TRANSCRIPT (with footnotes)

The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.” — Proverbs 22:3

A Prepper’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, You are our refuge, our fortress. In You we find the courage and strength and wisdom we need to live and thrive and do your will in all things. You call us to live lives set apart from the worldly system of the Evil One. Have mercy on us and help us as we seek to live according to your will.

In Proverbs*, Solomon teaches us that a wise man, a prudent man, foresees danger and prepares for it, while a worldly man, a foolish man, ignores danger and suffers the consequences. O Lord, help us to be wise, not worldly. Help us be prudent, not foolish.

All wisdom flows from You, Father, so help us with our most important preparation for dangerous times: building a deep relationship with You. Give us a love for your laws. Give us your wisdom. Make the words of the Psalmist** ring true for us: Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me.

Paul teaches us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.*** Help us to care for your temple properly, to keep it healthy and fit, both spiritually and physically. Help us to make wise moves financially, for Solomon teaches us that the borrower is slave to the lender,**** therefore let us be enslaved to no one, so that we can live our lives for You unimpeded.

Help us, Lord, to not be lazy or indulgent, but rather to be industrious and thrifty. Help us to save and store up food and other necessities for difficult times, for we are commanded to provide for ourselves and our family at all times.*****

Help us, Lord, to be able to defend ourselves, our families, and those who cannot defend themselves, for You have given us the right of self-defense against those who would do us harm.******

Lord, You have also taught us the value of Charity,******* to be a help to those who cannot help themselves – orphans, widows, the elderly, the disabled, and others in need. Help us to live wisely, so that in times of great need we are not in need ourselves, but therefore are able to provide generously to those who are in need.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

TRANSCRIPT (Prayer & Scripture Quotes Only)

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 1 Timothy 2: 1-4 (ESV)

Prayer For Our Government Officials

Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon all leaders, politicians, and civil authorities of these United States of America. We especially hold up to you our new Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch – grant him much wisdom in all his decisions as a Justice.

We also lift up to You President Donald Trump, Vice-President Mike Pence, Chief Justice John Roberts, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. W also pray for all the President’s Cabinet members and advisers, the associate judges of the Supreme Court, all federal, state, and local judges, all members of the House of Representatives and Senate, as well as all governors, state legislators, and local authorities. Grant them wisdom in their duties and decisions, and have them serve Your Will in all things. Block all of their plots and schemes that run counter to Your good and perfect Will, or that threaten the inalienable rights You have given to us. Most importantly, let them know Your love and saving grace.

Father, bless and have mercy on all law enforcement officers at all levels throughout these United States of America. Save them, protect them, and keep them safe. Guide them in their duties, and grant them courage and wisdom. Watch over and protect their families. Comfort those who have lost friends and loved ones in the line of duty. Let them know your love and saving grace. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

What is wrong with America goes well beyond politics & economics. It is a spiritual sickness which infects the USA. No politician, no election, no piece of legislation, will cure spiritual sickness. We must appeal to a Higher Authority for that kind of healing. Please join me in praying for America.

Prayer for America (short version)*

God, we have sinned and deserve the just punishment for our sins as a nation who has rejected You in every possible way. And yet, Lord, I cry out for mercy for myself, my family, and this nation. Forgive us, and help us to turn oonce again to You. In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

*This short version of the Prayer for America is intended to be easy to memorize and use as a daily (or nightly) prayer for those who might want to do so.

Additional Prayers

Have mercy, O Lord, upon the whole clergy of Your Church in America, and grant them the wisdom, courage, and strength needed to boldly preach Your Word and do Your Will during these perilous times.

Grant, O Lord, blessings and mercies to all current and former members of our armed forces. Save them, protect them, and keep them safe.

Bless, O Lord, and have mercy on those who serve as police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and other first responders. Keep them safe as they perform their often dangerous duties.

Please read the Word of God this week!

Reading the Bible on a regular basis is something everyone needs to do. Not just occasionally. Not just once a week. Daily reading of God’s Word is essential for building a solid relationship with our Father in Heaven. If you are not doing so already, please make daily Bible reading a part of your life. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of Bible reading plans you can follow. Your personal Bible may contain a daily reading plan. Several reading plans can be found at the Bible Gateway website. You can ask your pastor or priest for one. Or simply design your own reading plan, as random or as organized as you wish. Whatever plan you choose, please start reading the Bible every single day.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
— Isaiah 5:20

Prayer for America

Heavenly Father, we confess that, as a nation and as individuals, we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. We have also failed to do what Your holy law requires of us. As a nation, we have replaced the authority and perfection of Your Word with the whim of our own ever-changing opinions for our standards of right and wrong. We no longer keep Your commandments, or follow Your teachings, choosing instead to follow worldly ways.  But now, with repentance and humility, we turn again to Your love and mercy. We entreat You to forgive us, as individuals and as a nation, all our transgressions and to cleanse us from all our sins. Lord, fill our hearts with the light of Your truth. Strengthen our will by Your grace. Teach us both to desire and to do only what pleases You. In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble,
And the flame consumes the chaff,
So their root will be as rottenness,
And their blossom will ascend like dust;
Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,
And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Prayer For America (long version)

Our Father in heaven, have mercy upon these United States of America, according to Your lovingkindness and tender mercies. Blot out our transgressions, cleanse us of our sins. We acknowledge our transgressions, our many sins against You: We have allowed our God-given liberties to be taken away by our politicians and leaders. We have allowed Your Word and commandments to be banned from our public squares. We have allowed prayer to be eliminated from our schools. We have allowed Your place in our nation’s history to be erased from our textbooks and our minds. We have allowed the epidemics of abortion, pornography, and sexual immorality to fester out of control. We have allowed perversion, decadence, and depravity of all sorts to become public and commonplace.

As a nation, we have replaced the authority and perfection of Your Word with the whim of our own opinions for our standards of right and wrong. We no longer keep Your commandments, or follow Your teachings.

We confess these and all our sins to You and ask forgiveness for ourselves and our nation. Bring us to a state of true repentance – a returning to You – as both individuals and as a nation. We confess Your lordship over every aspect of our lives and our nation. Help us to follow You once again. Restore your mercy and blessings to these United States of America, and re-establish a hedge of protection around us. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

Supporting Verse: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

Confession of the Lordship of Jesus Christ

We confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over every aspect of our lives and our nation. Help us, as individuals and as a nation, to accept and live according to Your will in all things. Amen.

Against Demonic Influence in America

Almighty God, who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning, deliver these United States of America also from every influence of the unclean spirits. Command Satan and his minions to depart far from these United States by the power of Your only begotten Son. Rescue this nation and its people from demonic delusion and darkness. Fill the American people with the light of the Holy Spirit that we may be guarded against the snares of the crafty demons. Grant that angels always watch over our nation and lead us to the path of righteousness forever, to the honor of Your glorious name, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

A Prayer For Our Nation

Click here to view the original post.

It goes without saying that our nation faces critical times. There is blatant strife and conflict in all the arenas of our life: social, political, racial, cultural, and religious. People are divided like I have never seen them in my lifetime… and I can remember the Vietnam War, the political assassinations, and the racial riots. But now, if you wear the wrong T-shirt into a crowd, you are inviting violence. No one trusts the media; and we find it difficult to trust each other. And if all this discord and dissension weren’t enough, now we hear that witches, satanists, and occultists are joining forces for a planned ritual in which they intend to destroy the President of this nation. I kid you not!
They plan on invoking “demons of the infernal realms” in order to bind President Trump and all who encourage, promote, or assist him. I want to be very clear, this is not a blog about Donald Trump.  This is a post about the very real spiritual war that is being waged on our country, regardless of who you voted for. It is about the false gods that this nation serves. And it’s about how far off the rails we have come; about all the various religions that we follow that do not worship the One True God. And it’s about the chaos that has ensued because of these ungodly and sinful influences.
To bring it all into perspective, I want to share a new insight I received yesterday as I pursued a new study I am doing on The Lord’s Feasts.  Next month will begin the holy Passover week, which the Lord instituted so that the tribes of Israel might commemorate Him bringing them out of 430 years of enslavement to the Egyptian false god system.  Throughout their ancient history, the Egyptians worshipped as many as 2,000 different gods at different times and in different places.  But in the story of Israel’s Exodus from Egypt, we encounter the ten plagues that God brought against the idolatrous Egyptians.  The number ten is significant in the Bible, signifying “a fullness of quantity”.  Therefore, God is telling us that the ten plagues means Egypt was completely plagued with sin and idolatry.  Furthermore, each of the ten plagues God brought against them was a spiritual battle against a specific god.
In particular, here are the gods or goddesses of Egypt that correspond to the type of plague God pronounced in this spiritual battle for the Israelites: the plague of the Nile turning to blood (Hapi – Egyptian god of the Nile); frogs coming from the Nile (Heket – Egyptian goddess of fertility, water, and renewal); lice from the dust of the earth (Geb – Egyptian god of the earth); swarms of flies (Khebri – Egyptian god of creation, movement of the sun, rebirth); death of cattle and livestock (Hathor – Egyptian goddess of love and protection); ashes turned to boils and sores (Isis – Egyptian goddess of medicine and peace); hail rained down in the form of fire (Nut – Egyptian goddess of the sky); locusts sent from the sky (Seth – Egyptian god of storms and disorder); three days of complete darkness (Ra – the sun god); death of the firstborn (Pharaoh – the ultimate power of Egypt, and a symbol of an anti-Christ spirit.
As you will notice, each of the plagues increases in severity along with the increased power of the corresponding gods.  The Lord names His demand in these series of spiritual battles: “Let my people go, that they might serve ME!” But the spiritual forces of evil do not relent, and God pronounces that He will execute judgment against ALL THE GODS OF EGYPT.

Ra, the Sun god

Here’s what we need to understand… this is not some metaphorical fairy tale of the mythological gods of ancient Egypt.  These gods were real and they practiced their power and influence among all the people living in Egypt — even the Israelites.  The people of Israel had been crying out to the Lord for centuries for release from their bondage, but even in their misery, their relationship with the Lord had suffered. There is now a battle between God and these other gods over the very people God has called His Own. And you know what?  The same could be said of the chaos, division, and corruptive ways we are now seeing in our nation.
So, we have to ask ourselves: is the same thing happening in America today? Are other gods battling with the One True God for the heart and soul of our nation? We have always prided ourselves on being a melting pot; a nation where all faiths are welcome and no practice of religion is forbidden. And I know that I will receive condemnation for being exclusive, but how does our God feel about that, and are we due His judgment for participating in worship of Allah, Buddha, Shiva, the Angel Moroni, the Pope, or any other spirit behind men that proclaims they are “from God”? And what are we to do about it?
Now, I know that this nation is our temporary home. But it is also territory that we, as Christians, are to claim for the Kingdom of God.  So it is in our interest, and the interest of God, to get in this spiritual battle, which is no different than the one waged in ancient Egypt. And one way that we can do that together is intercessory prayer; it worked for the prophets Ezekiel and Samuel; and worthy role models, they are.
First, let’s understand what intercessory prayer is.  It should go without saying that intercessory prayer is the action of intervening on behalf of another by praying for them. We petition God for mercy on their behalf. And I believe that God honors intercessory prayer because it shows a heart that seeks God’s good and perfect will for another; a heart that pleads for the sake of another.
And a benefit of intercessory prayer is that it brings us into communion with Christ, who is the Son of El Elyon, the Most High God, and who is Intercessor for all men. As Charles Spurgeon so eloquently put it, “When we pray for our fellow sinners we are in sympathy with our Divine Savior, who made intercession for the transgressors.” We also walk in the shoes of Samuel and Ezekiel, Israel’s devoted Prophets who prayed for the wayward nation of Israel. And if any nation can be described as wayward — perverse, disobedient, rebellious, defiant, erratic — it is the United States of America. I believe the division, discord, and defiance we are seeing in our nation is a result of the influence of other gods. And should someone want to put forth the argument that allowing everyone to worship the god of their choice brings about an all-embracing, all-inclusive and universal understanding of our differences and can actually promote unity in our acceptance of each other, let me ask you this … how is it working for us?  I see more animosity, prejudice, and hostility than ever before; and combined with pornography, sex-trafficking, illegal drugs, and pedophilia, we are seeing the strategic battle plans of other gods who wish to defeat God’s Ultimate Plan for reconciliation with the world.
So, I would like to propose an intercessory prayer on behalf of our nation; a prayer in which we can join together to plead before our Father in Heaven.  It is not the perfect prayer, but a starting place for each of us to petition God for His mercy upon this land:

Father God, we boldly and confidently come before your Throne today, to plead our spiritual condition as a nation.  Father, we know that the Blood of Christ is always before your Throne, interceding on our behalf, but we want to take responsibility for the state of this nation, and to repent for not turning away from the world and following Jesus with our whole heart.
Father, we are guilty of bowing down at the altar of Molech, legislating the shedding of the innocent blood of millions of babies.  We have profaned your Church by allowing the sinful practices of the world to infiltrate your sanctuary, and the conspiracies of false prophets to blaspheme your holy laws.  We have allowed the Leaders of this land to practice extortion and commit robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy through political systems, and have taken advantage of those seeking refuge, without maintaining the protection of the righteous — all without godly justice.
We see the increase of sexual perversion in our land, and the cost it is enacting upon our families, our children, our marriages, and the truly vulnerable. We admit that we have not always treated our bodies as a holy Temple for Your Spirit, and that grieves us.
Father, we recognize that Your Judgment is due upon this land; that we have made no distinction between what is Holy and what is common or evil in Your eyes.  We acknowledge that we have made the worship of other gods equal to the worship of You and Your Son.  Father, we repent of these sins and plead the blood of Jesus upon all our transgressions.
So, now we come before Your Throne, asking for forgiveness and that you release Your Power and Fire to burn up the works of darkness in this nation.  And because we have been given Power and Authority by Jesus to carry on His work of destroying the works of the devil, we release that fire of God [within us] to burn up the idols of this land.  Let the works of witchcraft and occultism be burned in Your fire.
We release the Sword of the Lord against the powers of hell, in the Name of Jesus. Let every altar erected by the Enemy, and the idols and images of the land be broken by Your Power, Oh Lord.  And, in the Name of Jesus, we bind the principalities and powers in the regions where we live, and we ask that you pour Your contempt upon these demon princes.  Break their strength, and bring down the proud and the arrogant, cleansing this land of all unholiness and unrighteousness.
And Father, we ask that You release Your flood waters of Holy justice to rain down on this land, returning us to a righteous and godly people.  LORD, we know that the day will come when You will come in a flood of Godly Power, and all the floodwaters of sin and ungodliness will give way to fresh floods of Your Glory. Father, we pray that that Day will come soon; a Day when we will see Your Kingdom fully established on this earth, and the Prince of Darkness and his demons judged and defeated.  We thank You for the Grace and Mercy You have extended to us, and humbly ask that You bless this land, causing Your face to shine upon us, and that Your Way may be known upon this land and upon the entire earth. We pray for Your Salvation among this nation unto the ends of the earth. May You yield favor and increase upon us as we pray that Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

1 Samuel 12:20, 22     “Do not be afraid; you have done all this evil. Yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart … For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you a people for Himself”.

A Healing Prayer for America

Heavenly Father, thank you for Your enduring love. A love so great that You sent Your only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Jesus died a violent death to pay the penalty for our sins, to free us from the powers of darkness. On the third day, He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at Your right hand.

As individuals, we are all sinners. As a people, as a nation, we also have sinned and turned away from You. As a nation, we have replaced the authority and perfection of Your Word with the whim of our own opinions for our standards of right and wrong. We no longer keep Your commandments, or follow Your teachings.

We come before You now to place all our sins upon the cross of Jesus, and ask to be washed clean by His precious blood. Forgive us, and help us to turn back to You as our Lord, our Standard, our Authority. We confess Your lordship over every aspect of our lives and our nation. Help us to turn back to You, and follow Your ways once again.

In the Name of our Savior, Jesus the Christ, we pray.  Amen.

With the Inauguration that just occurred in the US, I think it is a perfect time for us to pray for our new government officials- that they might do God’s Will in all things.

Prayer For Our New Government Officials

Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon all leaders, politicians, and civil authorities of these United States of America. We especially hold up to you President Donald Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence. Watch over them, keep them safe, grant them wisdom in their duties, and have them serve Your Will in all things.

We also pray for Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly, and National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Guide and direct them in their duties.

We ask, O Lord, that the Senate quickly vote on the many other appointments of President Trump, so that vacant Cabinet and other high-level positions can be filled in a timely fashion. May all Senate votes go according to Your Will.

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

Supporting Verse:First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 1 Timothy 2: 1-4 (ESV)

Prayer for America (short version)

God, we have sinned and deserve the just punishment for our sins as a nation who has rejected you in every possible way. And yet, Lord, I cry out for mercy for myself, my family, and this nation. In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Supporting Verse:If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

Prayer of Repentance of the United States

Heavenly Father, we confess that, as a nation and as individuals, we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. We have also omitted to do what Your holy law requires of us. As a nation, we have replaced the authority and perfection of Your Word with the whim of our own ever-changing opinions for our standards of right and wrong. We no longer keep Your commandments, or follow Your teachings.

Psalm 119:1-8 (NKJV)

Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
Who walk in the law of the Lord!
Blessed are those who keep His testimonies,
Who seek Him with the whole heart!
They also do no iniquity;
They walk in His ways.
You have commanded us
To keep Your precepts diligently.
Oh, that my ways were directed
To keep Your statutes!
Then I would not be ashamed,
When I look into all Your commandments.
I will praise You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
I will keep Your statutes;
Oh, do not forsake me utterly!

Validation By A Vision

Click here to view the original post.

I wrote yesterday’s blog post out of a sincere desire to help several close Christian friends overcome their reticence to letting Jesus set them free.  To be honest, I was beginning to feel as if I was failing them and Jesus because I have been unable to convince them of what my spirit is screaming is His Truth!  I have tried using Scripture to validate what has been revealed to me, but more often than not, these dear Christians are so entrenched in the Church interpretation of the Word, that they look at me with doubtful concern: “I can see that possibility, but it’s not what I’ve been taught my whole life.”  And the conversation usually ends there.
Even those who have seen family members healed of their spiritual wounds [and are desperately searching for a way out of their own bondage] just can’t bring themselves to step outside the box. Something is holding them back; they are listening to a lie; and I haven’t been able to convince them that Jesus is bigger than we’ve allowed Him to be.

So, I have, admittedly, been struggling. After expressing myself yesterday, through my writing, as candidly [and as creatively] as I could — hoping that I could find some way;  any way to help them understand a new insight to this powerful and innovative and unique God we serve — I found myself on my knees last night… and unable to pray.
I honestly didn’t know what to pray; or how to pray for a breakthrough.  I had tried praying for ministering angels to reveal God’s Truth to them, as it had been revealed to me.  I tried praying, in the Name of Jesus, for specific spirits and strongholds to be bound and cast off my friends.  I tried going, in my spirit, to the throne room of God, where I knew [in confidence] that I could ask for mercy and find grace to help in [this] time of need. But all my prayers seemed flat and shallow.  As I climbed into bed, I didn’t feel defeated; but certainly deflated.
Then, as I often do, when my spirit needs to connect with God, I awoke in the early hours of the morning.  Just past 4 a.m., I lay there wide awake, still struggling with how to get my friends delivered from the spiritual darkness they were experiencing.  But I couldn’t even focus my mind enough to pray coherently.  I was wide awake, staring at the ceiling, and it was as if my mind was trying to find its way through a foggy maze.  I couldn’t form a plan of prayerful attack against the Enemy.  So I just closed my eyes in the dark, and started telling myself, Be still and know that He is God… Be still and know that He is God.  And I tried to picture, in my spirit, the Light of the Glory of God… the Light shining in the darkness.
I don’t know how to explain it in any other way, but the next thing I was cognizant of was that I was part of something like a mini-movie playing in my head.  I knew on some level that it was a dream, and it was like I was watching it; but it was also like I was one of the actors in this scenario.  The story played out like this:  Set in the early 1930s or so, a man and his family are traveling in their old pickup, when it develops engine trouble.  They limp into this small town, where they are greeted with hospitality by a man who seems to be the leader of the town. This leader also says he’ll be glad to help get the truck repaired, and invites them to stay a few days while he arranges for the truck to be hauled away to the shop.
Now in this “dream”, I seem to be playing the part of the husband, who gets his wife and two kids settled in, while he strolls about this town, getting a feel for its citizens.  He quickly senses a reserve and restraint about the townspeople; they seem skittish and nervous.  The husband (me) tries to ask a few questions… what do the townspeople do for a living?  Is it a good town to raise a family? One of the men approaches him, looking over his shoulder, as if worried he will be caught doing something forbidden, and reveals that no one is allowed to do anything but what the Leader permits them to do.  No one is free to pursue his or her own interests.  The husband asks, Then why don’t you leave?  The townsman looks aghast and frightened at this suggestion!  Oh, that’s impossible!  The Leader won’t allow it!
At this point in the “dream”, the scene switches to the Leader returning from taking care of the family’s truck, and now I’m playing the part of the wife.  I ask him what news he has on our truck, and he replies that he has taken care of the repairs and it will cost us $800.  Well, that was a fortune in the Depression of the 1930s, and I inform him that we don’t have that kind of money! And the Leader informs me that we will be unable to leave since he holds this debt over our heads.  I boldly scream at him, My husband will never give in to your demands, while the terrified townspeople look on, unable to believe that I would dare to stand up to the feared Leader.
At that moment, the husband (me again) appears on the scene, questions us about the uproar, and declares to the Leader that he will not be subject to his dictates.  He gathers his family up, and standing in the town square, declares to all the surrounding townspeople that we are leaving; we will not be bullied or intimidated by this tyrant.  But the townspeople respond with astonishment and consternation… How can you leave? We are all prisoners here, subject to his command! And we don’t have the keys to unlock the gates to the town!
The husband (me) looks at the panic-stricken townsfolk with pity in his eyes and heart.  Folks, you don’t need keys… there are no locked gates on this town.  You have been free to leave anytime you wanted to.  This deceitful and wicked man only had you convinced you could never leave.  Your freedom has always been there.  All you had to do was walk away from him and his lies.
Suddenly I was awake from this strange “dream”.  It had been 2 1/2 hours since I had begun telling myself to Be still, and know that He is God.  But I had just “watched” and “participated in” what seemed like a full-length movie, in all its detail, color, and emotion.  It was as clear and visible in my mind as if I had just walked out of a movie theatre. I was baffled as I woke my husband up and told him the strange event I had experienced in my sleep.  It was such a strange little story; like it was perfectly scripted for my personal screening.  But I wondered, why that particular story line… I couldn’t really see any purpose to the plot.

Then it hit me!  It was an answer to my struggling attempt at prayer the night before!  God was showing me that I couldn’t make people see the truth of their bondage, anymore than I could (as the husband in my “dream”) make the townspeople see that they didn’t have to live by the dictates of the deceitful Leader.  Satan lies to us and convinces us that we can’t escape our chains, and that we live in an invisible fortress of bondage.  It’s easy to keep us in those chains, too, because he knows that too many of us will never believe that all we have to do is walk away towards the Freedom that Jesus offers.
I will tell you that I have never had a “dream” like that before!  And I rarely remember every detail and conversation and emotion in sequential order, and in such lucid images.  My husband said, “I think God just gave you a vision”.  At first, I didn’t want to accept that because that isn’t any kind of language (or concept) that we modern and Western Christians embrace with any comfort or agreement.  But I then realized just how similar my experience was to what I have been studying in Acts, Chapter 10.
Peter, who found himself outside the norm of Jewish tradition and Law, was staying with Simon, the tanner, in Joppa.  For a law-keeping Jew of that time, it was strictly forbidden to associate with anyone who routinely worked with dead animals. And according to Jewish Law, a tanner had to live at least 75 feet outside a village because of his ritual uncleanness.
But God was laying a groundwork in Peter’s heart for a new concept that He needed him to understand, and Peter is less concerned about Jewish traditions and ceremonial notions than he was before.  Boy, can I relate to that!  This whole ministry that God has laid on me and my husband’s hearts necessitates that we be willing to look outside the Western Church’s traditions and rituals! And it has certainly set us apart from our fellow Christians.
And what did God do next with Peter?  While he was praying on Simon the tanner’s rooftop, the Bible relates what it calls “Peter’s Vision”.  Scripture actually says he fell “into a trance”.  Now this happens to Peter around noon, hence the description of a trance.  I would submit to you that if it had happened in the night or early morning hours, it would have been described as a dream.
So, Peter’s dream is every bit as clear and focused and vivid as mine was.  He even partakes in a conversation with God, and the dream comes to a definitive end.  It is not disjointed or disordered; it is articulated with a precise message.  And Scripture says “Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant”.  Like Peter, I searched for meaning and significance.  And, I will tell you that when it is that strong an image in your mind, you know how different it is from other dreams you’ve had.
I understand that the traditional Church, [and perhaps many of you] will be unable to accept what I have related.  It will be rejected as my own rationalization or justification, and it is just too far outside the realm of “acceptable” Christian experience.  But I know in my heart and spirit, that it was a clarification from God.  It articulated the struggles and frustrations I have been facing, and validated that I am on the right path.  I was shown that I may not be able to change thoughts and theology in a Christian’s mind, but I am to continue declaring what I see as God’s Truth.  It is then up to each Christian to decide if they are too afraid to challenge the invisible chains imposed by the Prince of this world — or if they will take that life-affirming step and walk through the gates toward Freedom.  All I know is that I have been given encouragement and motivation to continue my walk with My Lord, and it was beyond extraordinary — it was supernatural!

Ephesians 3:20-21   “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

What is wrong with America goes well beyond politics & economics. It is a spiritual sickness which infects the USA. No politician, no election, no piece of legislation, will cure spiritual sickness. We must appeal to a Higher Authority for that kind of healing. Please join me in praying for America.

Prayer for America

Save and protect, O Lord, these United States of America and have mercy on us. As a nation, we have turned our backs on you and have sinned. We have allowed our God-given liberties to be taken away. We have allowed the epidemic of abortion to fester out of control. We have allowed prayer to be eliminated from our schools, and Your Word and commandments to be banned from our public squares. We have allowed Your place in our nation’s history to be erased from our textbooks and our minds. We have turned our backs on Your teachings. We no longer look to You and Your Word for our standards of right and wrong, replacing those absolute truths with the whim of our own opinions.  We have allowed decadence and depravity of all sorts to become public and commonplace. Common decency has become a thing of the past.

A Christmas Prayer, by Robert Louis Stevenson

Loving God, Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate
and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

— Robert Louis Stevenson

The Christmas Story — Luke 2: 8-20 (NKJV)

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Amen.

75 Years Later: Pearl Harbor And The Men Who Went To War

Click here to view the original post.

Please indulge me as I try to capture the spirit of our nation 75 years ago, when the United States was attacked at Pearl Harbor.  My father was of “that” generation; the exceptional period of existence that is described in our present age as “The Greatest.”  December 7, 1941 changed the course of his life, as it did so many like him.
It had always been my intention to write a fitting tribute to my father, who was such a complex, and at times, difficult man to understand.  Born in 1925, he was a mid-West farm boy who, at the inexperienced age of 17, answered his nation’s call after the horror of Pearl Harbor.  He served valiantly as a tail-gunner in the U.S. Navy’s Pacific fleet of PV-1 Ventura’s, and along with his older brother, came home to resume their lives in a changed America.
Like most men who go to war, both talked little of their wartime experiences.  When he died in 2007, at the age of 82, I grieved over the lost opportunity to know how that fateful day of December 7, 1941 had changed him. I gave the eulogy at his funeral, and I could share the one aspect of him that I knew well:  his patriotism and love of country. We requested a Naval Honor Guard at his graveside service, and it was a moment I will always treasure.  His service to our Nation had not been forgotten, and the Navy’s own paid him proper respect.
But I was sad that I was left with only a few WWII mementos of my Dad: a photograph of him looking young and innocent in his Navy dress blues; a collage of his flight crew in front of their plane; and his poplin flight suit and fur-lined leather flying cap.  I proudly keep them alongside the folded flag presented at his funeral. But I couldn’t ask questions of these inanimate objects and they revealed no insightful answers.
I felt my chances were slipping away of ever capturing what that era was like…. until one Sunday in the fall of 2009.  Sitting amongst the fifteen or twenty members of my small Sunday School class in Austin, Texas were four of the most interesting and captivating ladies I have ever met.  All in their mid-eighties, they had lived the WWII experience, and they were my path to the past.  This is their story.

Nearly eight years ago, four of the most precious women I’ve ever met — all in their 80’s — sat around my kitchen table and told me their impressions of what it was like on that infamous day 75 years ago, when the news of the bombing of Pearl Harbor swept the nation.
I recorded their stories and wrote a 28-page biography, chronicling their impressions and memories.  Here is the opening paragraph of that biography: They sit grouped together, a quartet set apart by age, wisdom, and their status as widows.  But they are so much more.  They share a common history, yet each has a unique story of  her own to share.  They all grew up in the innocent years before Pearl Harbor.  They experienced the Depression, the war years, and the expansive growth that was a result of that hard-won victory.  Their lives are a lasting legacy of the enduring American Spirit, and they embody the different facets that, as a nation, we have inherited from all who came before us.
But I want you to hear their voices; and re-live those days when faith and war were so intricately bound.  Hear the innocence and the resolve that were hallmarks of that generation.  Read these excerpts from their stories and ask yourselves if this current generation is as strong and resilient and determined to overcome the hardships we may face. And listen for the evidence that God was ever present…
Mary Ann Holcomb was born in 1926 in the small town of Nursery, Texas, so named because a nursery for fruit trees was started there in 1882, along the tracks of the San Antonio and Mexican Gulf Railway.  The small Texas town was located on the coastal plains of the Southeast portion of the state.  Her dad had been a farmer, like his folks before him, and also worked in the insurance business until the Depression hit.

Mary Ann and Bill Holcomb on their honeymoon

Times were hard for the family, which included Mary Ann’s two sisters, who were more than 10 years older.  At the height of the Depression, her dad decided he wanted a divorce, so he could leave to try to find work.  He took Mary Ann, who was nine, and her mother to Austin, where they were able to rent a little room.  Mother and daughter were desperate for a while.
“I remember wearing a piece of linoleum in the bottom of my shoe.   Whenever I’d get a hole, it would go flap, flap, flap.  I wore lots of patches on my clothes.”
Before long her mother was fortunate enough to get a job at the State Library in the Capitol Building.  Her two sisters were receiving training as nurses, so their room and board was provided while they attended nursing school. Circumstances were tougher for her father.
“My dad left Texas and traveled across the country in search of work.  He told me stories of standing in soup lines to get something to eat.  He’d barter for food.  He would go to a grocery store and get a quart of milk for five cents, and then go to a bar, with the milk wrapped in a brown paper bag. In those days, the bars would provide hard-boiled eggs and peanuts if you were seated at the bar drinking.  So he’d take his paper-wrapped milk and pretend to be drinking a bottle of liquor.  That’s how he ate a lot of his meals.”
Mary Ann’s existence improved as her mother worked and saved to rent a little house.  By the time she was fourteen, her mother remarried and they moved to the new Austin suburb of Hyde Park. The ensuing years were filled with the joys of childhood; bicycle riding, swimming, and learning to dance.  Her innocent childhood was shattered on that December 7th morning in 1941.
“Pearl Harbor happened on a Sunday morning.  I remember that I was reading the comics and they announced it on the radio.  We were all stunned!  I was fifteen at the time, and everyone wanted to do their part to help fight the war, but there was really nothing constructive I could do to help the war effort.  I was too young to go to work.”
But as the war ground on, and Mary Ann’s friends from school began going off to war, some she knew well were killed, and the seriousness of the War became evident. She would eventually marry Bill Holcomb, a high school classmate, after the war.  Mary Ann recalled that Bill experienced hand-to-hand combat while serving in the Philippines and suffered from nightmares his whole life; and he continued to sleep with a Ka-Bar knife under his pillow until the day he died.
Jeanne McNabb has the most engaging smile and her eyes sparkle as she tells her story.  It is classic “American”.  She was born in 1926 near the small town of Bertram, 40 miles north of Austin, Texas. She grew up in the country, feeling isolated and as though she didn’t have the advantages of town kids, who could get together and play.  Little did she know that at the age of eight, she would meet her future husband.   He happened to visit his uncle who lived across from her family’s farm.  He would tell her years later that he remembered her as a skinny little girl who looked like “one of those fence posts.”

Jeanne and Clint McNabb, 1945, while
Clint was home on furlough

“Growing up, we didn’t even realize there was a Depression.  Living in the country, we had plenty of food, and parents just didn’t talk about it in front of their kids.” But Jeanne remembers Pearl Harbor with complete clarity.  She was on her first date when she heard the news.
“We were in this guy’s Model A Ford and it was broadcast on his radio.  We were with another couple, having a great time laughing and talking, and didn’t realize until the next day just how serious it was.”  It would soon affect her personally.  In high school, she became reacquainted with Clint McNabb, the young boy she had befriended when she was eight years old. And it was only three months before Jeanne became both a Child Bride and a War Bride.  At the age of 17½, she and Clint were married one month before he went into the service.
“He knew he was going to be drafted, so he enlisted before his number was drawn, so he could be in the branch of the military he really wanted.” Clint settled on the Army Air Corps and completed his basic training at Kessler Field in Biloxi, Mississippi.  He then served a short stint on the East Coast before spending the rest of the war in Gander, Newfoundland, as part of a Combat Search and Rescue crew who went out to try and find downed pilots when their planes were shot down.
“He only came home one time during his four years of service, and he didn’t talk about what he’d seen or experienced.  He did get frozen feet from the cold winters in Newfoundland, and would eventually get a ten percent medical disability as a result.”
Jeanne served her country as a secretary/typist in the Intelligence Office at Bergstrom Air Base.  “The mission of the Intelligence Office was to detect saboteurs or anyone that might be trying to harm the United States. The Special Agents would intercept letters, read them, and if there was nothing damaging in the contents, the letters would be resealed and passed on. I would type reports on an old manual typewriter, and have to type 10 or 12 copies of a report with carbon.  It was tedious!  And boy, was it hot in that barracks-type building! We never did uncover any kind of sinister plot, but it was an interesting job.”
Wynette Harris has a personal history that is anything but boring.  Her parents were secretly married when her mother was only 15, and her daddy began a life as a professional gambler. But after the birth of her sister, other parents wouldn’t let their children play with her because her father was a gambler.  He just couldn’t take it, so he began going to night school to learn a trade.

“Blue” and Wynette
Templeton, 1945

Eventually her father became a civic leader in town and was the president of the Trade and Labor Council for many years.  He was also a Deputy Constable and the Police Chief presented him with a pearl-handled, chrome plated .45-caliber pistol, which Wynette’s son now proudly owns. Her pride in her father is quite evident:  “He is proof that you can raise yourself up and change for the better!”
Her future husband, Elmer “Blue” Templeton, was like many young men in those Depression-era years; he quit school at the age of 15 to apprentice with a trade.  His brother-in-law was a Master Plumber, and by the time Blue was 19, he was the youngest journeyman plumber in the state of Texas.  He traveled the country, in search of ever-higher wages, and when the opportunity came to help rebuild Pearl Harbor, he jumped at the chance.
By summer’s end in 1943, he had enlisted with the Seabees, who were the Construction Battalion of the US Navy.  Primarily recruited from the civilian construction trades, they were responsible for building airstrips, bridges, roads and housing. Wynette recalls, “We were engaged the night before he sailed out of Seattle on New Year’s Eve, headed for New Hebrides (a group of Pacific islands west of Fiji).  Two battleships escorted the troop ship he was on.  On the way to their destination, they encountered a typhoon.  Both of their battleship escorts sunk, and their own ship lacked only two degrees from having waves swamp the smokestacks.  They were without power for two days, and subject to attack by Japanese submarines at any moment.  Help eventually arrived and the ship was hauled to Bora Bora for repairs, before continuing on to the New Hebrides islands, where he served for the next sixteen months.
When Blue came home in November of 1945, he was discharged at Camp Wallace near Galveston, and the two planned a whirlwind wedding ceremony.  “My girlfriend went with me to pick him up.  It took three days to get your blood test results, so three days after he landed in Galveston, we were married on November 30, 1945!”
Jeannie Paxton is a born storyteller. She is proud of her birthplace, Cowpens, South Carolina, which was the site of one of the turning points of the Revolutionary War.  Brigadier General Daniel Morgan and his ragtag colonial militia routed a much larger British contingent under Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton.  That same stubborn American spirit would be ignited once again in her generation.
Jeannie was one of 13 children, and all the members of her family worked in the Southern Textile mills. “My mother had a hard life.  She had 13 children and I was the youngest.  She lost three or four children to the diphtheria epidemic, and all within three months time. But we grew up in a happy household.  We didn’t have a lot, but we always had food.  Everyone that lived on that mill road was allowed to have cattle, and we raised ours in a pasture back behind our house.  We also had a garden every year, and a couple of peach trees.”

Joe and Jeannie Paxton, 1946

Faith was an important part of the family’s life and Jeannie describes her mother as “the most Christ-like person” she has ever known.  Her mother’s influence led her to a Bible study group, being taught by two women in Cowpens.  They invited several young girls to study the Book of Revelation with them. “I was 14 or 15, and we’d heard the rumblings on the radio of what was happening in Europe, and these ladies were convinced Hitler was the Anti-Christ.  We’d study every week, and I would tremble, I was so afraid!  But I read in the Bible that ‘Blessed are you if you read this Book’.  So it eased my mind some.  But these ladies were convinced that Germany was the Gog or Magog of the Bible.  Then when Pearl Harbor happened, it became the Japanese we were fighting, not the Europeans.  So how did that work into the Book of Revelation?  It was a very frightening and confusing time for me, as a teenager.”
She would meet her future husband, after the war, when he was finishing up his 4-year commitment to the Army at Fort Blanding in Florida.  He accompanied her brother-in-law home on leave to South Carolina, and after one weekend, he announced, “I’m going to marry you.”  Jeannie and Joe would exchange letters over the next few months, and although she would only see him three or four more times before marrying him, she felt she knew his character.  “Joe would never come to the house without wanting to say hello to my mother.  He was just that way.  My mother was such a good judge of character and liked him from the first moment she saw him”. Joe came home on two week’s leave in July of 1946 and they were married.
All these precious ladies agreed with Jeannie Paxton when she said,  “I think we all wrote almost everyday to our husbands or boyfriends.  And my husband would ask me to write things that made me blush!  Our letters were so sentimental and personal.” In today’s world of explicit and open displays of public affection, I found this era’s discreet expressions of passion and love to be both refreshing and romantic.  There were often long periods of time where the lovers were stationed abroad and the mail was the only connection they had to each other.  Today our military are oftentimes able to connect to their families and loved ones through instant email, texting and video link-ups.  But during WWII, families often went weeks without any idea of the location or status of their loved one.
And all the ladies echoed this same sentiment:  “The nation prayed a lot.  We prayed openly in our churches for our military, and we would conduct all-night prayer vigils.  We prayed in school the first thing each morning, along with standing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.  It was common for Bible verses to be read over the loud speakers at the beginning of each day.”
Jeannie Paxton’s cousin was a living example of the power of prayer during the War. “My cousin Albert lied about his age, and went into the military before WWII at the age of 13.  He served in Africa, and later went up through Europe and ended up fighting at the Battle of the Bulge.”
The Battle of the Bulge was fought in the Ardennes Mountains region of Belgium during the brutal winter months of December 1944 through January 1945.  Estimates of American casualties range as high as 89,000, with 19,000 killed and as many as 26,000 captured and missing.   It was the single largest and costliest battle for the American military during WWII.
“I’ll never forget the day he came home.  It was near Christmas of 1945 and my brother went to the bus station in Spartanburg to pick him up.  My mother had made a huge breakfast for him: biscuits, red-eye gravy, ham and sausage.  He sat down at the table and just cried.
He said to my mother, ‘Aunt Patsy, I know you were praying for me when I was at the Battle of the Bulge, and I want to thank you.  I was in a foxhole and people were dying all around me.  Everyone in that foxhole, but me, was killed.  I know that Jesus held that foxhole.’
Jeannie continues, “The amazing thing was that we later figured out that the very night he survived, my mother had a sense that Albert was in the middle of a fierce battle.  She stayed up all that night, praying for him, and he knew that was the reason he was alive.”
Another common memory was how much the nation sacrificed for each other and the war effort.  Jeannie Paxton made sure I understood the way it was. “They didn’t ask us to sacrifice.  They didn’t have to!  We were willing to do it.  It was ‘What can I give up? What can I do?’ “ She laments that “Now it’s “What’s in it for me?’“
Jeanne McNabb chimes in and shares a poignant memory.  “My dad, bless his heart, gave up his grandfather’s Civil War guns during a metal drive.”  Such was the sacrifice those citizens were willing to make. Everyone in the country was behind the war effort.  Movie stars used their popularity to sell war bonds, and several high profile stars even put their careers on hold to serve their country. My, how times have changed!
But sacrifice was the byword of the nation.  Rationing became commonplace among American homes. Among the items rationed were coffee, sugar, gasoline, oil, kerosene, nylon and silk. All the women remembered giving up their nylon stockings, and they laughed, remembering how they would draw an imagined seam on the back of their legs to resemble the phantom stockings.   Wynette gave up sugar on her cereal and in iced tea, and doesn’t use it to this day.  Jeannie remembers that her in-laws mixed their small allotment of coffee with some kind of leaves.  Imagine asking Starbucks junkies to consider making that sacrifice!
But the biggest sacrifice came in the number of American lives lost.  It is estimated that, over the course of the War, nearly 416,000 American military personnel died on the beaches of Normandy, in the fields of Europe, and among the islands of the Pacific.
America paid a high price for securing the freedom of millions of Europeans and Asians from the diabolical plans of Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito. But with the end of the War, these returning soldiers and my four ladies set their lives in motion, taking the steps that would lead them to me.  And as each of the women reminisces about the young men they married, it is quite evident that their respect and love grew with the increasing years.
Jeanne McNabb, who married at the beginning of the War, settled down in Central Texas.  Her husband Clint came home in 1946, and attended the University of Texas on the GI Bill.  While in college, he became a member of Alpha Chi Omega, a service organization, and followed up on his pre-war involvement with the Boy Scouts.  It was a life-long commitment, and an activity he so enjoyed.  His professional career included various sales jobs, and a major position with Retail Credit Company (now Equifax), which took his family to Corpus Christi, TX, Atlanta, GA, and back to Dallas, TX. In the early 1970’s, terrorism was becoming a threat to the nation, so Clint once again went to his country’s aid and served as a Sky Marshal.
In his later years, Clint’s pride and joy was his garden, which included peach, pear, and plum trees, berries, and four raised vegetable gardens.   He was very successful, and the neighborhood benefited from his green thumb!  “He was a conservationist before it was popular.” Another of his loves was working with the youth of Irving, TX.  He was active in the baseball and football programs of his community.  Jeanne said she spent many hours sitting in the bleachers!  And then after 45 wonderful years of marriage, Clint passed away in 1989.
But as with all of these men, Clint’s greatest legacy was his family.  Jeanne tells me how proud she is of their only child, Clinton Edward McNabb, now a Captain with Continental Airlines.  She also takes great pride in her two grand-daughters (both Texas A&M graduates) and her three great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann Holcomb married her husband Bill, the high school soda jerk from the drugstore, in 1949.  Bill also went to college on the GI Bill, and they both were in school at the same time.  But she didn’t finish “because I was so in love and just wanted to be married.”.  He studied Business Administration at the University of Texas, and began working for the Texas Highway Department at a monthly salary of $300.  She remembers those lean, early years of their marriage and saving $500 for a vacation to California in 1951 or 52.
Meanwhile, Bill’s career at the Highway Department lasted for 32 years.  He was the Assistant Director of the Purchasing Division for the entire state of Texas, and his duties included submitting the annual budget for the Department, as well as being in charge of Right-Of-Way purchases.
When asked to describe her husband, Mary Ann’s first word was, “Wow!”  She is clearly moved.  “He was one of those tall, strong, quiet, and low-key types.”  She likens him to the actor Jimmy Stewart in both temperament and appearance.  “But he would light up the room when he walked in; people gravitated towards him.  He was affectionate, tender hearted and very romantic.  I guess you can tell how crazy I was about him!  My heart never failed to skip a beat when I heard his car in the driveway.  Honestly, to me, he was the most perfect, loving husband anyone could have.”  She was devastated when Bill died in 1981 at the age of 54 years from cancer. Their marriage lasted for 32 years and their only daughter, Judy, has provided Mary Ann with three wonderful grandchildren.
In 1945, after the War, Wynette and Blue Templeton were married “in my home in Port Arthur, Texas; the only house I had ever lived in.”  After a honeymoon in Mexico City, they settled in Odessa, Texas where he worked for a plumbing company.  By 1948, Blue had become a Master Plumber, and joined with his boss to form Heath and Templeton Plumbing Shop in Midland, Texas.  In 1953, the family, which now included their three children, moved to a farm in La Pryor, Texas.
The plumbing business had eroded and the state was undergoing a seven-year drought.   The family suffered through five or six hard years, trying to make a go of the farm.  So when the heavy construction business began emerging, Blue was quick to take advantage of his opportunities, and was able to support his family.  The business consisted primarily of installing pipelines for gas companies and installing underground irrigation pipe for area farmers.  By 1970, they owned two farms, a heavy equipment business and a retail business in Del Rio, Texas.
Wynette had this to say about her husband:  “He was a man to be admired.  With little education and a lot of guts and determination, he made a success of his life.  He was very much an extrovert, and made friends easily—and had many.  He loved his family and his family loved him.”  Blue Templeton died October 25, 2001 in Canyon Lake, Texas.  He is buried in Coleman, Texas, where many of his ancestors lie.  He and Wynette had three children:  Dennis, Janis and Ann, and were blessed with two grandchildren.
Jeannie and Joe Paxton were married after the war in 1946.  While attending college in South Carolina on the GI Bill, Joe taught at a trade school, helping men get their GED’s and then pointing them in the direction of jobs in the trades, such as brick-laying and plumbing.  He went on to get his degree in Chemical Engineering, and was employed by Dow Chemical, building chemical plants across the country.
In 1951 the family moved to Texas.  “Joe was a very smart guy, and had a strong and determined personality.  You either liked him or you didn’t.  Of course, I thought he was so special!”  Jeannie adds that while engineering was his profession, Joe was a farmer at heart.  “And he loved to go fishing!”  And when Joe needed to escape the pressures of his professional world, he would turn to his love of architecture and designed homes and buildings to foster his creative side.
He and Jeannie had five children, four daughters and a son.  The love of Jeannie’s life was tragically taken from her, when Joe died in 1974, at the young age of 48.  The long life they had planned together was shortened way too early, when Joe was stricken by a heart attack.  Jeannie knows he would have been proud of their nine grandchildren.

So these are the stories of four ordinary, yet remarkable, and unabashedly all-American young men, and the amazing women who loved them.   While their lives won’t be commemorated in any historical journals of the day, they led their lives in extraordinary and honorable ways. With thoughts only of responsibility and duty, they answered their Nation’s call, and earned the right to be called “The Greatest”.  And that title applies to those who fought, and those who waited at home.
I’d like to think that my dad would have recognized my motives for writing this memoir; to honor all those, who like him and his brother, Clint, Bill, Blue and Joe, stepped up to the plate, and in true American fashion, selflessly put their country first.  They sacrificed their youth and got the job done, then came home to get on with the business of living; loving their wives, raising children, and working diligently to provide a future for their families.
And I have to confess that I have another motive for writing this memoir.  I fear that only two generations past the lifetimes of these remarkable men, there is an attempt to alter the “heart and soul” of the American character.  The hopes and dreams of these men to provide a better world in which their children could work hard and flourish, has degenerated into an “entitlement” society.  They were proud to be called Americans and honored the heritage of those who came before them.
They also honored and feared their God, and the nation came together to pray for the safety of these men and for deliverance from the evils of war.  We would do well to mimic the simple lives of these amazing and faithful people.  Thank you for letting me share their story on the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Micah 6:8    “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

The core idea of Patriots’ Prayers is to get Americans praying together, seeking forgiveness for our nation and turning back to God (repentance). Important as it is to pray for the forgiveness and repentance of the United States as a nation, it is equally important for us as individuals to repent and seek forgiveness of our sins. This week I highlight Psalm 51 (vv. 1-17), which is a prayer of repentance by King David. Use this Psalm as your personal prayer of forgiveness, praying it as you read it, or use it to inspire your pwn personal prayer of repentance.

Psalm 51:1-17 (NKJV) – A Prayer of Repentance

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies,  blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight— that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.

Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice.

Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You.

Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.

O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; you do not delight in burnt offering.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart — these, O God, You will not despise.

“Prayer is a great weapon, a rich treasure, a wealth that is never exhausted, an undisturbed refuge, a cause of tranquility, the root of a multitude of blessings, and their source.” — Saint John Chrysostom

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

Prayer for America (short version)

God, we have sinned and deserve the just punishment for our sins, as a nation who has rejected You in every possible way. And, yet, Lord, I cry out for mercy for myself, my family, and this nation. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Confession of the Lordship of Jesus Christ

We confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over every aspect of our lives and our nation. Help us, as individuals and as a nation, to accept and live according to Your will in all things. Amen.

A Prayer of Peace (St. Francis of Assisi)

Lord make me an Instrument of Your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

Divine Master, grant that I may not seek
to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

In the name of our Savior, Jesus, Amen.

This is Thanksgiving week. May we all find time and reason to give thanks and praise to our God, for He is steadfast in His love and kindness.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving
(based on the Trisagion Prayer and Psalm 138)

Heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, who are in all places and fill all things; the treasury of blessings and giver of life: Come and abide in us, cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O Gracious Lord.

We give You thanks, O Lord, with our whole hearts; before the angels we sing Your praise; We bow before Your holy presence and give thanks to Your name, for Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness; For You have exalted above everything Your name and Your word. When we call on Your name, You hear and answer us; our strength You increase. Though we walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve our lives; You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of our adversaries, and Your right hand delivers us. Lord, You will fulfill His purpose for us; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Amen.

Psalm 107: 1-3

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
And gathered out of the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the south.

Psalm 100

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Psalm 150

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

A Prayer of Thanksgiving (inspired by Psalm 100)

Heavenly Father, we come into your presence with joy and singing, offering You all our praise and worship. Lord, You are God. You are the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer.  Lord, You are our Shepherd. Watch over us, protect us, and have mercy on us.

We enter into your gates with thanksgiving, into your courts with praise. We are thankful to You, and bless your Holy Name, for You are good in all your ways, and your Truth lasts throughout all generations.

We thank You for the rights You have given to us, which no government, no court, or no politician has the authority to take away from us.

Thank you for our Right to Life. The first Right, the foundation upon which all other Rights and Freedoms rest, is to life. For without life, there can be no other rights.

Thank You for our Freedom of Religion – the right to worship You and to live our lives according to Your will, without interference from worldly authorities. Help us to hold firm against those that would curtail or take away our Freedom of Religion.*

Thank You for our Freedom of Speech – the right to express our thoughts and opinions without fear. Help us to resist calls to limit free speech, whether through laws or through political correctness.

Thank You for our Freedom of the Press – the right to report and receive news without the control or approval of worldly authorities. Help us to resist attempts by activists and government officials to restrict, control, or monitor the news media.

Thank You for our Freedom of Self-Defense, and the right to possess and use the tools of self-defense.  Block the attempts of some to make us defenseless before our enemies, to make us dependent solely on the whims and limitations of government for our protection.

Thank You for our freedom to own our own property. Protect our private property rights from those that want to restrict them based on their owninterests  and opinions.

Thank You for these and all our other rights and freedoms you have given to us, and that our forefathers had the wisdom to enshrine in our nation’s founding documents. Help us to hold on to all our precious freedoms.

We admit our many sins as individuals and as a nation. We repent and ask forgiveness for ourselves and our nation. Help us achieve a state of true repentance – a returning to You – as individuals and as a nation.

We confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over every aspect of our lives and our nation, and it is in His name we pray. Amen.

Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” — Psalm 141:2 (NKJV)

A Prayer for Tuesday’s Election

Heavenly Father, as we prepare to vote for President and other elective offices on Tuesday, please grant us wisdom and courage in deciding how to cast our votes. Let the election process be peaceful and honest. Let all laws be obeyed. Let all vote counts be fair and accurate. Let all reporting by the media be honest and unbiased. May all sides peacefully accept the outcome of a fair and honest election. Above all, may Your Will be done. Block all plots and schemes that run counter to Your good and perfect Will, or that threaten the inalienable rights You have given to us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer For Forgiveness and Repentance of the United States

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

Against Demonic Influence

Almighty God, who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning, deliver these United States of America also from every influence of the unclean spirits. Command Satan to depart far from these United States by the power of Your only begotten Son. Rescue this nation and its peple from demonic delusion and darkness. Amen.

Daily Bible Reading

(The Gospel of Mark is a great starting point for people new to Bible. It is the shortest Gospel, and doesn’t assume the reader has a lot of prior knowledge of the Gospel message or the Jewish religion. It also has a fast pace that will appeal to modern readers. For these same reasons, Mark makes a great “quick review” of the Gospel message for long-time believers.)

Sunday: Mark 1, 2
Monday: Mark 3, 4
Tuesday: Mark 5, 6
Wednesday: Mark 7:1 – 8:33
Thursday: Mark 8:34 – 10:52

Please Pray for Law Enforcement Officers Throughout America

Heavenly Father, please bless and have mercy on all law enforcement officers throughout these United States of America. These brave men and women put their lives on the line everyday to protect and serve their fellow Americans. Watch over them, protect them, and keep them safe. Guide them in their duties, and grant them courage and wisdom. Watch over and protect their families. Comfort those who have lost friends and loved ones in the line of duty. Let them all know your love and saving grace. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

I would also like to make everyone aware of the Officer Down Memorial Page which lists all law enforcement officers (including K9 units) killed in the line of duty throughout the United States. These people deserve to be remembered.

Pray For the Victims of Hurricane Matthew

Heavenly Father, please come to the help of all victims of Hurricane Matthew, which has devastated the country of Haiti, and has caused havoc, damage, injury, and even death throughout much of the Caribbean, Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Bring comfort, healing, and aid to all those in need. We believe, Father, that all trials of life are under Your care and that all things ultimately work for our good, even if we do not immediately understand how or why.  Take away our fear, anxiety and distress. Help us to face and endure all difficulties with faith, courage and wisdom. Help us to overcome and to grow our faith in You. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

PLEASE LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT PATRIOTS’ PRAYERS!

A Personal Prayer Request: Many of my regular readers know that I have diabetes, and that it has damaged my eyes. I have been receiving treatment for my eyes, including monthly injections in both eyes, plus laser surgery on my right eye, for over a year now.. The good news is that my vision is better now than it was last year. The bad news is that I am still having trouble with swelling and bleeding of my eyes, and I still have some fuzziness and distortions in my vision (what I describe as a “fun house mirror effect” around the periphery of my vision). I would greatly appreciate prayers for the healing of my eyes and the restoration of normal vision. Pray that God stop the bleeding of the capillaries within my eyes, reduce the swelling, and even-out the distortions, so that my vision will return to normal. Thank you for your prayers.

Amen.

Please read the Word of God this week!

Reading the Bible on a regular basis is something everyone needs to do. Not just occasionally. Not just once a week. Daily reading of God’s Word is essential for building  solid relationship with our Father in Heaven. If you are not doing so already, please make daily Bible reading a part of your life. There are dozens, if not hundreds or more, Bible reading plans you can follow. Your Bible may contain a daily reading plan. Several others can be found at the Bible Gateway website. Ask your pastor or priest for one. I will also start listing suggested readings each week as part of Patriot’s Prayers. Or simply design your own reading plan, as random or as organized as you wish. Whatever plan you choose, please start reading the bible every single day.

Sunday = Genesis 1:1 – 2:3
Monday = Genesis 2:4 – 3:24
Monday = John 3:1-21
Tuesday = Ephesians 6:10-19
Wednesday = Psalm 51
Thursday = Luke 5:1-11
Friday = Luke 6:27-36
Saturday = Psalm 119

The Bible teaches us that  all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). That “all” includes me, includes you, and includes every American. Calling for the repentance of our nation does no good if we, as individual Americans, refuse to repent in our own lives – to turn back to God – and to seek His forgiveness. Please continue to #PrayForAmerica this week. But also, remember to pray for yourself, as I will pray for myself. Let’s reset our footsteps on the path to God once again.

Prayer for America (short version)

God, we have sinned and deserve the just punishment for our sins, as a nation who has rejected You in every possible way. And, yet, Lord, I cry out for mercy for myself, my family, and this nation. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayer for Personal Repentance and Forgiveness

Psalm 51: 1 – 4 (NKJV)

1 Have mercy upon me, O God,
         According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
         Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
4 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
         And blameless when You judge.

I confess to my Heavenly Father, all my many sins. I am a sinner and have sinned against you in word, deed, thought, and omission. I come before you now placing all my sins – known and unknown, remembered and forgotten – upon the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ and ask that His precious blood wash me clean. I ask to be forgiven and set free.

I am sincerely sorry for having offended you. I ask forgiveness for all the times I failed to make You Lord over my life. Forgive me for those times I have broken Your commandments. Forgive me for not loving You with all my heart, soul, and mind; for not loving my neighbor as myself; and for disrespecting the temple of Your Holy Spirit by not taking better care of my health. Forgive me for not treating others as I want to be treated.

Please forgive me for the sins of pride, greed, lust, wrath, gluttony, envy, and sloth. Forgive me for my lack of self-control and discipline, as well as all other forms of unrighteousness.

(Here, please confess any recent specific sins that come to mind.)

I repent of these worldly ways and turn back to You, Lord, and ask forgiveness for these and all my sins. In the Name of Jesus the Christ, I pray. Amen.

What is wrong with America goes well beyond politics & economics. It is a spiritual sickness which infects the USA. No politician, no election, no piece of legislation, will cure spiritual sickness. We must appeal to a Higher Authority for that kind of healing. Patriots’ Prayers is an ongoing feature appearing each Sunday. Please join me in praying for America.

I believe our country is under demonic influence. The Halls of Power and Influence – government, corporations, the news media, academia, and popular culture – have not only turned from God’s ways, but often openly mock God, the Bible, and believers. Our leaders no longer look to God for their standards of right and wrong, replacing God’s absolute truths with the whim of their own opinions. I believe the Evil One and his cohorts are very active in America today. We are in a spiritual war. Prayer is an important weapon in this war. This week, I ask that everyone to join with me in praying against demonic influence.

    1) Against Demonic Influence (based on a traditional Orthodox prayer)

Almighty God, who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning, deliver these United States of America also from every influence of the unclean spirits. Command Satan to depart far from these United States by the power of Your only begotten Son. Amen.

This week’s special prayer challenge is to pray for our government leaders. I understand that many people are understandably disappointed in, and even angry with, the political class in America today. Our politicians and bureaucrats have let us down, and acted for their own benefit and against the rights and interests of We the People, and even against the standards of God. However, God has instructed His people to love and pray for all, friend, stranger, and enemy alike. Paul writes in his first letter to Timothy “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:1-4 ESV).

    2)  Prayer Challenge: For Our Government Officials
Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon all leaders, politicians, and civil authorities of these United States of America. I especially hold up to you President Barack Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, Chief Justice John Roberts, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. I also pray for all the President’s Cabinet members and advisers,  the associate judges of the Supreme Court, all federal, state, and local judges, all members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as all governors, state legislators, and local authorities. Grant them wisdom in their duties and decisions, and have them serve Your Will in all things. Block all of their plots and schemes that run counter to Your good and perfect Will, or that threaten the inalienable rights You have given to us. (Additionally, please feel free to pray by name for any elected officials at any level, especially those with jurisdiction over your locality.)

In addition to continuing to pray for America, for the next few weeks I am throwing out a special prayer challenge each week to motivate folks to start praying for those people around you that you ordinarily might not think to pray for…

    Special Prayer Challenge

Is there someone you know that, for whatever reason, you just don’t like? Is there anyone you are holding a grudge against? Maybe an annoying neighbor? Or a co-worker that took credit for something you did? Or a relative you have just never gotten along with? Or perhaps a friend that you had a falling out with? PRAY FOR THEM. Yes. I am asking you to pray for someone you don’t like. Pray for someone you think of as an enemy. PRAY FOR THEM.

First, in prayer, release any grudge you may have against them; release any anger, bitterness, or desire for revenge against them. Forgive them. THEN, ask God’s forgiveness for holding onto the grudge rather than forgiving them earlier. FINALLY, pray for God to save them, bless them, and show mercy on them.

This special prayer challenge may be very difficult for some, especially those not ready to forgive. But, it is how God wants us to treat others. Remember, too, that forgive does NOT mean to forget. If someone has harmed you, you can forgive them without allowing them the opportunity to hurt you again. Nor does forgiveness mean you must free someone from the consequences of their actions.

    • Know someone (family, friend, neighbor, co-worker) who does not know God? Pray for their salvation – that God opens up their heart to a relationship with Him.
    • Know someone who is struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. Pray for them by name – that God works in their life to help them overcome their addiction.
    • Know any single parents? Pray for them by name – that God grant them the strength bear the responsibility of single parenthood, and the wisdom to raise good children.
    • Know someone struggling with any form of sexual sin? Pray for them – that God gently corrects their sin and brings them back into accord with His will for their life.
    • Know someone struggling with a job loss or financial problems? Pray for them.
    • Know someone with serious health issues? Pray for them.
    • Know an elderly or disabled person living alone? Pray for them.
    • Know someone in prison? Pray for them.
Prayer For Forgiveness and Repentance of America (short version)

God, we have sinned and deserve the just punishment for our sins as a nation who has rejected you in e very possible way. And yet, Lord, I cry out for mercy for myself, my family, and this nation. In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christi, I pray. Amen. (This prayer is taken from the cartoon I shared on 8-7-2016.)

Prayer For Forgiveness and Repentance of America (long version)

    For Our Government Officials

Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon all leaders, politicians, and civil authorities of these United States of America. I especially hold up to you President Barack Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, Chief Justice John Roberts, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. I also pray for all the President’s Cabinet members and advisers,  the associate judges of the Supreme Court, all federal, state, and local judges, all members of the House of Representatives and Senate, as well as all governors, state legislators, and local authorities.

Pray for the Church and Clergy in America

Remember, O Lord, Your Church, which You purchased with Your precious blood – protect it, strengthen it, and multiply it. Keep Your Church in peace, and bring to naught all plots and threats against Your Church. Have mercy, O Lord, upon the whole clergy of Your Church in America, and grant them the wisdom, courage, and strength needed to boldly preach Your Word and do Your Will during these perilous times. Have them stand strong for Your Word, and not yield to the pressure of legal threats or political correctness to water-down Your Word. (Please pray by name for your pastor or priest, Sunday School teachers, and others in ministry.

Pray for Safety of Law Enforcement and Other First Responders

Watch over, O Lord, and protect all those who serve as law enforcement officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and other first responders. Bless them, have mercy on them, and keep them safe during these dangerous times. Most importantly, Lord, reach out to them, and bring them into a saving relationship with You. For it is in Your name, Jesus, that we pray. Amen. (Please pray by name for any LEOs or other first responders that you know.)

Let my prayer be directed in thy sight as incense, and the [a]lifting up of mine hands as an evening sacrifice. –Psalm 141:2 (1599 Geneva Bible)

Prayer doesn’t have to be long or elaborate to reach God. There are no “right words” that must be said for God to hear your prayer. God hears all prayers. This week, I ask that you pray a short, simple prayer for America each night before you go to bed. Use the prayer from the above cartoon, or make one up a similar one yourself. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just sincere. Keep it short and simple. It could take less than a minute. Do this, and keep the following verse in mind:

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

This week is the one-year anniversary of the Patriots’ Prayers weekly series on my website (www.TimGamble.com). When I began Patriots’ Prayers last year, I wrote: “What is wrong with America goes well beyond politics & economics. It is a spiritual sickness which infects the USA. No politician, no election, no piece of legislation, will cure spiritual sickness. We must appeal to a Higher Authority for that kind of healing.” With Patriots’ Prayers, I hoped to encourage folks to do just that – appeal to God on behalf of America, to seek His forgiveness and a renewal of His blessings on our nation.

Over the last year, hundreds (probably thousands) of people have joined together to Pray for America. On my website alone, Patriots’ Prayers have received well over 10,000 readers. But in addition to my website, Patriots’ Prayers is also carried weekly on www.PrepperChurch.com. And I’ve had many people tell that they share Patriots’ Prayers with their Bible study group or Sunday School class. I’ve even had a couple of pastors tell me that they have prayed Patriots’ Prayers from the pulpit during church service! I humbly want to thank everyone for praying with me, and ask that you continue to do so, and to help spread the word. America is still lost, and needs to find its way once again. It has taken us many year, many decades, to get to the low point that we are at now. It is to be expected that it will take more than just a year to restore America. Keep praying!!!

Folks, as I look around America today, I am shocked by what I see. Anger. Hatred. Decadence. Murder. Terror. A country divided. Political and social turmoil beyond what I’ve experienced before. There is blood in the streets. A spiritual sickness infects the USA. I believe we are literally under demonic attack. I ask that you pray two prayers this week. The first is the Prayer for Repentance and Forgiveness for America. The second is a prayer against demonic influence for our nation, which I have adapted from a traditional Orthodox prayer. May our Heavenly Father hear our prayers!

    Against Demonic Influence

Almighty God, who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning, deliver these United States of America also from every influence of unclean spirits. Command Satan and his minions to depart far from these United States by the power of Your only begotten Son. Rescue this nation and its peple from demonic delusion and darkness. Fill the American people with the light of the Holy Spirit that we may be guarded against the snares of crafty demons. Grant that angels always watch over our nation and lead us to the path of righteousness forever, to the honor of Your glorious name, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

In the name of our Lord and Savior , we pray. Amen.

The Way I Pray For America

Click here to view the original post.

As I told you yesterday, all of us who believe in the power of prayer can have a tremendous impact on the spiritual war being waged against America.  God has increased my knowledge about the roots of the problems that plague our nation; and politics, money, and human power will never solve them.
As I have studied spiritual warfare over the past few years, it has become very clear that our country is under demonic opposition and attack.  The deterioration of our society is ample evidence of the Enemy’s influence through the assignments given to satan’s provocateurs and generals.  However, I have also come to know the importance of Prayer and the Word of God as powerful weapons in our battle to destroy satan’s strongholds.  So, I would like to give you an example of how I am praying for our country.
I have no formula, and I do not mechanically pray, but when I pray I have a very clear idea of how I want to approach my God and who I am battling.  I will show you how I pray (and why I specifically pray in that manner).

    Heavenly Father,

I humbly, yet boldly, approach your throne as part of the privilege I have as your child.  Your Word tells me in Hebrews 4:16, that I can “approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that our nation may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [Your amazing] grace to help in this time of our great need.
Father, I bow down at your throne, and ask that you consider my request as you did the requests of Moses when he pleaded on behalf of the rebellious Israelites.  Over and over again, when they turned their backs on You, You forgave them and restored them to Your favor.  I confess, Father, that we have turned away from You and opened spiritual doors for Evil to transform us in ways that dishonor You and threaten our eternal souls.  So, I repent of the sins of this nation, ask for Your forgiveness, and humbly request that You send Your warring angels on our behalf.

And now, Father, I specifically ask that You make us into a strong, bold, spiritual army.  I speak Your Word into the spiritual realms:  “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.  We use Your mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.  We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing You.  We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ”. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
Father, in the name of Jesus, I renounce the spirit of AntiChrist and the demonic spirits of anger, hatred and murder that have overwhelmed our country in recent days.  I renounce, in the mighty name of Jesus, the demonic spirits of division and discord that feed upon our sins, and I pray that Your heavenly hosts would be put on assignment to place every spirit of disharmony and disunity under Your authority.  I invite you, Lord Jesus, to take the throne of the realm of this nation, and rule over this territory with Your rod of iron.  In Your name, Jesus, I bind all of satan’s gatekeepers and I place each and every portal access belonging to him and his followers under Your authority.
I place the blood of Jesus upon every portal and open door of evil and seal them with the Holy Spirit.  I take the sword of the Spirit and the Word of God, which are the strongest weapons I have, and I cut this nation free from satan’s realm and his inheritance.  I appeal to Your Justice, Father, and declare that as a man sows, so shall he reap.  Therefore, I pray that satan and his prince of America would now reap a hundred fold return for all of the evil sown against us individually, and as a nation.
In the name of Jesus, I take authority over every demon that has been operating under the authority of satan and the rulers assigned to the United States, and I declare that they are discovered, apprehended, bound, pierced through, and thrust off us for judgment.  I declare that these demonic spirits will be sent to where the Lord Jesus sends them. And I place the Cross between them and this nation, so that they may never return.
Father, in this day, when we mourn the senseless deaths that plague our nation, and when it seems that godless men and godless laws are destroying the very foundation of our lives, Your Word brings courage and strength to us.  You have promised that “whoever listens to Me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil” (Psalm 112).  Father, raise up an army of faithful people who will obey You and overcome the evil that is invading our land.  Protect us as we battle our spiritual enemies, and do not let their evil schemes succeed.
And now, Father, I put on the armor of God; the complete armor you provide me in these days of battle … I put on the belt of Truth, which is Your Truth — not the truth of the world, not my own truth, nor the truth of the Enemy.  It is the truth of Your character and Your promises; it is the truth that is the foundation of my life.  Next, I put on the breastplate of righteousness, which protects my heart, where your laws have been written.  It is a free-will choice that I make to put that breastplate on and to determine to walk in the footsteps of Christ.  And in the midst of heated battle, that breastplate is also a symbol to those in the spiritual realm — they recognize which I side belong to, and Whom I obey.  I also strap on the sandals of the peace of the Gospel; the Good News that “He who began a good work in me will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”. That brings such peace to my spirit and soul.  I know there is a purpose ordained for my life, and God will see it through to its conclusion.  I also embrace the peace that comes from knowing Jesus is forever with me; He will never leave me nor forsake me.  I then pick up the shield of Faith, which is my trust and confidence in Jesus Christ as my Savior.  It is also the faithfulness of You, Father, in protecting me from the fiery darts of the Enemy.  I praise You for the countless times I have been protected and shielded without even knowing it.  And lastly, I wield the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, who is Jesus, my Savior, and the Lord and Master of my soul.  When I speak the Word of God out loud in this physical realm, it is a mighty weapon to defeat any spirit that might come against me.  When my spirit speaks the Word into the spirit realm, it may not be heard in this world, but it destroys strongholds in the spiritual world.
So, I now proclaim Psalm 18:2-3:  “The Lord God is my Rock, and my Fortress, and my Deliverer.  He is my strength, and my God in whom I trust.  He is my Shield, and the power and strength behind my salvation, and He is my tower of refuge.  I will praise the Lord, for He is worthy to be praised, and I will be saved from my enemies”.  And I declare Ephesians 3:20-21:  “Now, to Him, whose Power is at work in me; who is able to carry out His purpose (in my life and in the world), and to do it more abundantly than I could ever dare to ask or think; to Him be the Glory in His Church, in Yeshua, my Savior, and to all the generations to come.  So be it!  Amen.”

This is just a sample of the way I pray.  It is always in the name of Jesus, and I claim the power and authority that He has given me to trample on snakes and scorpions (demons and fallen ones), and to overcome all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).  He tells me that nothing can harm us.  Mind you, I never overstep my authority… I am bold in battling spiritual enemies, but always partnering with Jesus and the Holy Spirit… never in my own power.  The Bible tells me that my spirit is seated in the heavenly realms with Jesus, so this is not just a battle in this physical realm.  The Holy Spirit helps me to picture my spirit, in complete armor, battling side-by-side with the army of holy angels, striking down strongholds of the enemy.  The Spirit helps me to identify the specific demonic weapons and spirits being used against me and the nation, and enables me to bind them, in the name of Jesus, and render them powerless and ineffective.  I can actually visualize the battle!
I know this may seem bizarre to many of you; you’ve never heard it in the Church.  And that’s the problem!  Our prayers are weak and ineffectual because we have lost the sense of our power and authority in the spiritual realm.  Read the Book of Acts!  It is the model for what the Church should be, and how we, as followers of Christ, should be continuing His work on this earth.  For nearly 2000 years, the devil has had a field day, lying to us and counterfeiting the Gospel Message and twisting it into one of tolerance for godless ways, hostility, and love for ourselves, rather than others.  Once we abandoned God, we gave ourselves over to the temptations of the evil one, and opened the doors for demonic oppression and persecution.  We have lost the way to fight back; and we have lost the knowledge that the Apostles taught the First Century Church.  Therefore, we are “tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching [and shifting doctrine]. We are influenced by people who try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth” (Ephesians 4:14).
I cannot tell you the fruit I have seen in my life, and the life of others whom I have prayed for after I searched God’s Word regarding spiritual warfare.  It’s there for us to see … IF we have the eyes to see it, and the renewed heart to discern it.

Deuteronomy 28:7   “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.”

As you are most likely aware, law enforcement officers were ambushed at a Black Lives Matter rally in Dallas, Texas, this week. Five police officers were murdered, and many others were wounded. The murderer was an individual who stated that he “wished to kill white people, especially white cops,” no doubt motivated by the lies, anger, and hatred intentionally spread by those who practice such divisiveness for political and ideological gain. Let us not stoop to their level, but rather rise up in prayer. Please pray throughout this week for the family and friends of those officers killed in the line of duty, and for the safety and well-being for law enforcement officers throughout our nation.

Please pray for the family and friends of the officers murdered in Dallas:

    • Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens
    • Police Officer Michael Krol
    • Sergeant Michael Smith
    • Police Officer Brent Thompson
    • Police Officer Patrick Zamarripa

Please pray for healing for the seven officers and two civilians wounded in Dallas.

Please Pray for Law Enforcement Officers Throughout America

Heavenly Father, bless and have mercy on all law enforcement officers throughout these United States of America.

“Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” — Psalm 141:2 (NKJV)

    Please Pray for America

Please also remember these prayer points throughout the week:

    • Pray for the victims of the devastating flooding in West Virginia, with at least 26 dead and hundreds left homeless.
    • Pray for all those still suffering in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Orlando – the injured recovering from their wounds, the survivors dealing with the emotional stress and turmoil, and those grieving for murdered loved ones.
    • Pray for all those serving as police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and other first responders.
    • Pray for all current and former members of our military.
    • Pray especially for your pastor or priest, and for your home church.

This week, I hope you will join me in praying for our government officials and for the Church and clergy in America.

Grant them wisdom in their duties and decisions, and have them serve Your will in all things. Block all of their plots and schemes that run counter to Your good and perfect will, or that threaten the inalienable rights You have given to us. In the name of our Lord Jesus we pray, Amen. (Additionally, please feel free to pray by name for any elected officials at any level, especially those with jurisdiction over your locality.)

    For the Church in America

Heavenly Father, please remember Your Church, which You purchased with Your precious blood – protect it, strengthen it, and multiply it. Keep Your Church in peace, and bring to naught all plots and threats against Your Church. Have mercy, O Lord, upon the whole clergy of Your Church, and grant them the courage, wisdom, and strength needed to boldly preach and do Your Will during these perilous times. In the name of our Lord Jesus we pray, Amen. (Please pray by name for your church, your pastor or priest, and fellow church members.)

This Week’s Patriots’ Prayer  is a Prayer of Thanksgiving, inspired by Psalm 100.

Heavenly Father, we come into your presence with joy and singing, offering You all our praise and worship. You are God. You are the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer. You are our Shepherd. Watch over us, protect us, and have mercy on us.

We enter into your gates with thanksgiving, into your courts with praise. We are thankful to You, and bless your Holy Name, for You are good in all your ways, and your Truth lasts throughout all generations.

We thank You for the inalienable rights You have given to us, which no government, no court, no politician, no worldly power, has the authority to take away from us.

Thank You for our Right to Life – the very first right, without which there can be no other rights.

Thank You for our right to worship You and to live our lives according to Your will without interference from worldly authorities. Help us to hold firm against those who would take away our Freedom of Religion.

Thank You for our right to express our thoughts and opinions without fear of government reprisal. Help us to resist calls to limit Freedom of Speech, whether through laws or through political correctness.

Thank You for our right to report and receive news without the control or approval of worldly authorities. Freedom of the Press is essential.

Thank You for these and all our rights and freedoms you have given to us, and that our forefathers had the wisdom to enshrine in our nation’s founding documents. Help us to hold on to those precious freedoms.

Amen.

    A Prayer for America*

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. We, the people of these United States of America, acknowledge You as our Creator, our Redeemer, and our Sustainer. Forgive us as individuals and as a nation for not acknowledging You as we should.

You have given to every individual certain inalienable rights. Those inalienable rights come from You, and You alone. No one – no politician, no judge, no government, no worldly authority – can take those rights from us. Those rights of every individual cannot be voided or abdicated, even by majority vote. Forgive us for those times we have allowed those rights to be limited or taken away, rather out of fear, greed, foolishness, or just thoughtlessness.

O Lord, we know that the proper role of government is to protect those rights you have given to us. Government is to secure those rights for us from all threats, foreign and domestic. It is not the role of government to control or restrict those rights You have given to us. Forgive us for allowing our government to grow way beyond its proper role, and to assume powers that are not proper to government.

Father, You are the arbiter of right and wrong, good and evil. You are the source of moral law, which You have given to us, fixed in Your perfect Word. As a nation, we have replaced the authority and perfection of Your Word with the whim of our own opinions for our standards of right and wrong. We no longer keep Your commandments, or follow Your teachings. Forgive us, and guide us to once again look to You for our moral standards.

Pray For the United States of America

Special Prayer Request

Not all of the Americans being held by Iran have been released. Please pray for God’s mercy and healing on the three Americans being held hostage in Iran. Pray for them to have the courage and strength they need to survive their ordeal. Pray that their captivity quickly come to an end, and that they return safely home very soon. Pray also for God to provide comfort and mercy to their families and friends.

    • Robert Levinson – now 68, went missing while in Iran in 2007. In 2010, his family received proof that he was still alive and being held prisoner. According to the AP, there is reason to believe that Levinson, a former FBI and DEA agent, was working undercover for the CIA at the time of his disappearance.
    • Siamak Namazi – an Iranian-American businessman arrested in late October of 2015 while visiting relatives in Tehran. Details of his arrest are sketchy, and any charges have not been made public. However, it appears he was arrested by the intelligence division of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and apparently is being held in Evin prison.
    • Baquer Namazi – the 80-year-old father of Siamak Namazi, was arrested in February, and is reportedly being held in the same prison as his son. Baquer Namazi is a dual US-Iranian citizen.

On July 4, 1952, Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton Hotel chain, took out full page ads in several major magazines, offering the following Prayer for America. As true, and as needed, as Hilton’s prayer was in 1952, it is even moreso today. Please pray this prayer with me throughout this week, making it our Prayer for America today.

    OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN
WE PRAY that YOU save us from ourselves

The world that YOU have made for us, to live in peace,
we have made into an armed camp.
We live in fear of war to come.

We are afraid of “the terror that flies by
night, and the arrow that flies by day,
the pestilence that walks in darkness
and the destruction that wastes at noon-day”
We have turned from YOU to go our selfish way.
    We have broken YOUR commandments
and denied YOUR truth. We have left YOUR altars
to serve the false gods of money and pleasure and power.

    FORGIVE US AND HELP US

Now, darkness gathers around us and we are confused
in all our counsels. Losing faith in YOU,
    we lose faith in ourselves.
Inspire us with wisdom, all of us of every color, race and creed,
to use our wealth, our strength to help our brother,
    instead of destroying him.

Help us to do YOUR will as it is done in heaven
and to be worthy of YOUR promise of peace on earth.

Fill us with new faith, new strength and new courage,
that we may win the Battle for Peace.

Be swift to save us, dear God,
    before the darkness falls.

In the ads, Hilton’s prayer was preambled with this comment:

AMERICA ON ITS KNEES  ……not beaten there by the hammer & sickle, but FREELY, INTELLIGENTLY, RESPONSIBLY, CONFIDENTLY, POWERFULLY America now knows it can destroy communism & win the battle for peace. We need fear nothing or no one……except GOD.

What is wrong with America goes well beyond politics & economics. It is a spiritual sickness which infects the USA. No politician, no candidate, no election, no piece of legislation, will cure spiritual sickness. We must appeal to a Higher Authority for that kind of healing. Patriots’ Prayers is a weekly feature appearing each Sunday. Please join me each week in praying for America.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. Keep them all safe during these chaotic and emotional times. Grant them wisdom and have them serve Your Will in all things. A Prayer for the Middle-East

O Lord, bring an end to the tragedy and suffering in the Middle East. Millions of Christians are being persecuted for their beliefs by Islamists, forced to flee their homes or face being killed, often in horrifying ways. Christian women and children are being raped and forced into sex-slavery. Deliver Your Church and Your people from every evil with Your mighty hand. Help us, O God, for You were crucified and died for the salvation of all. Help us, that among us and in all the world, hatred may be replaced with love, unrest may be replaced with peace, and sorrow may be replaced with happiness. Remember our enemies, those who hate and oppress Your people, and repay them not according to their deeds, but rather give them reason and understanding, and bring them into relationship with You.

Save, O Lord, and protect the Yazidis, who are also under attack from Islamists, and likewise face murder, rape, and sex-slavery.

Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon the nation of Israel. Shield it with Your love, protect it, and let it know peace. Send Your light and wisdom to its leaders, and direct them with Your good counsel.

Bless, O Lord, and strengthen the defenders of our Holy Land; O God, grant them salvation and crown them with victory. Establish peace in the land and everlasting joy for its inhabitants. This we pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our enemies, who reject You and embrace the worldly system ruled by the Evil One, are many, and clever, and seem to multiple each day. Much of the daily news is ripe with their deeds, which are sickening and discouraging. Morality, good and evil, right and wrong, those absolute truths that You have revealed to us, have been perverted, with wrong being declared right, and good being declared evil. But You are the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Redeemer. In You, we find the strength and courage we need to persevere during these evil times.

Forgive us for our sins as a nation and as individuals. Save us, have mercy on us, and bless us. Treat us not as we deserve, but according to Your loving kindness and tender mercy.

There was a news story in the media last week about the rise of exorcism. According to the article there has been a sharp increase in exorcisms and claims of demon-possession worldwide. I don’t know if exorcisms have become fashionable and trendy, or if the Satan’s armies are really have increased their activities as of late. But I do know, because the Bible does report it, that demons are very real.

In this weeks’ Patriots’ Prayers, I present two prayers for protection against demonic influence.  The first is a traditional Orthodox prayer of protection from demonic influences for ourselves as individuals. The second is the same prayer, slightly rewritten by me, for protection from demonic influences for our country. These two prayers are then followed by the prayer for forgiveness and repentance of the United States, which is the “backbone” prayer in each week’s Patriots’ Prayers. Please pray these prayers now, and several times throughout the coming week.

Prayer against Demonic Influence (for ourselves)

Almighty God, who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning, deliver me also from every influence of the unclean spirits. Command Satan to depart far from me by the power of Your only begotten Son. Rescue me from demonic delusion and darkness. Fill me with the light of the Holy Spirit that I may be guarded against the snares of the crafty demons. Grant that an angel always go before me and lead me to the path of righteousness all the days of my life, to the honor of Your glorious name, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer against Demonic Influence (for our nation)

Almighty God, who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning, deliver these United States of America also from every influence of the unclean spirits. Command Satan to depart far from these United States by the power of Your only begotten Son. Rescue this nation and its peple from demonic delusion and darkness. Amen.

Prayer for Forgiveness and Repentance of America

HE IS RISEN!

Western Christians celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ today (Eastern Christians will celebrate it in a few weeks). In keeping with the joyous nature of Easter, I am repeating a prayer of thanksgiving in this week’s Patriots’ Prayers:

Heavenly Father,  we come into your presence with joy, offering You all our praise and worship. O Lord, You are God. You are the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer.  O Lord, You are our Shepherd. Watch over us, protect us, and have mercy on us.

We thank You for the rights You have given to us, which no government, no court, and no official has the authority to take away from us.

Thank You for our Freedom of Religion – the right to both worship You, and to live our lives according to Your will, without interference from the government or other worldly authorities. Help us to hold firm against those trying to water-down our freedom of religion into something less.

Thank You for our Freedom of Speech – the right to express our thoughts and opinions without fear of reprisal. Help us to resist calls to limit free speech, whether through laws or through political correctness.

Thank You for our Freedom of Self-Defense, and the right to possess and use the tools of self-defense.  Block the attempts of those who would to make us defenseless before our enemies, to make us dependent solely on the whims and limitations of government for our protection.

Thank You for these and all our rights and freedoms you have given to us, and that our forefathers had the wisdom to enshrine in our nation’s founding documents. Help us to hold on to those precious freedoms.

Our enemies, who reject You and embrace the worldly system ruled by the Evil One, are many, and clever, and seem to multiple each day. “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. — Ephesians 4:26-27

There are two types of anger – Righteous Anger, which is not a sin, and Wrath, which is considered one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Righteous Anger is a way of expressing strong disagreement with the sinful, unjust words and deeds around us. Jesus expressed Righteous Anger when he confronted the money-changers at the Temple (see John 2:13-16), when He made a whip and used it against the them, overturning tables, scattering money, and driving them from the Temple. Righteous Anger motivates us to accomplish good, by confronting Evil.

Wrath, on the other hand, is uncontrolled anger, rage. It is marked by a lack of self-control, impairs our reason, is without discernment, and is often misdirected. Wrath usually draws us deeper into sin. It often encourages us to act in petty and spiteful ways, rather than out of love. Wrath can lead us to lash out in violence, well beyond what is needed for self-defense or to address an unjust situation. Wrath tempts us to seek revenge or vengeance, both forbidden to us (see Romans 12:19).

In America today, there is lots of anger. Some of it is Righteous Anger. Much of it is Wrath. Let us be motivated by Righteous Anger to confront injustice and Evil, for there is much to confront. But let us avoid sinful Wrath, and the Evil that comes with it.

    Prayer To Forsake Wrath

Heavenly Father, there is much cause for Righteous Anger in America today. Our Government is trying to limit our inalienable rights that You have granted to us, and is stealing our property through taxes and regulations. We are treated as little more than slaves to the State. Our politicians lie to us. They scheme behind our backs, out of their own arrogance and power-lust. We have just cause for our Righteous Anger, but not for Wrath. Never Wrath.

Help to to confront Evil with Righteous Anger, and to forsake Wrath. Let the words that Paul wrote to the Ephesians guide our prayer: Let us be angry, but not sin. Let us not lose self-control in our Wrath. Let no corrupt words proceed out of our mouths. Instead, help us speak only what is good for necessary edification and correction of Evil, that our words may impart grace to the hearers.  Let all malice, bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from us. Help us to confront Evil, but to temper our anger with love and mercy.

In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

Please Continue to Pray for Forgiveness and Repentance of the United States

Supporting Verse:If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

Please Pray for our Government Officials

Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon all leaders, politicians, and civil authorities of these United States of America. I especially hold up to you President Barack Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden, Chief Justice John Roberts, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. I also pray for all the President’s Cabinet members and advisers,  the associate judges of the Supreme Court, all federal, state, and local judges, all members of the House of Representatives and Senate, as well as all governors, state legislators, and local authorities.

Supporting Verse: First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 1 Timothy 2: 1-4 (ESV)

Please Pray for the Church in America

Remember, O Lord, Your Church, which You purchased with Your precious blood – protect it, strengthen it, and multiply it. Keep Your Church in peace, and bring to naught all plots and threats against Your Church. Have mercy, O Lord, upon the whole clergy of Your Church, and grant them the courage, wisdom, and strength needed to boldly preach and do Your Will during these perilous times.  (Please also pray by name for your church, your pastor or priest, and fellow church members.)

    Supporting Verse:Brothers, pray for us.” — 1 Thessalonians 5: 25 (ESV)  {Paul requesting prayer for Silas, Timothy, and himself.}

    A Prayer For America

Save and protect, O Lord, these United States of America and have mercy on us. Heavenly Father, that which is wrong with America goes well beyond politics or economics. It is a spiritual sickness which infects our country. No politician, no candidate, no man can cure spiritual sickness. We turn now to You as the only source of our forgiveness and healing.

As a nation, we have turned our backs on You and have sinned. As a nation, as a people, we no longer look to You and Your Word for our standards of right and wrong, replacing those absolute truths with the whim of our own opinions, ever-changing with the trends and fashions of the times. Forgive us for our foolish ways, and help us to repent and turn back to You, and to Your Word as our standard of Truth.

Help us, O Lord, to seek Your wisdom, and to keep Your commandments. Help us to no longer compromise with the world, but to stand firm on Your absolute truths.

Blessed is Your name, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

    Pray without ceasing. — 1 Thessalonians 5:17

I want to do something a little bit different with this week’s Patriots’ Prayers. I am asking everyone to join me in praying the Lord’s Prayer every day this week. Most Christians know the Lord’s Prayer by heart, so there is no need to come back to this webpage every day. But, please, try to remember to pray it each day.

I’m also asking that you pray by name for the individuals in your life – family, friends, neighbors, co-workers – who may be in need of prayer. I’m including a list of ideas below.

    The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread;
    and forgive us our trespasses
    as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
Here is the Lord’s Prayer sung as an anthem by Carman. May it inspire your worship & prayers.

Pray for Your Family, Friends, and Neighbors Throughout the Week

    • Know someone struggling with a job loss or financial issues? Pray for them.
    • Know someone with serious health issues? Pray for them.
    • Know an elderly or disabled person living alone? Pray for them.
    • Know someone who is grieving over a recent loss of a loved one? Pray for them.
    • Know someone in prison? Pray for them.

This week I want to encourage everyone to pray for the Church in America, as well as the clergy and others in leadership positions – pastors, priests, missionaries, elders, deacons, Sunday school teachers, and so forth…

Pray for the Church in America

Remember, O Lord, your Church, which You purchased with your precious blood – protect it, strengthen it, and multiply it. Keep your Church in peace, and bring to naught all plots and threats against your Church. Heal all divisions and reunite us in Christ.

Protect our precious Freedom of Religion, that enables us to both worship You and to live our lives in accordance with your will. Protect our Freedom of Speech, so that we can continue to boldly proclaim your Gospel, and teach your commandments, to our fellow countrymen and throughout the world.

Have mercy, O Lord, upon the whole clergy of your Church, as well as all others in positions of leadership within your Church. Grant them the courage, wisdom, and strength needed to boldly preach, teach, and do your will during these perilous times, without compromise to worldly pressures and political correctness.

No politician, no election, no piece of legislation, will cure spiritual sickness. We must appeal to a Higher Authority for that kind of healing.

In the name of our Lord and Savior , we pray. Amen.

    * Proverbs 22:3
    ** Psalm 119:97-98
    *** 1 Corinthians 6:19
    **** Proverbs 22:7
    ***** 1 Timothy 5:8

One of the crowd said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”… So Jesus said to him, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” — Mark 29:17, 18, 29

Save and protect, O Lord, these United States of America and have mercy on us.

Father, that which is wrong with America goes well beyond politics and economics. It is a spiritual sickness which infects the USA. No politician, no election, no piece of legislation, will cure spiritual sickness. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age. We know by your teachings that certain demons are more powerful than others, and that those cannot be cast aside easily, but only through the power of prayer.

Therefore, in prayer we turn to You, who delivered Your people from the bondage of the adversary, and through Your Son cast down Satan like lightning. We ask in prayer that You deliver these United States of America also from every influence of the unclean spirits. Command Satan, his demons, and all the principalities, powers, and rulers of the darkness of this age, to depart far from these United States by the power of Your only begotten Son. Rescue this nation and its people from demonic influence, delusion and darkness. Fill the American people with the light of the Holy Spirit that we may be guarded against the snares of the crafty demons. Grant that angels always watch over our nation and lead us to the path of righteousness forever, to the honor of Your glorious name, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

I base this prayer on Jesus’ healing of the demon possessed boy after His disciples had failed (Mark 9:14-29), on Paul’s teaching regarding prayer & “the whole armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-20), and on a traditional Orthodox prayer against demonic influence. I hope you will pray this prayer often this week, and please share this prayer with others.

So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” –Ezekiel 22:30 (NKJV)

Prayer for these United States of America

Our Father in Heaven, We come before You now, standing in the gap for our nation.  Have mercy upon these United States of America, according to Your lovingkindness and tender mercies.

    Special Prayer Request

Please pray for God’s mercy on the two remaining Americans being held hostage in Iran. Pray for them to have the courage and strength they need to survive their ordeal. Pray for any healing they need, that their captivity quickly come to an end, and that they return safely home very soon. Pray also for God to provide comfort and mercy to their families and friends.

    • Robert Levinson – now 67, went missing while in Iran in 2007. In 2010, his family received proof that he was still alive and being held prisoner. Mr. Levinson is known to be in poor health, suffering from several health conditions including type 1 diabetes.
    • Siamak Namazi – an Iranian-American businessman arrested in late October while visiting relatives in Tehran. Details of his arrest are sketchy, and any charges have not been made public. However, it appears he was arrested by the intelligence division of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and apparently is being held in Evin prison.

In answer to prayers, a total of five Americans held hostage in Iran have been  freed – Pastor Saeed Abedini, journalist Jason Rezaian, former US Marine Amir Hekmati, student Matt Trevithick, and businessman Nosratollah Khosravi-Roodsari. However, two Americans have not been freed – businessman Siamak Namazi, and former FBI agent Robert Levinson. In this week’s Patriots’ Prayers, let us thank God for those answered prayers, and let us continue to pray for those still being held.

Heavenly Father, Heavenly Father, we come into your presence with joy and singing, offering You all our praise and worship. We enter into your gates with thanksgiving, into your courts with praise. We are thankful to You, and bless your Holy Name, for You are good in all your ways, and your Truth lasts throughout all generations.

Thank You for the release of Americans held hostage in Iran. Thank you for answering all the prayers for the freedom of Saeed Abedini, Jason Rezaian, Amir Hekmati, Matt Trevithick, and Nosratollah Khosravi-Roodsari. Please continue to have mercy on them and their families, bring all needed healing and comfort to them.

Father, we continue to lift up to You the two remaining Americans being held in Iran – Siamak Namazi and Robert Levinson. We pray for their health, safety, and freedom. Robert Levinson is of particular concern, Father, having been held since 2007, and having not been seen or heard from since 2010, when it was known he was in poor health. Have mercy on these men, and comfort their families.

In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

Also this week, please make a special point pray for the Church and clergy in America:

Remember, O Lord, Your Church, which You purchased with Your precious blood – protect it, strengthen it, and multiply it. Keep Your Church in peace, and bring to naught all plots and threats against Your Church. Have mercy, O Lord, upon the whole clergy of Your Church, and grant them the courage, wisdom, and strength needed to boldly preach and do Your Will during these perilous times.  (Please continue to pray by name for your church, your pastor or priest, and fellow church members.)

    Does Prayer Really Change Things?

    Does Prayer Really Change Things?

The front-page headline from the New York Daily News following a mass shooting in December screamed “God Isn’t Fixing This,” and various other outlets ran articles deriding people for offering “thoughts and prayers” to those involved.

It was an attack on Christianity and prayer, but it did raise several questions that deserve an answer: Why do we pray? Does prayer change anything? Are there any real benefits to prayer?

Of course, prayer has volumes of books written about it, so to stay within the confines of a single article I’ll have to summarize fairly succinctly. The big picture and bottom line for believers is twofold:

    1. We are commanded to pray, and it is a daily reaffirmation that we are acknowledging that God is God, and we are not.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

    2. We are to follow Jesus’ example.

He came for two reasons: To save us from our sins and to show us how we are to live our lives. Jesus prayed consistently in order to stay in the Father’s will. How can we think that we are in better spiritual shape than Him?

“And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed” (Mark 1:35).

So, are prayers always answered? The answer is cliche, but true nonetheless: Yes, your prayers are always heard and answered, but sometimes God says “no.” This is really a simple thing to understand when you consider our relationship to God as His children.

God is omniscient and knows what is best for us. He wants us to live according to His will, so when we pray according to His will, the answer is always “yes.” Put another way, prayer is the “vehicle” through which God has chosen to work His will. So does prayer change things? Yes!

    Does Prayer Really Change Things?

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15).

However, that doesn’t mean that the answer means right now, and this is where the Father-child relationship helps explain things. If your 5-year-old asks for a car, you would say “no.” Not because he or she shouldn’t ever have a car, but because the timing isn’t right. At 17 you might say “yes.” Same request, different circumstances. In the first case the answer is not yet, although the child may perceive it as a “no.”

Similarly, if your teenager asks to go on a trip to Mexico, by foot, on a path through Juarez, you’d say no. Not because you don’t want them to travel, but because that particular trip would quite dangerous. But they may not know or understand that. That particular “no” is for their own good, and not to deny them a vacation.

    Final Thoughts

There actually have been studies that show prayer has a positive physical and psychological impact on people. One such study was highlighted in an article by NBC news, where doctors reported about the changes in brain chemistry during prayer by patients. Many other studies have also shown the medical benefits of prayer, and I would recommend studying the topic.

As far as whether God is “fixing this” or not, and whether the “thoughts and prayers” of others have any impact, the answer is this: God has a plan, and it will happen the way He wants. If our prayers line up with His plan, we’ll see the impact at the right time. So while our “thoughts” really do nothing more than make us feel good or express our sympathies, our prayers most definitely have an impact. Even if that impact isn’t immediately manifested.

Heavenly Father,  we come into your presence with joy, offering You all our praise and worship. O Lord, You are God. You are the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer.  O Lord, You are our Shepherd. Watch over us, protect us, and have mercy on us.

We enter into your gates with thanksgiving, into your courts with praise. We are thankful to You, and bless your Holy Name, for You are good in all your ways, and your Truth lasts throughout all generations.

We confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over every aspect of our lives and our nation, and it is in His name we pray. Amen.

Guide them in their duties, and grant them courage and wisdom. Watch over and protect their families. Comfort those who have lost friends and loved ones in the line of duty. Let them know your love and saving grace. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

(Additionally, please feel free to pray by name for any elected officials or law enforcement officers at any level, especially those with jurisdiction over your locality.)

Prayer for the Forgiveness and Repentance of the USA

Save and protect, O Lord, these United States of America, and have mercy on us. By Your goodness and mercy, please forgive all the sins we have committed:

We have turned our backs on you and have sinned.
We have allowed our God-given liberties to be taken away.
We have allowed the epidemic of abortion to fester out of control.
We have allowed prayer to be eliminated from our schools,
and Your Word and commandments to be banned from our public squares.
We have allowed Your place in our nation’s history to be erased from our textbooks,
         and our minds.
We have turned our backs on Your teachings.
We no longer look to You and Your Word for our standards of right and wrong,
replacing those absolute truths with the whim of our own opinions.
We have allowed decadence and depravity of all sorts to become public and commonplace.
Common decency has become a thing of the past.

We confess these and all our sins to You and ask forgiveness for ourselves and our nation. Bring us to a state of true repentance – a returning to You – as both individuals and as a nation. We confess Your lordship over every aspect of our lives and our nation. Help us to follow You once again. Deliver us from all temptations and attacks of the evil one. Restore your mercy and blessings to these United States of America, and re-establish a hedge of protection around us. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

This Week’s Special Prayer: Do you know someone (a family member, friend, neighbor, co-worker, etc.) who does not know God? Pray to God for their salvation – that God opens up their heart to a relationship with Him. In doing so, we are not so much asking God to save them, for God already offers His forgiveness and saving grace to all, but rather that He soften and incline their heart towards accepting the gift He freely offers.

With this being Christmas week, I wanted to do a little something different. Presented here is a Christmas Prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson.

    Luke 2: 8-20 (NKJV)

Now when they had seen Him, they made widely[d] known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

My prayer for you and your family is that you all have a wonderful, safe, and merry Christmas. –Tim

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

This Week’s Patriots’ Prayer (inspired by Psalm 100)

Heavenly Father, we come into your presences with joy and singing, offering You all our praise and worship.

We thanks You for the rights You have given to us, which no government, no court, and no man has the authority to take away from us.

Thank You for our Freedom of Religion – the right to worship You and to live our lives according to Your will without interference from worldly authorities. Help us to hold form against those that would curtail or take away our Freedom of Religion.*

Thank You for our Freedom of Speech – the right to express our thoughts and opinions without fear. Help us to resist calls to limit free speech, whether though laws or through political correctness.

Protect our private property rights from those that want to restrict them based on their own whims and opinions.

Thank You for these and all our rights and freedoms you have given to us, and that our forefathers had the wisdom to enshrine in our nation’s founding documents. Help us to hold on to those precious freedoms.

Amen.

    This Week’s Patriots’ Prayer

O Heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, who are in all places and fill all things; the treasury of blessings and giver of life: Come and abide in us, cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O Gracious Lord.

Father, once again we have been reminded of the hate and violence that rules our world. Islamic terrorists committed mass murder again, this time in an American city – San Bernardino, California. Lord, remember those who died, who were murdered in the attack. Have mercy and bring comfort to their family and friends. Likewise, bring mercy and healing to those injured by the terrorists. Have mercy on the entire community of San Bernardino, and help the community cope with, and heal from, the tragedy.

Lord Jesus, in Your great mercy You prayed for the forgiveness of those who crucified You, and You taught us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us. Lord, after Your example, I pray that You forgive those who aided in any way the terrorist attack. Forgive those who plot future evil deeds in the name of their false religion. Save them from their false religion and the clutches of the Evil One. Show them the evil of their religion, and bring them to a true knowledge of You, to a point of true repentance for their sins, and to salvation in You.

Have mercy upon the United States of America, O God, according to Your lovingkindness and tender mercies. Blot out our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity, and cleanse us from our sins, for we have sinned against You.

We have allowed our God-given liberties to be taken away by our politicians and leaders. We have allowed Your Word and commandments to be banned from our public squares. We have allowed prayer to be eliminated from our schools. We have allowed Your place in our nation’s history to be erased from our textbooks and our minds. We have allowed the epidemic of abortion to fester out of control. We have allowed perversion, decadence, and depravity of all sorts to become public and commonplace. We have replaced Your Word with the whim of our own opinions for our standards of right and wrong. We no longer keep Your commandments or follow Your teachings.

We admit our many sins, repent, and ask forgiveness for ourselves and our nation. Bring us to a state of true repentance – a returning to You – as both individuals and as a nation.

We confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over every aspect of our lives and our nation, and it is in His name we pray. Amen.

Have mercy upon the United States of America, O God,
    According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
    Blot out our transgressions.
Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity,

And our sin is always before us.

And done evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
    And blameless when You judge.

    This Week’s Patriots’ Prayer

Heavenly Father, save and protect these United States of America and have mercy on us. Grant us Your forgiveness, and treat us not as we deserve, but according to your loving-kindness. As a nation, we have turned our backs on you and have sinned. As a nation, as a people, we no longer look to You and Your Word for our standards of right and wrong, replacing those absolute truths with the whim of our own opinions. Yet, our wisdom is but folly if it isn’t rooted in You. Worldly wisdom is no more than whim and opinion, ever-changing with the trends and fashions of the times. Forgive us for our folly, and help us to repent and turn back to You and Your Word as our standard of Truth.

Help us, O Lord, to seek Your wisdom, and to keep Your commandments. Help us to no longer compromise with the world, but to stand firm on Your absolute truths. Help us to truly make the prayer of the psalmist* our prayer:

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways. You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, when I look into all Your commandments. I will praise You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments. I will keep Your statutes. Oh, do not forsake me utterly! Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.”

“You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word.”

In the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

*The third paragraph is from Psalm 119: 1-7. The fourth paragraph is from Psalm 119: 98-101. At some point this week, you may want to take some time to read Psalm 119 in its entirety (it is the longest chapter in the Bible!).

This Week’s Prayer (in response to the terrorist attacks in France)

Heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, who are in all places and fill all things; the treasury of blessings and giver of life: Come and abide in us, cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O Gracious Lord.

Father, You are our rock and our fortress. You are our deliverer, our strength, and our courage. In You we find refuge and comfort. We are in desperate need of that refuge, that comfort. Only a few days ago, the world was violently reminded that the dangers of Evil are very real, as pawns of the Evil One, carrying out the dictates of their false religion, created terror and chaos, bringing death and pain, in Paris, France. Hundreds of ordinary people, simply going about their everyday their lives, were brutally killed and injured by Muslims carrying out what they consider their religious duty. Families were ripped apart. Lives snuffed out. Many, many survivors will have to deal with their injuries, and their memories, for the rest of their lives. Many, many people will be dealing with the grief of loss of fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and friends.

Lord, remember those who dies, whowere murdered in those attacks, who have departed from this life. May that they have the hope of the resurrection. May that they found forgiveness of sins, eternal rest, the gift of Your kingdom, and the enjoyment of unending life with You.

Father of mercies and God of all comfort, come to the help of those who survived, who live on with the aftermath. Bring healing and mercy to those in need. Bring comfort and courage to those who lost loved ones. Take away fear, anxiety, and distress.  Lord, we knw that all trials of life are under Your care and that all things eventually work for the good of those who love You. Help the peole of Paris, and all those affected by this Evil, to face and endure all with faith, courage, and wisdom. Grant that this trial may bring people closer to You, for You are our rock and refuge, our comfort and hope, our delight and joy. Help us to trust in Your love and compassion.

Lord Jesus, in Your great mercy You prayed for the forgiveness of those who crucified You, and You taught us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us. Lord, I pray that You forgive those who committed these evil deeds, or in any way aided those who carried them out. Forgive those who plot future evil deeds in the name of their false religion. Bless them and guide them according to Your will, and most importantly save them from their false religion and the clutches of the Evil One. Show them the evil of their religion, and bring them to a true knowledge of You, to a point of true repentance for their sins, and to salvation in You. Lord, may Your forgiveness, goodness and love be revealed in all of us, to Your praise and glory.

Blessed is Your name, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages.

It is in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that we pray. Amen.

    Special Prayer Request

Please pray for God’s mercy and healing on the five Americans being held hostage in Iran. Pray for them to have the courage and strength they need to survive their ordeal. Pray that their captivity quickly come to an end, and that they return safely home very soon. Pray also for God to provide comfort and mercy to their families and friends.

    • Saeed Abedini – the 35 year-old pastor, husband, and father of two, has been held prisoner in Iran since the summer of 2012. Abedini was visiting relatives and helping to establish an orphanage when he was arrested. His captors have recently subjected him to new harsh interrogations, including using a stun gun on him, and are threatening him with new charges and an even longer sentence. NOTE: Please also pray for his wife, Naghmeh Abedini, who is dealing with tremendous emotional stress and difficult family issues.
    • Jason Rezaian – a 39 year-old journalist working for the The Washington Post as their bureau chief in Tehran, Iran was arrested on charges of espionage and propaganda on July 22, 2014.
    • Amir Hekmati – the 32 year-old former US Marine was visiting his grandmother and other relatives in Iran when he was arrested in 2011.
    • Robert Levinson – now 67, went missing while in Iran in 2007. In 2010, his family received proof that he was still alive and being held prisoner. According to the AP, there is reason to believe that Levinson, a former FBI and DEA agent, was working undercover for the CIA at the time of his disappearance.

    Why Patriots’ Prayers?

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” –2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

The core idea of Patriots’ Prayers is to get Americans praying together, seeking forgiveness for our nation and turning back to God (repentance). Please pray these prayers throughout the week, and have others join you in praying.

    This Week’s Prayer (based on 2 Samuel 22: 2-4)

Father in Heaven, You are our rock and our fortress. You are our deliverer, our God, in whom we find refuge, our shield, and the horn of our salvation, our stronghold and our refuge, our savior; You save us from violence. We call upon You, our LORD, who are worthy to be praised, and are saved from our enemies, and from the schemes of the Evil One.

Forgive us for our wrongs, save us, have mercy on us, and bless us. Treat us not as we deserve, but according to Your loving kindness and tender mercy. We confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over every aspect of our lives, health, hearts, minds, bodies, souls and spirits, and we we confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our nation.

It is in the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that we pray. Amen.

Pray that their captivity quickly come to an end, and that they return safely home very soon. Pray also for God to provide comfort and mercy to their families and friends.

Siamak Namazi – an Iranian-American businessman arrested in late October while visiting relatives in Tehran. Details of his arrest are sketchy, and any charges have not been made public. However, it appears he was arrested by the intelligence division of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and apparently is being held in Evin prison.
Saeed Abedini – the 35 year-old pastor, husband, and father of two, has been held prisoner in Iran since the summer of 2012. Abedini was visiting relatives and helping to establish an orphanage when he was arrested. His captors have recently subjected him to new harsh interrogations, including using a stun gun on him, and are threatening him with new charges and an even longer sentence.
Jason Rezaian – a 39 year-old journalist working for the The Washington Post as their bureau chief in Tehran, Iran was arrested on charges of espionage and propaganda on July 22, 2014.
Amir Hekmati – the 32 year-old former US Marine was visiting his grandmother and other relatives in Iran when he was arrested in 2011.
Robert Levinson – now 67, went missing while in Iran in 2007.

This week, please especially note the prayer request at the bottom of this list, as a fifth American has now been arrested and is being held by Iran.

    Pray for America

    For Forgiveness and Repentance

Amen.

    For the Church in America

Remember, O Lord, Your Church, which You purchased with Your precious blood – protect it, strengthen it, and multiply it. Keep Your Church in peace, and bring to naught all plots and threats against Your Church. Have mercy, O Lord, upon the whole clergy of Your Church, and grant them the courage, wisdom, and strength needed to boldly preach and do Your Will during these perilous times.  (Please pray by name for your church, your pastor or priest, and fellow church members.)

    The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread;
    and forgive us our trespasses
    as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.

    Additional Prayers
    • Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon the old, the young, the unborn, the needy and poor, the orphans and widows, the sick, the disabled, the oppressed and the imprisoned. Especially have mercy on those suffering for Your sake.
    • Grant, O Lord, blessings and mercies to all current and former members of our armed forces. Save them, protect them, and keep them safe.
    • Bless, O Lord, and have mercy on those who serve as police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and other first responders.
    • Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon the State of Israel. Shield it with Your love, protect it, and let it know peace. Send Your light and wisdom to its leaders, and direct them with Your good counsel.

I believe our country is under demonic influence. The Halls of Power and Influence – government, business, the news media, academia, and popular culture – have not only turned from God’s ways, but are often mocking and even working in direct opposition to His Will. Our leaders and centers of influence no longer look to God for their standards of right and wrong, replacing God’s absolute truths with the whim of their own opinions. I believe the Evil One and his cohorts are very active in America today, which is why I’m doing something a little different in Patriots’ Prayers this week.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” –1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NKJV)

    5) Prayer Points for This Week

Please pray, using your own words, for the following people and circumstances. If you are unsure of what to pray, just start talking to God, asking for His mercy on people, and His Will be accomplished in all circumstances.

    • The victims of recent violence in Oregon, and throughout America. Remember, also, their family and friends.
    • The victims of the recent storms and flooding in the Carolinas.
    • The four Americans still being held in Iran – Jason Rezaian, Robert Levinson, Amir Hekmati, and Saeed Abedini.
    • Pray for your family: pray for not just the individuals, but pray for the family as a unit – that you grow closer to each other and to God.
    • Pray for someone you would not normally be motivated to pray for – a bothersome neighbor, irritating relative, or that jerk form work… Most of us know at least one person we don’t like or get along with. Pray for that person.

Four Americans Still Being Held By Iran

Click here to view the original post.

Iran is currently holding four Americans against their will – Jason Rezaian, Robert Levinson, Amir Hekmati, and Saeed Abedini. Both the mainstream media and the Obama administration are largely ignoring their plight. The Obama administration refused to even make it an issue with the Iranians during negotiations over the recent nuclear deal.

Pray for these Americans, and for their families and friends. Pray for God’s mercy and healing upon the captives, and that God grant them the courage and strength to endure their ordeal. Pray for God’s mercy and comfort for their loved ones. Pray that President Barack Obama and Sectary of State John Kerry be motivated to make seeking their release a priority.

Keep the pressure on the American Government to seek the release of these American citizens. Contact your Senators and Representative (find them here), the White House (contact information here), and the State Department (Main Switchboard: 202-647-4000).

Stay informed. This page will be updated as new information becomes available.

    Jason Rezaian

Jason Rezaian is a 39 year-old American journalist working for the The Washington Post as their bureau chief in Tehran, Iran. He was arrested on vague charges of espionage and propaganda on July 22, 2014. Details of the charges have not been provided by Iran, nor has the any evidence against Rezaian been made public. Both Rezaian’s family and the Washington Post have vehemently denied that he is anything other than just a journalist.

UPDATE (10/12/2015): It has been announced that Rezaian has been found guilty in Iranian court, although what charges he was found guilty of still have not been released, nor has sentence been announced. The trial was held behind closed doors. Rezaian’s family has not been allowed to visit him.

    Robert Levinson

Robert Levinson, now 67, went missing while in Iran in 2007. Very little information has been provided by Iran in the last eight years on Levinson’s captivity. In 2010, his family did receive video proof that he was still alive and being held prisoner. In 2011, his family was provided photos of him in an orange prison jump suit. In both the video and photos, it is apparent that Levinson, who has health problems, has lost considerable weight. According to the AP, there may be reason to believe that Levinson, a former FBI and DEA agent, was working for the CIA at the time of his disappearance.

    Amir Hekmati

Amir Hekmati is a 32 year-old former US Marine who has been held in Iran since 2011.  He was visiting his grandmother and other relatives in Iran when he was arrested in August 2011, allegedly for spying. Hekmati was found guilty of being “Corrupt on Earth (Mofsed-e-filarz) and Mohareb (enemy of God)” in January of 2012. He was sentenced to death. His death sentence was overturned in March of 2012 by Iran’s Supreme Court, which ordered a retrial. Hekmati is still being held prisoner, still awaiting retrial.

    Saeed Abedini

Saeed Abedini is a 35 year-old pastor, husband, and father of two, who  has been held prisoner in Iran since the summer of 2012. Abedini was visiting relatives and helping to establish an orphanage when he was arrested for undermining Iranian national security by participating in private religious gatherings in Christian homes. In January 2013, He was found guilty and sentenced to eight years in prision.

Abedini is a former Muslim who converted to Christianity in 2000. He has been subjected to harsh treatment by the Iranians since his arrest in 2012. His physical health and mental state has reportedly deteriorated during his captivity.

UPDATE (10/2/215): Pastor Saeed’s wife, Naghmeh, reports that Saeed’s Iranian captors have subjected him to new harsh interrogations, including using a stun gun on him, and are threatening him with new charges and an even longer sentence.
