The annual celebration of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, is one of the most important events on the Muslim calendar.
Sadly, it is also one of the most important times for radicalized Islamic terrorists as well. There is always an increase in terrorist activity, because according to Muslim beliefs, there is an increased reward for those who are martyred or who die in a jihad.
Would you survive if caught in the middle?
In 2016, the total casualty count, both dead an injured, during Ramadan was 1,150, a horrifying number. But that number is nothing, compared to what the final casualty count will be for 2017. During the first half of the month, Islamic extremists accounted for 1,003 fatalities and 1,036 injuries.
Of course, the mainstream American media doesn’t bother covering this, as it sheds a poor light on the supposed “religion of peace.”
But the fact is real, regardless of any media cover-up. That is made easier by the fact that not one of the 73 attacks happened on US soil and only three happened in Europe, one in London, one in Paris, and the other in Germany.
The vast majority of these attacks happened in Muslim controlled countries or countries with a strong Muslim population. As President Trump noted in his speech in Saudi Arabia, Muslims themselves are the biggest victim of Muslim terrorism, all the more reason for them to join the fight against extremism and terrorism. It is in their own best interest to curtail terrorism.
It is clear that Muslim terrorism is on the upswing. While the majority is still limited to the Muslim controlled countries themselves, Europe has seen an increase in both terrorism and general violence propagated by supposed Syrian “refugees.”
We too have seen a rise in Muslim violence here in the USA, although the statistics don’t back that up. During Obama’s presidency the FBI wasn’t allowed to record and report acts of Muslim terrorism as what they were.
So in many cases, killers yelling “Allah akbar” were recorded in the statistics as “workplace violence.” The mainstream media even tried to pin such events as the Orlando and San Bernardino shootings, which were clearly acts of terrorism, on conservatives.
Perhaps this is something that the new FBI director can get straightened out. It would be nice to see some accurate figures about terrorism in the United States, rather than allowing the liberals to have their talking point of there being a greater chance of being killed by a white supremist here in the USA, than being killed by a Muslim terrorist.
But even without those records being corrected, we all know that Muslim terrorism is on the rise. Therefore, it merely makes sense, from a survival point of view, to be ready to react to it, when it rears its ugly head. You and I may never find ourselves in the midst of a terrorist attack, but that’s no longer something that we can count on.
With that being the case, it is merely prudent to be ready for the eventuality of a terrorist attack taking place somewhere where we are. Attacks like the San Bernardino and Orlando shootings have shown us that the terrorists are no longer limiting themselves to big cities. Those were both cities of around a quarter million people, yet became sites of a couple of the most horrendous acts of terrorism in our country’s history.
So what should we do to help ensure that we don’t personally end up as nothing more than a terrorism statistic? There are a few important steps that we should take.
The most important single thing that any of us can do to avoid becoming a victim, not only of terrorism, but of crime, is to increase our awareness.
Few acts of terrorism happen without some preparation and the terrorists having to make an entrance on the scene. While the amount of time between their first appearing and the time they start trying to kill people may be short, there will be some time. That’s time in which you can detect them and begin to prepare your own defense.
Most people walk around totally unaware of what’s going on around them. If their face isn’t buried in their smartphone, it might as well be. They could walk right past someone they know, without even seeing them; let alone stopping to say hi.
We need to develop situational awareness, which really means nothing more than being aware of the situation we are in. We should be constantly looking around, with the intent of identifying possible threats. Once identified, we should watch those threats, to make sure that they don’t do anything untoward.
To start with, identify what is the norm in whatever location you find yourself in. What are the people like? How do they dress? How do they act? What noises are part of the background? How is traffic moving? What stands out? What’s hidden in the shadows? Where are likely avenues of arrival and departure? All this, and a whole lot more makes up the background atmosphere, wherever you are.
Knowing what the norm is, allows you to spot things that don’t look normal. The person wearing a winter coat, when everyone else is in shirtsleeves. The delivery van that is parked in the wrong place. A deliveryman carrying a flower box down the street, without a delivery van in sight. Someone moving against the flow of traffic. Workers in uniform who aren’t working on anything.
Anything out of the ordinary can indicate danger. It may not, but it definitely deserves further study and even investigation. Don’t assume that it’s safe, unless you have some empirical evidence to back that up. Assume that there is a risk out there and try to spot it.
Avoid Target Areas
Even though terrorists aren’t limiting themselves to large cities, they still want to make a splash when they go loud. They aren’t going to try and so something in the shadows, but rather in the spotlight. They want to hit as many targets as they can and they want as many witnesses to the act as they can get.
Therefore, they are going to do their acts of terrorism in places where there is a crowd to use as both victims and an audience. They’re also going to try and pick a target that’s going to arouse the ire of their target population.
We can see this in the Orlando, Florida shooting, where the killer picked a gay nightclub for their attack. In doing so, they ensured national attention and a little extra outcry from both the gay population and liberals in general.
Granted, it’s more or less impossible to live our lives, while always avoiding potential target areas. We all need to go shopping, to church, to entertainment and sporting events, and take our kids to school.
But we should recognize those areas as what they are, potential targets. Therefore, we can’t let our guard down when we are there, but rather need to be more aware and more ready to respond to a potential attack.
If you don’t have a concealed carry license, you should get one. While some terrorists use knives and trucks, most today are using guns. Defending yourself against a gun, or even against a knife, without your own gun to use, is risky at best.
Most states now have a Shall Issue policy towards concealed carry licenses, and more and more states are moving towards Constitutional Carry. So, chances are, you can get a license to carry in the state where you live.
You’ll probably need to attend a class, will need to undergo a background check and there will be fee to pay. But once you do, you will have the legal right to carry the necessary tool to defend yourself.
That doesn’t mean you’ll have the right to brandish a gun in people’s faces when road rage kicks in or that you have any more of a right to shoot a bad guy than anyone else does. But then, it’s a principle of American law that you can kill in self-defense. If shooting a terrorist who is actively engaged in an act of terrorism isn’t self-defense, I don’t know what is.
But let me add a couple of notes of caution here. First of all, you will probably be outgunned, even if you are carrying a gun. Chances are, terrorists are going to use a rifle, not a pistol. That means they will have more range, more accuracy and more rounds to shoot. Those rounds will do more damage as well, passing through walls, the body of your car and even Kevlar body armor.
So you don’t want to do a John Wayne and just stand up and expect to hit them in the eye with your first shot. Learn to shoot from cover and to identify what will make good cover. Choose a handgun which will give you a reasonable chance of success; and carry extra magazines.
I personally carry a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, with two spare magazines. That’s a fair amount of extra weight and bulk to carry on my body, every day of my life. But as far as I’m concerned, it’s merely a minimum amount of firepower. Should I actually get into a firefight with a terrorist or two, that’s not going to be enough.
Another thing you might want to consider is carrying more firepower in your car, in addition to what you are carrying on your person. I haven’t done so yet, but I’ve considered keeping an AR-15 in the trunk of my car.
The area in which I live is a known transit point for terrorists entering the country, so I feel the risk of terrorism is fairly high. Granted, most will want to move farther into the country before doing anything, but if they feel a threat, they could let go right here in my area. In that case, having that AR-15 in my car might make the difference, assuming I could get to it.
Owning a gun or even carrying a gun isn’t enough. You’ve got to work on becoming competent with it.
Most shooters who don’t shoot very often can only hold their shots to a 6 inch group or larger. What that means is that when they are caught in an active shooter situation the adrenaline coursing through their veins is going to turn that 6 inch group into about a 30 inch group.
In other words, chances are more likely they will miss their target, rather than hit it.
This happens to everyone, no matter how good you can shoot. The difference is, if you can shoot a 4 inch group, it will turn into a 20 inch one. If you can shoot a 2 inch group, it will turn into a 10 inch one. If you can shoot a 1 inch group, it will turn into a 5 inch one. The better you are when shooting at a target, the better you’ll be able to be shooting for real.
But just shooting at a fixed target isn’t enough. You also need to get involved in some tactical training. That means shooting in a tactical (real life) situation.
Most shooting ranges offer some tactical shooting events, allowing you the opportunity to try them out and get some more realistic training.
The main difference between these tactical shooting events and normal shooting is that you would be shooting at silhouette targets, set up to be a life-like scenario. There will be several targets, at different ranges and different angles. Some might be partially hidden or moving.
You might also be required to move or to shoot from behind an obstacle. Finally, you will shooting against the clock, with only one shooter at a time. That clock does a pretty good job of imitating the stress of a real situation.
Have an Escape Planned
Regardless of who you are or where you are when a terrorist goes loud, your first priority is to save your own life. Your second is to protect your family. Shooting may be a part of that, but running might be as well.
Discretion is still the better part of valor, so knowing when it’s time to fight and when it’s time to run is important. Don’t put your family at risk, trying to be a hero.
Everywhere you go, look around to see the available avenues of escape. If possible, check doors to make sure that they are unlocked. Plan out how you will get yourself and your family out, if you are forced to do so.
Having a plan for how you will escape, when everyone else is running around like a chicken with their head cut off, may just be what you need to have, in order to be counted amongst the survivors.
I make it a habit of quickly thinking through a plan of action, everywhere I go. That way, if someone comes in shooting, either a terrorist or a criminal, I have something to fall back on. Is that paranoid? No, it’s prudent. I don’t dwell on the possibility, I just create a plan A and a plan B. Plan A is to shoot and plan B is to flee.
A major part of plan A is to select a good place to shoot from, so that I can hit the bad guys, without hitting any innocent bystanders. Some places, especially crowded ones, make it difficult to shoot safely. There was a man with a concealed carry license in the mass shooting at the Batman Premiere. He never drew his gun, because of the crowd and the confusion. He recognized that his chances of hitting the shooter, without hitting anyone else, were minimal.
A major part of plan B is always using my gun to protect myself and my family, as we flee. Just because I’m running doesn’t mean I’m leaving my gun in the holster. I may start my escape plan, but not be able to make it all the way. Perhaps the shooter has someone stationed outside that door. I need to be ready.
Following these five steps will not guarantee that you’ll get out of a terrorist situation. A lot will depend on what the terrorists do and how you respond to it. Your training will be a factor as will the actions of the other people who are there.
But it will do one thing. That’s to increase your chances of survival, by giving you a chance to fight back. Regardless of how good a chance that is, it’s one worth taking.
Because the alternative, if you can’t fight back, is to be nothing more than a lamb led to the slaughter.

Why have so many recent ISIS attacks involved automobiles? Vehicle jihad gained notoriety when a moon god-worshiping coward terrorist killed over 80 civilians in Nice, France during Bastille Day celebrations. It happened again, this time in London during a busy Saturday night. So why is this form of terrorism becoming more popular? To help explain […]
They say evil never rests and as we’ve discovered here in the U.S., evil at the hands of terrorists has become more common. We’ve been told by our “betters” that this is the “new normal”, and that we must accept it. So, if our leaders are willing to foist this “new normal” on us, then it behooves us each to learn as much as we can about the tactics of terrorists and how to respond in a way that could save lives. Terror attack survival is no longer reserved for citizens of hot spots like Israel.
A terror attack can take many different forms, and that’s the main reason preparing is difficult. After all, with the randomness, say a lone individual stabbing a complete stranger waiting in line at a Burger King, what do you do, other than wearing a stab vest everywhere? Recent attacks on pedestrians using a truck makes me wary of attending public events.
However, it’s completely possible that future terror attacks will be of an even more lethal variety, with far-reaching consequences and fatalities.
In the case of a CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear or Explosive device) event, preparing for and responding to these is a challenge, since it depends on the type and size of weapon or device used, weather conditions, and the target (high-rise, mall, school, sporting event, city, etc) among other things. However, there are a few key things you can do that could potentially save your life.
- Watch & listen — Sounds simple and it is. Start making a habit of being aware of your surroundings. You don’t have to be paranoid or obvious ~ just make a mental note of the EXITS when you go to places. Also watch for suspicious activities and anything that is out of place, like someone wearing a heavy coat on a hot day or unattended bags and packages. Situational awareness can be both taught and learned. Begin using the strategies in this article in order to develop this skill.
- Learn where to go — Find out in advance where you could shelter-in-place at the common places you go (e.g. home, office, school, mall, etc). Most city and county web sites list emergency shelters online or it’s available upon request, then use Mapquest or Google maps to locate ones closest to you. Ask your employer, schools, and other facility officials what their evacuation and sheltering plans are. Then choose a room in your home or building where you could hunker down with supplies and a radio for several hours or days if needed. If you are normally out and about a good deal of the day, then think about the homes of friends, relatives, acquaintances and buildings like churches and any organizations you have a connection with. Call these your “safe houses”. Mark them on maps for your loved ones, memorize addresses and directions, and take shelter there when/if you need to. For more details about safe houses, read this.
- Get KI, KFM kits and dosimeters. — These are VERY worthy investments in the event of a nuclear incident.
- KI (potassium iodide) basically fills up the thyroid with good iodine so your body doesn’t absorb the radioactive iodine. Children (including unborn babies) are most susceptible since their thyroids are so active. KI can be purchased inexpensively from Amazon. From the CDC, here are the correct and most currently recommended dosages:
- Newborns from birth to 1 month of age should be given 16 mg (¼ of a 65 mg tablet or ¼ mL of solution). This dose is for both nursing and non-nursing newborn infants.
- Infants and children between 1 month and 3 years of age should take 32 mg (½ of a 65 mg tablet OR ½ mL of solution). This dose is for both nursing and non-nursing infants and children.
- Children between 3 and 18 years of age should take 65 mg (one 65 mg tablet OR 1 mL of solution). Children who are adult size (greater than or equal to 150 pounds) should take the full adult dose, regardless of their age.
- Adults should take 130 mg (one 130 mg tablet OR two 65 mg tablets OR two mL of solution).
- Women who are breastfeeding should take the adult dose of 130 mg.
- KFM kits (Kearny Fallout Meter) measure radiation more accurately than most instruments since they’re charged electrostatically. Free plans are available online or can be purchased as a kit ($45-$75).
- Dosimeters are pen-like devices you can wear that measure the total dose or accumulated exposure to radiation as you move around ($45-$65 – needs a charger, too). You cannot see, feel, taste or smell radiation so detection devices are extremely important.
- Expedient shelter — Nuclear fallout is deadly and you may only have a few moments to protect yourself since it starts falling minutes after a blast so learn how to make an “expedient shelter”. Taking shelter underground with shielding is best since it reduces exposure by 90%, but if you don’t have that option:
- Find a spot away from windows in the center of home or building. Note: if the rooftop of a building next to you is on that same floor, move one floor up or down since radioactive fallout would accumulate on rooftops. Avoid the first floor (if possible) since fallout will pile up on the ground outside.
- Set up a large, sturdy workbench or table in location you’ve chosen. If no table, make one by putting doors on top of boxes, appliances or furniture.
- Put as much shielding (e.g. furniture, file cabinets, appliances, boxes or pillowcases filled with dirt or sand, boxes of food, water or books, concrete blocks, bricks, etc.) all around sides and on top of table, but don’t put too much weight on tabletop or it could collapse. Add reinforcing supports, if needed.
- Leave a crawl space so everyone can get inside and block opening with shielding materials.
- Leave 2 small air spaces for ventilation (about 4-6″ each) – one low at one end and one high at other end. (This allows for better airflow since warm air rises.)
- Have water, detection devices, radio, food and sanitation supplies in case you have to shelter for days or weeks.
After 7 hours, radiation levels drop tenfold, and if you stay put at least 2 days you’ve greatly improved your chances for survival. After 2 weeks, radiation levels will be very low. Time, distance, and shielding are critical components of surviving any type of nuclear attack or accident. (Note: Radiological incidents using an RDD or dirty bomb would not be as devastating or deadly since they use low-level radiation. The blast would probably cause more injuries and panic then the radiation.)
- If you’re trapped — If you get trapped or buried in rubble from an explosive device (or natural disaster for that matter), try not to panic. Cover your mouth with a piece of clothing to help filter the dust. Do NOT use a cigarette lighter for any reason since there could be gas leaks! Tap on a pipe or wall so rescuers can hear you. (Yelling may cause you to inhale a lot of dust.)
- Avoid crowds — During or after an incident stay away from large gatherings or crowds since they may be targets for subsequent attacks of one sort or another.
Again, this just barely scratches the surface on this topic, but doing some of these things could potentially help with your survival. We all should learn what to do during many types of disasters and emergencies and share the data with family members, especially our kids and grandkids. Knowledge is power. You may never need any of these steps or items listed here, but it never hurts to prepare for the unexpected.

A new paper published through the University of St. Andrews, Dehumanisation in Religious and Sectarian Violence: the Case of Islamic State, explores the uniquely horrific practices of the Islamic State. The author, Dr. Gilbert Ramsay, explores how the Islamic State does not dehumanize their victims in traditional ways. In fact, the Islamic State will often attribute a great deal of humanity to those massacred. This can be seen most explicitly in the videos IS publishes. In one instance, Dr. Ramsay notes IS employs editing in their execution videos that offer: “a window into the thoughts of the penitent victim prior to death”. Through their publications, IS seeks to create an intimate bond between the viewer and the victim. The religious content of the Islamic State ideology is so potent, the dehumanization of massacred individuals is sometimes unnecessary. According to IS, Infidels and Shiites must be killed or submit to their ideology. As evidenced by the callous nature of their videos, this is done unapologetically.
By D-Ray, a contributing author to SHTFBlog & Survival Cache
To be sure, Ramsay also notes the Islamic State will, from time to time, use dehumanizing methods. However, compared to other genocidal organizations, IS does not employ dehumanization nearly as frequently. Notably, the Nazis found found ways to dehumanize and shield themselves from profoundly depraved actions. The implications of the Islamic State’s ideological nature presents a terrifying possibility: we are dealing with an entity that does not find genocidal activities to be morally unconscionable.

The Islamic State represents a truly unique and horrible evil. Although they are materially weak, the ideological power of IS is potent. It has been often said that you can kill a man but you can not kill an idea. While I agree with the sentiment of this maxim, the West must begin to attack and kill the ideology upon which the Islamic State is premised. If this new study is any indication, combatting the Islamic State’s cancerous belief system will be incredibly difficult.

Trump’s politics resonate with those who want to live our American dream. He is selling a promise to ‘make America great again’. Conversely, many feel like they might pack up and move to another country.
One voter, Tim Kennedy, claims America will be a dying country if people don’t change their ways. He says off-grid living may be the secret to freedom and a sustainable way of life, that it is the way that we as humans are supposed to live.
This is just one man’s view, a staunchly patriotic view at that. It may not be for everyone, as it takes a lot to adapt to, and not everyone has an opportunity to do so. However, there is truth in that we are paying a higher cost in our own personal happiness and wellbeing by subscribing to the confines and regimented expectations of society.
Many of those who have been living off grid for some time, now preparing for life under Trump out of fear and trepidation, are surprised others see it as the ultimate act of patriotism and are preparing for it out of sheer anticipation.
Some simply believe that our society is, and has been in a downward spiral since the 2008 global financial crisis, and prefer to live off-grid to escape global threats to modern society such as terrorism, cyber security, and further economic turmoil.
In 2014, an estimated 1 million people live off grid in America, a figure that has steadily risen in the past few decades. Across the UK, there are already thousands of people who have embraced the off-grid movement. There is a certain appeal to this way of life, to be self sufficient and liberated from the chains of a capitalist consumer society, by embracing this low cost, eco-friendly way of life.
Generally speaking, much of Trump’s support comes from disenfranchised elements who feel nobody was speaking for them.
Does Trump’s America mean that people will embrace this way of living? Certain states ban homes smaller than a few hundred square feet, and some cities welcome these so-called ‘tiny homes’. Trump has spoken about the costliness of renewable solar and wind power; however there is evidence to show that renewable energy in the US is cheaper than it has ever been.
For off-gridders preparing for life under Trump, some don’t see his rule as so much of a threat. Rather, they believe that he may not be able to accomplish what he says that he is set out to do, and are simply fed up of politicians and politics in America. It may be this very reason why more people turn to off-grid living.

NEW YORK — Bombings in New York City and New Jersey, along with a stabbing in Minnesota, might be the start of a new radical Islamic offensive on US soil.
The reign of terror began in Seaside Park, New Jersey, on Saturday morning with a bomb explosion in a garbage can at a charity race. Investigators said there were other bombs in the trash can that did not go off as planned. Thankfully, nobody was injured.
Club goers on West 23rd Street in Manhattan were not so fortunate, as 29 of them were injured when a bomb exploded around 8:30 p.m. that night. Police later found a second device that did not explode
An hour later, a knife-wielding man attacked nine people at the Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota. All of those attacked were injured, and the attack only ended when an off-duty cop shot and killed the attacker.
On Sunday night, bombs were found in a garbage can by homeless men outside an Elizabeth, New Jersey, trash can. They did not harm anyone, although one detonated when a robot was trying to dismantle it.
Here are four things you should know about these incidents.
1. Authorities regard them as terrorism. “We are currently investigating this as a potential act of terrorism,” Richard Thornton, the top FBI agent in Minnesota, told the media. President Obama confirmed that the FBI was investigating the St. Cloud attack as terrorism. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday said of that region’s incident: “We have every reason to believe this was an act of terror.”
2. Both attackers were radical Muslims. The suspect in the New York and New Jersey attacks, Ahmad Khan Rahami, was captured Monday following a shootout with police. He was born in Afghanistan and is a naturalized U.S. citizen. The New York Times reported that Ramani was carrying a backpack full of pipe bombs when he was caught. The knife attacker was named by Minnesota media as Dahir A. Adan, whose family is Somali. He has lived in the US for about 15 years and reportedly asked victims if they were Muslim – supposedly to ensure he did not kill anyone of that religion. He also reportedly was wearing a security guard uniform. ISIS media called him a “soldier of the Islamic State.”
3. It is unclear if the Minnesota attack was related to the other ones. “At this point, we see no connection between that incident and what happened in New York and New Jersey,” President Obama told the press. ISIS has a strategy of encouraging “lone wolf” attacks in which sympathizers carry out random acts of violence.
4. The 71st General Assembly of the United Nations will be held this week in NYC. President Obama will be among those in attendance. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered 1,000 state police officers and National Guardsmen into the city to bolster the NYPD.
“Now for all New Yorkers, a central message we want to give today is be vigilant,” de Blasio said. “Be vigilant because the police need your help, and if you see anything that might be pertinent to this case, we need you to call it in.”

Whenever a disaster strikes, most governments hide behind a veil of fortitude and authority. They make it clear to the population that everything is under control, and order will soon be restored by their efforts. Governments always do everything in their power to convince the population that they’re still in charge regardless of the facts. Which of course makes sense. After all, if everyone knew that the government couldn’t maintain order during a catastrophic event, then they’d want a new government.
As preppers know very well however, it’s often the case that governments aren’t in control of anything during a disaster. Their ineptitude and gross negligence doesn’t go away just because there’s blood in the streets. They don’t rise to the occasion. If anything, quite the opposite happens. The government’s inefficiency and bureaucratic nonsense usually hampers relief efforts, despite the best efforts of most low ranking first responders of course.
What most people don’t realize however, is that average citizens aren’t the only ones to be affected by the poor decisions made by their government. Even the highest levels of our government can quickly lose control of a situation when the SHTF. Disasters are inherently chaotic, and chaos doesn’t discriminate. No matter how much money, power, and expertise is at your disposal, your best laid plans can fall apart when things get real.
And that’s precisely what happened in the United States on 9/11. Most Americans like to think that our government was on the ball in every conceivable way on that day, and that the feds took swift and appropriate actions to deal with the crisis. However, that’s not entirely true. According to NBC, recently declassified documents have revealed that the tippy top of our government was running around with its head cut off on 9/11. Take a look at some of these revelations:
Three dozen live nuclear weapons were aboard U.S. Air Force bombers at three airbases when al Qaeda struck New York and Washington.
Because of inadequate communications equipment and procedures, top U.S. officials couldn’t talk to each other or to anyone else. Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to speak to Bush to know why the U.S. was preparing to go to DEFCON 3 — but the White House couldn’t put him through to Air Force One. Bush had no way to receive phone calls.
After Bush left Florida, where he had been reading a book to schoolkids, his plane was low on fuel but for hours had nowhere to land.
Most of the top 10 people in the president’s line of succession, including Vice President Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, either refused to follow the protocol and go to their designated secure sites, or were out of the country, or were never contacted.
Now-disgraced Speaker of the House Denny Hastert, third in line, observed protocol and was taken to an underground bunker in the Blue Ridge Mountains. But that left him out of touch with all other top government leaders.
Attorney General John Ashcroft was in a government plane and tried to return to Washington, but was turned away by the FAA.
Education Secretary Rod Paige, 16th in line to the White House, was left on the tarmac in Sarasota, Florida. He rented a car and drove back to Washington.
That second point is especially worrisome. We nearly went to DEFCON 3 and had no way of communicating with the Russians. Can you imagine how freaked out the Kremlin was on that day? Under different circumstances, 9/11 could have snowballed into an accidental nuclear war.
Keep that in mind for the next time our country is faces a major attack. The government and the media will put on a brave face, but behind the scenes it could be very different. Your politicians and bureaucrats could be quietly panicking or running in all directions in the face a rapidly deteriorating situation that they cannot fix.

Why does, China want military bases in the Spratley Islands, and why does North Korea want nuclear missiles with a range of 2000 miles? The answer is an old strategy, that it is far better to have to fight a war in someone else’s country rather than your own. As the Roman Empire created buffer states to keep out the barbarians, so too do the Chinese. They give nuclear technology and a vast amount of military equipment to Pakistan, so it can hold back India, they keep Tibet enslaved and supply vast amounts of military hardware to North Korea, so it can face off to Japan and Taiwan and as they see it the main bogy man the USA. We cannot be amazed that North Korea and Vietnam also want to keep any threat away from their own countries so also have to engage in a military game of chess as to who dominates the chess board. That chessboard is of course the Pacific Ocean, this should concern all Australians who think.
It is due to our spineless leaders, who are from the same mould as the pre World War Two Appeasers like the Prime Ministers Ramsay Macdonald, Stanley Baldwin and Neville Chamberlain, and French foreign Minister Pierre Laval, who all sought to avoid war by feeding smaller countries to Japan, Germany and Italy, to sate the savage beasts. They downplay the internal threat from Islam that demands world domination and they downplay the threats from our northern military dictatorships that also want to dominate our region.
This sounds to me like this shooting was all cut & dried before it even started. The question is, who orchestrated this shooting? Was this another attempt to cause havoc so that further gun control measures could be taken against law abiding gun owner citizens?!

America seems to be crumbling, and more and more experts are comparing 2016 to 1968, which was defined by social unrest and violence.
In fact, many Americans in 2016 believe that things will get much worse before they get better.
Here are four reasons Americans are worried:
1. Social unrest. Micah Johnson shot 12 officers and killed five of them, and some in the country celebrated.
A hate group called the Black Power Political Organization sent out this chilling message after Johnson’s killing spree: “#BlackPower! #BlackKnights! Sniper Assassins Take Down Five Police Officers! And More Will Be Assassinated In The Coming Days!”
Another read: “Do You Like The Work Of Our Assassins? Get Your Own Sniper Rifle And Join Our Thousands Of Sniper Assassins Worldwide In The Fight Against Oppression!”
Incredibly, it was not hard to find people on social media who celebrated the killings of the officers.
Police across the country expect more violence after the Dallas rampage. On July 9, TMZ reported that the following precautions are being taken by the Los Angeles Police Department:
- LAPD officers are carrying extra weapons on patrol.
- Police are now patrolling two to a car.
- Cops are being told to keep their law enforcement status secret when off-duty.
- Officers have been told to carry riot gear and bulletproof vests with them on patrol.
Some officers fear fake 911 calls might be used to lure cops into an ambush.
Former Philadelphia police commissioner Charles Ramsey said on NBC’s Meet the Press June 10 that America is “sitting on a powder keg.”
Ramsey fears that there will be violence at the Democratic and Republican conventions. He’s not the only one; authorities in Cleveland are preparing to mobilize 5,000 police for the Republican National Convention, Off The Grid News reported. Local, state and federal authorities are preparing to spend $50 million on security preparations for the event.
2. Terrorism. Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, who pledged allegiance to ISIS, murdered 49 people in a gay nightclub – and ISIS is urging more attacks on America.
An ISIS propaganda video that surfaced on June 27 called for attacks on San Francisco and Las Vegas. The video praised Mateen and contained pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge and downtown San Francisco, CBS San Francisco reported. Former FBI agent Jeff Harp told CBS that he thinks the video is an attempt to incite more terrorist attacks.
3. The U.S. and worldwide economies. Despite the recent surge on Wall Street, most experts say the Brexit vote in the United Kingdom will wreak economic havoc, once the UK launches the mechanism to leave the European Union. CNN compared Brexit’s effect to how the 2008 financial meltdown impacted banks. One British bank, the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), lost 40 percent of its value. Shares of Germany’s Deutsche Bank (NYSE: DB) fell by 25 percent. Bloomberg writer Lisa Abramowicz and many traders think Deutsche Bank could soon collapse.
Story continues below video
“History may be repeating itself right here before our eyes, given the huge selloff in stocks after the Brexit results were known, and then the bounce back of stocks a few days later,” said Chuck Butler, the managing director of EverBank Global Markets.
4. Threats to the electric grid. Parts of southern California could face up to two weeks of blackouts this summer because a natural gas storage facility is unavailable, The Los Angeles Times reported. That includes Los Angeles.
A cyberattack also could knock out the electric grid. Hackers were able to knock out power to 225,000 people in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of the Ukraine on Dec. 23, 2015, using malware.
Many experts, including government officials, are worried the US will be the target of the next cyberattack. ISIS is trying to develop the capability for such attacks.
“We’ve seen the ISIS propaganda machine recruiting the brightest new computer minds and brilliant techs,” Miller Newton, the CEO of encryption company Pkware, told Fortune. “They’re building the capabilities to do cyberwarfare and it’s coming in a substantial way.”
In fact, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have begun issuing warnings to America’s power grid operators and other utilities about the serious threat of cyberattacks, Off The Grid News reported in April.
Other dangers to the grid include a solar storm that would take out the grid or an EMP attack from a country such as Iran or North Korea.
“North Korea wants to launch a satellite, and one of the greatest risks of the satellite is they would place a nuclear device in the satellite,” US Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said earlier this year. “It would orbit around the Earth, and as it got over the United States they would detonate that nuclear weapon and set of what’s called an EMP, or electromagnetic pulse, which could take down the entire electrical grid on the Eastern seaboard, potentially killing millions.”
The Iranian military has studied the possibility of launching an EMP attack on the US electric grid, US Representative Trent Franks (R-Arizona) said. Franks said an Iranian document called “Passive Defense” describes such an attack, NewsMax reported.
“It outlined that the best way to deal with countries like America, a country that was much stronger than them, was an asymmetric strategy of attacking our electric grid,” Franks said of Passive Defense.
US Representative Lou Barletta (R-Pennsylvania) has warned that the grid would be down for weeks following an attack.
“If the goal of terrorists is to collapse our economy, then shutting down our electrical grid is where they would start,” Barletta wrote in a Roll Call op-ed. “Most troubling is the possibility that a cyberattack would be accompanied by a physical terrorist attack, a scenario that promises true havoc, panic and loss of life. The great challenge is that the threat continues to evolve, which only means that we are forced to evolve with it and be prepared for it.”

A group of politicians wants to turn terror watch lists into a tool that can be used to strip any citizen of his or her Second Amendment rights, but there’s a lot they’re not telling us about how those lists work.
“After Sept. 11, common sense dictates that the federal government stop gun sales to suspects on the Terrorist Watch list,” US Representative Peter King (R-New York) said.
King and US Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) co-sponsored a bill that would prevent people on the list from buying guns and also would give the US attorney general the power to place names on the list.
But the list often includes names of innocent people who don’t deserve to be on the list and who would have their constitutional rights infringed, say both the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
The Senate rejected a similar bill this month.
The ACLU said it does not oppose all gun regulations but believes the watch list is “error-prone and unreliable because it uses vague and overbroad criteria and secret evidence to place individuals on blacklists without a meaningful process to correct government error and clear their names.”
“Regulation of firearms and individual gun ownership or use must be consistent with civil liberties principles, such as due process, equal protection, freedom from unlawful searches, and privacy,” the ACLU said.
More Than 1 Million Names on List
The government keeps different lists, but one such list includes about 1.5 million names, of which about 15,000 are US citizens or residents, according to FactCheck.org. A different list, the no-fly list, has more than 80,000 names, and 1,000 are citizens or residents.
For years, civil rights lawyers have alleged that the lists are full of names of innocent people.
“It is beyond easy for a government official to ‘nominate’ someone for listing, yet exceedingly difficult to be removed,” Ramzi Kassem, a professor of law at the City University of New York, wrote in The Washington Post.
Kassem heads the Creating Law Enforcement Accountability and Responsibility project (CLEAR), which has sued the government over the lists.
“Because the lists are shrouded in official secrecy, the public knows very little about them,” Kassem wrote.
According to the government’s own guidelines, “concrete facts” are not required to get included on the list. All it takes is “reasonable suspicion.”
“In fact, the guidance carves out a number of loopholes that dispense with reasonable suspicion altogether,” Kassem wrote. “Immediate family members of a suspected terrorist can be listed, as can other associates not themselves known or suspected to be involved in anything — and, finally, individuals with only ‘a possible nexus’ to terrorism. It is unclear what ‘a possible nexus’ actually means, and whether it is any different from a mere hunch.”
The only way Kassem was able to get four innocent men off the watch list was to sue the federal government.
“One of them was unable to visit his wife and three daughters in Yemen for years as a result. Another did not see his wife and family in Afghanistan. Yet another could not care for his ailing grandmother in Pakistan. And the fourth lost his job, as it required air travel,” Kassem wrote. “Only days before the first major court appearance in the case — presumably to minimize embarrassment in a public hearing — government attorneys informed us that all four of our clients had been removed from the list and should no longer face trouble traveling.”
Ted Kennedy’s Name on the List?
Incredibly, there is no official process for citizens to find out if they are on the watch list — or to get their names taken off it if they are.
“In fact, the government most often will not even tell our clients they are on a watch list, stating in its letters that it ‘can neither confirm nor deny any information … which may be within federal watch lists,’” Kassem wrote.
Names on the no-fly list included a 4-year-old boy who had been on the list since he was seven-months old, Off The Grid News previously reported.
The late U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, in 2004, famously learned his name was on the list when agents tried to block him – on five separate occasions – from getting on a plane.
President Obama, Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump all have said persons on the no-fly list or watch list should be barred from having guns.
“The NRA believes that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms, period,” the NRA said in a June 15 statement. “Anyone on a terror watchlist who tries to buy a gun should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing. … At the same time, due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watch list to be removed.”

Orlando has been in our prayers and in our minds these past few days.
On top of the madness, blame and suffering, there’s a sad fact. Terrorism attacks have become the 2016 reality.
And we’re on our own to get prepared and face the danger. Here’s what help I could gather from our community:
1. 16 Things You Need to Know When Caught in a Panicky Crowd or Riot
“What happens if you are stuck in a large riotous crowd? Now this can be the result of an evacuation or bug out situation or just riots for any one of many reasons. Now back in the early seventies I was working undercover and got caught in a couple of the anti-war riots that occurred during this period. I even ended up on the wrong side of a police line, not the right place to be.”

2. How to protect your home from rioting mobs using fire as a weapon
“As the presidential political landscape takes shape, even a passive observer can tell it is looking like a violent year. I have been taking careful notes on these developments and it should have you worried if you live in an urban area. In particular, it has caused me to review preparations to counter fire dangers. I have seen firsthand how fire can be used as a weapon either intentionally or inadvertently and it has awesome destructive force. More specifically, in an urban setting, out of control fires can quickly spread and consume entire blocks in firestorms. Now, think about your home. How well is it protected and how prepared are you if fire is used directly or indirectly against your home? More specifically, if the fire department can’t or won’t respond to your home because of riots and anarchy, will you be able to prevent fire from destroying it?”

3. Weapon Handling in an Active Killer Event
“Last weekend I taught an Active Shooter/ Active Killer response class at The Tactical Defense Institute in southern Ohio. Myself and several other instructors presented three days of material for 27 eager students. One of the key learning points we discussed all weekend was how to avoid being mistaken for the killer if you choose to draw your pistol and respond during an active killer event. With more and more police agencies teaching a rapid single officer response to an active shooter call combined with larger numbers of armed citizens with CCW permits, there is the very real chance that another armed responder may be on scene if you decide to engage the killer. In a rapidly evolving stressful event like that, it’s very easy for responders to make mistakes. It’s no good if you stop the killing only to be shot by another CCW permit holder or a responding police officer who mistakes you for the killer.”

4. Effective Practice For Concealed Carry Self Defense
“Effective self defense with a handgun involves reality based training and practice.
It needs to be practiced into ‘muscle memory’ to the extent that if and when the MOMENT arrives to use lethal force, that you will react swiftly and effectively to save your life or other innocent lives.”

Rahm Emanual, the mayor of Chicago, Obama’s home town, has been quoted many times as having said, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste…” But few people ever remember the end of that quote, which is the truly telling part. It goes on to say, “…And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”
Leaving the grammatical mistakes aside, this quote gives us a keen insight into progressive-liberal thinking. While they try to paint themselves as the party of compassion, Democrats are anything but compassionate.
Their history makes this clear, even though their telling of it is the opposite. We must remember that it was the Democrats, not the Republicans who were and are trying to oppress the blacks. So, while they claim to support blacks today, it’s only to get their vote.
Liberals know that they can’t get their extremist agenda passed into law; so in many ways, they’ve given up trying. That’s what’s behind many of Obama’s executive actions, as well as many of the court cases that the left brings up, purely for the purpose of defining case law to mean what they want it to mean.
With this in mind, it’s no surprise that Obama has chosen to use the Orlando shooting as one more opportunity to make political hay, rather than to do anything meaningful to protect the people of the United States of America. He cares about us just about as much as Democrats in general care about blacks.
No, I’m not being cynical with this, merely observant. Time after time, Obama has used a crisis to further his political agenda, rather than to do anything worthwhile. Once again, rather than address the elephant of Radical Islam in the room, Obama has chosen to use this act of violence to claim that there’s a need for more gun control.
In the world according to Obama, it was actually a 29 year old gun named Omar Mateen walked into the Pulse Nightclub, a gay bar in Orlando, Florida and opened fire, all by itself. I’ll have to say, that was quite a gun. I’ve never seen a gun that can walk, let alone one that has the mental capacity to pick its own targets, based on its religious/political views. Obviously, my guns are defective, or just too darn lazy to do what the president says that guns are supposed to do.
It’s become like a broken record, with Obama repeating the same talking points over and over again, each and every time that some Islamic radical or crazed young man goes off and kills a bunch of people. His total disregard for the facts and his total denial of the reality of radical Islam has turned his response to these attacks into a circus side-show, rather than a meaningful response from the man who is supposed to be the most powerful man in the world.
But maybe this time was just a little different. Obama did say that they (meaning his administration) believes this to be a terrorist act, as well as a hate crime. Of course, that statement didn’t include anything about the killer being a Muslim extremist or his ties to ISIS. Nor does it admit the fact of Islamic terrorism. But that’s all right, as far as ISIS is concerned, because they took credit for the act themselves, rather than waiting for Obama to do it for them.
Perhaps Obama’s use of the term terrorist was nothing more than a precursor to his blaming this horrific act of violence on right-wing terrorists, as he has done before. I guess you could say that Muslims are conservative in one regard though, as they want to keep things the way they used to be, back in the sixth century. But they aren’t the same sort of conservatives as we have here in the USA.
Video first seen on Thisthatamazing.
So thanks to Obama’s failure to tell the truth and place the blame where it belongs, all he’s accomplished is to stoke the political fires and show how ineffective he is as a leader. As for any meaningful response, especially one that goes after the enemies who perpetrated this act of war, we’ll have to wait for the next president to come along.
Of course, that depends on who the next president will be. Hillary is in the same camp as Obama in a number of things, most specifically her feelings towards Muslims. She has made plenty of statements showing that she supports them over US citizens. And we can’t forget that Hillary, like Obama, was indicted in Egypt for their support of the Muslim Brotherhood, a known Muslim extremist organization. She seems also responsible for allowing our ambassador to be killed in Baghdad, while not raising a finger in his defense. Rather, she made a premeditated attack on a YouTube video and its maker.
So we can expect Hillary’s reaction to these attacks to be the same as Obama’s, ignoring them for what they are, and calling for greater and more restrictive gun control. After all, the more they can do to take the guns away from the people, the better they can control the people.
What Makes the Difference?
But there may be something even more sinister in wanting to take the guns away from honest citizens. Could it be that Obama, Clinton and others are actually in cahoots with the Muslim terrorists? Could their efforts to disarm the public actually be in preparation for an all-out Muslim invasion? Could they actually be so sold out to the Muslims, that they are willing to work to create an open field for them, where Muslims would have no opposition to their killing sprees?
Apparently there were no armed citizens in that bar, who could defend themselves and stop the gunman from killing others. The left will try to use that, unrealistically I might add, to show how useless a good guy with a gun is. But in doing so, they will have to ignore the work of the Orlando police, good guys with guns, who ultimately brought the killer down.
It is clear that Obama, Clinton and their cabal have missed the import of this incident, along with that of San Bernardino, California. These are clear acts of war, propagated by a terrorist organization which is calling itself a country, the Islamic State. They have declared war on us and invaded our country; and yet our political leadership is doing nothing in response. Where is the outcry from Washington? Where is the national call to arms? Where is the condemnation of the criminal government that stands behind this incident?
This was not “homegrown terrorism” as the left would have us believe. The shooter was a Muslim who declared his ties to ISIS. His parents were immigrants from Afghanistan, a Muslim country; and even though they condemn the killing their son wrought, they are the ones who brought him up in the Muslim faith. Yes, he was born on American soil, but his act of terrorism had nothing to do with that. It was an act of Islamist outrage that people would live differently than the way that they demand.
As a conservative and a Christian, I cannot and will not condone homosexuality. But as a former member of our military, I have stood to protect the homosexual way of life. How they choose to live is their decision, and as long as they do not hurt anyone else in the process, it is their right.
I imagine I could find many other conservatives, Christians and service members who would agree with me on that. But none of us would walk into a gay bar and open fire. Yet Omar Mateen felt he had the right to do so, just because he was offended by two gay men kissing. Hey, I don’t like seeing men kiss each other either, but that’s their business. My appropriate response is to look away.
War has been declared on us by Islam in general. The Islamic State itself has declared war on us. Oh, they blame it on the United States and Obama’s drone war, but that’s mere smoke and mirrors. They declared war on us, killing Americans and our allies, long before we fired our first shot. Have we forgotten 9/11?
President Bush was right to declare the War on Terror in the wake of 9/11. Regardless of the effectiveness of his actions and the accuracy of his information in attacking Iraq, he did so in the propagation of that war. He recognized the enemy and went after it; fighting the war on enemy ground, rather than giving them the opening to continue attacking us here at home. The result? There were no more terrorist attacks on American soil during the rest of his presidency.
Yet today we mourn the seventh such attack on American soil, since Obama took office. These attacks are accelerating. With the frequency between them shortening. Why? Because we have made no effective response. Our enemy only understands strength; yet we have shown them nothing but weakness.
Say what you want about Donald Trump, he has promised to do something about Muslim extremism in this country. While I don’t particularly like him as a presidential candidate, I feel confident that he won’t just sit by and condemn guns, when it is Muslim killers who need to be condemned. He may not yet have the knowledge of how he will do that, but it is clear that he has no intention of allowing these attacks to continue unanswered.
Should Trump win the election, I feel confident that one of his first actions will be to demand that the military and perhaps the Department of Homeland Security, provide him with real plans for dealing with ISIS. It may not happen the first day, or even the first week, but the order will go out.
It is time to stop Islam in its tracks. They can have their religion and they can worship their god. But they have no right to subjugate the world and they have no right to attack American soil. It is time for a strong response and we need a strong leader, who can provide that response. Anything less will lead to the continued shedding of American lives.

Terrorist attacks have become a common occurrence–not just in the Middle East, but all over the world. From the notorious disaster on 9/11 in 2001 to the recent attacks in Paris and Brussels to last weekend’s murder of 49 people in Orlando, it seems terrorists have the ability to strike anywhere at anytime. The only […]
The post Surviving a Terrorist Attack: 5 Things You Need To Know appeared first on Urban Survival Site.
If you’re a regular reader, you’ve probably read some of my articles; I usually write about fun, informational stuff but not today. I live in Orlando, the City Beautiful. The land of flip-flops and Mickey Mouse, beaches and motorcycles, college kids and retirees.
On Sunday, Orlando was ground zero for the largest mass shooting in US history. My city was attacked by an ISIS-affiliated terrorist, and I’m really pissed.
Sunday morning, I went outside to walk my dogs, still half-asleep, before I turned on my TV and learned that some no-good, nut job, wife-beating jerk had decided that it was his right to judge and lethally punish a bar full of innocent people just because he didn’t like the way they lived. There were about 300 people inside Pulse Orlando, and over 1/3 of them were murdered or injured.
Pulse had a young following, so most of the dead were in their 20s and early 30s. Kids, really. According to reports, the shooter (I refuse to name him because he was just a lowly, cowardly sheep) scoped out Downtown Disney and Pulse. He chose the club because it was a “gay club”.
While it’s true that Pulse had a large LGBT following, it wasn’t exclusively that, nor were all the victims gay. Even if they were, they sure as hell didn’t deserve to be gunned down for it.
Orlando is my home as well as a prime destination for vacationers of all sorts. It’s supposed to be a place of fun; a place where fantasies are real and dreams come true. Yes, I realize that’s mostly an illusion created by commercialism, but to me, it’s true. Florida is my little slice of paradise and I’m enraged that some lowly hater spilled a river of blood in my streets.
What I’ve realized today is that the REAL illusion is the one of peace and safety that we all create.
I’ve known that security is an illusion for a long time now. That’s why I enjoy contributing to Survivopedia; I drink my own Kool Aid. I know that world-changing events are always just right around the corner, but on Sunday, I was shoved around that corner before I’d even had my morning coffee.
At least I was fortunate enough to live through the night; that’s more than what 49 of my fellow Orlandians were gifted with.
I’m sure that you’ve all been watching events unfold from afar, but let me bring it home a little bit for you. The news has been stating that they couldn’t release the names of all of the victims until the families had been notified; the truth is that families couldn’t be notified until the bodies were identified. Until just a few hours ago, they were still removing bullet-riddled corpses from Pulse.
For nearly 24 hours after the attack, Orlando Regional Medical Center was on lock-down just trying to handle the massive influx of wounded and dead kids. Nine died after arrival and several more are still in critical condition.
In total, 49 people were killed and another 53 were wounded. Three blocks around the club were blocked off for more than 24 hours so that bodies could be recovered without being filmed.
Just now, as I’m writing this piece, they released the name of the final, 49th victim: Stanley Almodovar III, age 23. He was a pharmacy tech described as humble and kind. He hadn’t even started living before he was gunned down by a psycho.
11 members of the Orlando Anarchy, our women’s football team, were there celebrating the end of the season with their friends and significant others. One of the boyfriends was killed. Another woman, a mother and wife, was there celebrating a birthday. Now she’s dead. This isn’t a faceless crime.
We Will Stay United
Over the years, I’ve sat in front of my television and watched as terrorists took the lives of people all over the world. I’ve felt a somewhat detached anger and sorrow for those people who lost so much, but there was always a certain degree of separation. Yesterday, that separation was shattered.
I’ve watched as my city has responded and I’m proud. O-Town is a pretty liberal place. Our culture is diverse and our politics, like the victims in this attack, run from one end of the rainbow to the other. We have die-hard bikers and hookah-smoking hipsters. Families visit Disney and business people conduct corporate retreats.
The one thing that we all share is that this is our home and we’ve come together grandly. There was a desperate need for O-negative and AB-positive blood and people of all races, religions, and sexual persuasions stood in line for 8 hours to donate.
Families had nowhere to stay and hotels gave out free rooms. Restaurants gave free meals and volunteers donated countless hours of time. Business signs removed their ads and ran banners of support. Demonstrators stood on corners with signs declaring that we refuse to be drowned in despair.
We came together in love to fight the bloody results of hate. Our flags are flying at half-mast but we are still Americans; we refuse to buckle under the weight of terrorism.
Gun Control Is NOT the Solution
Sadly, our situation is not the first of its kind; we already have a precedent to follow. People are going to be shocked, then, inevitably, we’re going to try to make sense of the senseless. The enemy seems like smoke, there then gone. How do we fight that?
Whispers about gun control become roars because that’s the only way some people can think of to prevent this from happening again. We look to things that we can control, because it’s human nature in the face of tragedy. That’s happening here already.
People on one side of the fence are screaming about the fact that the murderer, who had been interviewed twice by the FBI, bought his guns legally. Obviously (to them), gun laws need tightened.
People on the other side of the fence (me included) are wondering if things would have been different had even one person in that club been armed. We also keep saying again and again that guns don’t kill people; people kill people.
Chicago has the tightest gun laws in the country, as well as the highest murder rates; how are those gun laws working out for them?
Gun regulation isn’t the answer because the only people who are going to follow the laws aren’t the ones who are going to go out and shoot people anyway. That seems to be a fact that people tend to overlook.
The bottom line is that nobody can stop hate. You can’t fix crazy. No amount of immigration laws or gun laws, or regulations of any sort are going to stop somebody bent on committing heinous acts.
All we can do is be alert and be prepared. We can’t let fear rule our lives but it would be naively stupid to think that something like this isn’t going to happen again because, unfortunately, it will.
I’m glad the police killed the punk. My only regrets are that he killed so many before somebody got him and that his death was so quick.
Orlando has its share of crime, but for the most part, I’ve always felt safe here. I still do; just now I’ll feel a little safer when I’m carrying my 9 mil, because you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be on high alert even as I continue to enjoy my life in the land of sandcastles and fairy princesses.
THAT is my right, and nobody is going to take it from me without a fight.
To all the friends and families of the victims of the Orlando shooting, you have my deepest sympathies. To everybody else, be vigilant.
On Sunday, this happened in my town; tomorrow it could happen in yours.

What are you most concerned about these days? If you listen to the media it should be all politics, all the time. Every website, news program, and talk radio time-slot is consumed with this year’s national elections. I understand that our nation is standing at a precipice, and who becomes the next leader of the United States could well determine whether we continue in a position of power, or fade from history. (By the way, the origin of that word precipice, is from late 16th Century Latin and denotes “a headlong fall” … not very encouraging, is it?)
I guess I’m asking because I’m starting to see people becoming more myopic; focused too narrowly on one thing or another that they hope will “fix” our nation and put us back on the path to greatness. For some, that is hoping that a particular candidate will make good on their campaign promises and turn this big ship around. For others, it is a big rally in the stock market, because their portfolio or bank balance is the barometer of their future security. Still others know that these are not real solutions for what ails us, and they either turtle up and refuse to even think about the scary possibilities of the future, let alone take any steps to prepare for a different existence — or they refuse to even entertain the thought that anything, or anyone, could defeat the mighty United States of America.
And whether you are a person of faith or not, it seems to me as if we are all hoping, against hope, that we can escape what our very spirits and souls are telling us is imminent. I am not trying to panic anyone or be a doomsday prophet. I guess I am simply a realist. As a Christian, I am secure in my eternal destiny; but I also know that this does not exempt me from having to face some very alarming situations in the present. Recent events in Europe have shown us that our Western civilization is under physical attack. Russian fighter planes are buzzing our Naval fleet in the Baltic Sea; coming within 30 feet of the ships’ decks. North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, ordered the country’s nuclear weapons to be made ready for use at a moment’s notice. I think we can all agree that these are very real threats to not only our nation, but the world! Yes, as individuals, there is very little we can do about the decisions made by world leaders. But that doesn’t mean we ignore them or fail to consider the consequences of such actions and how they might affect us and our families.
These are examples of actions readily seen by the public eye. What about covert activities being conducted outside the scope of public scrutiny? Are you prepared for, or do you even think about, actions that could stealthily endanger you or your community? Are you paying attention? Or are you too focused on the big picture being orchestrated for you; or perhaps just the opposite, are you deliberately putting your blinders on and pretending everything is status quo?
I suggest that we all get real, and begin paying close attention to what is going on around us, and here’s the perfect reason why…. I am going to relate to you a very concerning situation that has come to my attention through a friend of my husband’s who lives out-of-state. I am not going to reveal any names or cities, because I want you to look at what I’m about to tell you with clear-sightedness; as if this could be any city in the country. And believe me it could.
This friend is the father of a daughter who attends an affluent private Christian school in a major city in the U.S. Like any devoted father, he wanted to be involved in a meaningful way with the administration of his daughter’s school. Being a licensed firearms instructor, it was natural for him to become involved on the Security Committee at the school. As the newest member, he wanted to become familiar with the team that had been hired to provide security for the school and its students. (I am assuming that because the school is private and in an affluent neighborhood, they can afford to hire security teams, where public schools and perhaps less wealthy schools would not have this opportunity).
|Wall of grief in Beslan|
You can imagine the concern that this father felt when he discovered that the private security team hired to protect his daughter’s school was dubious, and the owner of the security firm raised some suspicions. Now, before anyone accuses me of being bigoted or conspiratorial, I would remind you that this is a Christian school in an affluent American suburb. If you can tell me that this would not raise a huge red flag for you, then I would like to remind you of the 2004 Beslan school siege (or massacre, as it was known in Russia), in which 1,100 people were taken hostage (777 of which were children), and 385 died. It is the opinion of many security officials (and special forces operators) that Beslan was “the dress rehearsal” for more planned takeovers of schools. If they are concerned, shouldn’t we be?
Why do I think that this friend and father has a right to be concerned? Because our children are our most precious possessions, and the quickest way to bring this nation to its knees, and to rip our souls asunder, is to attack our kids. Enemy terrorists only have to look at the response of our nation at any school shooting that takes place. It rips the heart out of this country.
In 2014, author William Forstchen wrote a book titled Day of Wrath, in which he painted an exceptionally vivid picture of this very scenario. I read it and wrote a post about it, knowing full well that what Mr. Forstchen wrote as a fictional warning was very timely and necessary. And if you think my friend is over-reacting about his daughter’s security team, then I invite you to read the book (and the nearly 1200 customer reviews) and then tell me how you would feel if it was your daughter at that school.
Believe me, I pray that the security team at this Christian school proves to be above-board, a team of consummate professionals, and everyone feels they are the right choice. But God help us if the red flag that has been raised turns out to be valid. All I’m saying is that we are living in times that are unprecedented and dangerous. Our future in this world is precarious, and we cannot afford to be blindsided because we are letting down our guard. Stay focused, tune in, and pay attention to what’s going on around you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and to demand answers. And above all else, don’t stop praying for God’s Mercy on us!
1 Thessalonians 5:6 “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.”
Having an escape plan is a basic tenant of survival. While a prepper’s escape plan is often a good indicator of his overall state of preparedness, carrying a restraint escape kit doesn’t make him an evasion artist any more than owning a first aid kit makes him a physician.
The restraint escape kit is one facet of an escape plan, which is part of a survival plan that includes preparation, skills, training, planning, awareness and fitness in each of the basic areas of life. Knowing how to use and carry it, is another part of the deal.
You already know about the Survival Sensei Restraint Escape Kit from my previous article on Survivopedia about restraint escape kits. SS REK is a kit that I’ve designed to address shortcomings in commercially available kits, and now I’m going to tell you more about how to (and how not to) carry restraint escape gear.
Stay tuned, more is still to come about techniques specific to escape and evasion.
What Not To Do
Many vendors designing and selling restraint escape gear should know better than to hide it in wallets, glue it under a Rolex, attach it to or carry it in anything you are likely to be unceremoniously relieved of when mugged, much less abducted.
Unfortunately, some vendors are more interested in moving product than in your well-being, which is unacceptable. Some of the good guys currently teaching restraint escape are failing to think like bad guys. Police officers and soldiers may not be interested in taking your watch or wallet from you, but criminals are.
Some criminal organizations in the business of kidnapping strip victims down to their underwear and/or take their footwear once they are transported to a site where they can be held. Victims not ransomed are sometimes killed, sometimes prostituted and sometimes sold. The stupid and lazy criminal is a stereotype Hollywood uses to entertain and parents use to get young children to sleep.
Now that you know how a criminal acts, avoid these places to put your restraint escape gear unless you want it discovered and taken at the outset of the ordeal:
- Survival kit (Even a small kit is a target if stored in your clothing or worse yet, in or attached to a bag.)
- Fake credit card
- Watch band or under the watch (Especially an expensive watch. I have had watches as cheap as $15 stolen right off my arm.)
- In jewelry that someone in a hurry could imagine to be of value
- Bag or pack
- Behind a badge, in a badge wallet or ID
- In or attached to a gun belt or load bearing equipment
- Bundled together or packed together in a Kit bulky enough to be found in a pat down and carried from the skin out.
The Balance Between Ideal and Convenient Carry
I carry restraint escape gear daily, so I understand the need to balance best practices with convenience. A REK or PSK (Personal Survival Kit) is not going to do you any good unless you have it when you need it.
People tend to leave gear behind if it is inconvenient to carry, so some degree of bundling of gear may be necessary in order to have the tools on hand that are necessary for you to escape the restraints most likely to be used on you.
If you decide to carry it all together in a single kit, justifying that you won’t carry it otherwise, at least consider carrying it in a kit that you can stash under layers of clothing, cheek, tape or deep carry in the event that your situation becomes dire and you have time to do so. I do not recommend planning on having time to hide RE gear at the last moment, because it may be too late by the time you realize that you need to do so.
If you are unlawfully restrained, it is unlikely that you will know beforehand what type of restraints will be used or in what position you will be restrained. If you are restrained with your hands in back and the tools you need are in front, you won’t be able to reach them and vice versa.
You need to be able to reach your tools whether your hands are in front of you or behind you. This can be accomplished by carrying two sets of tools, carrying them on your wrist, hands or feet, tying them to a cord that circles your waist, wearing them so they can be lowered or dropped into your hand, and so on.
It doesn’t matter how you do it. It only matters that the method is effective when you need it to be.
Carry For Your Environment
In jurisdictions or situations where the danger of being searched is high and/or the consequences of being caught carrying RE gear are severe, then carry everyday objects that can be quickly modified to serve the same purpose, e.g. mini binder clips can be carried as money clips and the handles used in place of handcuff keys.
If you have long enough hair, wear hair clips and bobby pins.
In deciding on what to carry, this is what you must take into consideration:
- Am I in a permissive or non-permissive environment? What are the risks and my exposure to those risks if I am caught with RE gear? What is my risk and exposure if I don’t carry RE gear and I end up needing it? Are there laws that apply to RE gear in the jurisdictions I will travel through?
- Who are my potential enemies? What are their MO’s, motivations and capabilities? e.g. in one part of the world I frequent, a common method of murder is to bind the victim and tape a plastic bag over the head of the victim. It’s cheap, convenient, relatively quiet and doesn’t make a big bloody mess. It’s also a death you just might be able to escape if you are aware of the threat and properly trained and equipped.
Carry Options for Restraint Escape Gear
Carry options are only limited by imagination. Any given method is only effective with gear of the right size and shape, so I modify my RE gear to be adaptable to a great number of carry options, some of which are:
Elastic Loop Carry
The RE Modules can be folded in half and carried in elastic handcuff key loops sewn on many belts designed for concealed carry. The elastic loop also serves as the belt’s tag.
This method is convenient in that your belt can be moved to whatever clothing you are wearing that day without having to move the tools. You can also sew elastic webbing loops onto other belts you own or even some articles of clothing. If you do, use a slightly wider elastic loop which enables you to store the kit laid flat. This makes the kit more difficult to detect in a pat down.
SERE Belt Carry
Laid flat, both RE Modules, the E&E Module, money, a friction saw and a couple of last ditch ingestible items all fit in mine without any noticeable bulges and room to spare.
The Black Ops by Oscar Delta is the best design I have found to date because it constructed like a taco that closes at the top with a thin strip of Velcro. This makes it easy to retrieve tools from the belt without dropping them.
The belt looks like a high quality version of countless other web belts and does not have a paramilitary look to it or the gimmicky molded buckles used to hide gear that are common.
It’s not cheap to buy a restraint escape kit and have it sewn in to each article of clothing you own, but it is affordable to add “suspender buttons” to your trousers and shorts so you can hang tools by a Kevlar thread/trip line for retrieval.
The line serves double duty as a lanyard for small tools to prevent them from being dropped out of reach into the dark by hands that are cold, wet, muddy, sweaty, bloody and/or injured.
You will most likely be operating at significantly less than 100% due to a mix of fear, fatigue, stress, pain, hunger, thirst or exposure. With this method, only two sets of RE tools (one accessible in front and one in back) are necessary since they can be moved each time you change clothing.
Hang tools so they lay behind reinforced areas of clothing like the flies, seams, tags, etc. and in areas that don’t typically get touched in a pat down.
Safety Pin Carry
Low tech and simple are often underrated these days. All modules of the SS REK come with a subdued safety pin to affix them inside. Most kits worth carrying can be adapted for this method with a safety pin, a little Gorilla tape and/or vinyl tape and a hole punch.
Safety pins are also useful tools in their own right. The inside of your underwear is one of few places your gear is likely to go unnoticed if you are forced to strip down to your drawers and change clothing, which is SOP for some organizations.
Fly Button Carry
Like a suspender button, you can loop a thread or cord over the button of button fly trousers. This is also a popular carry method for Go Tubes or Stash Tubes and an RE Module and most of the E&E Module or up to $1000 US in a 2.6″ tube using this method.
Under Tag Carry
RE modules are small enough to fit under the tags of some clothing brands. It is hard to feel tools underneath semi-rigid leather tags and it is a small matter to remove a tag from one article of a clothing to another.
Moleskin or Band Aid Carry
You can stash a cuff key and/or shim under a patch of Moleskin, Molefoam, a Band-aid or similar dressing from your First Aid Kit before going into a high threat situation. Make it look real and use the flattest cuff key possible. The E&E portion of the kit includes an extra pocket for a handcuff key modified for flat storage.
Using bandages, medical devices, casts and even surgical implantation is a method of smuggling that enjoys a long and storied history including the famous Lincoln assassination, but Ed Calderone (Ed’s Manifesto, Libre Fighting Systems, TAD Black Box Course) arrived at the idea independently and would like to receive credit for it.
Considering his contributions to the field, I would be the last person to deprive him of that. (Well … that and the fact I don’t want to get hung on a meat hook and used as flesh piñata for one of his Black Box courses) … so, “Great job Ed!” : )
The SS REK is sized to fit under Velcro flag patches on uniforms and in Velcro Covert Patch Pouches which are carried underneath a flag patch or on top of the Velcro on uniforms and hats and have an interior pocket to hide REK or E&E gear on a uniform, hat or anything else with a flag patch.
There are several brands of underwear on the market that have stash pouches designed into them. They range from hidden secret pockets to just well-placed pockets.
I travel to places where armed robberies are common enough that anybody who is streetwise carries an old cellphone in their hand or pocket in public and carries their newest phone in their underwear.
If it is so common why does it work? Probably because typical MO is that criminals will board a bus, one puts a pistol to the driver’s head and the other goes down the bus with a bag and a handgun telling everyone one to drop their wallet and their phone in the bag. If you don’t comply, they shoot you in the face and move on.
The laws are so easy on minors that in many countries that it’s mostly minors doing the robberies. In this case, the criminals are young, scared, in a hurry and don’t have time to search people … even foreigners. You need to stay situationally aware. That means understanding your enemies, their motivations, their situation, their capabilities and the same for yourself.
Jewelry or Accessory Carry
Escape kits or tools can be built into necklaces, earrings, hair clips, eye or sun glasses, bracelets, rings or any other accessory. To be effective, you want to avoid: looking like an escape tool, the appearance of being valuable, looking paramilitary in nature or standing out in any way.
Objects that look common, worthless and benign are more likely to be overlooked, but even this depends on the knowledge of your captor, how much of a hurry they are in, at what point you are in the abduction process and so on.
Objects hidden in plain sight are most useful immediately after capture or during transportation because they will likely be found later on.
Most shoes come with a built-in friction saw in the form of shoelaces. Depending on the material use to restrain you, your shoe laces may work as a friction saw in a pinch, but it’s a simple matter to replace factory shoelaces with heat resistant, high strength, abrasion resistant cordage. A friction saw is a piece of cordage with loops tied on the ends and work similar to a wire survival saw.
The saw is threaded through restraints, you put your feet through the loops and use a bicycling motion to cut through restraints by generating heat. This technique can be used to cut para cord without a knife by using the cord to cut itself.
Friction saws are effective against duct tape, zip ties, rope or Zip Cuffs, but you may need to use a handcuff shim, bobby pin or other object to thread the saw between the bindings and your skin if it is tight. Tying a knot in the center will give the saw extra bite to cut rope made of natural fibers but knots are less effective when cutting synthetics.
Para cord works, gives you a source of cordage and comes in so many colors that it’s not difficult to find one that looks normal on boots, but Technora and Kevlar look less para military and are more resistant to heat. Sheathed Kevlar looks sharp on dress shoes. Just cut the cordage to length, burn the ends and add some aglets or improvise a pair from clear tape for a temporary, field expedient solution.
At least one model of handcuff key is made to be crimped onto a shoelace in place of an aglet, hiding in plain sight.
Placing escape gear on the feet, or in footwear solves the problem of accessing a tool whether you are restrained with your hands in front or in back. Footwear often has complex lines, taped seams, insoles, soles and heels, making them a favorite of smugglers for hiding small objects.
Tools hidden in footwear are best used early on in the ordeal because captives are often relieved of their footwear at some point, but some of the best opportunities to escape often occur shortly after capture or during transportation. In some cases, abductees have been forced to give up their shoes but allowed to keep their socks.
At some point, it may be to your advantage to cache RE gear. You need to have RE gear on your person to start out with, but many escape tools are tiny so it is not unreasonable to carry a little extra. You will not likely be able to cache gear in the van used to abduct you ahead of time, but what about the trunk of your own car? Kids fatally trap themselves in car trunks often enough that interior trunk releases are now mandatory, but older vehicles don’t typically have them, they can be disabled and your chances of escape improve if you have freed yourself from restraints prior to opening the trunk and making a break for it.
Hiding an RE Module, a light source and a side arm in your car trunk can improve your chances of survival should you be stuffed into the trunk of your own vehicle by an opportunistic criminal who has underestimated you.
In the US, if a criminal armed with a handgun attempts to transport you, the chances the motive is robbery are almost nil and your chances of survival after being restrained and transported drop to single digits without an RE kit. Your chances are statistically far better if you fight and run … but this is only in the US and you have to make the call based on the circumstances and your abilities or lack thereof.
Percentage-wise, even if you are shot with a handgun during the escape attempt, you are 5 to 6 times more likely to survive than if you allow yourself to be bound or cuffed and put inside a vehicle. Given the opportunity, you may decide to cache some of the RE gear you carry or have obtained during the ordeal to prevent its discovery.
A glue dot or a little tape can help you seemingly defy the laws of physics to cache RE tools or hide them in a search of your person. Methods as simple as taping the kit to the bottom of a foot have escaped detection and enabled successful escapes.
It is also a sound practice to cache resources to aid in self recovery including backup RE gear in your area of operations. If you do manage to escape, it will likely be with precious few resources and stealing or using social engineering to get what you need can increase risk of recapture. Putting caches in place can be a simple insurance policy. Caches can be simple and inexpensive but need to be accessible 24/7/365 without anyone taking notice or being able to trace the cache back to you by any means if discovered.
Given the opportunity, you may be able to sneak a tool into your mouth. A slim shim is easiest. Definitely wouldn’t try for more than a handcuff Key and a bobby pin unless you are a magician and have gone so far as to make a dental prosthesis or have a flap surgically installed in your mouth. Like most techniques cheeking effectively takes practice.
Swallowing items for later retrieval is another option if capture is imminent, but the technique is dangerous, so you should make a risk-reward assessment according to your circumstances.
Candidates for swallowing are small non-ferrous, non-magnetic objects without any sharp edges making them less likely to damage the GI tract or get stuck in it which may require medical intervention to remove. The best candidate is a plastic hideout cuff key compatible with a reach around tool such as a bobby pin which should not be swallowed. Small button compasses have been swallowed by pilots and some instructors will tell you to do it, but that is risk-reward call.
I would absolutely not swallow a magnet or pairs of powerful rare earth magnets like I carry to use as a general direction compass by placing it on a small non-ferrous float or suspending it from a thread to point to magnetic North.
Once a magnet makes it’s way into the intestine it can attach to another magnet or a ferrous object, pinching off the intestine or the blood flow to an intestine which can be fatal. If either of the objects have a sharp edge or there is a small metal object such as a tiny flake of metal from grinding an object or using flint and steel in your GI tract, it could perforate your intestine.
Body Cavity Carry
This carry method is common enough that every culture seems to have it’s own euphemisms for carrying gear in the rectal cavity, the colon or any other body cavities you may happen to possess.
I get that this is not a topic for polite conversation or one where you are going to want to put in a lot of “range time” and is dangerous, but it is something people at risk should be aware of, should they find themselves in a desperate situation requiring such extreme measures. This technique is somewhat taboo to discuss, unpleasant to think about and surely more unpleasant to do … especially in situations where the pucker factor is so high you could scant drive a toothpick betwixt your cheeks with a sledge hammer.
Unfortunately, survival often entails going outside comfort zones and getting past cultural taboos. Ingestion and rectal insertion are dangerous and I certainly do not advocate this as an EDC method, but I did take this into consideration the design process.
This carry method typically involves placing the items to be carried inside a stash tube which is hidden in the rectum. The tube should made of a materials that are at short term biocompatible (at minimum), be as small as possible and free of any sharp edges.
It is possible pack a kit in a tight bundle without any sharp edges and tie it inside a condom. Obviously form factor and minimalism are of utmost importance here so an Altoids tin probably isn’t going to be a good candidate.
According to Don Rearic’s research on the topic, at least one desperate prisoner carried a small stash tube for 15 years or more, carrying it high enough in the colon to not be found in cavity searches. The SS REK is small enough that most of it can be packed into a stash tube and keistered for later retrieval.
The longer a stash is carried, the larger it is and the less biocompatible it is, the greater the danger will be to your health and the greater chance of discovery will be. See above for why a magnet and a ferrous object or more than one magnet in your GI tract can be fatal.

Restraint Escape is about improving your chances to survive certain harsh realities of the world we live in, so if you are a child or emotionally fragile, please stop reading and get parental consent or guidance before continuing. Survival and restraint escape involve tools and techniques that are dangerous, may be illegal in some jurisdictions and which can get you killed if misapplied.

Preppers know that today’s civilization is too dependent on electricity. Most can manage a power outage of a few hours or even one or two days. And, if things become too inconvenient, those affected by the power outage can just get in their vehicle and drive to a part of the city or state that is not experiencing a power outage.
But what if a whole nation goes down?
That scenario usually comes up when you think of an earth directed solar flare or EMP. Now, with cyber terrorism becoming a big possibility, many realize that our high-tech world can have some serious issues when an enemy wants to access our grid through an internet or network connection.
But I didn’t realize that there was an English counterpart to American Blackout. I mean English as in across the pond… A friend of mine told me about the British documentary the other day. It is called….wait for it…. Britain Blackout.
The documentary follows the same premise as American Blackout, it just might be a little darker. But as you can imagine, it comes with looting, rioting, people making bad decisions, blaming the government and even a “self-sufficient” guy. ***Warning*** – There is a lot of bad language in the British version.
The lessons are always the same:
Have backup power! – Having something like a Solar Charger Zzero small solar battery backup is smart. You can also go with a battery/solar powered radio. You might want to even make your own battery backup system. If you were to add a solar panel, you would be in good shape! Check out the solar tag cloud on Prepper Website.
Have redundancies and backups! – Don’t keep all your eggs in one basket. One guy gets robbed and all his food is taken. He starts to make some bad choices after that.
Check out Britain Blackout and tell me what you think below!
A 4-year-old boy was threatened with an anti-counterterrorism program and referred to police and social workers because he did not know how to say the world “cucumber.”
Preschool staff reported the boy as a potential terrorist to the United Kingdom’s Home Office after he pronounced “cucumber” as “cooker bomb” and drew a picture of a man cutting a vegetable with knife, BBC Asian Network reported. The Home Office is the British equivalent of the US Department of Homeland Security. The boy and his family are Asian.
Police and social workers were called in to evaluate the boy in order to see if he should be referred to a de-radicalization program, the media outlet reported. Under current law, teachers and other school officials are required to refer students suspected of terrorism or believing in terrorism to the program.
School officials though he was referencing a “cooker bomb.”
“[The member of staff] kept saying it was this one picture of the man cutting the cucumber … which she said to me is a ‘cooker bomb’, and I was baffled,” the mom told BBC Asian Network.
She said she was fearful her son would be taken from her.
“It was a horrible day,” the mom added.
Alex Kenny of the National Union of Teachers told the media outlet that teachers are “scared of getting it wrong” – referencing not following the law.
“They think [the government] is going to criticize them if they haven’t reported these things, and you end up [with] the boy making the spelling mistake, or the boy saying something in Arabic — that then gets reported on.”
Hundreds of British children have been identified as potential terrorists under the law, which encourages teachers to watch kids for signs of terrorism.
In a move that supposedly has Assad’s approval, Russian troops will be pulled back to a seaport and airbase in the Syrian province of Latakia. This effectively removes them from the war, while keeping the troops available should they be needed yet again.
To understand this move, it is necessary to first understand that Russia never entered the war as part of the United States led coalition. Rather, Putin sent troops to Syria in support of President Assad, who Russia supports as an ally and client state. In contrast, President Obama severely dislikes Assad and would like nothing more than to see him out of office. His efforts in the war have not been to support Assad, but rather to contain terrorist elements in the region.
Putin states that Russia has achieved their goals in the war, in bringing Assad’s administration and rebel forces together at the bargaining table in Geneva. The talks in Geneva are anything but amicable, with the UN mediator, Staffan de Mistura, keeping the rival factions separated and working with each of them individually. Nevertheless, there is hope that these talks will be successful. Mistura has already publicly stated that there is no Plan B. The talks must succeed or the sides will go back to fighting.
Should that happen, the fighting will probably be worse than before, with greater violence and greater casualties, especially amongst civilians. A quarter of a million civilians have already lost their lives in this conflict, which has also sparked mass migration to Europe and the United States.
Whether the peace talks are in process, it’s questionable how much hope for peace there truly is. The two sides have arrived at Geneva with totally opposite positions. While that is to be expected in any such negotiations, the differences between them seem irreconcilable. Rebel forces demand that Assad relinquish all power as a starting point, with a temporary governing body with full executive power appointed to see through a transition to a new government. Assad and his government are clearly opposed to considering that idea.
What About ISIS?
While the work going on at the bargaining table coincides with a month old cease-fire, it is important to note that ISIS is not part of the discussions, nor part of the cease-fire. So, warfare continues in Syria and the Middle East. However, Russia’s actions in the war were never focused on ISIS in particular, but were aimed at supporting Assad and his administration.
Even so, Russia has probably been the most effective fighter against ISIS, since their entry into the conflict. So, while they may have accomplished their goals, the results are far from satisfactory to other players who are currently in Syria, including many of the Gulf States and the United States.
The big question facing us is what is this going to mean for ISIS? While there have been no specific responses out of their representatives, representatives of other rebel groups have responded favorably to the withdrawal of Russian forces, seeing it as an advantage to them.
It is quite likely, considering the losses that Russian forces have inflicted upon ISIS troops and installations, that they will see the movement of Russian troops in the same light.
According to reports, or perhaps propaganda, coming out of ISIS, they are growing monthly, with new recruits joining them from around the world. If that is truly the case, than any reduction in enemy forces would be seen as a net gain to them.
The removal of Russian troops would mean that they have a greater majority on the battlefield, which should see new victories, as ISIS consolidates their gains and goes on the offensive once again.
It’s important to note that the war against ISIS has been largely ineffective, as Obama’s actions seem more focused on protecting ISIS from serious harm, then bringing out their doom. The American-led coalition is not very strong, and consists mostly of nations who are against ISIS, without taking any active military action against them. Those who are taking action are doing so mostly from the air; but as anyone who knows warfare can tell you, wars are not won from the air, but by the individual soldiers with rifles, who hold that all-important piece of real estate.
With fewer opposing troops on the ground, ISIS can be expected to win new victories. While I can’t fault the fighting zeal of the troops who are actively engaged against them, most are poorly trained and not very well equipped.
Unlike the First and Second Gulf Wars, where American troops crushed Iraqi forces in a lightning-fast attack, this war has taken the character of a slugfest, interspersed with ISIS committing atrocities against their captives.
If anything, this move spells danger for the United States, as well as the many other countries which are considered enemies of ISIS. Even more so than that, it spells danger for the Kurds and others on the ground, who are fighting ISIS daily. The lack of Russia’s support for the war will free up ISIS troops, which can then be used to widen the war or can be sent out as terrorists to attack civilian populations.
Video first seen on MSNBC
How This Translates to US
I would expect to see an upturn in terrorist incidents in Europe and the United States, as ISIS renews their supremacy in the area. Their goals have not changed one iota and they are not part of the current peace talks. Therefore, they will only see the removal of Russian troops from the field of battle as an opportunity, which they will be quick to take advantage of.
We already know that ISIS has troops here in the United States, as well as in many European countries. The Paris attack was led and coordinated by ISIS terrorists, showing that ISIS has successfully infiltrated both France and Belgium.
It’s hard to say with surety how many other European countries have been infiltrated, but considering the massive swell of migration from Syria to Europe, chances are high that ISIS has cells in all of the European countries.
These terrorists have mostly gone underground, awaiting the right moment to strike. It is hard to say whether they will see the withdraw of Russia as that moment, but you can be sure that there are discussions ongoing at the highest levels of ISIS command, with the goal of determining whether this is their moment or not.
Our porous southern border has already been used on more than one occasion by ISIS; with ISIS soldiers having been caught crossing into McAllen, Texas. If ten were caught, then you can be sure that many more made it through. They are living amongst us, probably actively making plans and seeking opportunities which they can turn to their advantage.
Considering all this, it appears that the peace talks in Geneva are somewhat immaterial. Whether they succeed or fail may affect Assad, his government and the people of his country; but they will do nothing to stop or even slow the growth of the Islamic State. If anything, they will give ISIS a new opening for further attacks to gain more territory.
I see little hope in these talks; or rather, I see them as an irrelevancy. While the Russian bear may have accomplished its goals, those goals don’t fit with the needs of the world. Perhaps, that is part of Putin’s plans as well.
We must remember that Putin has rekindled Russian imperialism, along with the desire to conquer new lands and bring them under the sway of Moscow. He is smart enough and has enough
foresight to know that letting the fight continue with ISIS, while not taking any part, weakens his opposition, putting him and his country in a better position to ultimately come out on top. His actions to date have shown that he is not as concerned with helping the world, as he is in helping his own country achieve her goals.
In this, Putin’s strength and Obama’s weakness on the world stage give the Russian leader a distinct advantage. He is able to manipulate the circumstances, knowing that he can count on Obama for a lot of noise, but little else.
Strictly strategically speaking, this withdrawal could put him in a position where the world is not clamoring for American intervention, but Russian intervention. Should that happen, he will have gained something that none of his predecessors were able to accomplish, a position of leadership in the world, which is second to none.
Too bad we don’t have a true leader in the White House, who could take advantage of this situation, instead of using the military as his personal social experiment. If there was ever a time in the last 50 years when we needed a strong military, ready to deploy and defeat our country’s enemies, it is now. But we can no longer count on that happening; not while Obama is in office.

03/07/2016 Washington, D.C. (International Christian Concern) – The world is in shock as militant gunmen stormed a Catholic nun-operated retirement home in Aden, Yemen. Officials said the attackers moved room to room handcuffing the victims before finally shooting 16 staff members in the head.
The home was created as a charity by Mother Theresa and is run by nuns who dedicated their lives to continuing her work throughout the war-torn region. In addition to those killed, an Indian priest was kidnapped in the attack, and his status remains unknown. The murdered caregiving nuns had chosen to work at the retirement home in Yemen rather than return home to safety when they had the opportunity. In addition to those four nuns, the other victims were “four local nurses, four security guards, and three cleaning staff,” according to medical sources.
The members of the charity and those in the surrounding communities remain “absolutely stunned” by the brutal attack against a charitable organization that served the elderly of all faiths. Pope Francis called the nuns modern-day martyrs who gave their blood for Christ’s work. He went on to explain that, before deciding to remain in Yemen to work at the retirement home, the Sisters had been part of a project to care for refugees and help them in their transition to Rome or other areas in Europe.
The four nuns were from Rwanda, India, and Kenya, but had dedicated their lives to following in the footsteps of Mother Theresa and remaining in the “wilderness” to serve people. The attackers escaped after the massacre and have yet to be found. The Vatican released an official statement regarding the murders of the Sisters as Pope Francis called the attack “diabolical.”
Yemen has seen terrible bloodshed over the past few years following the Saudi attacks against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels (linked to Hezbollah), who overturned the Yemeni government. Al-Qaeda fighters have also entered Yemen to counter the Shia-Houthi influence in the area. The gunmen have not been captured yet, but Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (known as Ansar al-Sharia) released a statement assuring the world that they are not responsible for the attack. Many are blaming the Islamic State of Syria and the Levant (ISIL) for the brutal attack, but those reports have yet to be confirmed.
Emma Lane, ICC’s Regional Manager for the Middle East, said: “This act was so horrendous, that even the most dangerous branch of Al-Qaeda, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, felt the need to release an official press statement denying they had anything to do with such a terrible act. AQAP ensured the media know they would have nothing to do with the brutal murders of nuns and charitable workers at a retirement home founded by Mother Theresa.”
In today’s world there are a number of reasons why a building can collapse. An act of terrorism, a leaky gas main, earthquake, flooding, landslides/mudslide, hurricanes, tornadoes, or an avalanche can cause even a brand new, sound building to collapse.
Regardless of why the building collapsed, there are certain ways to survive and to escape the building.
One of the most important things you must have is an emergency plan that covers the collapse of your home or where you work. This plan should cover what to do if there is a partial or a full collapse of your home or workplace.
If you live in a high risk area where buildings have been known to collapse, it is also to your advantage to do drills at least twice a year. The drills should cover finding an easy way out as well as scenarios in which you are totally cut off and there is no escape.
Basic Contents of Your Emergency Survival Kit
In the event of building structural damage, taking care of your family at a time where food, clean water, health care, and modern amenities are in short supply is a high priority. There should be enough supplies to feed everyone in your family for a minimum of 72 hours. Hopefully this will allow time for the authorities to organize disaster relief efforts.
These supplies should be kept in airtight/watertight containers of about a 5 gallon capacity. This makes them easier to use while you are trapped, and also while taking them along during your escape and on the journey to a safe location.
- Water – At least 1 gallon per person per day.
- Non perishable food – Canned or dried fruits, vegetables, and meats.
- Portable Radio – With AM/FM and Weather bands.
- Cell phone.
- Flashlight with extra batteries.
- First aid kit.
- Waterproof matches and emergency fire starters.
- Emergency poncho with hood for each family member.
- 1 dozen light sticks
- 1 pair work gloves for each member of the family.
- 1 utility knife
- Swiss Army Style knife.
- Can openers.
- Emergency blankets.
- Plates, pots, pans, and collapsible drinking cups.
- Enough water purification tablets and filter straws to get you through the disaster.
- Health, sanitation, and hygiene supplies.
- Fire extinguisher.
- Camp stove to cook outdoors.
- Paracord, tarps, and duct tape.
- Important phone numbers and Cash.
- Have extra clothing and shoes for each member of the family.
- Be sure to have any needed special medicines or other medical supplies for any members of your family.
As in all emergency situations, do not forget your pets. They have to eat and drink too. The following is a list of things to bring in waterproof, 5 gallon buckets:
- Dry food and canned food for your cats or dogs.
- Any medicines or vitamins that they take daily.
- Enough water for your pets to drink and a collapsible water bowl.
Office Emergency Kits
Depending on the number of employees in your work area, there should be enough supplies to meet their needs. Office emergency kits usually contain the same supplies that you would have in your family kits.
- Office emergency kits should have approximately 72 hours of food, water, and filtration supplies.
- The supplies should have at least a five year shelf life.
Personal Survival Kit
If you live in an area that avalanches, landslides, earthquakes or other acts of nature, they can totally wipe out a town, leaving nothing but collapsed buildings in its path. Aside from a larger emergency kit, it is wise for you to have a personal survival kit that you can keep with you at all times. For men this survival kit should be kept in a small belt pouch. Ladies can carry this complete urban survival kit in their purse. The following is a list of the minimum items that your kit should contain.
- Small LED flashlight to see in the dark.
- Fingernail clippers.
- Classic Swiss Army pocket knife.
- A small compass and an area map.
- Plastic tube tent for shelter
In a metal credit card holder keep:
- A magnesium fire starter.
- Char cloth.
- A small signal mirror.
How to Escape a Collapsed Building With Dig Out Tools
If this was an older building the air quality could be dangerous because of lead paint dust and asbestos particles in the air. Another problem would be metal ripped and torn apart leaving sharp edges that could be lethal. Open electrical circuits that are exposed in the debris are also very dangerous and can kill people and animals that come into contact with live electrical wires.
To make matters worse, broken water pipes and sewer pipes can cause flooding and expose you to any number of dangerous diseases. You might have survived the initial collapse, but the above-stated dangers could kill you or critically injured you before help could arrive.
With this in mind, it is imperative that you have an emergency rescue tool kit on-premises. Home owners and businesses should have a dig out tool set that can be used to help trapped individuals escape from a collapsed building. If you are trapped in a collapsed building, digging out from the rubble and breaking through to safety will be very important. The following tools are a minimum of what you should have:
- Several sets of heavy work gloves, and goggles for eye protection.
- A standard crowbar that can be used for general prying and leveraging. Remember the longer the bar the better the leverage. The crow bar should have a hook on it that can be used to pull materials out of the way that might be otherwise not safe to handle with a gloved hand.
- A small sledge hammer or heavy framing hammer. These hammers can knock metal or wood studs out of the way as well as open locked doors if encountered. For safety sake, you need to be wearing heavy gloves and safety goggles. Most importantly you must have adequate space to swing these tools. Remember, use the weight of a tool and do not muscle it. These hammers, like axes and hatchets, required discipline to use. It is almost impossible to redirect them if swung in a path in line with your body. When used incorrectly, they can be as dangerous as the situation itself.
- 18 inch bolt cutter and other heavy duty wire cutters. They should be insulated from electrical shock, be sharpened, and have handles as long as possible to fit into your emergency tool kit. These tools would be very helpful in cutting through all types wire messes that might be obstructing and blocking your escape route.
- A good hacksaw or a multi-purpose blade can cut through objects such as sheet metal, heating duct work or aluminum siding. Also have extra blades for the hacksaw or multi- purpose saw. These saws can cut through objects more effectively than heavy duty snips. They all leave behind clean cuts, which limits the risk of lacerations if re-entry or repeated trips are necessary.
- An ax with a non-conducting handle. If a hole is needed in a flat surface this ax should be used. Punching through a sheet of plywood or through a roof is easier when a cutting edge creates the initial hole to saw through. Warning! Be careful when penetrating any wall, ceiling, or floor, as conditions on the other side may be more dangerous than those on your side. Remember to look, listen, and feel before breaching any wall with an ax.
- A headlamp allows you hands-free use of a light source. If there is a gas leakage problem, it would be to your advantage to have a head lamp or a flashlight with non-exploding bulbs, or one that is rated for the mining industry. Also don’t forget extra batteries and bulbs for your portable light systems.
- There should also be a set of screwdrivers that could be used for disassembling objects and getting them out of the way.
What To Do If the Building Begins To Collapse
In most cases there will be little or no warning that a collapse is imminent. The most important thing is for you to stay calm and to get out of the building as quickly as possible. Do not hesitate to go out of a open door or window if that is your nearest exit.
If you are in a building with an elevator, do not use the elevator, because the elevator is a death trap! If the building were to collapse, the elevator could jump off its pulley system or snap the elevator cables. Either way the elevator would free fall to the bottom of the elevator pit, most likely to your death.
If the elevator was to get stuck in the elevator shaft, you and anyone else would be stuck in the shaft with a building falling down around you. The elevator may stay at the level at which it is stuck until rescue operations can reach you or the elevator shaft may collapse like they did in the World Trade Center.
You will be much safer and possibly live longer using the stairs. The sad thing about the World Trade Center collapses, was the employees and visitors were conditioned to take the elevators not the stairs. These people did it every day and never thought to use the stairs in an emergency. In this emergency, if more people had not panicked and used the stairs, even from the higher levels, more people could have survived. Instead, during the cleanup operations, the elevators were found packed with human remains.
If You Cannot Get Out
Step 1: You must assess the situation and remain calm
Usually disasters occur very quickly and it’s imperative that you act as quickly as possible. You could be stunned, disoriented, or full of adrenaline. Most people are frozen by fear and begin to act irrationally. Take a second and assess the situation. You may only have a few seconds for escape, and making the wrong move in a crisis could be your last. Check to see where the nearest stairwell is and try to use that to get out as fast as possible.
Remaining calm throughout the building collapse is easier said than done. Conserve Your energy and use it only when you hear a rescue party is near. One of the biggest mistakes that people do is to scream and shout for hours only to quickly become exhausted. Not only does this raise your heart rate and breathing, but you will be inhaling more toxic fumes, dust particles, and other micro debris that can quickly have a negative effect on your lungs and airways.
Step 2: The Proper Way to Take Cover
For many years the best way to save your life in a collapsing building was the use the old “duck and cover”. In this life saving system an individual will get under a heavy item like tables, beds, furniture, and mattresses. The idea was that falling debris would fall off the furniture and land on the floor. The truth is that during the collapse of the building, the ceiling or the walls would come straight down crushing the people who are hiding under these items to death.
If you cannot get out, look around for a sturdy piece of furniture that will not compact if something lands on it. Some good furniture types include a heavy desk, sofa, or large overstuffed armchair. For safety sake, do not get under any of these. Rather, position yourself next to them (this area is known as the triangle of life), lying on the floor in the fetal position.
The less the object compacts, the larger the void, and the greater the probability that the person who is using the void for safety will not be injured. This is also a spot where it is unlikely that debris will strike you. The furniture will be able to support a collapsing wall or ceiling and create a space adjacent to it where you will be relatively safe. You may get injured, but the chances are that you will come out of the wreckage alive.
Fire in the building
In most disasters, fire can quickly break out and spread throughout the building. Smoke inhalation can slow you down if not kill you. Remember you may only have a limited amount of time before the fire spreads and cuts off any remaining exit options you have.
Stay low to the ground and avoid smoke inhalation at all costs. Wet a cloth or your shirt to cover your nose and mouth. This will help filter some of the smoke. Plastic moldings and metal fumes are often released into the air during a fire, they are extremely toxic and must be avoided as much as possible.
Things to do before opening doors.
Sometimes people accidentally assist the spread of the fire because they open doors when trying to escape. Always use the back of your hand to touch the door to see if it’s giving off heat. Touch the top, middle, and the bottom of the door, as the fire could be on the ceiling or the floor. If the door is hot avoid opening it, or you may cause a backdraft that will only accelerate the spread of the fire.
Always check stairwells.
If you find yourself trapped because a fire is below you, or you have no other exit, check the stairwell first. Find out if there is any smoke billowing in the stairwell or if something is blocking off the smoke from entering through the cracks in the door.
Most stairwells in modern buildings are fireproof and can improve your odds of survival. Fire rescue teams will also be able to reach you faster than if you were in random rooms in the building. If there are large amounts of smoke in the stairwell you will need to avoid the stairwell or risk dying from smoke inhalation.
What to do if you are stuck under debris.
After the building has stopped collapsing, you may find yourself stuck under an object or trapped under a pile of the debris. Your main goal should be attracting rescue workers and dogs to your location so they can help get you out.
Use a flashlight, or a cell phone to signal rescuers.
In the dark environment of a collapsed building rescue workers will be trying to pick up on flickers of light or anything out of the ordinary. If you can reach your cell phone or flashlight you can create a signal to help speed up your rescue. Light can travel a long way and can be seen quite easily especially by dogs or robotic cameras.
Avoid making noise
Loud noises such as from a high pitch whistle or air horn can cause the building to start collapsing again. Use sound with caution, and try to use light for signaling whenever possible to avoid this problem.
That being said, if you must, then tap (try not to bang) on pipes or the floor. Rescuers and rescue dogs are trained to listen for any sound. Tapping on a large pipe will result in an echo moving throughout the pipe. This means that even if you are trapped well below the surface rescuers can hear the beat on the pipe and figure out how to get you out. Rescue dogs use their sense of smell, but also their sense of hearing to pick up on the subtle clues. So if you possibly can move your fingers or tap on the walls or pipes you can improve your odds of being found.
You must avoid unnecessary movement at all costs.
If you know you are stuck under a large object or under a pile of the debris, you should try to avoid any unnecessary movement. If you need to move for any reason, try to keep your movements slow and steady. Do not under any circumstances make fast jerky movements or you could possibly bring down large amount of debris, which could worsen injuries or even kill you.
Be careful of what you breath in the collapsed building.
There will be likely quite a bit of dust from the collapse of the building. To protect you from the toxic dust and sharp debris, cover your mouth eyes and nose with a handkerchief or some of your clothing. It is very important to stay as still as possible to keep from stirring up more dust. If you breath in such debris, you may risk an internal infection or other breathing complications.
Here Are Tips For Earthquake and Other Causes of Building Collapse Survival
- Wooden buildings are the safest type of construction to be in during an earthquake or other building collapse because wood is flexible and moves with the force causing the collapse in the first place. If a wooden building does collapse, large survival voids are created. Also, wooden buildings have less concentrated crushing weight.
- Brick buildings will break into individual bricks. Bricks will cause many injuries but less squashed bodies than concrete slabs.
- If you are in bed when a building begins to collapse, simply roll off the bed (but do not go under it). A safe void will exist around the bed.
- Do not linger under a doorway. If you stand under a doorway and the doorjamb falls forward or backwards, you will be crushed by the ceiling above.
- Get near the outer walls of the building or outside of them if possible. It is much better to be near the outside of the building rather than the interior. The farther inside you are from the outside perimeter of the building, the greater the probability that your escape route will be blocked.
- People inside of their vehicles are crushed when the road above falls and crushes their vehicles. This is what exactly happened with the slabs between the decks of the Nimitz freeway. These victims of the San Francisco earthquake all stayed inside of their vehicles and they were all killed. These victims could have easily survived by getting out and sitting or lying next to their vehicles. All of the crushed cars had a void of 3 feet high next to them, except for the cars that had the columns fall directly across them.
- If you work inside of a newspaper office or other offices with a lot of paper, remember that paper does not compact. As weak as paper may seem, it can make a safe place for you to take shelter behind.
Don’t to panic! In those cases where people panic, there is a greater loss of life and more people injured than if they had kept a cool head and thought things out.
Remember after the building has settled, rescue workers will begin to search what is left of the collapsed building or buildings in the hope of finding survivors. If you make and follow a survival plan, your chances of surviving the incident will be greatly increased.

A lot of Americans are concerned that our nation’s porous southern border with Mexico represents security major security risk. It could serve as a conduit for Islamic radicals to infiltrate the US and carry out attacks. What is less known and rarely talked about is the situation on the northern border with Canada. Now many […]
The massive influx of supposed “refugees” into Europe is having a number of unexpected consequences. Perhaps the liberal politicians who agreed to their invasion were thinking these refugees would be like others, act like others and be grateful like others. But what they’ve gotten is far from what anyone could have expected.
Not only is it clear that terrorists have infiltrated the ranks of the “refugees,” as proven by the Paris terrorist attack, but it’s also clear that the rest of the “military age men” who make up the majority of the influx are determined to change Europe into what they want it to be.
On New Year’s Eve, about 1,000 of these men gathered together at the central train station in Cologne, Germany (there’s also a Cologne, France, but this happened in German) to give a special present to the women of the city. As the women passed, they were groped and sexually assaulted by the immigrant men. Some were robbed, under the covering of the distraction caused by the groping. A few were even raped.
This didn’t just happen in Cologne, but in Hamburg and other cities as well. But Cologne was the epicenter, with more than 800 women molested by these Muslim men. Many of the attackers were drunk, ignoring their religion’s probation of alcohol in favor of enjoying themselves.
We can’t even say that this is an isolated event, as I hear daily of new rapes and gang rapes happening throughout Europe. While rape has always existed and will probably exist until the end of time, what is happening now has not happened on this scale since the wars of the Middle Ages. While rape has always followed war, this is something new; using rape as a tool of war.
One More Insult to Injury
Sweden has become the rape capital of Europe and perhaps of the world, if we leave out the lands controlled by ISIS. The Muslim immigrants apparently feel they have a right to any woman who they see. This matches the teachings of their Imams and the Quran, which states that all lust is caused by women, it is not in the heart of the man. Therefore, the women are the ones who cause it.
The Imam of Cologne has even come out and said this, declaring that the sexual abuse and rape were the fault of the women, “walking around half-naked and wearing perfume.” He literally said that they should have expected it. But then, we have to realize that to these Muslim men, seeing a woman’s ankles makes her half-naked in his eyes. When all they ever saw in their homelands were women hidden by black cloth sacks, it’s no wonder that the sight of real women would excite them.
Now, I’ve got to say that modern styles for women’s clothing isn’t exactly modest. But that’s not the issue. If those women had been wearing floor length dresses, with long sleeves and high necks, it would still have been more than they could stand. Simply having a dress that actually fit and showed that the woman’s body had curves would have driven those men mad, especially in their drunken state. But such is Islam, that they blame the women for the faults of the men. That means that as long as there are Muslim immigrants, the chances of rape will be high.
A video has recently come out in which a female Muslim college professor explains that rape of non-Muslim women is acceptable in the Islamic religion. It is to be used as a means of humiliating the women, with the ultimate goal of forcing them to convert to Islam. There’s even a reference to her being converted by the sexual act. Her specific statements refer to raping women captured in war, but the invasion of Europe is a war in Muslim eyes.
According to the Quran, Muslims aren’t allowed to immigrate to infidel lands and put themselves under the authority of infidels or their laws, that is sin to them. When they go to other lands, and they are commanded in the Quran to do so, they are to go there and take the position of being the heads, over the people of the land. They are to take over the lands and subjugate them to Sharia Law.
This is called hijrah, and it is as old as Islam itself. The first hijrah was when Mohammad himself left Mecca to go to Medina. He and his followers went there for the purpose of conquest, to take the city over and force it to convert to Islam. This was the beginning of hijrah as a means of jihad and Muslims have been used ever since to conquer new lands and expand their territory.
Petting the Trojan Horse
The Trojan Horse of the Syrian refugee crisis isn’t just the terrorists who are hidden in their ranks, but each and every one of the Muslims who are emigrating. It doesn’t matter if they are radical Muslims or not, nor does it matter if they are terrorists. They are all committed to the spread of Islam and they are using this as an excuse to send millions of people into the western world for the purpose of conquest.
That may seem ridiculous to you, stating that such a small group could conquer a nation, but you have to understand their tactics. They have already taken over areas of several European countries, making them into “no-go zones.” Those areas are totally under Muslim control and governed by Sharia Law. The police and the duly elected government has no power and no say. They have effectively been kicked out and the area has effectively been conquered.
That’s been done with relatively few people, mere thousands. What will happen when there are millions? How will those governments stand against Muslim pressure, when the Muslims know exactly what buttons to push, in order to get things their way?
Muslims are winning the propaganda war. They are using our laws and our sensibilities against us. A mere 15 years after 9-11, they’ve managed to paint themselves as the most misunderstood and most persecuted minority in the world, with the greatest amount of prejudice against them. That’s a load of crap. Muslims account for 23% percent of the world’s population, 1.6 billion people. They are far from a minority.
Yet Islam is a hungry master. The Quran commands them to take over the world and they are going to do everything they can to do so. Those whom we call “moderate Muslims” are the ones who will do it. The radicals, who become terrorists, don’t take over the world. They just threaten the world so that we’ll be quiet while we’re being raped. It’s the moderates who take over cities, make no-go zones and demand that laws and customs be changed to accommodate them.
Video first seen on Politically Incorrect
The rape that is going on in Europe isn’t going to stop. About the only thing that can save Europe right now is for the people to rise up in arms and throw the Muslims out. But they aren’t allowed to do that. In most European countries, it’s illegal to own firearms. That doesn’t stop the Muslims or the criminals, but it does stop the law-abiding citizens of those countries from defending themselves.
Yet, they are trying. German men have turned out in droves and organized to protect their women. How did the government accept that? They sent 1,500 police to the rally where the men were organizing. There were only 150 in the vicinity of the train station on New Year’s Eve, and they didn’t do a thing to stop the sexual molestation, but they sent 1,500 to a protest against that attack. What does that tell you?
These sorts of attacks are going to increase. While they are mostly in Europe right now, we can soon expect to see them here on our side of the pond. As Obama allows more and more of these animals into our country, we must keep in mind that they have not come as refugees, they have not come as immigrants, they have come as a conquering army and as far as they are concerned, they’ve already won the war and our women are the spoils of that war.
This is what we can expect to face. As unpopular as Trump’s declaration about closing the doors to Muslim immigrants has been, it’s the only real answer. Something has to be done to determine if these people are going to assimilate into society or not; and those who won’t, have to be kept out of the country. Otherwise, they will take over.
Of course, there is one other option… that of civil war. It may come to that. But if it does, it will have to be because the Muslims start it. If we, the American people, start killing Muslims out of hand, we will be giving up the high ground and become something we are not.
Yes, we can defend ourselves and our loved ones. Yes, we can defend our women. But no, we can’t kill indiscriminately in that process. We don’t allow our soldiers to do that in war, and we can’t allow ourselves to do so in this war.

The following is information a friend put together using materials from the Terrorism Awareness Module that is used in Cert (Civilian Emergency Response) Training. These guidelines can help us spot possible terrorist attacks and keep our families and others safe. I remember that when we did searches of building, the most helpful people were the janitors and maintenance people; they knew what belonged and what didn’t. The same thing applies to areas you are familiar with; you know what is out of place or is doesn’t belong. If you see something strange, don’t be afraid to report it. You may prevent a terrorist attack.
Threat Awareness and Personal Protective Measures
For the Civilian Population In The Event of Terrorism
SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
CALL 911 – IF YOU SEE:
- Purchase, or attempted illegal access to facility blue prints
- Rental trucks with hazardous cargo placards parked in non-industrial settings or moving outside usual trucking routes.
- Any truck left unattended and where the driver cannot be located.
- Any unattended passenger vehicle or van with apparent heavy load
- Theft of explosives, blasting caps or fuses, propane tanks, rental of self-storage space
- Delivery of chemicals directly to a storage facility
- Rental, theft or purchase of a truck or van having large carrying capacity
- Modification of a truck or van for carrying heavier loads…
- Unusual electrical components, wires or batteries which appear out of place
- Unusual plastic tubing, bottles, aerosol containers, gas cylinders, particularly if near HVAC return air intake.
- Any pipe with end caps in place. Any vehicles parked in unusual locations.
- Walk-in patients with chemical burns, or anyone with untreated chemical burns
- ER patients with recent traumatic amputation of fingers or hands
Suspicious Package PRIMARY INDICATORS:
- Things that do not belong to anyone present: Packages, bags, briefcases, luggage
- Delivered by unknown service / person
- Unusual location, not normal, out of place
- Just “appears”, item neither expected nor requested, listed sender did not mail or ship
- Postmark doesn’t match return address, any parcel not delivered by a usual method
- Hand-written labels, Poor penmanship, misspellings, Excessive tape, protrusions
- Merely “looks odd,” trust your intuition! Too much postage, particularly stamps
- Stiff or thick envelope over 1/4” or 2 ounces. Handle note or envelope as little as possible to preserve evidence.
- “Bulging” or misshapen containers, capped containers with muddy liquid, or textile wick
- Releasing vapors, odors, “hissing” ! If suspicious item leaks liquid / powder call 911!
- Treat as chemical-biological-radiological threat, If package or box, isolate, evacuate the area.
WMDs are hazardous materials:
B-NICE = Biological, Nuclear, Incendiary, Chemical, Explosive
Important indicators and clues:
- Small explosions, Presence of spray devices,
- Dead insects, birds, animals,
- Similar symptoms appearing in many individuals.
IMMEDIATELY upon hearing any EXPLOSION,
Accompanied by fire, smoke or unusual odors, unusual colored smoke
- Don’t touch anything, EVACUATE!
- Warn others to get away and stay away
- ASSIST others to EVACUATE the area, in an orderly manner.
IF you have an EXTINGUISHER and are TRAINED to use it,
Fight a SMALL, EARLY STAGE FIRE, ONLY IF:
- The fire is SMALL and CONTAINED (NOT spreading)
- EXIT IS CLEAR, and there is no imminent peril
- You can you fight fire with your back to an exit!
- You can stay low and avoid smoke
- Use “Buddy System” – have someone back you up!
- 911 has been called and building evacuation is underway
Get far AWAY, UPHILL, UPWIND
TIME – DISTANCE – SHIELDING
- Minimize the TIME exposed to the threat
- Put DISTANCE between you and the threat
- SHIELDING, means BULLET AND BLAST PROOF SUBSTANTIAL BARRIERS!
Use terrain features or solid objects as shielding, below grade depressions in terrain, curb and gutter, drainage ditches. If evacuating INSIDE a structure go to farthermost lateral point at least several floors below the device.
You want between you and the threat minimum of 8 inches of solid masonry, concrete, stone walls, structural steel pillars. Face down behind cover, protect head with arms covering ears, mouth open.
Plaster walls, furniture or automobiles are concealment only and are not bullet proof /blast proof.
Avoid building evacuation assembly areas within 300 ft. of building near windows, or any overhead glass.
Get at least 300 ft. away or two vertical floors below from hand carried devices if you have shielding, 1000 ft. minimum for a backpack or suitcase sized device in the open. If any vehicle bomb is suspected don’t stop at 1000 ft. get “as far away as possible.” Avoid areas with flammable / hazardous materials storage.
Only then perform SIZE UP and REPORT as you can from a safe distance.
- REPORT the incident to 911 by landline, if possible!
- WRITE down location, time, license plate numbers, descriptions of any observations while your memory is fresh
- DO NOT use cell phone or 2-way radio as may trigger secondary device, if present.
What to tell the 911 Operator?
- LOCATION FIRST! Where are you now?
- Where did it happen?
- What happened (best as you can determine)
- Number and types of known injuries
- What is happening now?
- Who you are, and how you can be reached to give your statement to investigators
- INFORM call taker where you are, how to reach you. Follow all instructions of public safety personnel
What if you are contaminated?
Use basic decontamination procedures:
- Remove everything, including jewelry
- Cut off clothing normally removed over the head
- Wash your hands before using them to shower
- Flush entire body with cool water
- Blot dry with absorbent cloth
- Put on clean clothes
- Report to responders for thorough decontamination, medical assessment and treatment.

It’s no secret that preppers don’t trust the government. And it’s not just because we think they’re up to some nefarious shenanigans. We also know that the government is often inept, and can’t be trusted to take care of us in an emergency. Many of us wouldn’t be preppers in the first place if this weren’t true.
However, you have to give credit where credit is due, and for once, it seems like the government deserves a little recognition. The Pentagon has just revealed their plan for dealing with cyber attacks that might take down our nation’s power grid. At first glance it appears to be pretty solid, and I give them kudos for at least trying to shore up a serious risk. As you’ll see however, this plan has a few holes in it.
Their plan, which has been dubbed the Rapid Attack Detection, Isolation, and Characterization (RADICS), involves a sophisticated automated system that would help mitigated the risk of an attack, or at least stifle its damaging effects. The Pentagon hopes that even with a worse case scenario they would be able to bring the grid back online within 7 days (assuming the attack is only digital in nature).
One of the aims of RADICS is to develop detection systems with high sensitivity and low false positive rates, by studying exactly how power grid’s dynamics.
RADICS also calls for the design of a secure emergency network that could connect power suppliers in the moments after an attack.
‘Isolating affected utilities from the internet would enable recovery efforts to proceed without adversary surveillance and interference,’ Everett said.
‘Providing an alternative means for online coordination would enable a more orderly restoration of power among affected organisations.’
Finally, the RADICS will research systems that can localise and characterise malicious software.
The plan sure sounds slick. However, it doesn’t really give us much more safety than we had before, and here’s why:
While the internet has probably made our power system more efficient, it has also made it far more vulnerable to disruption. We’ve essentially traded resilience for efficiency. And unfortunately, this RADICS plan is merely a bandaid on top of a very substantial vulnerability. A vulnerability that has already been exploited. Take a look at this interview CBS did with their former anchor Ted Koppel, who recently finished an extensive investigation into our power grid.
“It’s frightening,” Koppel said. “I mean, it is frightening enough that my wife and I decided we were going to buy enough freeze-dried food for all of our kids and their kids.”
“Who are the potential perpetrators here?” Reid asked. “Who do we have to fear the most? Is it Russia? China? Iran? Terrorists? Individual actors?”
“All those. The interesting thing, Chip, is the ones who are most capable are the ones least likely to do it.
“There are some experts who say they’re already in.”
“Well, they are in. There’s no question about it. They are already in the grid. I was told that by the former Chief Scientist of NSA, he stated categorically the Russians are in, the Chinese are in. The Iranians may be on the verge of getting in. And then at the bottom of the capability scale are folks like ISIS, terrorist groups.”
So nations like Russia and China have already infiltrated our grid, and presumably, could take it down whenever they like without any physical force. We’ve reacted to that threat by creating another automated, interconnected system that could theoretically insulate us from any attack. In other words, we’re protecting one hackable system with another hackable system.
What their new plan really amounts to, is a new step in a digital arms race between the US and other world powers. This is a race which we will either win or lose, and we’ve been losing it for a long time. Does the Pentagon really think that they’re going to turn it all around now?
A far better solution would be to decouple our power grid from the internet, which would help us avoid this existential threat entirely. It sounds crazy, but there’s actually a small percentage of rural power grids that still aren’t plugged in, so to speak. And in any case, the grid worked quite well for a long time before the internet ever took root.
Surely the government will say that this new system is more secure. However, that’s like saying the Titanic is unsinkable. All digital systems are capable of being hacked, without exception. The Pentagon thinks they have a silver bullet solution, but at the end of the day we have the same choice we’ve always had since the proliferation of the internet.
On the one hand, we could have a resilient system with less efficiency. On the other hand, we can engage in a digital arms race with the world’s superpowers, which we may or may not win. Taking that option amounts to flipping a coin to see whose civilization will be completely obliterated without a single shot being fired, if war should occur. The safest option is to stick with resilience, with all its faults, and not flip that coin in the first place.

Don’t Be Too Prepared – Keeping Your Preparations Secret By Richard Bogath The news of yet another psychopath or psychopaths mowing down yet another crowd of soft targets is teetering on the razor-thin line of complacent; “Oh, another one? Where this time?” As with all things, in time, what was once horrific, outrageous, unthinkable and […]
Evidence is mounting that there is a possible terrorist cell operating in the Columbia, Missouri area. Over the past several days local Walmarts have reported having multiple incidents where men are purchasing large quantities of prepaid cell phones and paying with cash. These “throw aways” are often used by terrorists and criminals for communication purposes due to the lack of traceability to the buyer and the difficulty for law enforcement to conduct surveillance.
So, what is exactly happened thus far?
At least five cities so far have been included – Ava, Lebanon, Columbia, Jefferson City, and Macon. In all cases individuals are coming in and purchasing upwards of 100 cell phones and paying with cash. In at least one event the men were “foreign speaking“. Due to this being highly unusual purchase the stores called police. Law enforcement in at least one case was able to talk a man making the purchase and let him go as he had not broken the law.
The FBI is currently investigating at least three of these cases.
In addition to large purchases of cell phones explosives were found buried along an off road trial in Waynesville, Mo. by a deer hunter back in October. These explosives were within 2 hours of Columbia and 30 minutes of Lebanon. The explosives were investigated and the official word is that they had no connection to terrorism.
In my world 2 + 2 = 4 every day of the week. Is it possible it only looks like a 2 and it is really 1 or 3? Sure – it can happen.
In late November a BP gas station and a CVS reported having more than 40 propane tanks stolen. These events occurred approx 2 hours west of Columbia.
Be vigilant folks. Also be aware for yourself. Although I commend these WalMarts for being aware of the possible situation I would be pretty upset if I was detained for a few hours for purchasing a couple thousand rounds of ammunition because some employee thought it was suspicious for buying too much.

Lets say that your instinct (your ‘gut’, your ‘spidey’ senses) are warning your inner self of a potentially imminent terrorist attack… …maybe there has been an unusually high number of reported threats, or a recent incident (which may be ‘just the beginning’ of something bigger), or an upcoming event or holiday which could prove ‘ideal’ […]
This is not the first time I get to talk about guns, that’s true. Every time I’ve covered the subject I’ve tried to be as pragmatic as possible when it comes to the usage of firearms in a survival situation. I’m talking a different approach this time. Not that carrying a largest handguns caliber could not serve you well in a SHTF scenario; if it’s one thing they do well, is to obliterate everything that stands in your way. A single shot fired is more than enough to stop even large animals in their tracks. They might not be as easily concealable or maneuverable, but there’s something really intriguing (almost poetic) about owning your very own hand cannon. Maybe it has something to do with the “bigger is better” mentality, who knows? All I know is that there is no such thing as “too big” when it comes to firepower. And I’m sure that many of you share the same exact belief. Let’s have a look at some of the best of the best in the field of “heavy artillery”.
The Desert Eagle .50 Caliber Handgun
The Desert Eagle .50 is one of the most notorious handguns in the world. Commonly known as “the 50 caliber”, it was developed by the Israeli military with the aid of Magnum Research in 1972. It’s the largest magazine-fed handgun in the world and despite its age, this old timer is considered (still) to be one of the best looking handguns on the market; especially the versions that come in chrome or titanium gold plating. When it comes to firepower, only one word comes to mind: annihilation. The .50 projectile packs such a heavy punch that made it feared and respected across the map, and won fans from both sides of the law. It’s just as lethal as it is beautiful. It has a capacity of 7 rounds and it measures a total length of 10.75 inches (with a barrel length of 6 inches).
The Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum Revolver
This particular handgun was firstly introduced to the world by Clint Eastwood and his infamous character by the name of Dirty Harry. This revolver gained so much in popularity that Smith and Wesson was not only able to sell this particular model, but hat to release “improved” version to meet the demand. It’s not a large enough of a gun to cause your body spinning in the air several times before you hit the ground, as seen in the movies, but it’s powerful enough to end a life instantly. It’s 11.63 inches in total length (the barrel measures 6 inches) and it’s about 49ozs heavy. Not the most practical gun in the world, but nothing compares to shooting a .44 Magnum.
The Smith & Wesson’s 460XVR Revolver
You might look at this particular Smith and Wesson model and think “overkill”. When I look at it I see “beauty”. This handgun was introduced in 2005 and the XVR stands for “Extreme Velocity Revolver”. It shoots fairly well, especially at a distance bellow 125 yards; when this distance is exceeded, the trajectory of the projectile tends to get curbed, thus losing accuracy. It’s really noisy, so for those of you that do not enjoy the “music” made by the 460XVR, I recommend you bring along muffs or ear plugs. It has a capacity of 5 bullets, weighs about 75ozs and the barrel length comes in various sizes: 83/8 (standard), 35/8 inches, 6 inches, 7½ inches and 10½ inches. The finish is stainless, which makes it one of the most beautiful handguns in the world.
The WTS .50 BMG Pistol
This is a fully German product. And once again, when it comes to technology, Germany seems to push the barrier just a bit further. Although the WTS .50 BMG (the BMG stands for “Browning Machine gun Cartridge”) is technically a pistol, it weighs about 15.87lbs, which is as heavy as an ordinary riffle. Not to mention that the ammo in question, the .50 Browning Machinegun cartridge, was primarily used to pierce heavy armor and take down tanks and airplanes. Imagine how ridiculously power drunk you would feel to unleash all this power from a “pistol”. Shooting flesh with a WTS .50 BMG can make it disintegrate into thin air… literally! This monster measures 24.21 inches in length (16.92 inches in barrel length), it has an adjustable trigger mechanism and grip safety. Is it practical? Probably not. Is it glorious? Yes.
Getting a big handgun for survival purposes would not be practical for so many reasons that would take forever to explain. There are way better options for a TEOTWAWKI scenario, that’s true. There are lighter, faster and more maneuverable options on the market for preppers and survivalist. But nothing feels quite like shooting a powerful handgun, even if it’s just for target practice. It will be heavy to carry, almost impossible to conceal and the recoil and the noise might sometimes feel like it’s just too much. But if you’re ever in trouble, a big caliber handgun will do its job and stop anybody or anything that threatens your life.

I hate to say it, but mass shootings are becoming much more common than any of us would like. It doesn’t seem like there’s going to be any reduction in them either; especially with radical jihadists being allowed into the country by every means possible. The war is becoming real and it’s happening in our streets, in our office buildings and in our schools.
While each event is individual in its execution, the events surrounding them are becoming as predictable as a grade B movie. While not all are, Muslims predictably carry many of them out, although the administration and the media won’t admit it.
Many of them predictably happen in gun-free zones. The left predictably blames conservatives, especially the NRA, and Obama predictably calls for more gun control. The same story plays over and over again; while Obama and the PC police prevent the truth from coming out and the real issues from being dealt with.
The San Bernardino Shooting Follows the Script
The latest shooting on December 2nd, in San Bernardino follows the script, with its own special twists thrown in. I remember that I first heard about it through a Facebook posting on “breaking news” from one of the news outlets I follow.
At the time, which was less than an hour after the event happened, little was known. But that didn’t prevent liberal reporters from already jumping to conclusions. I must admit, I jumped to my own as well, thinking that the perpetrators were probably Muslims.
Any time an event like this happens, details are sketchy at the beginning. It takes time for the police to figure out what happened and for the true story to be told. That’s why liberals have to act so quickly. They have to get their version of the story embedded in the minds of the sheeple before the truth comes out. Otherwise, they won’t get to spin it the way they want.
So, along with that very first report I heard about how the mainstream media was saying that the event was carried out by right-wing extremists and blaming the NRA for blocking gun control measures. There were even a series of tweets following that same vein and castigating law-abiding citizens who supported the 2nd Amendment, just for opposing gun control.
Well, now that more time has passed, we have a better idea of what happened. The first bit of truth that came out was the name of one of the perpetrators. It turns out that he was Syed Farook, an American citizen, who traveled to Saudi Arabia to marry his wife, who he met online. He was apparently accompanied by his wife, as well as his brother. The husband and wife were killed, when they tried to fight it out with the police.
According to Sayd’s father, he was a devout Muslim, attested to by the fact that he traveled to Saudi Arabia to marry and has recently grown out his beard, as all devout Muslim men are supposed to. Co-workers knew he was a Muslim, but were surprised that he would take such action, believing him to be a “moderate” Muslim.
The attack was a Christmas party, being held in the offices of San Bernardino’s Public Health Department, where Sayd worked as a health inspector. Co-workers said he was quiet at the party and left early. But he didn’t stay away, returning with his accomplices to rain death and destruction on the party.
Sayd and his co-conspirators showed up well prepared for their grim task, wearing tactical clothing and sporting AR-15 rifles. The way they were equipped shows that this was not a spur-of-the-moment attack.
About the only thing that might have been spontaneous was the time and place. It would have taken time to gather the necessary equipment, especially the AR-15s, which are illegal for sale in California. Sayd and his accomplices had obviously been planning such an event.
The Gun Laws Didn’t Work
This one shooting shows the futility of the progressive liberal stance on gun control. California has already enacted everything on their “common sense” wish list, yet these killers were still able to get the weapons they wanted and carry out their murderous deed. Specifically, California has laws on the books for everything on the left’s gun-control “wish list.”
- Universal background checks
- Magazine limits
- Bans on standard “assault rifles”
Fourteen of Sayd’s co-workers died and another 17 are wounded, proving that those gun control measures don’t work. Yet the left doesn’t see it that way. They are still screaming out for those laws to be adopted nation-wide, regardless of their effectiveness.
You see, to the left, the law has little to do with reality. It’s all about doing something to make them feel good. If people are poor, pass laws giving them more freebees from the government. If pollution exists, create new regulations that reduce emissions. If people are getting killed enact more gun laws. It doesn’t matter if any of those laws actually do any good, they’ll feel better, because they’ve “done something” about the problem.
That’s why they villianize gun owners and the NRA. We stand in the way of them going through the motions of making themselves feel good. They don’t care about the dead; they just care about salving what little conscience they have. If that hurts others, they’ll just blame the conservatives.
As we all know, guns aren’t the problem. The very same day that the Sandy Hook shooting happened (if it really happened), a man in China entered a school and killed more children with a knife than were supposedly killed at Sandy Hook. People killed one another before guns existed and they will continue to kill one another long after guns have been replaced by something else.
A few days before this shooting, there was another, in which a mentally unstable, middle-aged white man killed a number of people. Since he hid out in a Planned Parenthood office and shot from there, the left has been talking about how he was a conservative terrorist, who was attacking Planned Parenthood. But he didn’t turn his gun on one single person in that Planned Parenthood office, he merely shot from there.
Even though that man had a history of mental illness, nobody is paying attention to that. Mental illness doesn’t match the narrative they want, so they won’t talk about it.
A few days before that, there was a mass shooting where a young black man wounded and injured several people. But that one doesn’t match the narrative either. So, while it was a serious shooting, the media isn’t bothering to cover it. Then there are the dozens of shootings that happen in Chicago every weekend, but those are mainly black-on-black crime, so they aren’t reported.
It is clear that the media is cherry-picking which shootings they will cover. They only talk about the ones that they can spin to fit their narrative. Each time, they salivate at the possibility that it really was a right-wing supremist nut job that did the shooting, so that they can justify themselves in blaming all gun violence on those of us on the right. But it just doesn’t happen.
As Texas Senator and Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz recently stated, violent crimes are mostly propagated by liberals, more specifically, by Democrats. They keep feeding the killing machine, creating gun-free zones, trying to take guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens and pampering the criminals.
Video first seen on Fox News
As crazy as it seems, these people actually think that taking guns out of the hands of the innocent is going to reduce crime. Oh, it might eliminate the occasional accidental shooting, I’ll give them that. It might even eliminate the tragic results of a drunken fight, when some fool goes into a bar with a gun (usually illegal, even if you have a concealed carry permit). But that’s not what I’m talking about. They actually think that taking guns out of the hands of the honest people will convince the criminals to give up theirs.
Senator Feinstein actually said that on the floor of the Senate. She said that once honest people give up their guns, criminals will do so as well, calling that “human nature.” Obviously, the Senator has no idea of what human nature really is. A lion won’t give up its teeth if the antelope give up their horns and a criminal won’t give up their guns if the rest of us give up ours.
Actually, I think what these liberals want is to repeal the physical laws that allow firearms to work. That’s about the only way that you’re going to get guns out of the hands of the criminals. But as Cain proved, about six thousand years ago, you don’t need a gun to kill your brother.
Murder is bound up in the heart of man, just like adultery, stealing, lying and anything else you can call evil. Unless and until we can get rid of that, we will need our guns. As long as there is a way for criminals to get their hands on guns, criminals will use them. No law will stop them, just like no law ever written has stopped them from committing any other crime.
Of course, if their true goal is to make us subservient, gun control makes sense. Likewise, if they are trying to help the jihadists, by taking away our ability to defend ourselves. In that regard, gun control can be seen as treason, as it truly aids and abets our enemies, allowing them to conquer the American culture and force us to convert to Islam.
I think I’ll keep mine, no matter what they say.

By Richard Bogath You don’t need me to tell you how tragic the recent terrorist events have been. By now, respectfully, you’re probably even sick of hearing about it. As most of the huddled masses clench their fists in anger, swearing acts of vengeance and pounding their chests in defiance of terrorism—most are also pretty […]
Brevard County, Florida, Sheriff Wayne Ivey has a surprising response to the threat of terrorism and mass shootings. The veteran law enforcement officer thinks that Americans should arm themselves to protect their communities.
“It is a known fact that the best law enforcement agencies in the country have response times in minutes, yet violent criminals can take our lives in seconds,” Ivey said in a video posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook page. “Law enforcement officers in San Bernardino arrived on scene approximately four minutes after the incident was first reported. Even with that incredible response time, they arrived too late, to find too many dead or critically wounded.
Ivey added, “If you’re a person who is legally licensed to carry a firearm, now is the time more than ever to realize that you and you alone may only be the first line of defense for you, your family and others around you in a terrorist or active shooter-based scenario.”
“This is much deeper about being able to defend an attack by armed and evil people until the cavalry can arrive,” Ivey said. “Evil people look to take advantage of weakness, but one good person at the right place and time will make the difference.”
Sheriff Ivey’s Warnings
If a mass shooting can take place in places as diverse as South Carolina and California, it can happen anywhere, Ivey said.
“Now, more than ever before” he said, “is the time for law enforcement and our citizens to be fully prepared for an attack or an active shooter scenario with the right tools to eliminate or disrupt the attack. It is time to stop reacting — and instead — proactively engage anyone who threatens harm through terrorism or mass killings.”
Story continues below video
Ivey was not encouraging vigilantism; instead, he made a number of important points he said citizens should pay attention to, including:
- Everyone needs to know what to do in such a situation.
- Citizens with concealed carry permits should be ready to defend themselves and others.
- People with concealed carry permits should take a self-defense tactical shooting course. Ivey’s office is offering such a course.
- Persons who do not want to carry guns should be prepared to hide, run and fight back if necessary.
Ivey has been a law enforcement officer for more than three decades and is a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy. Before his election as Brevard County sheriff, Ivey served as a resident agent in charge for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Brevard County is the region around Melbourne, Florida, south of Cape Canaveral. At least one other Florida law enforcement leader, Sheriff William D. Snyder of Martin County, agrees with Ivey.
“If a person legally can carry a firearm and carry it concealed and be out in public, I would say they would be in a lot safer position if there was a terrorist attack,” Snyder told WPTV.
Can the New Terrorist Strategy Be Stopped?
Meanwhile, Baylor University professor Philip Jenkins wrote in the American Conservative that groups like ISIS are using lone wolf terrorist tactics – tactics that are difficult to stop.
Jenkins noted that in the 1980s the neo-Nazi movement in the United States collapsed because it had been penetrated by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies. In response, some leaders promulgated a theory of leaderless resistance, which encouraged their followers to simply go out and carry out attacks on their own.
Terrorist websites and publications like the ISIS magazine Dabiq are now promoting similar tactics, Jenkins noted.
“What that means is that virtually none of the counter-terror tactics currently deployed by U.S. agencies have the slightest relevance to detecting or preventing future attacks,” Jenkins wrote. “You can’t track leaders because there aren’t any, you can’t infiltrate the group or turn participants, and all the propaganda and terror methods needed are on the Internet.”
Even if 99 percent of American Muslims reject ISIS doctrine, that still leaves 30,000 potential Islamic militants in the United States, Jenkins said.

By Michael Snyder – The Economic Collapse Blog
Doesn’t it seem like there is another Islamic terror attack somewhere in the world almost every day now? Today, there was a throat slashing at a subway station in London, and three female suicide bombers carried out a devastating attack in Chad that killed at least 27 and injured at least 90. Inspired by the success of ISIS, radical Islamists all over the planet are rising up and striking vulnerable targets. According to Wikipedia, there have been dozens of terror attacks worldwide so far this year, and the recent attacks in Paris and San Bernardino were some of the biggest news stories of 2015. Unfortunately, I believe that this is just the beginning. I am fully convinced that the seeds of terror that have been planted up until now will produce an increasingly bitter harvest as we head into 2016 and beyond.
The throat slashing that just happened in London is another in a series of seemingly random attacks that is creating fear all over Europe right now. Reportedly, the attacker yelled “this is for Syria” as he struck at his victim…
A man was stabbed in the ticket hall at Leytonstone station this evening by another man who witnesses say shouted “This is for Syria” as he slashed his throat.
Another three are thought to have been injured.
The Met Police said its counter-terrorism command unit is now investigating the incident.
Police said they used a taser on the suspect as he threatened others with a knife, before they managed to arrest him.
An alternate account of this attack in the Guardian sounds even more gruesome…
One person, who claims to have witnessed the attack, took to social media to reveal details of the horror. Laurynas Godvisa said: “So as I was going to Leytonstone station was dressed to go to Christmas dinner with people from work.
“As I walked down I just saw a lot of people running but I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn’t believe my eyes and what I saw was I guy with a knife and a dead guy on the floor.
“I was so scared I ran for my life. After good 10-15 police came and got the guy and arrested him.
“And as he was coming out this is what he said: ‘This is what happens when you **** with mother Syria all of your blood will be spilled.’”
On a daily basis, we all rely on the fact that the people we encounter in public are not going to try to kill us.
But what happens when attacks start happening regularly at soft targets such as schools, churches, subway stations, shopping malls and sporting events?
It isn’t going to take many mass casualty events in the western world before people really start freaking out.

As we have seen in recent months, our world is now plagued with those who want to terrorize us with mass shootings. Unfortunately, this trend will most likely continue. Why? Let’s have a look at some of the best shotguns that money can buy because there’s no survival or home invasion scenario that a shotgun can’t get you out of. Maybe you won’t even get to use it, as the sound of pumping your shotgun would be enough in sending chills down the spine of whomever means you harm. But if this fails, know that the large caliber ammo in use is more than enough to even stop an elephant in its tracks; what it’s capable of doing to a human assailant is not even worth mentioning. But shotguns come in a great variety of shapes and sizes and you’ll need to be aware of the differences before getting your own. Maybe the most important criteria to consider is the firing
method, as you can get a pump action or a semi-automatic. Length is also important, as it makes for greater maneuverability in certain situations, not to mention that a more compact one would be easier to carry
around all day as it will most probably be lighter.
The number of rounds that it can hold is a big deal, especially for those of you who aren’t good shots. It deals a world of hurt, it’s true, but you’ll need to hit your target; so the more chances you can take at gunning down your target, the better. The grip shouldn’t be overlooked either. Most shotguns come with a standard rifle-like grip, but some have a grip similar to pistols.
Remington 870 Express Tactical
This is not state of the art when it comes to shotguns, but it’s still one of the most used shotguns out there. It’s made a name for itself, and its capabilities are undisputable. This is a 12 gauge destroyer that has a capacity of 6 + 1. Its reloading system is based on pump action and it measure 18.5″ barrel. For precise aiming (as precise as aiming can be) it comes equipped with a fully adjustable XS Ghost ring and a removable front sight. It uses a SuperCell pad which can reduce recoil by about 40%-50%, depending on the situation. The whole body is covered in a weather resistant Carakote coating, which makes it perfect for those that are used to wandering outside in all sorts of weather conditions. It’s not a cheap shotgun, as it costs around $500, but it doesn’t cut corners in quality and precision.
Beretta AL391 Teknys Gold Target
This is a 12 gauge shotgun that is very well built and it’s fairly easy to shoot. It weighs at about 8lbs 11oz and when it comes to autoloaders, it’s simply one of the best (if not the best) you can find on the market. It has a 30” barrel and it might seem a bit heavy considering its weight, but it doesn’t feel heavy at all while you’re shooting. It has a removable recoil reducer in the buttstock, and if you’re eager of making it lighter, you can simply take the recoil down and drop about 0.5lbs from the overall weight. The self-compensating gas system it’s equipped with runs very smoothly and it reacts very fast, making the shooting process feel incredibly comfortable. It costs $1,200, and in my own personal opinion, you can’t get anything better in this price range.
This particular 12 gauge shotgun produced by Winchester has the latest and greatest when it comes to pump technologies, meaning that the SXP pump systems are extremely diverse and reliable. It has aluminum oil receivers, which are lighter and cheaper than steel ones; and despite popular believes they work perfectly. You can get a barrel length of maximum 30” and as far as looks go, there’s a great variety of models to choose from: camo, wood-stocked and synthetic black with chromed elements. It comes equipped with cross-bolt safeties, an Inflex pad that mitigates a great deal of recoil and a rotating bolt head with four locking lugs. This should cost you about $470, and if you ask me, it’d be money well spent.
Mossberg 930 SPX
Moosberg are well known for the quality of their products, and they’ve certainly made no exception to the rule when it comes to the 930 SPX. It’s a 12 gauge shotgun that has an 18.5″ barrel and a capacity of 7 (+ 1). It’s not exactly a cheap shotgun (considering you’ll need to throw away about $700 to get one), which won’t seem that much if you take into account that it’s a semi-automatic we’re talking about. The top of the gun is equipped with a rail that allows you to fit any sort of aiming system you find compatible; you can install a red dot, a scope or even a holographic site. Loading the magazine is very simple and It can be done very quickly: open the bolt lock, place a shell in the ejection port and push the bolt release.
There’s nothing more to be said about shotguns. We all know them, and we all love them. All you have to do now is find the one that works best for you. Usually prices vary from a couple of hundred $ to many thousands. It’s up to you on how much you’re willing to spend. But just know that if there’s ever the need for it, a shotgun will save the day.

We’re all aware of what a gas mask is; at least we have some idea about them. Gas masks (aka. respirators) are heavily used in society. The Police force has them, the Special Forces have them, the firefighters have them, spray painters have them etc. The basic use of a gas mask is to serve as filter for the air you’re breathing in and to stop possible irritants and noxious substances from getting into your respiratory system and affecting you general state your health.
The best gas masks (or respirators) are based on the same principle: the air is pulled into the canister that has a filtering system (on 3 layers: aerosol filter, charcoal filter and dust filter) and then is released towards the interior of the mask; the filtered air is safe to breathe.
The air is sucked into the canister as the wearer breathes. There are also battery operated gas masks, equipped with a fan, that will syphon air inside, but become useless when the batteries die out. There are also some that work just like a scuba breathing system: they don’t have a filtering canister, but a pressurized air canister, that is completely sealed.
A gas mask is a real asset for any serious prepper. It’s an absolute must-have in case of a chemical or biological attack. Works just as well in a combat zone, as it’ll filter out heavy smoke and even dust clouds. There two main types of masks: half masks and full mask. I half mask will cover your mouth and nose only; they’re used in spray painting and are recommended only if you know what contaminant you’re dealing with. In case of an extremely dangerous contaminant or if you simply don’t know what you’re facing, a full gas mask is the way to go. Not only will it cover your respiratory system, but I’ll also protect your eyes and face from dangerous agents, like Anthrax etc.
Israeli Civilian Gas Mask
This gas mask was issued by the Israeli government, is NATO approved and it’s perfect if you consider the quality / price ratio (it costs about $80). Because of the relatively low price and good features, it’s regarded to be as the standard gas mask for civilian protection. It’s best used in an evacuation scenario from a contaminated area. The mask itself is made out of a soft but durable rubber that covers the whole face (full mask); it offers great protection not only for the respiratory system, but also for the entire face. It has extremely efficient filters (NBC filters) that will keep you safe from almost everything, from nuclear and biological agents (like Anthrax) to chemical agents. This particular gas mask comes in both adult and child versions.
M61 Finnish Gas Mask
The MA61 model was developed in Finland and it’s meant to be used as a heavy-duty gas mask. It’s a side-mounted mask, which means the filter is screwed into the side of the mask, rather than in the font. The rubber it’s made from is extremely durable, but rather soft flexible at the same time. Its flexibility means that the mask will incase the face of the wearer perfectly, making it airtight, so that noxious fumes or chemical agents won’t find their way inside. It uses a twin goggle system rather than a single visor. The exhalation system has a plastic valve with an integrated speech diaphragm, for better communication.
ADVANTAGE 1000 CBA-RCA Gas Mask
The 1000 CBA-RCA mask is 100% American and it was developed based on a US Military design that was used by the USAF during the Operation Desert Storm. It has a Hycar face piece which is about 40% lighter than most full gas masks and also a customizable fit. There’s also a standard nose cup to eliminate visor fogging and a mechanical speaking diaphragm. The visor is a one piece that’s extremely tough and offers great field of vision. The canister can be mounted on both the left and the right side and it’s effective against all sorts of biological and chemical agents, like Mustard, Lewisite, GA, GB, GD etc. The head harness is adjustable and stable. There’s also an ID tag attached and it includes a CBA-RCA canister. The whole package comes at about $300.
There are plenty of models that are available on the market, it’s only a matter of personal choice. The price of a certain gas mask does not necessarily reflect its quality, so you don’t have to spend a lot of money for a good product that will filter well and fit great. But you’ll need to educate yourself in the matter a bit so you won’t throw your money out the window. Luckily there’s many manufacturer’s and sellers and price ranges vary from one to the other. So keep hunting for bargains, you’ll most likely find them.

President Obama and his advisors intentionally ignored intelligence reports during the 2012 campaign about the danger posed by ISIS because it would have damaged their re-election theme, says retired Lt. General Michael Flynn, the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
Flynn also believes a Paris-type attack on America is likely in the near future.
“I think that they did not meet a narrative the White House needed,” Flynn said of the intelligence reports in an interview with CNN’s Jack Tapper. “And I’ll be very candid with you, they just didn’t. I think the narrative was that al Qaeda was on the run, and bin Laden was dead. … They’re dead and these guys are, we’ve beaten them.”
The problem, he told CNN, was that no matter how many terrorist leaders were killed, they “continue to just multiply.”
Flynn is not the only person making allegations about the administration’s handling of ISIS. The Pentagon’s inspector general is now looking into claims that senior officials and officers are manipulating intelligence to downplay the ISIS threat, CNN reported. Some intelligence analysts told The Daily Beast that officers at the US military’s Central Command were distorting intelligence reports to make it look like American efforts to stop ISIS were more successful than they really were.
Flynn Was America’s Highest Ranking Military Intelligence Officer
“There were all kinds of strategic and tactical warnings and lots of reporting,” Flynn said of the intelligence about ISIS in an interview with Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine. “And even the guys in the Islamic State said that they were going to attack overseas. I just don’t think people took them seriously.”
Flynn, a 30-year veteran of the US Army, was America’s highest ranking military intelligence officer when he retired. He also served as assistant director of national intelligence for President Obama and commanded US Special Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2004 to 2007.
He also believes ISIS will deliver a Paris-style attack to the US.

“I really do believe it’s a matter of time, I believe, there’s going to be where our luck is going to run out and they are going to be able to achieve something along the lines of what we saw in Paris,” Flynn said.
Flynn says America’s strategy in the war on terror is not working and that US policy has actually made the situation worse. The US strategy of selectively killing leaders such as bin Laden has actually strengthened terror groups, he says.
“We used to say, ‘We’ll just keep killing the leaders, and the next guy up is not going to be as good,” Flynn told Der Spiegel. “That didn’t work out that way because al-Baghdadi is better than Zarqawi, and Zarqawi was actually better than bin Laden.”
Al-Baghdadi is a far more dangerous leader than bin Laden, Flynn says.
“Baghdadi brought himself to a mosque in Mosul and spoke from the balcony, like the pope, dressed in appropriate black garb,” Flynn said of the self-proclaimed caliph of ISIS. “He stood there as a holy cleric and proclaimed the Islamic caliphate. That was a very, very symbolic act. It elevated the fight from this sort of military, tactical and localized conflict to that of a religious and global war.”
Flynn continued, “al-Baghdadi is bringing in 1,500 fighters a month, from more than 100 nations. He’s using the modern weapons of the information age in fundamentally different ways to strengthen the attraction of their ideology.”
When asked how the US and other nations should deal with al-Baghdadi and his followers, Flynn was pretty blunt.
“The sad fact is that we have to put troops on the ground,” Flynn said, adding any strategy must involve Arab nations. “We won’t succeed against this enemy with air strikes alone. But a military solution is not the end all, be all. The overall strategy must be to take away Islamic State’s territory, then bring security and stability to facilitate the return of the refugees.”

In mid-November, we saw something come to life in the Western world that many of us have been talking about for years. A coordinated attack of Islamic terrorists devastated Paris, resulting in more than 100 dead.
Several weeks later, two shooters in San Bernardino, California – each of whom had alleged ties to Islamic terrorists — stormed a building and killed 14 and injured another 17. When these attacks occur, call centers are flooded and police response is scattered. Police in these situations will respond the best they can, but it’s an unrealistic expectation to think they can protect you.
From now until the end of December, we are looking at the busiest shopping season of the year. Throughout this month, we will be neck-deep in malls, big box stores and other retail locations. These busy malls and stores are basically giant soft targets.
How much damage could be done in one of these places? The results could be catastrophic. Many people may respond and simply say, “I’m just not going to shop at these places.”
If you are avoiding them because they’re crowded, that’s fine, but if you’re avoiding them because you’re afraid of an attack, I think that’s wrong. The likelihood of an attack at your mall or store is extremely low. By not going out, you are letting them win. Terrorists, by definition, use fear to affect a populace. Do not let the incredibly small likelihood of an attack keep you from shopping, worshipping or even ice skating.
I view it the same way I view carrying my concealed carry handgun. If I expected to be in a gunfight every day, I’d either drive a tank or stay home. I don’t expect a gunfight every day, but I understand I can’t control the world and that bad things happen. I am prepared for bad things, but I don’t live in fear.
Preparing for an Attack
Some people may not have a choice of going to these locations. A retail worker certainly can’t take a month off during the busiest season of the year, and it’s the same for truck drivers, security guards, janitors, and so on. In this time of uncertainty, though, I think it’s important to be prepared in case these events do happen.
The first step is being sufficiently armed. It would be great if we could all conceal carry AR-15 SBRs, but that’s not a realistic expectation. If you can’t legally carry, then I don’t advocate breaking the law. If you can carry, then carry, especially if the company you work for says you can. Winter clothes do make concealing a weapon easier.
Not only do winter clothes make carrying a weapon easier, but they make carrying a bigger weapon easier. I’ve taken to carrying my CZ P09 in 9mm, with 19 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. Some people might not go this far, but carrying something larger than a pocket 380 is something I’d advise. Even the Glock 26 offers 10 rounds of 9mm and is still carry-friendly. Perhaps you will decide to carry an extra magazine or speed loader.
Carrying a gun doesn’t mean you have to engage an attacker. That is a personal decision; some people may feel obliged to engage, others may feel they simply should make sure their family escapes safely. Even if you don’t choose to engage, then carrying a gun gives you the ability to engage when the choice is either engage or die. If you’re backed into a corner, then you are forced to engage.
Story continues below video
Regardless of if you can carry a gun, or don’t carry a gun, there are other things to do. First off, always have a fully charged cell phone. Even if it’s not activated, a cell phone can still dial 911. A standard cell phone allows you to call your family if you’re separated during an attack. A phone with a camera even can be used as a periscope to look around corners without exposing yourself.
The next item I suggest is to carry at least one tourniquet. A CAT tourniquet is the chosen option of the U.S. Military and is both effective and easy to use. These tourniquets are compact and can be carried in the pocket with ease. I can find one for about $30 online, and it’s pretty effective at stopping massive blood loss. I carry a CAT because I know how to use it, and I have a lot of training and experience with one. There are quite a few different styles of tourniquets out there, and it’s worth exploring.
Another two items I suggest: a good pocket knife and a decent little flashlight. These are basic everyday carry items and can be used in hundreds of different applications.
Keep a Good Attitude
That “thing” between your right and left ear is your best weapon. Having the right attitude and mindset are just as valuable as having a good gun — if not more so. Situational awareness is king. If you recognize a developing situation, you can put yourself in a position that gives you a tactical advantage — or you can escape.
When in stores, restaurants or anywhere else, you should place yourself in a position where you can either escape, take cover or engage. Position your back to a wall, and have the ability to observe the entrances and exits. Another tip: Never sit in the middle of a large crowd. I can’t imagine a worse situation than being in the middle of a mall’s food court when these situations erupt. You’d likely be far from cover, stuck in the open and fighting a panicking crowd.
Lastly, keep your head on a swivel. It’s not being paranoid. It’s simply being prepared.

While I’m watching the leaders of the world put on their spectacle called “The Global Warming Summit”, I want to take a little side trip to a topic that grabbed my attention over my break. Even though the President states that climate change offers a threat equal to, or greater, than Islamic terrorism, have you begun to notice that he and a few of the media are beginning to use the term “Daesh” (pronounced variously as DIE-ESH or DASH) to refer to ISIS? My first thought was, “Isn’t it enough that we play this little word game between ISIS and ISIL? Now we have to add a new name to the discussion?”
Then I decided there had to be a specific reason that this name play is being propagated, so what is the theory and reasoning behind our President, the Prime Minister of Australia, and the various heads of Europe using it? I found several articles — all from the Western world — which basically explained it this way: Just as ISIS is short for “Islamic State in Iraq and Syria,” or “Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham,” which is an old Arabic term for the area, and ISIL translates to “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant,” DAESH is supposedly an Arabic acronym for “al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham”, which is what they call themselves. It can sometimes be spelled DAIISH, Da’esh or Daech, a popular French version. Confused yet? (Personally, I don’t quite see where you get the letters D-A-E-S-H from that Arabic phrase). You will also read in the Western media that the reason DAESH hates being called DAESH is because it’s similar to the verb Daes, which means “one who crushes something underfoot”. It also sounds similar to Dahes, or “one who sows discord.”
Another explanation for the use of DAESH in the West is that, depending on how it is conjugated in Arabic, it can be an insult. It can mean anything from ‘to trample down and crush’ to ‘a bigot who imposes his view on others’ — not exactly the high opinion that the Islamic Caliphate holds of itself.
You can see why it’s easy to attribute those meanings to the new name of the Middle Eastern threat… they make sense to our Western minds. But then I happened upon an article by Alice Guthrie, an actual Arabic translator. She attempts to school us, here in the West, about the real reason this new name is being used.
Guthrie says that not only are these explanations wrong, but the same misinformation is being shared across the Western media — sometimes word for word — and it simply doesn’t make sense. To be sure, the acronym of ISIS can be seen in the term “al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham” (Dawla = State; Islamiya = Islamic; Iraq = Iraq (naturally); and al-Sham = Damascus/Syria). So, we can see where the word “ISIS” comes from; and can see the connection between DAESH and the Arabic verb Daes (meaning “one who crushes something underfoot”), but why would the self-proclaimed Caliphate give a darn what the Western world calls them? Why are Leaders and media in the West so determined to add another acronym to their description?
I’ll ask the same question Alice Guthrie presents: Why are the people it describes in such a fury about it? I will let Alice answer her own question: “Because they hear it, quite rightly, as a challenge to their legitimacy: a dismissal of their aspirations to define Islamic practice, to be ‘a state for all Muslims’ and – crucially – as a refusal to acknowledge and address them as such. They want to be addressed as exactly what they claim to be, by people so in awe of them that they use the pompous, long and delusional name created by the group, not some funny-sounding made-up word. And here is the very simple key point that has been overlooked in all the English-speaking press coverage I’ve seen: in Arabic, acronyms are not anything like as widely used as they are in English, and so Arabic-speaking people are not as used to hearing them as those of us in the West are. Thus, the creation and use of a title that stands out as a nonsensical, newly-coined word for an organization like this one is inherently funny, disrespectful, and ultimately threatening of the organization’s status.”
Guthrie goes on to explain that we must not dismiss the power of social media in the use of DAESH, as well. The use of this word is part of a multi-pronged, diverse range of efforts by Arabs and Muslims to reject the terrorists’ linguistic posturing, their pseudo-classical use of Arabic, their claims to Quranic authority and an absolute foundation in sacred scripture, as reflected in their pompous name.
So while the use of satire in the East is part of the proliferation of the use of DAESH to describe the self-appointed Caliphate, there is another aspect that the West tends to miss. First of all, both the shape of the word and the combination of letters in it are suggestive of words from al-jahaliyya, the pre-Islamic Dark Ages or ‘age of ignorance’ that – as well as being a time rich in poetry and narrative heritage – has huge connotations of hideous barbarity in the popular Arab imagination, being the realm of jinns and monsters and evil spirits and marauding freaks.
Another equally important point is another reason why the new acronym is insulting: it’s an obviously fictitious name, for an obviously fictional concept. Once again, the Caliphate movement’s claim to legitimacy as a state, and it’s right to rule, is being rejected as nonsense, reflected in a fabricated nonsense name for them.
So the real reason that the name DAESH insults the Caliphate is not just that the name makes them sound little, silly, and powerless, but that it implies they are monsters, and that they are made-up. So can you see the frustration and confusion that surrounds the use of this new acronym? The proper use of it in the Arab-speaking world is designed to insult and de-legitimize the terrorist organization. But none of that is explained here in the West, and there is no sense of the intended mockery and derision. So why even use it? If we, the American and Western audience, don’t fully understand the purpose of its use, doesn’t the term DAESH tend to add more mystery and authority to these evil men?
Ultimately, I guess the question becomes this: will the application of the term in the West serve to damage their cause as much as it will in the Middle East? I don’t claim to know the answer to that, but I thought you should have a little more information about the terminology than we have received to date. So, what is in a name? In this case, it doesn’t change a thing whether you call the Islamic terrorists ISIS, ISIL, or DAESH…. but, now, if you choose to call them by the latest moniker, you’ll know WHY.
Ecclesiastes 7:1 “A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of birth.”
ISIS has plans for terrorist attacks on the United States and other countries in order to launch a world war and trigger what it considers an apocalypse. So say experts on terrorism and Islamic theology who have studied the organization in detail.
“ISIS wants a war between Islam and the rest of the world, with Muslims on its side, as a way of creating and expanding its so-called ‘caliphate,’” Miami Herald world affairs columnist Frida Ghitis wrote in a recent CNN.com column.
On the surface, Ghitis wrote, ISIS’s strategy seems self-destructive. It provoked France and by extension NATO, and then it brought down a plane from Russia, which is not part of NATO.
“ISIS must have known that shooting down a Russian plane would make [Russian President Vladimir] Putin turn his guns against the perpetrators, which is exactly what has happened,” she wrote. “By attacking Russia, ISIS is doing the unimaginable, making Putin and the West start working together — against ISIS.
“…ISIS seems to be risking it all, creating the conditions for an overwhelming international attack, by the United States, Russia, France, Turkey, perhaps all of NATO, against its ragtag army. If this happens, it could lose it all.”
The goal, she wrote, is simple: provoke the countries to retaliate and get all Muslims to side with ISIS. It hopes its brutality and attacks will turn worldwide public opinion against moderate Muslims and Muslim 1refugees, and in turn the two groups will have nowhere to turn but ISIS.
“Its ultimate vision is an apocalyptic one,” she wrote. “A strategy that looks self-destructive is, in fact, destructive, but perhaps less baffling than it seems as first glance. As many scholars have noted, ISIS’s long-range vision is of an end-of-days battle with the West — what it calls Rome. It is the ultimate suicide mission, one that sees the entire world involved in a grand final conflagration.”

The attacks in Paris were planned by ISIS’s top commanders at its headquarters in Raqqa, Syria, and probably were ordered or approved by ISIS’s leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, experts say.
The ISIS Apocalypse
One of ISIS’s key beliefs is that there will be an apocalyptic battle between the forces of true Islam led by a Caliph, and the armies of Rome at the Syrian city of Dabiq, said Graeme Wood, a contributing editor at The Atlantic and a member of the Council of Foreign Relations.
ISIS has captured Dabiq, and al-Baghdadi has proclaimed himself Caliph, Wood noted. That means al-Baghdadi expects to lead the final battle between Islam and the rest of the world.
“Dabiq is basically all farmland,” an ISIS supporter tweeted earlier this year. “You could imagine large battles taking place there.”
Wrote Wood, “The Islamic State’s propagandists drool with anticipation of this event, and constantly imply that it will come soon.”
Many of the beheadings have taken place at Dabiq. According to ISIS’s theology, the Caliph will win the battle at Dabiq, conquer the entire world, and impose Sharia law, says Bernard Haykel, who is regarded as one of the world’s foremost secular authorities on ISIS’s ideology.
“Even the foot soldiers spout this stuff constantly,” Haykel told The Atlantic. “They mug for their cameras and repeat their basic doctrines in formulaic fashion, and they do it all the time.”
Politicians and some Muslim leaders may try and excuse the Koran by saying ISIS is twisting texts, but Haykel said the Koran is clear in teaching violence.
“People want to absolve Islam,” he said. “It’s this ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ mantra. … These guys [ISIS] have just as much legitimacy as anyone else.”

So what am I tangibly doing differently?
In my sleepy little small town western central Louisiana life I am not doing anything differently. Terrorism or whatever is not a concern here. My risk of being involved in something beyond normal crime is very low.
However when I travel to a bigger town I am doing things a bit differently. For Thanksgiving I went to visit my sister in greater Houston. Like always I had my trusty get home bag and Glock 19. I did intentionally fill up (Houston is a half talk away) before going to my sisters place. I also brought my fighting load and my AR-15 with 7 magazines.
In the not so distant future I would like to get a dedicated vehicle gun. A budget AR or AK would fit the bill. I think an AK with a folding stock would be ideal as it would fit in a gym bag for discrete transportation. Also 7.62×39 does better with vehicles which is a consideration. That being said an M4 style AR will fit in a tennis racket bag. Paul Howe has a set up like that which is pretty handy. I will probably get whichever I can find a deal on.
What changes have you made based on recent events?
In light of the recent Paris terrorism attacks, and the relentless media coverage of this incident, maybe, just maybe, “preppers” are so crazy after all.
One thing is clear.
The days of Mayberry are over.
Maybe getting started as a “prepper” isn’t such a dumb idea.
In fact, in today’s times, it might save you and your families’ lives.
You see it all over the mainstream media as well as our favored alternative media websites, things are changing rapidly, and not for the better. You can feel it in your gut, things are going to go from bad to worse, and seem to be happening at alarmingly faster pace. With all of the horrific things that are happening in our once great country, now is the time to prepare for the bad times that are inevitably coming. But where do you begin? What can you do? The first thing is to start by making a list. Make a list of everything you want to do to prepare, and keep this list visible so you are always forcing yourself to look at it so you can be doing something to get prepared.
Without a doubt, things are changing.
Don’t expect a TV talking head to tell you what you need to do.
