12 THINGS YOU NEED TO DO AND 1 THING YOU NEED TO HAVE IF YOU GET CAUGHT UP IN A RIOT

Protesting is a right we enjoy when we live in a democracy.  Peaceful protest is considered a legitimate way of expressing the way we feel about things that are important to us, a way of letting the government know we are unhappy.

Sadly some protests turn  ugly and when they do the change can happen fast. There a variety of reasons why this occurs, from agitators who hold an opposing view infiltrating what would have remained a peaceful protest to high feelings within the protest group that things are not happening quickly enough and maybe more notice would be taken if the protest was more forceful.

If you are caught up in such a situation the reasons for the change are of little importance, getting away from the violence is the only thing that should be on your mind, you can analyse later when you have made it to safety.

Now getting out of a mob is far easier said than done, tempers are flaring, feelings running high. Law enforcement will be in the area and that in itself can pose further problems for someone caught up in an angry crowd…LEO’s won’t stop to ask politely if you are involved. So, what do you do?

Well the obvious thing to say is avoid getting caught up in it in the first place. If you see marchers coming ahead of you go the other way, even if it’s not the direction you need to be going in. Look for buildings, not glass fronted, that you can take shelter in and wait until the mob has  passed. Side alleys, gates you can get over or through and even recessed doorways will give you protection. Getting into a car, unless you have the means to drive it away isn’t a wise move and getting under a vehicle is even more unwise. Vehicles are often overturned or set on fire when people are intent on causing mayhem.

If you know that there is likely to be unrest in the area knowing alternative routes that can lead you away from the area is always prudent, carry a map of the area if you are not on home ground.

Right, back to our protest that is about to turn into a riot, if none of your avoidance tactics work what are your options?

  1. If you KNOW you are going to end up getting swept into the group stay as close to an outer edge as you can. This gives you a better chance of escape should the opportunity arise.
  2. I’m not suggesting you join in with the protest but DON’T try to reason with people, walk/move along with them offering no opinion, all the time looking for a way out of the crowd.
  3. If there is ‘wriggle room’ make your way to one side, edging your way nearer and nearer an outer edge of the group.
  4. Large and fast moving crowds cause more of a problem and as tempting as it may be to move away in the opposite direction and get out of there, unless you are on the outside of the crowd this is ill-advised. Trying to fight your way against a human tide can cause you serious injury and if you go down you will most likely be trampled underfoot.
  5. Continue moving in the same direction as the crowd but edge your way to whichever side is the nearest to getting you out of the throng. Everyone will be jostling so you going one step forwards and one step sideward will not be noticed.
  6. If that’s impossible and you are literally getting forced forward your greatest risk is from falling, a huge crowd is an irresistible force. Lace your fingers together in front of you, place your palms on your belly, thumbs on your waist pointing behind you. Move your elbows out and to the front of your body. This creates a space and prevents your chest from becoming compressed which shortens your breath, causes panic and in very large crowds can lead to suffocation.
  7. At some point the police/military will appear in front of the group. Sometimes they will try to herd everyone in a given direction, other times they will form lines to prevent the protestors from continuing on their route. This is a good indication that it’s going to turn nasty.
  8. If the crowd stops stop with them, keep your elbows out to prevent chest compression. Listen and watch the crowd. Stay calm and assess if there is any possibility of moving sideward. In large crowds some people may actually attempt to move backwards once the police are around. This relieves the pressure and can allow gaps to open up that you can utilise.
  9. Any action by law enforcement will usually cause rapid and haphazard movement in the crowd. Take advantage of this. People will often scatter in all directions simultaneously. You should head for the nearest doorway, building or alley and stay there until you have assessed the situation. At this point even sheltering behind a vehicle can give you a few seconds to think. The prime concern of the crowd at this point is to avoid water action the police are taking, not to stop and set light to a car.
  10. If there is a way to go back the way you came do so but take side roads if you can to get off the route that the protest took. Walk do not run. Running makes it more likely you will fall and more likely police will see your rapid movement which draws attention to you. At the first opportunity get off the street and stay off the street until the situation has resolved.
  11. If police have cordoned off the area around the protest laying low until restrictions have been lifted maybe your only choice if you want to avoid arrest. Many people in many countries have found it impossible to convince law enforcement that they weren’t involved in flash mobs, looting and riots. If you are dressed in a business suit and were on your way to work and the mob is generally the jeans and hoodie brigade you may be able to approach law enforcement and get out of the area. If you are dressed casually and are of the age group protesting this is far less likely regardless of your innocence. I actually know a guy who got swept into a situation like this in London. He called the police, told them he had ‘gotten swept along’. He told them who he was and where he was and they guided him to the nearest police line – where he was promptly arrested!!! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
  12. If challenged by the police or military stop and raise your hands slowly, palms outwards. Law enforcement will also be on heightened alert, this is no time for a misunderstanding. Dropping to your knees before you are asked to do so, telling them “I’m getting on my knees” shows that you are not going to attempt to flee and that you pose no threat.

Finally – if you have managed to extricate yourself from the situation but can’t yet get out of the area what do you have with you that will be of use?

We should ALL be carrying a few things with us every time we leave home regardless of where we are going and why we are going. An EDC (every day carry ) pack tucked into a backpack or even a briefcase or handbag is a must and can help us cope with anything from a vehicle breakdown to getting stuck at work because a storm has blown in.

What you have in an EDC kit will vary depending on your circumstances. If you work in a restaurant half a mile from home you can forget food and pack something else. What you pack also depends on the time of year, the terrain in your area and risks that may be relative to the area you are travelling in.

There are a few basics however that we can all find useful regardless of where we are:

  • Small flashlight with spare batteries or dynamo wind up type.
  • Sunglasses, preferably mirrored lens type. Good for snow dazzle as well as sun and for keeping wind and dust out of your eyes.
  • Fully charged battery pack for your phone.
  • Fire-starter and tinder.
  • A brightly coloured bandana.
  • Small first aid kit
  • High calorie high energy snacks
  • A bottle of water
  • Lightweight waterproof jacket
  • Flat shoes
  • A whistle, signal mirror and compass
  • Small pack of baby wipes
  • Cash in small denomination notes

Having basic items with you all the time makes sense. So many people have been left in desperate situations and have had nothing with them to help them out. Looking after your own needs when the unexpected happens allows you to calmly take stock and consider your options.

You are not having to look for or scavenge a meal or drink, you can start a fire and you have a map. It buys you time to either shelter until the danger has passed or start your journey to safety. You have a means to communicate, a kit to deal with minor injuries and a whistle and signal mirror to attract attention. You are, albeit in a very basic manner, prepared for the unexpected as long as you have the kit with you.

It beats being thirsty, incommunicado and hopeful that someone with a band aid will come and attend to the cut on your hand.

War With China Is Far More Likely Than You Think — Report

War With China Is Far More Likely Than You Think -- Report

There is a stronger possibility of an accidental shooting that sparks a war between the United States and China than most Americans believe, according to a new report by the Rand Corporation, a global think thank that specializes in military issues.

The nonprofit institution’s report, titled War with China: Thinking Through the Unthinkable, details why the chances of such a conflict continue to grow.

“While neither state wants war, both states’ militaries have plans to fight one,” the report says. “As Chinese anti-access and area-denial (A2AD) capabilities improve, the United States can no longer be so certain that war would follow its plan and lead to decisive victory.”

China’s anti-access strategy aims to prevent countries, such as the United States, from operating militarily from a fixed land base, while its anti-denial strategy seeks to make the sea so dangerous that the US military won’t enter.

Be Prepared. Get The ULTIMATE Food Protection Plan

The Rand Corporation is not part of the government, although it is regarded as a major generator of thought for the US military, Reuters Global Affairs commentator Peter Apps noted. Rand is, though, partially funded by the government.

Both sides, the report says, “would suffer large military losses in a severe conflict.”

Story continues below video

“In 2015, U.S. losses could be a relatively small fraction of forces committed, but still significant; Chinese losses could be much heavier than U.S. losses and a substantial fraction of forces committed,” the report said. “This gap in losses will shrink as Chinese A2AD improves. By 2025, U.S. losses could range from significant to heavy; Chinese losses, while still very heavy, could be somewhat less than in 2015, owing to increased degradation of U.S. strike capabilities.”

China’s anti-access and area-denial (A2AD) capabilities will “make it increasingly difficult for the United States to gain military-operational dominance and victory,” the report says.

The report lists several ways a conflict between the two countries could start:

  • China could try to “intimidate its neighbors below the threshold of U.S. intervention, yet misjudge where that threshold is.”
  • China could “underestimate U.S. willingness to back Japan militarily in a crisis over disputed territory in the East China Sea.”
  • China’s claim of sovereignty in the South China Sea and the United States’ insistence that the waters are international “could bring forces into close and hazardous proximity if either side opts to enforce its stance.”

The report notes that China has “been building artificial islands, airstrips, and other militarily useful infrastructure” in the South China Sea — and claiming the areas are China’s alone.

“The United States will not accept this because it runs afoul of several U.S. interests: the principle of peaceful settlement of disputes, the principle of freedom of the seas, the fact that some 40 percent of world trade passes through the South China Sea, and the expectations of the Philippines and other U.S. friends that the United States will not condone Chinese unilateral action,” the report says.

As “horrific” as a China-US war could be, the report says, “it cannot be considered implausible.”

Civil Air Patrol For Prepper/Survival Training

Civil Air Patrol survival training

When our young teen son told us he wanted to join the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), I thought my wife was going to lock him up in a cage. She had visions of him marching off to war on his 18th birthday and her mom instinct kicked in, I guess.

A year later, she is proud of her newly promoted Technical Sergeant and all the training he has received in just little more than a year.

Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary arm of the U.S. Air Force and is run by volunteers. The organization is open to boys and girls starting at age 12. Adults can also join as Senior Members and receive much of the same training available to the younger members. In fact, Senior Members are very welcome to join as many of them become regular attendees at meetings and volunteer at events to help coordinate.

Just some of the training available in CAP is an initial Encampment, which is their version of boot camp. My son learned teamwork, critical thinking, how to work and think under pressure, and a more regimented life than he experiences at home. When we picked him up from Encampment, he was beaming. My wife had worried that being yelled at by his senior officers would be traumatic, but the opposite happened. He thrived under pressure. As a dad, that was good to see.

Since then, he’s gone on to get training in basic and intermediate first aid, ground search and rescue, building wilderness shelters, knot tying, rapelling, water purification, setting up campsites, campfire cooking, and much, much more. He’s flown in a tiny 4-seater airplane and has crawled across a river, hanging from a rope.

I’m impressed with the variety of training CAP offers, and many classes teach skills and knowledge important for survival and preparedness. One series of classes teaches the basics of air traffic control, another teaches communications. Wilderness First Aid, wilderness survival, emergency response training — these are just a very, very few of the trainings and classes offered, and all at very low prices.

Our son spent a full week in training for ground search and rescue, and we paid just a little over $200. He came home a little more confident, a lot more informed about search and rescue, and covered from ankle to waist in chigger bites from a nighttime crawl through the woods. He had a blast and was darn proud of those bites!

If you’re looking for some excellent, high quality training in numerous areas related to survival and prepping, take a look at Civil Air Patrol. Along with what you get out of the deal, you’ll end up trained to help out as a volunteer in all types of natural disasters and other emergencies.

World War 3 & The South China Sea: 6 Things You Better Know

World War 3 & The South China Sea: 6 Things You Better Know

The red line shows China’s territorial claim, which an international court ruled was illegitimate. Image source: Wikipedia

A war between the United States and China over the South China Sea dispute is far more likely than you might think.

Some observers believe a new international court decision makes such a conflict even more likely.

Unfortunately, the US media has largely ignored this development, even though some observers believe it might lead to an armed conflict – even World War III.

Here is what you should know:

1. The conflict involves the South China Sea, which China claims is part of its territory. The US, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and other nations say the area is international waters and therefore open to all countries to use. The Chinese claim they have the right to block other nations’ navies and air forces from operating in the region. Both China and the Philippines, a close American ally, claim the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. Chinese military forces have occupied some of the islands and started building fortified bases there. The bases include ports and airstrips.

2. The Philippines sued China at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands – and won. The court July 12 ruled that China has no rights to the islands and was in violation of international law with its actions. China, so far, has ignored the ruling.

Be Prepared! Store An ‘Emergency Seed Bank’ For A Crisis Garden

The US maintains it has the right to operate its military forces in the region. The Chinese are not backing down.

“We in China would not be intimidated by the U.S. actions, not even if the U.S. sent all 10 aircraft carriers to the South China Sea,” said Dai Bingguo, former state councilor of China. He said the court’s ruling “amounts to nothing more than a piece of waste paper.”

Story continues below video

The risk for the US, he said, “is that it may be dragged into trouble against its own will and pay an unexpectedly heavy price.”

3. China is deploying military forces – including nuclear submarines. The Chinese Navy closed off a portion of the South China Sea for maneuvers on July 18, the Associated Press reported. The Chinese Coast Guard is keeping Philippine fishing boats away from a contested shoal.

China’s Liberation Air Force released a picture of one of its H-6K bombers flying over Scarborough Shoal, one of the islands on July 14, Forbes reported. The H-6K is capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

China is a major naval power. The US Office of Naval Intelligence reports that the Chinese People’s Liberation Navy operates five nuclear-powered attack submarines, four nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines and more than 50 diesel-electric attack submarines.

China is set to deploy nuclear submarines in the region, which increases the possibility of an accident.

4. The US Navy is patrolling in the area, increasing the possibility of conflict.

“With the US Navy sailing more and more in the area, there’s a high possibility there will be an accident,” an unidentified Chinese Navy officer told Newsweek.

Story continues below video

China’s military power is no match for America’s at present – but that doesn’t mean a conflict won’t happen. It also assumes other nations won’t get involved. As Newsweek noted, “history is riddled with wars that appeared to make no sense.”

Discover The Secrets Of The Word’s Top Survivalists!

A dangerous wild card in the South China Sea is Russia. The Morning Post reported that the Japanese government is studying the possibility of naval cooperation between Russia and China in the South China Sea. Russia is selling China large amounts of modern weaponry, including fighter jets and missile defense systems.

5. There is popular support within China for a tough stance in the South China Sea. Some observers think the government of current Chinese President Xi Jinping could lose popular support and collapse if he does not get tough with the US.

“The people won’t tolerate it if we lose territory yet again,” Fu Ying, a spokeswoman for China’s National People’s Congress told Newsweek, referencing wars from the past 150 years. “We’ve lost enough.”

6. The conflict is routed in history. Many Chinese view the South China Sea as their territory, because Chinese emperors claimed the body of water as part of their empire. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the Chinese felt humiliated when British, Japanese and American navies took control of the South China Sea. Some Chinese patriots view the reoccupation of the South China Sea as the beginning of the rise of their nation to superpower status. Part of this worldview is the belief that China will one day supplant America as the world’s dominant power.

Special Operations forces from the United States and more than a dozen other countries took part in a mock mission in downtown Tampa last week in an operation that drew applause from some but concern from others.

The troops from the U.S. and countries such as Ireland and Jordan “jumped out of helicopters, rappelled from buildings and expended hundreds of rounds of ammunition” as they pretended to rescue the mayor of Tampa, The Washington Post reported.

The operation involving Navy SEALs, Marine Raiders and Green Berets was part of the Special Forces Industry Conference, a trade show for the world’s commandos that drew 12,000 people.

“This type of mission would be undertaken during the cover of darkness,” an announcer told a crowd. “The sniper over watch team is equipped with high-powered rifles that can hit a target from more than a mile away.”

Bombshell Book Reveals… How To Survive The Coming Martial Law In America

The “mission” was to rescue Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn from mock pirates armed with AK-47 semiautomatic rifles.

Thousands of spectators watched the event and cheered, The Post reported, and afterward some even had their pictures taken with the few troops who were allowed to talk to the media. Some of the troops who didn’t pose for the cameras covered their faces so they would not be seen, The Post reported.

The rescuers were supported by helicopter gunships, a rubber boat equipped with a .50 caliber machine gun and a Blackhawk helicopter.

“A lot of what we do is a bit secretive, we don’t really advertise much of what we do and there is a reason for it,” US Special Forces Lt. Col. Chris Robeshaw told reporters following the Tampa event. “I think … this is maybe a stark reminder that there are young men and women out there putting themselves at risk.”

But the operation touched off an interesting debate on social media and in the comments section on The Post website.

“Why are soldiers from other countries doing this here? Answer: They’re practicing tactics to put the American population under control (martial law),” one person wrote. “Why don’t they do this in, say, Russia? Or Venezuela? Or even Germany, with its horrendous illegal invasion? It’s bad enough having U.S. soldiers practicing their martial law tactics here. But GET THOSE FOREIGN TROOPS OUT!”

Wrote another person, “No big deal; just a little martial law training plus perhaps testing the efficacy of Posse Comitatus.”

Others, though, supported the drill.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to join in the applause,” the person wrote. “These men and women keep us safe in a very dangerous world. Without a strong U.S. military force, many outside of the U.S. would not enjoy the freedoms they have today.”

What Does The Bible Say About Forcing Women To Register For The Draft?

OK, ladies, I need to preface everything I am about to say with this …

You are not the “weaker sex.” Any thoughts I have concerning women in combat have absolutely nothing to do with any thought that you, as a gender, are less capable of serving in the military. Women can, and have, performed admirably in military roles around the world.

But even though the military has opened these jobs to women, should we require women – as the top officers in the Army and Marine Corps believe — to register for Selective Service, potentially opening America’s daughters, sisters and even moms to a future draft?

My answer is a resounding NO!

Christian Heroes For Christian Kids: These Amazing Stories Are Putting God Back Into History!

There are many that argue that if women want total equality, they should accept equality of risk, as well. I do not share this thought in the least. While I believe very strongly in equality of pay and opportunity, and a level playing field professionally, I also believe that the traditional gender roles are supported by common sense and Scripture. It is the duty of men to guard women, but not because they are “weaker.” Quite the contrary, because ladies are much stronger than us in certain areas. These are very important areas –and areas that should be guarded at all costs.

Let’s begin by looking at a passage out of Proverbs:

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” … Proverbs 31:25-30 (ESV)

What Does The Bible Say About Requiring Women To Sign Up For The Draft?Do we want to subject women — our repository of the teaching of kindness — to the possibility of being drafted into military service in a combat role? Do we wish to make women as base and war-like as men? If we allow equality to go this far, who will teach our children in the ways of kindness and godliness? In this, I feel that protecting women from this fate does not make them any less equal, but instead makes them more than equal. The world needs women of a Godly spirit to raise up future generations to expand the Kingdom of God on Earth, and this spirit is not fostered in a combat zone.

Let’s look at another passage:

For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of his body, the church; he gave his life to be her Savior. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives must submit to your husbands in everything.

And you husbands must love your wives with the same love Christ showed the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by baptism and God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man is actually loving himself when he loves his wife. No one hates his own body but lovingly cares for it, just as Christ cares for his body, which is the church. And we are his body.

As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.  Ephesians 5:23-32 (NLT)

Here we see that the marriage relationship, the fundamental unit of the family and God’s plan for men and women, is likened to Christ’s relationship to the Church.

Want To Know About The REAL Constitution And What The Founders Truly Intended?

Men are called upon to lay down everything, even our lives if needed, in caring for our wives. Again, not because women are weak or frail, but because they have strengths and virtues that are worthy of being preserved. By maintaining these strengths, men become better, families become better, children are made better, and God’s plan is furthered. Here, too, these strengths and virtues are not furthered in a combat zone.

In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands, even those who refuse to accept the Good News. Your godly lives will speak to them better than any words. They will be won over by watching your pure, Godly behavior.

Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty … You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God … In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat her with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. If you don’t treat her as you should, your prayers will not be heard. 1 Peter 3:1-5, 7 (NLT)

Despite how it first may appear, it is clear that subjugation of women is not God’s will. Once again, we see that women have been given the very important role of softening men to God’s intentions. Women have been gifted with Godly kindness, wisdom and giving hearts, and they have been tasked with instilling these virtues in their men. It is readily apparent that the role women play is arguably – in many areas of life — more important in many ways than the roles played by men. I will submit one more time that these virtues are not fostered in a combat zone.

Scripturally, it is clear that subjecting women to the potential of being drafted into military service is not in keeping with God’s design. Do we really want our precious daughters, sisters and moms drafted into combat? What type of society does that?

Should women be permitted to serve in the military? Yes. I think that they should, but only by choice. But Selective Service registration and a draft for women in general? Absolutely not.

Stories that take remind us why self reliance is so important, that inspire us to do even better and work harder and for that inspiration we must be grateful. A New Reality and A New Kind of Doctor: Urban Battlefield Medic

Click here to view the original post.

Amid the human and personal stories being revealed in the aftermath of the San Bernardino terrorist attack comes a rather intriguing one.  It is the story of Dr. Michael Neeki, a trauma physician and emergency room doctor at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) in Colton, California, where many of the victims of that tragedy were transported.

Dr. Neeki at a press conference for the
victims of the San Bernardino terrorist attack.

But Dr. Neeki wears many hats.  He is the chief medical officer of San Bernardino County’s probation department and also volunteers as a member of the Inland Valley SWAT team.  He is the only physician/medic on the team, and he trains alongside his fellow SWAT team members for just such a scenario as San Bernardino.  And he is uniquely qualified.
He was born in Iran and drafted into the Iran/Iraq war at age 18.  He served his native country in war and believes this gives him valuable experience in treating victims of gun violence, or as he puts it, “[I am] mentally and tactically a little more experienced than the other physicians here.”  But in 1988, he was forced to leave his homeland after suffering as a political prisoner because of his opposition to the increasingly radical and religious Iranian regime.  Twenty-seven years later, in his adopted homeland of America, he put those skills and mindset to work as he labored, not only to mend and heal, the victims of San Bernardino, but to protect them from the rampage.
When the first calls went out, he grabbed his rifle and tactical equipment and headed for the “hot zone”, where he could put his tactical training to good use, as well as utilizing the medical pack that he carries.  “You have to be ready to put in a tourniquet to avoid the bleeding, or quickly staple a wound in the field. Or use an Israeli bandage, which is a compression dressing. I also have a clotting factor you could put in a lesion.”
So now, as a member of the Rialto SWAT team, he is working to upgrade the medical assistance that his team members can deliver in the field.  He’s certified to carry a gun and participates in the team’s tactical drills.  His experience on the battlefield is increasingly valuable today because injuries such as those seen in the San Bernardino shootings have become more common. “So, we saw this rifle injury-type pattern, which rips and shreds apart organs in your body, tissues in the body, and vessels as they’re going through.”
Sadly, this is becoming the reality that our emergency medicine doctors must face.  I fear that the attacks in California last week will not be the last.  Western civilization’s enemy has made it clear that they wish to inflict as much carnage as they are able to, and that they are not limiting their attacks to Europe.  Therefore, because of his unique background and experience, Dr. Neeki now wants to expand the emergency medicine residency at ARMC to give young doctors the exposure they need to such mass casualties, and at the same time, elevate the skill levels of [SWAT] paramedic team members.
Dr. Neeki envisions ARMC residents (and doctors throughout the country) playing roles in the developing field of tactical medicine by connecting with area SWAT teams.  He said it is important for SWAT team paramedics to have advanced training in wound care, airway management techniques, and procedures for spinal injuries.  Since these first responders are obviously the first on the scene, they are invaluable in providing immediate front-line medical care to the victims of such attacks.  Precious life-saving moments will not be lost waiting for ambulances to arrive to transport the wounded and injured.
As much as we don’t want to admit it, we must change the dynamic of how we will treat these urban mass casualty events.  It is likely that doctors will become part healer and part soldier; prepared to imitate battlefield medicine that their counterparts do in the war zones of Afghanistan and Iraq.  If like, Dr. Neeki, they actually have military experience, they can be trained to both defend the public and save lives.
Training medical professionals to become soldiers will not sit well with every American.  But for Americans like Dr. Michael Neeki, who is now a U.S. citizen, being on-scene to treat the trauma from gunshot wounds in those first crucial seconds is one of the reasons he thinks doctors should be members of first-reponder units.  “I am here because I came for democracy,” said Dr. Neeki.  “It’s sad to see that you come miles from across the world, and to see something like that here… [But I want] to show ISIS what we are made of.”
We must face it — Tactical medicine is the new reality, whether we like it or not.  And I believe it is a good thing that Iranian-Americans like Dr. Michael Neeki are willing to show us how to better save lives.  Yes, the worst of the Middle East was seen in that conference room in San Bernardino last week, but we also saw the best of those who have come to this country, seeking the freedom we have to offer, and with a desire to pay back this society and nation who have given them such great opportunities.   You see, blind hatred does not belong to just one ethnic group or nationality.  It is the hallmark of the Evil One, and can permeate any soul.  But our God can take someone out of that same cesspool of hatred and shape a heart committed to defending and healing his fellow man.
The world is seeing a new reality — one that has us all on edge.  But never dismiss the goodness and mercy of the Lord that shines through one man’s actions.  That is showing what our God is made of!

Proverbs 24:11    Rescue those being taken off to death, and save those stumbling toward slaughter.

Food During Out of Town Moves and Fringe Benefits of Stocking Supplies

Click here to view the original post.
Someone asked about what I do with stored food during moves. The fridge/ freezer stuff is easy it gets eaten, given away or tossed. The long term shelf stable stuff like 5 gallon buckets are easy, it sucks but you move them. That might not work for an international move but the effort and cost to buy then sell a ton or two of food multiple times is unpleasant. The mid range pantry stuff (rice, canned goods, boxed stuff, etc) is a bit more complicated. I try to eat up as much as I can and move as much of the rest as I can.

Military movers will take unopened shelf stable stuff (CONUS). I wouldn’t suggest taking anything fragile (glass jars, etc) but cans and buckets are fine.

[Do note that if you are pushing the limit this sort of food is heavy and busting your weight allowance is expensive. I would not be moving a dozen cases of canned food and a ton of rice n beans if we were anywhere close to the limit. For lower enlisted folks weight allowances are pretty low so this probably be a good plan. The amount of food I will move is probably a third or half a lower enlisted guys total weight allowance. One of the many places where the military is not fair.]

Right now I am in the eating it up phase. However since I had food for 4 and there is 1 of me it isn’t going great. I’ll probably end up taking some stuff to good will or giving it away. Losing a few hundred bucks of food every couple years is a cost of being a survivalist in the military. One of the many places where that is a hassle. Such is life.

Also moving my ammo stash sucks.  Get a bit of .308/7.62×51, decent stash of 5.56 and 9mm, a bunch of 7.62×39 and 12 gauge and it adds up fast. Ammo I have to haul myself which is a hassle.

I am open to input here but as I’ve done this a couple times so odds are high my plan is about solidified.

I am also trying to work through some other stores such as gasoline before the trip.

A fringe benefit of this stuff is for the last 2 weeks my grocery bill has been very low. Until I leave I will only be buying milk and fresh fruit/ veggies at the store so the bill will be even lower. Also started using up the gasoline. So my bills for fuel and food are going to be very low for awhile. A happy accident as finances are in a state of flux.

I also realized this could be a fringe benefit of preparedness. If you have a months food and gas stashed that means you could live off stores and put cash to stuff you definitely have to pay for like say rent and utilities. In a personal SHTF this would let you stretch existing cash reserves to keep things going longer. Of course you would be depleting stores which would either need to be replaced or your preparedness level would drop. Options are a good thing.

So stocking up on food, fuel, etc all has a variety of benefits. You should do that.

Hope everyone’s weeks is going well. Had a few minutes so wanted to touch base.

Yesterday was really touching to see the outpouring support for Veterans. I have mentioned this before but I did not serve. It is a regret I consider often. I have always appreciated what men and women of the armed forces have done for this country. My father was a Vet and I loved hearing stories of his time in basic training and the camaraderie he had with fellow soldiers.

I saw comments rolling in here and checked Instagram and Facebook periodically. Lots of stories, memories and appreciation shared.

Throughout social media there were also lots of comments regarding today’s generation and the degrading respect for the country itself, the American flag, and all that many brave men and women have sacrificed for. I agree. The entitlement minded today lack the understanding and respect for the country that should be there. The reasons are many and that is for another day.

What I do know is most everyone I have ever met and know now respect the hell out of the military and all those that serve and have served. While many things about this country are screwed at least the respect for the military hasn’t totally dissipated.

As Capt. Michaels provided  – this video is very fitting……

Thoughts On This Veteran’s Day …

Click here to view the original post.

As I contemplate the ongoing service of our nation’s military veterans, I am nearly overcome with emotion.  This nation has been at war for over 14 years, and the continued dedication of most of our military personnel — in the face of exhaustion, dismantlement, disrespect, and dishonor from the likes of the Veterans Administration — amazes and astonishes me.
We have fought in big wars under a Republican President (Afghanistan and Iraq), and small wars under a Democratic President (Libya and Yemen, for the obvious ones), and it has cost us nearly 7,000 lives and billions of dollars.   Unlike the last World War, there doesn’t seem to be an end goal in sight, and the path to victory seems blurred.  Yet the men and women who fight in our armed forces remain steadfast and unwavering in their commitment to defend this nation from enemies foreign and domestic.  And in that, they share the legacy of all those who have come before them.
Would it astound you to know that the total number of Americans killed in U.S. Wars is more than 1.1 million?  And that doesn’t take into account the veterans who fought in the French & Indian War before this nation officially existed.  And would it further amaze you to know that America has been at war — in one form or another — for 222 out of its 239 years?  That’s 93% of its existence!!  That leaves us with the fact that we have only been at peace for 21 years since the birth of this nation! (For a year-by-year timeline of America’s major wars from 1776-2011, click here.)  Whether these statistics mirror the experience of all mankind is a subject for another day; today I want to focus on those who have served our nation in armed combat.
Along with those facts come the statistics of our fallen veterans … Nearly half a million died in our Civil War, and over 400,000 in World War II; and, as I mentioned, we have lost nearly 7,000 veterans in the Global War on Terror.  These are the statistics coming from the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
As exemplified by the numbers, about 12% of the population served during WW II, resulting in the fact that most Americans were likely to know or be connected to someone in the military.  Today, less than 1% serve, and there is the danger that our society is suffering from a disconnect — we are less likely to know what is going on, someone who has served, or what they have experienced.
Gala True, a medical anthropologist and folklorist with the Department of Veterans Affairs and contributor to the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project, says, “So few have served, that it’s very easy for people to say that ‘I didn’t want these wars,’ but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t all part of this [experience of war]”.  So that is one aspect that is different for this generation of veterans.
Author James Fallows, of The Atlantic, writes, “When I was a kid in the ’50s and ’60s and then older in the ’70s, American pop culture reflected a country familiar enough with its military to make fun of it at times. You had shows like “Gomer Pyle,” or “Hogan’s Heroes,” or “”McHale’s Navy.”  You had works of art like “South Pacific” or novels like “Catch 22″ and even movies like “MASH.” {These films] respected the importance of the military and the important things it did that were heroic in the large scale, like World War II, but it was still made of real people with their real foibles.  But now we have started to have this artificially reverent view of the military that’s also distant and disengaged.”
There is another important distinction that separates this generation of Americans from those of the past.  During World War II, even if you didn’t actively serve, you participated, through rationing, scrap drives, blood drives, and so on.  Everyone was connected to the war effort.  And everyone believed in our mission.
Can we agree that this is no longer the case?  Or that it is becoming increasingly difficult to identify our mission?  There are those who will point to our astounding statistics of war since WW I — the cost in treasure and lives — and say that it points to our lust for war, and supports a 2014 International Gallup poll that America is the #1 threat to peace in the world.  I dispute that.  But I must admit that I no longer have a clear vision of our national leaders and their perspective or objectives concerning this nation’s involvement in world conflicts.
That being said, my support for our nation’s veterans will never waver.  I am in awe of their continued sacrifice and willingness to put the safety and security of this nation before themselves and their families.  It is an unselfish act to step into the gap between their fellow countrymen and an enemy that desires to defeat us — and it is both honorable and righteous.
So I salute all this nation’s veterans; from the first colonial farmer who grabbed his musket and joined the ragtag Continental Army, to the millions who have served over the last 239 years; from the 18-year-old recruit at boot camp to the elite fighting forces of our special operations units.  This salute is not about the morality of wars we have fought, or the policies of Presidents.  It is about the veterans.  They have served so that others might live their lives free.  Such service by an individual towards his fellow man deserves our absolute respect.  May God Bless you all for your sacrifice and your commitment to our nation.

Isaiah 6:8    And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

What Is The State Of Our Military?

Click here to view the original post.

I took a good look at a recent survey of our U.S. Military by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank based in Washington, D.C.  The highlights of their 2016 Index of U.S. Military Strength revealed some interesting ratings.
For instance they ranked U.S. Military Power as “marginal”, with the Army rating a “weak” score. Considering that the Army is the largest branch of our Armed Forces, that should make us sit up and take notice.
And if that’s not enough to make you uneasy, here is how they rated Threats to U.S. Vital Interests:   Iran and the Middle East received an “Elevated” ranking; Russia, China, and terrorism associated with Afghanistan/Pakistan received a rating of “High”; and North Korea was rated as “Severe”.  It should not be surprising that the Heritage Foundation found these nations to be particularly aggressive during 2015, and they expect that the rapid modernization and expansion of their offensive military capabilities will make these especially worrisome continuing into 2016.  Russia’s swift and vigorous involvement in the Middle East is evidence that these predictions are most likely on the mark.
And which of us have any faith in the so-called pact with Iran over their nuclear proliferation?  Does anyone really believe that they intend to honor any treaty they have made?  They have said as much; that they will continue on the path towards nuclear weapons development and the annihilation of Israel.

So all this makes the Heritage Foundation’s assessment of U.S. Military Power more relevant.  I want you to read, word-for-word, their evaluation …. “Finally, we assessed the military power of the United States in three areas: capability, capacity, and readiness. These three areas of assessment are central to the overarching questions of whether the U.S. has a sufficient quantity of appropriately modern military power and whether military units are able to conduct military operations on demand and effectively.
The common theme across the services and the United States’ nuclear enterprise is one of force degradation resulting from many years of underinvestment, poor execution of modernization programs, and the negative effects of budget sequestration (cuts in funding) on readiness and capacity. While the military has been heavily engaged in operations, primarily in the Middle East but elsewhere as well, since September 11, 2001, experience is both ephemeral and context-sensitive. Valuable combat experience is lost over time as the servicemembers who individually gained experience leave the force, and it maintains direct relevance only for future operations of a similar type. Thus, though the current Joint Force is experienced in some types of operations, it is still aged and shrinking in its capacity for operations.”
The Army is “weak” because of a drop in the number of combat-ready troops.  The Navy’s fleet is diminished and struggling to meet operational demands.  The index score for the Air Force dropped from “strong” to “marginal”, due to a degradation in capability and readiness.  The fighting competence of the Marines is superb, but it is hampered by aging equipment; troubled replacement programs for its key ground vehicles (particularly its amphibious personnel carriers); and a shrinking force.  (That’s why it is so difficult to see ISIS driving around the Middle East in our abandoned military trucks and equipment).  Perhaps the most alarming finding of the Heritage Foundation’s survey was the greater need to modernize U.S. nuclear capabilities, particularly with regard to aging delivery systems. Continued reliance on legacy systems such as the B-52 will eventually diminish the effectiveness of the nuclear enterprise of our military and lead to the deterioration of our nation’s ability to deter a nuclear attack.
The overall picture that the Heritage Foundation painted was one of a U.S. military force capable of meeting the demands of a single major regional conflict, while also managing various “presence” and “engagement” activities.  BUT, they also concluded that our military would be very hard-pressed to do more than that, and certainly would be ill-equipped to handle two nearly simultaneous major regional incidents.
The bottom line is this:  The consistent decline in funding and the consequent shrinking of our armed forces have placed it under significant pressure.  Essential maintenance of equipment continues to be deferred; fewer units (mostly the Navy’s platforms and the Special Operations Forces community) are being cycled through operational deployments more often, and for longer periods; and old equipment is being extended while programmed replacements are problematic.
Let’s face it.  Add all these factors together, and we have a U.S. military that is “marginally” able to meet the demands of defending America’s vital national interests.  So what does this say about the Military-Industrial Complex?  Either they have been gutted by the decimation of funding for our forces; or the corruption is so extensive throughout the Government and Pentagon, that pockets are being lined while the lives of our combat troops are ignored and exploited.  Either way, the common defense of the nation seems to have collapsed, or even been deliberately sacrificed.
At times like this, I always wonder what the intention was at the founding of our nation.  How would the Founders have viewed the state in which we find our military and national defense?  Consider what James Madison had to say:  “In time of actual war, great discretionary powers are constantly given to the Executive Magistrate. Constant apprehension of War, has the same tendency to render the head too large for the body. A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defence against foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people … Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied: and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals, engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”
So where does this leave us?  Certainly, war seems to have been the ever-present companion of man for the last century.  But even in the Old Testament, war was prominent, and often seen as “holy”; often declared by God.  And we are all familiar with the Scripture in Ecclesiastes that says “there is a time for war, and a time for peace.”  Ever since St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) formulated the theory of the Just War, it seems that man has rationalized his way into ever-increasing states of war.  To be honest, I don’t have a crystal ball to see where our decline in military strength and capability leads us.  Will the next Presidential election change the direction we are headed?  Or is it too late?  Has our weakness been exploited past the time of no return?  Only God sees the future.  All I know is that I long for His Peace and the absence of all the Evil I see.  But I also know that there has to be one final War on Earth before the Prince of Peace comes to reign.  Perhaps we are seeing the world line up, and build up, towards that final conflagration?

My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.  ~ John F. Kennedy

One of, if not the most famous quotes in American history, President Kennedy’s words have resonated with me throughout my life.  From a very early age, regardless of what my personal goals or intentions were, I always had this idea of a purpose greater than self in the back of my mind.  Now make no mistake, my rearing has a great deal to do with this perspective, but I guess nothing crystallizes my deeply held notion of others before self more clearly than President Kennedy’s famous words.  There have been times during my life that I wondered exactly how I was supposed to best answer this clarion call and I have struggled to find that answer, but even when the best path forward was unclear I always understood which general direction I was supposed to be heading.  I know this because I have always applied this idea to every aspect of my life.  Whether acting as a son, a brother, a teammate, a leader, a husband and even now as a father, I ask myself, what can I do to help?  How can I best be of service to those in my life in a given situation.   Later in life, during my college years, I was exposed to the idea of the Servant Leader and it changed my life.  To this day, I strive to live out the ideals that Robert K. Greenleaf first laid out in his writings on the nature of servant leadership and character and through this effort I have found that it is I that have been blessed.

United States 4-Star General (ret.) Stanley McChrystal, a man former Defense Secretary Robert Gates described as “perhaps the finest warrior and leader of men in combat I (have) ever met.”, points out that only 1% of Americans serve their country via traditional avenues like the military and asks the question, “What does it mean to be a citizen?”  What does it mean to be a citizen in America or any other country for that matter.  In the United States there are many benefits to citizenship to be certain, but qualification for citizenship basically breaks down to two qualifiers:

  1. Do you have the right to vote?
  2. Do you pay taxes?

The reality here in the United States is that there are years where 50-plus percent of the citizens do neither.  This brings us back to General McChrystal’s original question, “What does it mean to be a citizen?”  Do we owe our country anything in return for the privilege of citizenship?

For General McChrystal the answer is yes and he offers a simple solution:  National Service.  This position is what motivated General McChrystal to lead the effort in the creation of the Franklin Project at the Aspen Institute in 2013.  Learn more about their story and hear from General McChrystal himself HERE and HERE.

The Franklin Project envisions a future in which a year of full-time national service—a service year—is a cultural expectation, a common opportunity, and a civic rite of passage for every young American.

Here is a two-page pdf flyer that explains the power of a service year and the importance of the work that The Franklin Project is doing.

I happen to agree with General McChrystal that the very idea that is at the center of the foundation of what made America great, the concept that we are all looking out for and working toward the greater good of our community and the country as a whole, has somehow become disconnected from our people and is rapidly eroding right beneath our feet.  That is why I fully support The Franklin Project in their efforts.  Listen to some other folks that believe in the idea of service have to say on the subject…..

I believe that it is only through the blessing of service to others that we can truly realize the power of our own humanity.  This power is truly great and it really can change the world.  General McChrystal and The Franklin Project are working at a national level with the idea of a Year of Service, but I want to encourage you to think about this in a different way and bring it down to street level right where you live.

There are people all around us that are taking action on what has been laid upon their heart, enriching the American tapestry by doing their part to make their community, their state and their country a better place.  They are working as volunteers, mentors, coaches, police officers, firemen, teachers, nurses, doctors, librarians and after school leaders.  They are our elders that take the time to share a bit of what they know with a younger generation.  They are sharing knowledge and teaching skills like amateur radio, basic first aid, community disaster response, gardening and basic preparedness.  All across our country, there are individuals doing amazing things…large and small…every day to help create the world they want to see.  Folks that are becoming the change they believe is necessary to make the world a better place for themselves and others.   Some of these people are more obvious in their efforts because they wear a uniform or a they have a title, but there are far more of us out here in the fields doing real work that also classify as the every day heroes our world needs to save the day and forge a new way forward.  As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”  In other words, there is no one way to make the world a better place.  No one has an exclusivity on good ideas or the desire to help others.  Just get started.  Today.

There aren’t many holidays or parades for our every day champions of the common citizen.  I believe that each and every person that is out there doing the hard work of building a better future for themselves and the rest of us deserves to be recognized for their efforts.  In an upcoming blog post I will be making an announcement that will lay out a way that you can do exactly that.  A way that each of us can recognize those in our personal lives, as well as in our communities that are going above and beyond in the pursuit of a better America.  Please keep an eye on this space for that announcement.  Until then, if you would like to further gain a better understanding of my position, my motivations and offer another perspective on why I feel the way I do, you can check out this video.  And this one too.  Talk to you soon.

When Morals Override Policy

Click here to view the original post.

Let me give you a quote from our first President, George Washington.  It is a single sentence from his first Inaugural Address, given on April 30, 1789.  He said, “The foundations of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutable (unchanging) principles of private morality, and the preeminence (superiority) of free government be exemplified by all the attributes which can win the affections of its citizens, and command the respect of the world.”

SFC Charles Martland

This quote is the basis on which I am declaring my support for Charles Martland. In case you do not know who he is, Sergeant 1st Class Charles Martland, is a member of the Green Beret Special Forces, who is being separated involuntarily from the U.S. Army for kicking and body slamming an Afghan police commander he describes as a “brutal child rapist.”
According to Martland and other members of our U.S. forces, the apparent culture of [sexual] abuse has caused the Afghan population to view the Afghan Local Police (ALP) and the U.S. soldiers who back and train them, as worse than the Taliban – offering serious blowback to the already challenged U.S. mission in Afghanistan.
According to an article in The New York Times, rampant sexual abuse of children by Afghan officers — otherwise known as “bacha bazi” or “boy play” — isn’t new. While some U.S. soldiers and Marines have specifically been told not to intervene, they have chosen to do so anyway in the face of potential disciplinary action.  Hence, we have the story of SFC Martland and former Captain Daniel Quinn, who were disciplined by the Army after they beat a powerful local police official who they concluded had been raping a small boy.  Such discipline is allegedly part of the unspoken requirement from the Chain of Command to ignore such activities among the local Afghan allies; you know …. “just look the other way because it’s their culture.”
But let me quote SFC Martland’s side of the story, and then you tell me if you could turn a blind eye and ear to such immoral acts.  Quinn and Martland were told by a young Afghan boy and his mother, through an Afghan interpreter, that the boy had been tied to a post at the home of Afghan Local Police commander Abdul Rahman and raped repeatedly for up to two weeks. When his mother tried to stop the attacks, they told the soldiers, Rahman’s brother beat her. Quinn says he verified the story with other ALP commanders from neighboring villages. Then they invited Rahman to the camp to discuss the allegations.
“After the child rapist laughed it off and referenced that it was only a boy, Captain Quinn picked him up and threw him,” Martland writes. Martland then proceeded to “body slam him multiple times,” kick him in the rib cage, and put his foot on his neck. “I continued to body slam him and throw him for fifty meters until he was outside the camp,” Martland writes. “He was never knocked out, and he ran away from our camp.” The incident lasted no more than five minutes, he says.
Quinn told CNN that they took the action they took because otherwise nothing would be done by the Army or local authorities. “The reason we weren’t able to step in with these local rape cases was we didn’t want to undermine the authority of the local government,” he said. “We were trying to build up the local government. Us acting after the local government fails to can certainly undermine their credibility…. Even when we patiently explained how serious the charge was, he kept laughing. As a man, as a father of a young boy myself at the time, I felt obliged to step in to prevent further repeat occurrences.”  And you must understand that these rapes are oftentimes occurring at U.S. military installations, making the locals look upon our troops as complicit.  It is not exactly the best way to develop an atmosphere of trust among the Afghani people.
But it is the words of Marine Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. in that New York Times article that are especially haunting.  Before he was gunned down in Helmland Province in 2012 by a 17-year-old Afghan ‘tea boy’ for a local police chief, Buckley told his father that at night he could hear Afghan officers sexually abusing young boys, but there was nothing he could do about it.  “At night we can hear them screaming… it made me sick to my stomach.”
Naturally, officials at the Pentagon deny that there are explicit orders to ignore the rape of children.  But they will also admit that policing the local population is not “the priority of their mission”.  But I ask you, what are our soldiers expected to do?  In a written statement requested by House Armed Services Committee member, Representative Duncan Hunter, Martland stated, “While I understand that a military lawyer can say that I was legally wrong, we felt a moral obligation to act.”
And should that not be this man’s primary duty?  A military without the “private morality” that this nation’s first Commander-in-Chief extolled will become nothing less than a cold, heartless machine designed to wage war.  Obviously, by ignoring the abuse of these Afghan boys, we were not commanding the respect of the Afghan people — and our soldiers could not respect themselves.
I applaud the courage and the boldness of Sergeant 1st Class Charles Martland and Captain Daniel Quinn.  While the official military position is that they took the law into their own hands in the form of vigilantism, I prefer to look upon their actions as those of moral, righteous men.  The words of Anglo-Irish statesman and political theorist Edmund Burke have never been more appropriate … “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”  Thank God that there are men like Martland and Quinn who exemplify this truth.

3 John 1:11    “Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.”

Fort Meade Gate attack

Fort Meade houses the National Security Administration. (Source: WJLA/CNN) So what really happened here? Hopefully some one in the area will let us know and give us the real story instead of what the media and the NSA poster boys will say.

(CNN)Two men tried to ram the main gate to enter the headquarters of the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland on Monday, according to a federal law enforcement official briefed on the probe. An NSA police officer shot one of the men dead, and seriously injured the second. Aerial shots show two vehicles at an intersection that appear to be damaged. The incident took place near one of the gates to the complex, far from the main buildings.

Islamic State plans to Blow Up Landmarks

Really? The Whitehouse is on their list of landmarks to be destroyed by ISIS. I thought Obama was their buddy since he seems to be trying to move America to an Islamic state, so why would they want to blow his house up? There are endless rants we could do about Obama and the route he is taking America but for now we will stick to the topic. Below is the article based on new claims coming out of ISIS.

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization, which is based in Syria and is continuously expanding its influence throughout the Middle East and Africa, has again threatened the West, and notably its famous landmarks.

After months of silence, ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani released a 28-minute audio clip in Arabic last Thursday in which he accepted the Nigerian-based Boko Haram terror organization’s pledge of allegiance to ISIS, calling it “a new door opened by Allah” and directing jihadists to join the battle in West Africa.

Turning to the West, he listed the cities that ISIS is targeting, including Washington, Paris, Rome Jerusalem and Kabul.

“We want, Allah willing, Paris before Rome and before Al-Andalus [Spain and Portugal], [and] after that we will blacken your life and blow up your White House, Big Ben, and the Eiffel Tower, Allah willing,” al-Adani said. “We want Kabul, Karachi, the Caucasus, Qom, Riyadh and Tehran. We want Baghdad, Damascus, Jerusalem, Cairo, Sanaa, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Amman. And Muslims shall return to ruling and leadership everywhere.”

Lindsey Graham: as president I would deploy the military against Congress

Click here to view the original post.

This is the title from an article on this  website. Basically it is trying to bring Graham across as southern charmed dictator, which is far from the truth. His comment,

“And here’s the first thing I would do if I were president of the United States. I wouldn’t let Congress leave town until we fix this. I would literally use the military to keep them in if I had to. We’re not leaving town until we restore these defense cuts. We are not leaving town until we restore the intel cuts.”

Graham has always been pro military and for good reason, we have the best damn military in the world, it just needs a better leader. But his words toward congress should show us that some in Washington do see what we see, that congress is broken. Is it a “self-coup”he’s planning? I don’t see it as a “self-coup” as much as making congress do what we elected them to do, he just happens to feel strongly about restoring defense cuts. With the way things are in the world why would we not restore defense cuts?

Let’s face it Graham is smart but don’t see him with a grand scheme of being Obama 2.0. If congress didn’t  sit on their ass in Washington and stroke each others ego’s doing nothing in the way that makes this country better as a whole, then this wouldn’t have even been a news story.  Let the military stand outside the doors and if congress grows from this experience and not constantly be in gridlock because one party doesn’t always get it’s way then so be it. Maybe a little “Martial Law” toward congress might put them in their places. God knows Obama and congress wouldn’t have any qualms about declaring “martial Law” on the citizens of America. Legal or not legal when has that stopped our government from doing anything?
