Australian government a USA registered corporation?

The 12 Foods The Government Says You Should Stockpile (But Is It Enough?)

It’s hard to quantify, but the modern prepping movement has at least, in part, been caused by the government. I am not referencing fear in the government doing something stupid that would force us into survival mode (although that is possible), but instead in promoting the idea of disaster preparedness.

FEMA’s Ready.gov website contains a host of information on how to prepare for a pending disaster, and radio commercials promote the idea, too. While not the best information in the world, it’s a good starting point for the novice prepper.

Of course, many if not most preppers don’t pay much attention to the FEMA website. Part of that could be because few of us trust the government all that much. But a much bigger part is that the government’s idea of prepping really doesn’t go far enough.

Just 30 Grams Of This Survival Superfood Provides More Nutrition Than An Entire Meal!

Let’s take a look at the list of Suggested Emergency Food Supplies that FEMA has on their website:

  1. Ready-to-eat canned meats, fruits, vegetables and a can opener
  2. Protein or fruit bars
  3. Dry cereal or granola
  4. Peanut butter
  5. Dried fruit
  6. Nuts
  7. Crackers
  8. Canned juices
  9. Non-perishable pasteurized milk
  10. Vitamins
  11. Food for infants
  12. Comfort/stress foods

That’s it — a dozen things. While all of those are good choices, there’s no way that I would consider them enough. But then, I take a much different view of survival than what FEMA is promoting.

The 12 Foods The Government Wants You To Stockpile (But Is It Enough?)

FEMA takes the stance that you only need to be ready to take care of yourself for three days. That’s their target reaction time. At the end of the three days, FEMA supposedly will have assistance in place. There’s only one thing … FEMA has a very poor track record of meeting that goal.

So when FEMA talks about stockpiling food, they only talk about stockpiling three days of it. That’s probably where the idea of a bug-out bag only having three days of food originates. Personally, I don’t feel that three days is anywhere near enough, especially since I have no intention of ending up in a FEMA camp, waiting for the government to decide to let me go.

There were people digging in dumpsters, looking for food, six weeks after both Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy (which occurred in Republican and Democratic administrations). That doesn’t give me a whole lot of faith in FEMA’s abilities. But I’m also concerned that whatever FEMA gives out, comes with a price. The price of government meddling in our lives. That’s a much higher price than paying for my own food, to build a descent stockpile.

Let’s go back to that list for a minute. While the foods contained in it are all good choices for a survival situation, there really isn’t enough there to create actual meals, unless you stockpile canned goods that can be put together to make a meal. While that is possible, it’s not anyone’s first choice. Canned foods do provide nutrition, but they are severely lacking in flavor.

If all you’re talking about is surviving three days, that’s not really an issue. You can live on peanut butter crackers and dried fruit for three days. For that matter, you can live without it for three days, just about as well. But you can’t simply buy more of the foods mentioned on this list and expect to have a three- or six-month stockpile. You’ll have to add other foods to it. I’m not going to talk about what other foods you should stockpile, as I’ve written other articles about it. Try this article or this one for more information.

Another problem with the list is that not all of these foods will store for a prolonged period of time, without rotating your stock. While some, like canned goods will last a long time, there are other things, like breakfast cereal and crackers, which will quickly become stale and unpalatable.

FEMA also suggests that you “choose foods your family will eat.” While that may seem to make sense, most of our families aren’t going to go for a healthy diet of survival food; they’re going to want something tasty. In other words, they’re going to want the same sorts of junk food that they’re used to eating. That doesn’t work, and it’s actually totally contradictory to the list of foods they’ve put together.

I prefer to say, “Figure out how to make the foods you are going to have to stockpile for survival palatable for your family.” This requires figuring out how to take the foods that you stockpile and adapting their flavor to meet your family’s tastes. While not easy, this is actually possible. All you need is a stock of the right spices, plenty of salt and maybe a few sauces, like spaghetti sauce.

You’ll have to do some experimenting to find ways of preparing the survival foods you’re going to stockpile in ways that will be palatable to your family. Take the time to make up some recipes, and make a small batch and test it on your family. If it doesn’t work, try modifying. That usually means adding more spices to give it more flavor.

I stockpile plenty of spaghetti sauce and cream of mushroom soup, as well as the spices used in making my own spaghetti sauce, so that I can restock from tomatoes I grow in my garden.

So, yes, the FEMA list contains a few items that should be in any stockpile. Just don’t stop there.

Contamination in Australian water & foods.

(Click the web browser refresh button to see the latest reports. Date Formatting is Day/Month/Year – 11th March 2011 is 11.03.2011.) March 2015 – Tuna Contamination Report,
This incident reportedly happened six months ago, and unfortunately there was no available sample to test.
In late March I received this email from a contact who has a Geiger counter.
I have removed some information from the correspondence to protect the contacts anonymity.
“You have to watch your food like a hawk. My daughter had some tuna in oil….very small tin. I had been warning her. But dad is crazy. I found the tin going into the recycle, it still had a bit of oil in it. So, me being me, I got out my geiger counter and took a reading………it went ballistic.
It just keep climbing and climbing. I didn’t think it was going to stop……It stopped climbing when it hit 38K counts per minute….I didn’t know my bGeigie Nano meter went that high. The oil seemed OK, the tin seemed OK, but a tiny flake of leftover tuna the size of a match head was on the lip of the tin, that is what set it off. Don’t eat ANYTHING from the sea….anymore. That tuna was toxic radioactive nuclear waste, and not food.”
38K counts per minute would be around 1000 times background, using this model Geiger counter!
I sent this email to get more information on this very high detection.
Do you still have the sample?
If you are located in Australia, and still have the sample, I could test it, if you posted to me.
If you don’t have it, if you provide the information below, I may be able to source some here, and test it.
In what country was the tuna tinned?
In what country was it purchased?
Here is the reply to my email query.
This happened over 6 months ago.
I can only assume it was canned in the USA. tuna in oil. At that time I thought the reading was coming from the oil in the tin….I didn’t notice the flake that was on the outside top edge of the can. I got it stuck on my finger and washed it off. After this, is when I couldn’t get a reading from the tin or the oil again. I realized that the flake which was gone down the drain by then was the cause.
I thought my Geiger counter was malfunctioning at the time, which it never has before or since. The count was going up and it freaked out my son as we watched it climb. The highest reading I have ever gotten until then was 164 CPM off of a milled piece of pine, but at that time I was (and still am) learning how to use the geiger counter.
Comment:
A small number of tests on different brands of tinned tuna have been conducted here recently, and over the last couple years. There was nothing to report from these tests. This is only one community testing lab, and each test takes 24 hours, or more. A large variety of mainly Australian food products have been tested, so statistically the number of tinned tuna tests conducted here at this stage is very small.
It obvious more widespread community and government food testing needs to be conducted.

Australia/Ukraine nuclear deal — because Fukushima turned out so well !!!

Click here to view the original post.
— ‘A uranium sales deal between the country that fuelled Fukushima and the one that gave the world Chernobyl doesn’t sound like a good idea.’

~ Dave Sweeney

EARLIER this week, without much fanfare, the Federal Parliamentary Treaties Committee recommended the conditional ratification of the nuclear co-operation agreement with Ukraine — a plan initiated by Tony Abbott and advanced by Julie Bishop.

At first glance, a uranium sales deal between the country that fuelled Fukushima and the one that gave the world Chernobyl doesn’t sound like a good idea.

And all the subsequent glances confirm that it’s not.

There are serious and unresolved nuclear security, safety and governance concerns with the plan — putting more unstable nuclear material into a deeply politically unstable part of the world, that is experiencing active armed conflict, is force-feeding risk.

In a recent ABC report, the Ukrainian ambassador to Australia, Dr Mykola Kulinich, observed that the renewed violence in Ukraine could be a “precursor to something much worse”.

No Profit From Rape & Violence. Please sign this petition.

The move to make RDVSA tender for its work is ideological and it has the potential to allow an organisation to profit from rape.

On 13 February 1800RESPECT, the national telephone and online counselling service for women, men and children experiencing domestic or sexual violence, was advertised for tender.

Since its inception, 1800RESPECT has been provided by specialist domestic violence and sexual assault trauma counsellors, employed by the Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia (RDVSA).

RDVSA has been told it must tender for this work and, despite the exceptional support it provides, is unlikely to be successful without widespread community support.

Why does RDVSA have to compete with ‘the market’ to provide life-saving support to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence?

RDVSA is a union workplace with almost all of its 100 specialist counsellors and support staff members of the Australian Services Union.

RDVSA is a feminist organisation which has been critical of this Federal Government’s approach to addressing domestic violence.

It’s not about money: in 2015 RDVSA sought an additional $2 million from the Federal Government to fund additional specialist counsellors and telephone hardware that would allow them to answer all calls- instead the Government gave $5 million to corporation Medibank Health Services (MHS) to provide a ‘triage service’ as part of 1800RESPECT.

RDVSA openly opposed this move by the Federal Government, that more specialist counsellors not a call centre was needed to support those experiencing domestic and sexual violence.

No one should be able to profit the trauma of those experiencing domestic and sexual violence.

Criminal incompetence: police & firearms

Click here to view the original post.
In 2010, the details of thousands of NSW firearms owners were downloaded on to the unsecured police intranet, available to general duties police officers, civilian volunteers and anyone else with access to the police intranet. Subsequently, there was a string of targeted thefts of firearms.

In a number of cases the thieves came equipped with cutting equipment and trolleys, removing the gun safe but not stealing other valuables in the house) gave shooters grave concern that the data had leaked to criminals. This gross breach of privacy remains un-remedied, with police instead claiming “there is no evidence to show there was a breach”…as if nobody could have copy/pasted on to a flash drive, or just printed a copy and taken it home. Sheer bloody-minded arrogance.
